  1. Why would you even want to buy their products after they blocked you? They evidently don't want your money, there's not going to be any support if things go awry, and I can't believe there's anything left in SL that's so niche you can only get it in one shop.
  2. My guess was that all the landscaping/building moles you'd expect to be putting together a new Linden Home theme would probably get diverted to prepping the birthday itself; would be good to be proved wrong, though.
  3. I think NUX avatars are more likely to be launched than PP+ homes, since we have at least seen prototypes of those...
  4. If you were happy with Hourglass there's always Belleza Freya (it's discounted now, and some of your existing wardrobe probably has Freya fits included) , though Reborn is growing in popularity and is the better option for new clothing.
  5. n'thing Cog & Fleur; Poison Rouge have some nice hats; and in the meantime there is a steampunk avatar with mesh clothing in your inventory library (her name is Abigail). I'd start with one of the group gift hairs from Sintiklia, though if you did want to splash out Magika have a 40% sale on this weekend.
  6. It was very weird how they just dropped Analexa with no notice. It does make me wonder whether they got served another DMCA and aren't actually allowed to discuss anything relating to the product until it's resolved.
  7. Those have now been overtaken by the people who only have a shower. No cubicle, no towels, no soap. Just a shower, more often than not hovering midair with no apparent connection to the mains particle supply. (It's an It's Not Mine thing, apparently)
  8. If you have to pay L$50 to join a brand new group to get it, then sorry, but that's not a free body anymore. They should have called it 'Erika Zero Plus Fifty'. The only fix I really wanted was removable toenails so I could wear heeled boots. (I have alts on Meshbody Classic; they're used to that kind of kludging) It did look to me like they were phasing out the Kalhene brand when I sent my alts to pick up the Zero; it was 'Erika by N-Core'. Which is fine, because the existing Kalhene group is mostly spam about Erika-rigged shoes and micro-skirts anyway, and there's no point having a separate brand if you only have one body.
  9. I don't really expect anyone to continue rigging for Freya because it has after all been deprecated. That's not an issue because there's years worth of clothing for it, and I don't imagine anyone is going to bother removing old stuff from vendors. But GenX Curvy doesn't have that existing selection and is only 0.3% ahead of Freya, so seems at equal risk of being discontinued. As a Freya user, that's not giving me any incentive to switch even at a reduced price. Plus Freya is mod, so will hopefully be PBR-proof. (Tonic users also appear to be refusing to upgrade to Prima, which is unsurprising. My Tonic alt ended up getting a Maitreya for Black Friday, though she switches back when she wants to wear her old Slink shoes.)
  10. This is true inasmuch as if I'm shopping for a specific aesthetic, I know I can find it for Maitreya; but SL is SL, and the majority of everything is bodycon dresses with cutouts. It's very easy to avoid if you stay away from freebie groups and shop'n'hops and clubs, but it's out there nonetheless. (I'm starting to see lolita/kawaii stuff rigged exclusively for Reborn, though I feel like that's taking users from Legacy rather than Maitreya, i.e. people who have to be in whichever body is currently trending.)
  11. Trouble is, even if 90% of stuff for Maitreya is stripper gear, the sheer volume of stuff rigged for Maitreya means that I can quite happily shop within the remaining 10%. With Erika, that 10% is basically a couple of Hilly Haalan dresses. Also, people wearing free bodies need free (or dirt cheap) clothes. At the moment, they have the group gifts and the Aleutia sweater from MP. Given that Analexa and its predecessors managed to fit the majority of Maitreya clothing, I have no idea why they couldn't have rigged Erika to be at least semi-compatible with Freya or Hourglass, or included deformers to ease the transition from an old body to the new one. OK, there's always the threat of a DMCA, but Lucybody's still around...
  12. I used to go to slnamewatch.com to track which last names were available and which portals were offering them (there were multiple sign-up pages around in those days and name choices would vary between them). It was a little bit like Game of Homes, having to refresh till the name you wanted came up. And it was free! I miss those days.
