  1. It's not the digital good itself that is getting taxed, but rather the acquisition of the digital good with real currency. When you buy or sell $L with real money, you are charged tax on that transaction. When you buy land directly with real money, you are taxed on that transaction as well. In both cases, you are exchanging real currency for a digital good. The error comes when you think of $L as currency. $L is NOT currency. It is a digital good. So, when you pay for something with $L, you are trading digital goods for other digital goods, not trading currency for digital goods. Those digital goods were ALREADY taxed when they were purchased. The value was added when the L$ was purchased, and that transaction WAS taxed. The whole reason internal $L transactions are not taxed is because the $L themselves were ALREADY taxed. The value add occurs when the $L enters or exits the SL economy, and that is where the taxation occurs with $L related transactions. In your example, yes, the fake coin transactions themselves would not be taxable, but the part where the customers buy the fake coins IS taxable and you would be expected to pay VAT on that transaction. It's not dodging taxes at all, the taxation just occurs at a different part of the chain. Think of an old school video arcade. You would go in and buy a bunch of tokens to play the games. You would be charged VAT on buying those tokens. You then play games with the tokens and win some tickets. You exchange the tickets for a toy at the front counter. That exchange of tickets for the toy was not taxed because you ALREADY paid the tax when you bought the tokens. It's the same thing with $L. Now consider this: If I go to the exchange and buy enough $L to pay for a sim, I would be charged tax on that. If I then used that $L that I just bought and paid tax on to pay for a sim, should I be taxed AGAIN? In such case I'd then be paying DOUBLE the tax compared to someone who simply paid for the sim with real currency. Is that fair?
  2. Created here: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/BUG-232726
  3. Well, didn't take long. It hung on me while I was going through and configuring it as close to what I had in Firestorm as possible. Same deal, stopped responding for a bit, then came back, just like in Firestorm.
  4. It's mostly Firestorm, though it did happen in an older build of the official viewer. I suppose I could try the latest and see if I can get it to happen again there.
  5. Does the viewer purge the logs on every start? The logs I'm seeing are in the kilobytes in size. Either way, I'll be sure to see if the logs are filling up next time it happens. I have not tried moving the cache to another storage, I suppose I could try that, though I have not noticed any other issues with my system that would indicate something up with that SSD.
  6. I already checked AV exclusions and went through an AV-related troubleshooting session. It did include going through that article you speak of. Also, the pattern of freezing doesn't match the scans my AV does. I am pretty confident is is not AV.
  7. I've been having an intermittent freezing issue that has been really annoying me for months. Primary viewer: Firestorm 64 6.6.3 Viewers also effected: Previous FS versions. Official viewer. Catznip. (Prior builds on both, don't remember numbers off top of head) System Info: CPU: Ryzen 9 5900X GPU: RX 5700XT (Also happened under a GTX 970 as well) RAM: 32GB Storage viewers installed on: M.2 SSD 1TB OS: Win 10 21H1 Issue: Viewer will at times hang, windows will report viewer as not responding. After a variable amount of time from a couple of seconds to a couple of minutes, it will come back, but often when it does it has been long enough that the simulator has not received communication from my viewer for long enough that the simulator terminates my login session, I guess thinking I DC'd. I have tried opening another window and minimizing the hung window repeatedly. Not sure if this actually is doing anything, but it at least feels like it is. It does seem to happen more often when I open up dialog boxes such as user profiles, and especially the texture change window when changing textures on objects. But it also happens when just hanging out on the grid. I see no pattern to these random instances other than it happening more often on crowded regions. If I have two instance of the viewer running, only one will hang. The other will not. This leads me to believe that this is not related to GPU drivers or similar. This is a pretty beefy system, and I am no where near maxing out any resources when the viewer locks-up. Things I have tried: - Clean Reinstall - Making sure viewers are excluded from AV (Please note I have already gone through a session of AV related troubleshooting. I am quite confident that the issue is NOT AV at this point) - GPU and chipset driver updates - Running viewer alone without other software running - Issue even persisted after an unrelated OS reinstall - Different graphics cards, one AMD, one NVIDIA - Different viewers and viewer versions I did have someone suggest in a Firestorm support chat that it might be hanging trying to access a cache or a log file. But I had nothing suggested how to test that beyond the before-mention AV troubleshooting.
