  1. Your best solution would be to comment on the FSJira that Animats pointed to.
  2. This is quite interesting. I must say that I believe that your practice of shutting off your PC moments after logging off makes you a bit of an "edge-case" in user activity, Rick, but the current 'BAM shutdown' is just too darn fast to feel healthy to anyone with a modicum of sense. For a few days I was convinced that the new FS was crashing at log out, but since my settings and my inventory remained intact, I simply got used to it. I never shut down my PC immediately after logging off SL simply because I do other things with it. That LL did it because "they were asked to" by a small but seemingly strongly influential group of users smacks of LL doing its usual consumer research (ie none). FS were, I assume, obliged to use that new code, but in view of several other bugs, around right-clicking, texture editing and the friends list, I am inclined to think that whatever QA LL did on the viewer, it was not very exhaustive.
  3. My typical reaction to all this to sit quietly and boggle. Everyone so far seems to have missed one of the fundamental issues with VR on a multinational medium. Ping. As far as I can see, having >200ms ping to SL is inconvenient at best (it makes vehicle operation during a racing simulation really difficult in third-party) in mouselook it is nearly impossible but in full VR it is both very difficult AND thoroughly nauseating (at least it was to me when I trialled a non-SL application recently). Couple that to problems for anyone not using single-vision spectacles makes VR a vomit comet for anyone outside the USA where SL is concerned. In my opinion, yours may differ.
  4. Yes, Whirly, I have little doubt that it is an EEP bug, but it's a new-ish one and neither of the ones you quote seem applicable to this phenomenon...hmm can I use the word "phenomenon" when it is patently NOT a natural but a virtual occurrence?
  5. This may not be a topic that many care about but I have always liked the way the reflections in the SL sea shade from white through gold to red at sunset and the reverse at Sunrise. When EEP was introduced some two years ago the Moon became all but invisible until well risen and well before setting and the fiery colours in the see at moonset seems most incongruous. I only noticed a few days ago that those colours of reflections had changed again and now both sun and moon rise and set with silvery/white reflections on the SLsea. I have had several others say the same and one said the changes tied in with the change in the rendering code that returned viewer FPS to something like Windlight days. (It also introduced several other bugs which have been much talked about elsewhere.) So is this something peculiar to me or Firestorm, I'd like to know other folks' experience, suggestions (sensible ones only please!) and advice. Thankyou.
  6. Weird. Looks like LL Ninja edited that issue away, it's nowhere to be seen on the GSP (for me at least) now. All I see is a brief run of Billing maintenance earlier today. The login issue it "seems" to refer to is logging into the MP not SL. ETA: D'oh yes it does mention logging into the viewer as well, I must be going blind. I'll shut up now.
  7. I've had no specific issues from the UK (apart from some SLunday weirdness yesterday, with item boxing and retexturing ((you really don't want to know))), though tonight (UK time) I heard in the Phoenix Lounge group chat that there have been some Cyber attacks on sites in the USA and maybe AWS got a bit of blow-back from that?
  8. All your issues, especially since the problem affects all Viewers, leads me to think that your freezes and hanging incidents may be caused by your anti-virus software scanning elements of the viewer. The Firestorm wiki has some useful information about how to white-list important executables and various folders pertaining to the viewer(s). I see that you say you have done this but I am equally convinced that the AV scanning is at the root of your problem. I cannot copy the relevant url right now but if you need it I will post it in the (Uk) morning. I also assume that your computer is hardwired to the router and not WiFi.
  9. Look at the Deploy post thread...looks like they dun broke it. Rollbacks happening now.
  10. Whoops indeed. I think you'll find some on MP, Mazidox.
  11. That is darned odd, even by SL standards. It seems strange to me that LL should roll new code to the RC Channel(s) and yet not make any mention of it outside of a clearly reluctant reference at this week's SUG. As I type...what have we here?
  12. What's the recipe this week Mazidox? Any new stuff for the RCs?
  13. What you describe sounds like inventory loss due to the local inventory gz file being corrupted but repeated issues might indicate an issue with your PC. A scan might show issues. I have experienced a similar issue, but only once. The "worn" outfit was empty, I got that "this outfit contains no items" when I looked at it. The items WERE worn if I looked in the "worn" tab of my inventory and I was rezzed to myself. The viewer then locked up and I could not close it. I then realised that my entire PC was locking up and the main drive light was flickering brightly as if the processor was fully occupied. I could not shut it down via the windows menu so I did a "hard stop". It restarted normally and after a scan (which showed no issues) I launched Firestom and all seemed normal and the previous empty outfit folder was populated as it should have been. I ran for several sessions without any further issues and later I cleared the viewer cache after a couple of incidents were my house simply didn't rez (it looked weird with all the furniture and stuff floating in mid-air!). So far the lock up has not repeated and I have successfully created several new outfits. Whether all this was a viewer bug or just a PC glitch I don't know, but it sounds similar.
