  1. Here's a generalisation. Guys believe that female avis get bombarded with IMs. Not so.

My own experience is that as I've worked on my avi, first to mesh, later to BoM, the random IMs have reduced not increased.

I can go to a beach or club and get nothing all the time I'm there. Very occasionally I might get multiple hits, but that's very rare.

Of the small number of guys who ping me, most just say hi. Of the small number of female avis who ping me, NONE ever start with hi.

I would NEVER try to start a convo by saying hi.

I don't have the answer to any if this but where you are, who is there, what you look like, how you are dressed are all factors. Plus your profile. Mine is deliberately slightly vague! 9_9

  2. I agree totally with Pheeby. Age is just a number, especially in SL.

Some "older guys" insist on telling me their age in the first convo. Guys, I don't care.

Some "younger guys" demand to know my RL age. Guys, it doesn't matter.

Female avis rarely, if ever ask or disclose age. Age isn't the issue, but timezones sure are.

I'm also UK, and my cinderella time is a fairly hard 12noon SLT. Because I have RL responsibilities, so after 8pm is a nono.

Occasionally I can get in world early, but I rarely meet any Australians. Most people I meet are USA/Canada. There are UK groups in world but no real sense of a community as far as I can see.

Most clubs are empty when I'm in world, except Muddys and Fogbound are usually busy, although conversation at either is patchy. Elsewhere there are small groups in some clubs, but overall not much going on. The BDSM clubs are usually busy, and with decent chat but not to everyone's taste!

I spend more time at shopping events these days.

  3. Lasting friendships are possible in SL, despite timezones getting in the way. Our group slowly came together on this very forum, and we soon discovered that we were on the same page. We meet occasionally in world, because we each lead different SL lives, but when we manage to get all seven of us together it's rare and it's fun. This shot presented some difficulties because our Artistic Director remained near naked for most of the shoot!

  4. This reminds me of the Katie Melua song.

"If all your dreams were on fire, which one would you save?"

I wish that LL would grant permission in such circumstances that I could pass on my accounts to friends. This way, my SL markers would prevail.

Busy man, where am I on your list?
You're so full of big ideas
Do you think that we can coexist?
Will we be a pair in twenty years?
If all your dreams were on fire
    Which one would you save?
When it comes down to the wire
    Should I be afraid?
    Should I be afraid?
I don't need the world to be content
All I'll ever need is you
Time alone with you is time well spent
For me that simple dream will more than do
If all your dreams were on fire
    Which one would you save?
When it comes down to the wire
    Should I be afraid?
    Should I be afraid?
If all your dreams were on fire
    Which one would you save?
When it comes down to the wire
    Should I be afraid?
    Should I be afraid?

  5. Lara was my first mesh body. I've demo'd others. None cut it for me. Legacy I find I just don't like the legs/ ankles/feet. I've tried so hard to like Legacy, but I can cope with Laras slight shoulder shape issue way better than Legacys legs.

I have friends who take the opposite view.

All my alts have Lara, and they are grateful.

Reminds me of having bought a chocolate making kit from an online specialist, the cocoa butter arrived not just melted (which would have been fine), but leaking out of the package all over the place.  They had not even bothered to double-bag it. (I shall not be buying from them again. Probably, most purchases shelled out for the special fast shipment.)

Some years ago in a moment of madness I had some artisan ice cream sent through the post. It arrived in perfect condition, sealed in a polystyrene box filled with dry ice. Crikey that dry ice was a bit dodgy.  And it lifted a layer of concrete when I tipped it away on the drive.
