  1. when a object has been manually attached from inventory then the avatar has by implication already given permission to attach/detach the script can then ask for attach/detach permission and it is silently granted while the object is attached have a look at the script example on the wiki to see how it works: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/LlDetachFromAvatar
  2. ... ur stuffs ? you not leaving SL but sometimes when get really mad then can start chucking stuffs if so can you chuck the stuffs at me please (:

Could be tricky to do without the layers anyway, depending on what changes are required. yes agree i think OP be better off entering into RL contracts with texture makers to port the textures to other meshes, outside of SL Given the ever-increasing number of different mesh bodies and specific made garments for each body then could be some advantage for a texture maker in this. To employ somebody to do the conversion work, allowing the texture maker to focus on design anything other than this is just a hassle for texture makers I think. Even with full perms texture sets supplied inworld, there is still a lot of hassle with copyrights, derivative works and so on
  4. on the legal opinion: Section III http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Second_Life_Skill_Game_Guidelines#REASONED_LEGAL_OPINIONS_MUST_ATTEST_TO_A_GAME.E2.80.99S_LEGALITY_IN_ALL_PERMITTED_JURISDICTIONS + about games like No Devil and similar i never seen the scripts for this game, but for it to be ToS compliant (a game of skill) then it goes something like: these games can be won without getting a bonus. Winning in this sense means you get your money back when you play skillfully, minus a fee for playing. Charging a fee to play a game of skill is not illegal bonuses gained during gameplay are offered to draw people in, and have no bearing on whether a player can win the game the total bonus pool available to players is typically equal to the total sum of money not returned to ("won") by the less skilful players if all players were equally skilful then they would all get their money back, minus the playing fee i think where the ToS (> Policy > Guidelines) could use work is that operators should be required to publish what the fee is that they charge people to play + eta: i just add something to think about am not saying that the operators of No Devil actual do this. I just add it as something for people to be aware of when playing any kind of skill game bc winining the game is not dependent on gaining a gameplay bonus, then a operator doesnt have to give all players a equal chance to obtain a bonus + eta more, for completeness the design of games of skill are typically based on the "noughts and crosses" game principle. A skilful player who moves second will draw the game when a first move skilful player doesnt make a mistake. The first mover will win when the second mover makes a mistake when neither player makes a mistake then is a draw everytime, and both players get their money back minus the operators fee
  5. i think the plan is that somebody makes a texture then sells it to a customer No-Trans the customer can then as a contract condition: Export the texture, convert it to fit another mesh, re-import into SL and apply to the other mesh. The condition is that the re-imported texture is also no-Trans (perms-wise it isnt, contractually it is) OP's idea is to provide a service to do this. Is doable pretty seamlessly as a TPV mod this a downside is that the converted texture wont bear the original artist as the SL named creator. It would bear OP (or surrogate) as the SL named creator, and the customer would receive the converted texture from OP as No-Trans. We are excluded by ToS to upload stuff into SL in another accounts name the converted texture would then be a derivative work created by OP. Which is where I think it gets expensive for the customer to buy the original texture it also leaves OP in RL possession of bunches of original textures, even tho OP is morally and/or contractually bound not to do anything with them, other than for the stated purpose altogether while is a good idea for customers, and for OP, I am not really seeing anything much in it for the original texture maker
  6. i should of just link to Seanchai. Is here: http://irelandslstory.blogspot.co.nz/ is a few different things they get into. Some things like one off talks and that can be at different times depending on where the host/speaker is in the RL. Most of it is literary but a lot of the peeps are into other high brow stuffs as well, and are in other such groups and orgs as well probably best to pick any old thing from the schedule closest to your timezone, turn up and go from there + also not sure if the Ladies and Gentlemen of Caledon still do drawing room tea and polite stimulating conversation, but they used to quite regular. Maybe somebody from there can say I remember going to Caledon when Ordinal Malaprop gave a talk there. Was pretty cool. Ordinal Malaprop is legend If you ever fired a turret gun, or drove in a tank battle, or played pirate ships on the Blake, then none of this would of happened if not for Ordinal, who worked out all the rotational and physics calcs back in the day, and pretty much told everybody who was prepared to pay attention and listen, how to do it what I personal know about all this stuff I learned of her, while sitting in a crinoline dress in a Caledon drawing room, having tea and cucumber sandwiches. and cake (: eta typsos
  7. i dont want a job. I can tho tell you what I know about people first you have to decide if you a venue/club or a bar/cafe in the first (venue/club) the draw is a performance (DJ, live or theatre, or event) people come for the event/performance and then socialise sometimes in the second (bar/cafe) they come to socialise, to chat, to converse. Or to listen to the chat without necessarily being involved in it themselves, yet they like the comfort that people talking brings to them with conversation then need hosties who can chat about anything anytime everytime, to keep conversation flowing when it slows. Basically the hostie needs to be disciplined about not chatting in IM, to keep everything they say in open chat another thing you can do is instead of hiring DJs is hire speakers, readers and story tellers, who will give a talk, and take questions. Which is conversation and why people will come. To be part of and/or just listen to the conversation + the simplist thing of all, is to make your bar cafe, a actual bar cafe. Stand behind a actual bar and serve drinks, coffee, tea and bar food even. Can get these props made to work with Experiences. Is quite cool like you behind your bar, person comes in. Hi! what can I get you ? They go: long black please. And you give it to them. Basically is a bar cafe. Is not a self-serve then you offer them the newspaper or magazine to read with their coffee. If they take it and start read it (wear/anim) then they just chilling out. So just come by them every 10/15 minutes about, depending on how busy the place is and ask them if they want a refill if they dont take a mag or paper, then do what every bartender ever does. Start making small talk in the chat. Hows your day been sir ? Lovely hair ma'am. Like the shoes dude. Great ink mate. If I ever had a gf I would like her to wear heels like that. etc etc the secret to bar cafe conversation is that it doesnt have to be witty. Just plain ordinary conversation. Constant witticisms tends to turn people off, who just come in for a quiet drink and a relaxed conversation when people find these places, SL and RL, then they come back. They stop coming back when you (the hostie/bartender who is a conversationalist) stops conversing. Conversation being the glue that binds the regulars to a bar cafe, RL and SL
  8. you might want to start attending events inworld run by the literati who do morning and afternoon tea, and lunch (: Some of the lunches and talks and chat can get pretty high level without toffee-nosing anyone thru these events then will lead you to other events, friends and discussion groups a place to start with is these guys who are good people: https://modemworld.me/2016/07/17/mysterious-lodgers-road-trips-memoirs-and-odysseys/
  9. Ilithios Liebknecht wrote: ... LL's determination of what games of skill are could use some work. They ban poker (a definite game of skill) and yet allow No Devil and gambling Greedy machines which, while there is some skill invlolved, are primarily games of chance. just on this part. LL dont determine what is, and what is not, a game of skill, hazard or chance is also not quite true this about poker. Poker is a game of hazard. Combines skill and chance. Hazard is a legal term in this case. The more skilful players will win more over the long run, but they wont win everytime bc chance games of hazard are specifically outlawed in most US jurisdictions. And by US federal law, the transfer of monies to play games of hazard online is specifically outlawed. The games are not outlawed, the transfer of monies is also as well. With poker then there is US legal precedent already established. The US Justice Dept shut down the online poker rooms for US residents. Which kinda sucks for lots of US people, but has everything to do with the US Congress and nothing to do with companies like LL + how games like No Devil are able to be hosted in SL then need to read the ToS. Which specific says that whether a game is a game of skill, hazard or chance is a legal definition, and the host/promoter of a game must get their own legal opinion of their game also the way judicial law works in the USA is the Chain of Trust which is a legal construct under the Proscriptive Principle of common law. Basically is Safe Harbour, a legal opinion obtained from a reputable lawyer can be acted on in good faith (trusted by all persons affected down the chain) until a actual Court orders otherwise basically if anyone wanted to contest No Devil then they would need to challenge in a US Court, the legal opinion obtained by the owner of this game. A legal challenge that LL are not required to do to retain Safe Harbour for themselves, bc Chain of Trust

