Oh I know, lets evict all the tenants from those old Linden homes, condemn the sims and reposition them to build that connection between the continents everyone seems to want.

.. be judged by people in the future using their standards of right and wrong? Groups such as PETA and various "Friends of the Earth" would love nothing better than to ban the eating of animal flesh. Animals have "rights" too doncha know and to raise them for our nourishment is considered by some to be exploitation of the worst kind. Plus, raising animals for food is far less efficient than using the land to grow grains for us to consume directly. They of course ignore the fact that most rangeland isn't suitable for growing crops, but activists never let cold hard reality get in the way of their silly claims. But I digress. Let's suppose that at some point one hundred years in the future, eating animal flesh is finally universally condemned and banned, and anyone that would even consider eating an animal or defend the practice, is denounced as evil. My question: Are we evil today for eating animal flesh, because people 100 years in the future declare us to be evil?

I'm not here to make fun of anyone, I'm simply here to offer my opinions on various topics. However I'm usually on the other side from the hive mind opinions that most people here subscribe to, so of course they swarm out to attack.

They were bought fair and square in the public market. There was no need to kidnap anyone. The tribal chiefs in Africa were more than happy to sell captives of war, and other unwanted members of their society. You keep forgetting slavery was LEGAL. It was legal when America was formed, it was legal when the south left. It was still legal in the slaves states that didn't leave the Union until after the war ended In Africa today, in more than one country there is still a thriving slave trade. Oh wait, modern day slavery is just practiced in other cultures with different values than our own, so its all fine, we can't judge other by our standards can we? Unless of course, we are judging people in the past.

Owning a full estate sim that you bought from LL is NOT the same as owning a full sim parcel on mainland. On mainland you get no more rights of ownership with your "full sim ownership" than if you owned a 512. Even owning the full sim, you get no estate manager rights, including but not limited to setting the maturity rating, editing terraform limits, changing ground textures, or managing the estate ban list. Consider that extra $20 US a month you pay as the cost of truly owning the sim. If you aren't happy, sell it and buy a full-sim mainland parcel.

Having no choice, she stops and they lived together happily ever after. Whats intersting is that one point before he finished beating her, he offered to let her continue her habit for another 35 years if she would just agree to come home, but having gotten used to her freedom she refused. I guess if you love someone enough you can do whatever you want to force them to bend to your will.

a year ago i put in a ticket for roadside directly across the road from me. it was put to auction and a flipper outbid me. he sold it but recently it was abandoned. my tier is maxxed out, so i didn't try to get it however a land flipper got it by direct sale. another flipper got a parcel carved out beside me from a larger parcel, subdivided it and is now offering both for sale. so i've not done it but roadside is being sold directly to residents. ive seen it done twice where i live

well yes if its a desirable property but roadside is obviously not considered desirable enough to put up for auction so as i said at the start of the thread, now is the time to get roadside direct from LL and cut out the flippers and destroy their chance to make a profit from you. 5L per sq m from a flipper or 1 L per sq m from LL? the choice seems obvious.

Since Klytyna for some reason thinks I want a controlled free market (that's an oxymoron for you) the free market consists of two individuals (a buyer and a seller) agreeing on a mutual price for each parcel of land that changes ownership. Land barons are simply individuals like the rest of us, they are entitled to put in claims for as much land as they can afford tier for. Why would land barons in unison say, oh my all our land is priced too high, we better all lower it? Each land baron knows that the price of each of his parcel is a fair price, thats why he set it at that amount. The trick is to find a buyer that agrees with him. If not, it sits unsold for years, until any profit is eaten up by tier. Or he can lower the price. Or, he can always rent out the land, even though that market is oversaturated. Sooner or later, any profit will be swallowed by tier. But regardless, it's his land, he can do what he wants with it The key to successful land flipping is high turnover. Selling a road front parcel for 5L a square meter isn't gonna happen today if i can walk down the road and buy direct from LL for 1 L per sq m Either way, the land is owned, and LL collects their tier. And it's all the free market at work.

People want their fun, but they want others to pay for it. Of course that's completely understandable in this day and age. Doncha know, LL are evil capitalists exploiting the poor working class (there's that word again) forcing them to pay big bucks for a tiny parcel of land to call home.

There's so much vacant land because LL made it so hard to aquire it. Now its become so much easier. It's fine if baron landflip buys up whole sims and sits on them for years. LL gets their tier, and eventually they will need to sell or start losing money. Prove to me how the self regulation of the land resale market doesn't work in SL. No one ever pays 1 Linden more for any parcel that what they think the land is worth. THAT is the free market

Even flippers can't hold on to a parcel forever. You watch as they drop the price, then buy when they finally drop the price to what YOU think the land is worth.

Where did i say the market should be regulated. I said make it wide open, let everyone know they can get land from LL for 1 L a sq m Let the flippers buy whole sims, LL gets their tier, but there's more abandoned land than even the flippers can buy up. Eventually they will realize their folly and lower prices just to cut their losses.The free market is always right, it always SELF regulates. Only socialists think they can control the economy better than the free voluntary exchange between individuals And yes Ayn Rand was a prophet and a genius.
