Well, I did try to go shopping yesterday but ended up chatting instead of shopping..............

But today was different! There's a football match on now so not many guys out there wanting to chat. So I've done the rounds and got hold of maybe half a dozen demos with nearly that many demo hairs.....   Once I get started.......

The animation thing is a good point, but that for me will have to come later. The look is far more important to me than the available animations. In fact I'm still not that happy with my body animations, but that can wait in the list of things to sort out.

Mesh Body Addicts has been a huge help.........................

So now I need some time free from RL interruptions to make a start..............................tick tock tick tock........

Thanks all for the advice so far. Yeah it looks like a lot of fun messing with the demo's.

I'll need to find a nice quiet slot somewhere in RL (no interruptions) so that I can do this properly. I'm really looking forward to the change. The change from a system body to a mesh body was incredible, and a lot easier in the end than I expected!!!

OK, me yet again.

So, I've had a few days to surf the forums, and I've been absorbing all the Avi images in the vanity threads..................

Oh wow........you girls are a really bad influence on me. I'm happy with my look, and even if I go mesh, I would like to try to keep the look, but some of these mesh faces are soooo gorgeous, that it's starting to pull at me.............

I can see that there will be lots of fun playing with "the look"...

I have the landmarks for CATWA and Esode, but you talk of others. Do the other sellers have in world malls? If so can somebody post the landmarks please.

Is it then as easy as bu a head eg CATWA, buy a skin eg Esode, and job done???

Nothing has been that easy so far..........

I've been away for a week without in-world access.... but the benefit was that I could check out the forums on my phone when I got the chance!!

And I've really enjoyed looking at the forums...........

Anyway, here are a few more of my clubbing outfits. I'm only really buying stuff I would have in RL, although here it's always shorter, tighter, and more daring!!!

The first image is my "go anywhere" outfit The top is Maitreya Lisbon in white. The jeans are Blueberry, and I have the fat pack but I simply love the orangey-peach colour!! Shoes are Scandalize NikiHeels......... (I'm beginning to sound like an expert)....hehe.

The next image is my hot (weather) summer outfit.... The dress is Blueberry Rylal, shoes are Scandalize NikiHeels (again!).

I love red, orange and yellow, so the Rylal dress is perfect!!! There's a fatpack but this is the only one I really like.

The third image was my first proper clubbing outfit and this dress looked good on my system Avi. The dress is [hh[ Gracie, and the shoes, which I love, are [hh] Cindy Heels. The HUDs allow lots of colour changes, but I like green or white the best.............

Finally my second ever clubbing outfit, which also looked good on my system Avi. This dress has a plunge back down to the waist. I've worn it in red and black on my old Avi, but on the mesh body, for some reason, pink looks the best. The dress is SHEY - Siona, and the shoes are in my favourites list .... [SHEBA] Alice Heels.

I'm really getting the hang of this, but I will be making a separate post about mesh heads.................*whistles*..........

Hi All

I joined SL on May 3rd, and to be honest, have never stopped chatting to people. It's also what I do in RL............

I hung around the newcomer friendly Sims, and got to know people that way. I also like to dance and there's no better way to strike up a friendship. Sometimes there's no response or a short response and that's fine, we're all different. 

Chatting to people in world has really helped me learn how to manage my Avi, and go shopping......and I have some really good friendly experts that I can turn to. I need them a lot!!!

 So although I'm not lonely in world, I'm always happy to chat to anybody.............

This is my current favourite clubbing outfit. I finally managed to wear it after taking advice from the forum experts on how to use an applier!!

The dress is -ELLE- Roberta Bianca - It has the flap on the skirt but is worth it!!!

Shoes are [Sheba] Alice Heels

The second image is a day after I got my Maitreya body. The Bikini is Maitraya....................

I don't have much to add to this......

However, some of my happiest times were in my clubbing days in RL. So in SL my default outfits are clubbing outfits. In SL they are shorter, tighter and more daring than they were in RL, but I love it like that.

Yes I get hit on, but the girls I chat with say it doesn't matter what you wear, it happens anyway. Does it bother me? No. But most of the chat up lines are clumsy or way too direct to get anywhere.

Girl talk is far more fun. Just like RL......

I use mouselook in the shopping malls but not really anywhere else.

I'm about a week into enjoying my Maitreya Lara body, thanks to all you experts on the forum!  And I'm so happy!!!