  14. I'd guess that they (Lindens) still bother because if they didn't (like today for instance), then relatively new accounts that don't know their way around these forums like us might try to log on...fail to get in, maybe look at the only information source they might know such as the Grid Status Page and think that there's a problem with their rig or their ISP... fixing it is just too hard and just never bother again. Extreme example perhaps but if you have an unreliable product it won't be a commercial success. End of.
  15. I didn't "overlook" a simple explanation, Solar...there wasn't ANY explanation until Monty kindly brought us up to speed. My original complaint was about the lack of any warning on the Grid Status Page and as you pointed out yourself the "All Clear" did indeed go out early as Monty said.resulting is a false indication on the GSP. All I am doing is calling out poor flagging by LL, it's not as if they're new to this.
  16. Yes, Monty, chaotic. Two separate posts, one indicating that the roll was complete and another clearly stating that the roll was still in progress! Now I see two seperate (How DO you spell this word?) posts indicating that the roll is complete; one suggesting completion at 6:15am PST and another announcing completion at 09:10am! Were two seperate rolls being carried out on SLS? To what end?
  17. And yet the header of the GSP says that the roll on SLS is still ongoing. This is chaotic, even by your standards, LL.
  18. I know it's not your job, Mazidox but it'd be nice if the GSP had some reference to all this before Europe went to bed! ETA: 9 hours later and there is still no mention of the restarts on the GSP. Is the person responsible for the GSP on holiday or is it just broken? FETA: Well well well...at 06:11hr PDT you announce a roll due to commence at 06:12hr PDT, or "approximately 06:00hr". It was notified as commenced at 06:14hr. Thankyou LL. No...really.
  19. If I had an English pound for each of the number of times I've heard this said I'd be able to buy a better computer! I've lost count of the times I've waded through the ticket system trying to find a suitable category to put my enquiry. I can and do use Live Chat but I would cheerfully throttle Boxy5000 some days. On the whole support Lindens and their colleagues are at least helpful and sometimes have insights into issues that one has not thought about, but there has always been a high fence to jump over to get support and sometimes that is just the wrong time to be making folk jump through hoops.
  20. Looking at Your video, Henri I see several "deformed" avatars, something I almost never see...the persistent Orange cloud may be due to the speed of my internet which is only FTTC (BT Infinity). Clearly your hardware is driven harder by your viewer (not a bad thing if the gear can take it) but usually I see fully formed and dressed avs once they rez. One other thing I see (corroborated by other FS users) is that avs behind me used to drop out of the viewer cache and if I turned to look at them after a minute or two they would have to rez again. That is no longer the case, once rezzed they stay rezzed. My texture cache capacity is maxxed at ~10GB (9984MB) and remains c90% filled. Rebooting the hardware makes no difference. From my viewpoint the slow rez of some avatars is a nuisance but not a game-breaker, whereas the low FPS at clubs before was. The time to rez of newly arrived avatars seems highly variable between users, some that rez slowly for me rez quickly for others and vice versa. oh and I have always been hardwired to my router using a desktop PC not a laptop.
  21. The above comments by Rachel1206 confirmed what I already surmised that this change of rezzing speed is an unwonted side-effect of the changes that were made to the rendering code that gives the performance enhancement. Now the question in my mind at least is: What, if anything, are LL going to do about it and when?
  22. Following the above comments and after a distinctly cloudy evening in SL a thought occurs to me. Is this phenomenon restricted to folk using the new Firestorm 6.6.3, or is it more general? I have found that everyone rezzed eventually and subjectively the situation seemed to improve considerably after midnight my local time (BST). My use of the default Linden viewer is restricted to occasional testing sessions and all my SL friends use the FS as well so I have no comparative data. Does anyone reading this use it and can comment?
  23. I have encountered a great many avatars not able to rez in the past 30 minutes, I myself did not rez to quite a few of them when I asked. I wonder is there a problem? I see nothing on the Status Page yet.