  13. Calling your mer avatar 'Mermaid' or 'Fishtail' just seems to me to be like calling your human avatar 'Person' or 'Ladylegs', though I daresay Mermaid will be acquired by enough pastel-haired kawaii girls to make it worth their while.
  14. Just speculating here, but maybe people aren't hugely fond of ugly ads/obelisks/random junk?
  15. Yeah, but anything more than a dozen people and you really should be hiring a community centre. That's literally what they're for. I just abandoned a nice Vic because the idiot next door left a full-bright giant martini glass in his garden, so... not a huge fan of permanent party builds, but I suppose people with multiple houses have difficulty actually living in all of them.
  16. Good. It wouldn't be fair to fill a residential region with your own friends, lagging your neighbours and possibly even hindering their ability to teleport home, when the Lindens have provided a whole bunch of regions for the express purpose of preventing that from happening.
  17. I'm pretty sure the 2048's will get a new landmass rather than being bolted on to existing ones. I'm also pretty sure they will be adjacent to Bellisseria, covered by the same covenant and will show up as Bellisseria on the land page.
  18. My freebie guy manages OK with the Meshbody, and gets his clothes from low-end template places which still put TMP fits in their lucky chairs, lol. (Still a lot of alpha-ing involved, so perhaps not ideal for noobs.) He rocked an Altamura head for a while before picking up a gift from Logo, but that was a few years ago. I wouldn't be surprised if Catwa did another giveaway soon, given their current struggles, but it's not something I'd be banking on and their 'unisex' heads tend to skew feminine (though probably less so than Genus Strong). So, yeah, I'd be hanging on for NUX, on the assumption that that will be coming marginally sooner than the next LeL gift.
  19. Does anyone still think this shower are a business? They didn't manage to find anyone to buy their stolen data, they haven't (so far) started extorting protection money from people who want to be left alone, and they have never acted with the slightest hint of professionalism. Prok had the measure of them; they're a bunch of amateur trolls, nothing more.. Attempting to negotiate 'politely' with someone who is harassing you is a terrible idea. File an abuse report instead.
  20. I'm saying that somebody who refuses to pay for scripted agent status would automatically be a bad actor. So anything that's a roaming bot without that status gets dealt with like any other griefer, along with all its alts. And yes, if you've paid for your bot of course you're going to use it more responsibly than someone rolling a dozen free alts a day (in part because the new restrictions will force you to.) It's not a perfect solution by any means, but hey, it'd bring in a little bit of extra cash for the Lab and make it much easier for residents to distinguish between reputable users and random trolls.
  21. I've suggested before that making scripted agent status a perk of premium (or even basic plus) membership would help with regulation as well as offsetting the costs of such regulation. People are substantially more likely to think about what they're doing if they have to pay for it. Parcel-level restrictions would be nice to have, but at this point I think we just have to accept that Mainland is the Wild West and if you don't want bots, you'll either have to fine-tune your orbs or opt out of all the networks manually. Or move. Same applies to Belli. It's a gated residential community and the landlords have decided it's not the place for bots. I expect they weighed up the number of ARs they were getting up against the number of residents who were running bots, and decided in favour of the larger of the two.
  22. Because other bot users ruined it for you. It sucks. I'm sorry. But you still have the option of Mainland (or even one of the old 512 Linden Homes, which is basically the same thing at this point, covenant-wise.)
  23. I do actually agree that Those Who Must Not Be Named are not actively evil, just fundamentally... unserious? By which I mean that they seemed to get a lot more enjoyment out of the drama than they would have done had they actually been trying to accomplish something useful, rather than just trolling everyone. Of course, if they were anything like as clever as they thought they were they'd have been able to think through the implications of what they were doing, including the possible impact on legitimate bot owners, but they couldn't be bothered. Easier to blame everyone else for being 'paranoid'.
  24. Visitor trackers have been around forever, so I always assume when I go to a parcel that somebody will know I've been there. That said, I'd prefer to be informed that I'm being tracked than not. It's just good manners.