At the moment I'm not layering, just using it like a classic Avi, and I've found that most clothes just fit straight on (and off).

But one or two just don't appear, and I would like a step by step idiots guide please?

But I'm struggling to find some quite ordinary lacy underwear, and suspenders.

I know some of you will be on this subject.

The body is Lara by Maitraya - once i saw it.................

My head is still classic. It's Bea, by ApolloBlue. A lovely classic Avi and only  L$222 when I bought her!!

So I'll give it a bit of time now, and then start looking again at heads. I really would like to keep this look, so it might be a long search!!!

I thought I'd update you all, following a couple of days of experimentation.  The transition has been much easier than I expected but with a huge amount of help along the way..........

I haven't found a skin I like that will fit my head and body, but I do have a close enough match for now, so I've decided to leave well alone. Maybe when I 

upgrade my head, then I'll look again at skins.

A lot of my current wardrobe seems to fit without a problem, but obviously I've been shopping a lot, and I'm developing a taste for shopping in store...............Hmm. :).....

I got time to try the Lara demo today and WOW! Just WOW!. It went straight on, and it's only when you see the huge improvement that you can understand why mesh is so popular.

I thought I had my classic Avi in pretty good shape, but this is a different level....................I'm just amazed. So I've made the purchase, and next I'll start on the skin shade. My current head is slightly darker, so as you predicted, there's a line which makes it look like I've been sunbathing in a polo neck...........haha.

I thought you might like to see how far I got with my classic............................

And I'll start looking at those skins and get right back to you if and when I get stuck............which is a sure thing!!!!

I must admit that I do like the look of the Lara body!!.........................and I'll chase up on all those links.

Please keep it coming if you think of anything else - I need all the help I can get!!!

Update - visited the store and with a bit of help, got the Lara demo. Must now find some time!!

Also joined the Lara Group. I'll be asking more questions when I look for the Esode skin. Please be patient!!!!

OK I'll admit it. I'm struggling with mesh Avi's.  First just let me say that I'm new into SL. Six weeks in, and climbing a mountain of information. In truth I'm doing OK with my classic Avi. I've sorted HUDs and Alpha's and sandboxes, and touching and unpacking stuff. I've even sorted alphas for clothing, and so I'm doing quite well!!!!!  And I've sorted shopping....................

But I want a mesh body. I've had a load of good advice inworld, and even attended a classroom event. I'm still confused, and here's why..........

The marketplace is very confusing. There are complete Avi's with clothing etc etc, and then there is 'Avi appearance' and 'Avi components'.

All the ads expect a level of understanding which I don't have. Occasionally I think I do, and then my hopes are dashed when I try to move forward.  I was looking at retaining my classic Avi head (and read a thread about this earlier), but I might also just go for a full new Avi.

Today I visited the Maitreya Sim, and the Esode Sim, but quite honestly, with no one there to help, it was a wasted trip!

I then got a skin and shape demo from Esode - they have lovely Avi's !!!!!  I experimented in the sand box, and the make up and skin shade options are really lovely.

But when I added the shape, it morphed my classic Avi into something from Lord of the Rings. Huge feet and hands and a small body......not the best look. I understood that a full body alpha is needed to cover the classic Avi, but there wasn't one in the demo. I've also heard about Omega appliers???  It's still all mumbo jumbo..........

Oh but the good news is I did get some slink hands and feet....................................I'm leaving them well alone for now.

So.................If  buy a complete Avi,   can I simply wear it out of the box? (with minor adjustments possible). Or does it need laying over my classic?

If I go with a skin and shape pack, is everything I need in the box? And what is "the idiots guide" for making it all come together???  e.g. step 1 do this.....step 2 do this.....and so on.

At the moment it's very frustrating!!! Oh and I don't mind spending a wedge of L$ to get this right..............................................

Any simple advice would be lovely...................

Hi All.

I'm very new to SL. Been active about two weeks and so very green about everything. But I do like chatting about nothing in particular, and I will try to communicate with avatars as I explore the SL world. Sometimes there's no response. Maybe they don't speak English. Sometimes it can be hard work, but sometimes I've had a really good time, and made one or two good friends already.

I also get approached quite often (like in RL!) and I'm happy to chat to anyone. I have two  simple rules, which are no crossover into RL, and no adult stiff. It's way way too early for that!!!

So I think it depends what you want from SL, but I will always say Hi, and see what happens from there. But already I've found that it's not a good idea to friend too many people, and I'm being more selective now.