Bitsy Buccaneer wrote: If you offered some sort of appliers service, the permissions system is such that it would force creators to give you their textures with full permissions. just about the full perms. i think OP is proposing that if own the applier and the texture, then the person could put the texture into the applier and then apply to any mesh that they own. In which case the texture wouldnt have to be Transfer on the surface is a good idea from the users pov. Just not sure how many texture makers would sell their textures on this basis. Would be some I think, just not sure how many makers would, and what the cost of the textures might be to make it financial worthwhile for the texture maker eta: i just add for clarity. Am pretty sure OP is talking about a applier system for own personal use, and not for resale items
  11. if ever make your own vehicle then can stop pretty much all camera and anim breakage on sim crossings if pause the script by polling for the avatar on sim changed. Polling also fixes a lot of AO anim and HUD camera breakages on sim crossings as well the basics of polling is here: https://community.secondlife.com/t5/LSL-Scripting/Clearing-camera-params-on-unsits-issue/td-p/2845802

  13. a thing is that the spammer most likely has nothing to do with the club ownership is most likely just some butthurt guy who got banned from there, and has been on a baww ever since, trying to bring that club into disrepute given the volume of spams then I think is more a butthurt bawbag doing it than the club owner(s). Spamming the JIRA in the 1000s and 1000s is a defo butthurt move
  14. i dont mean to discourage you but textures is what makes a outfit an outfit. Quality textures make quality outfits. Without textures, mesh is pretty much lumps of plastic am not sure that any of the quality texture makers are going to give out their textures copy/mod to do exactly what you intend. Which is take a texture and mod/copy it onto any and all other mesh garments that the user wishes they might but I think the users be looking at substantial higher prices for this 2 * mesh + 2 * texture = 2 garments = 2 sales for the same creator N * mesh + 1 * texture = N garments = 1 sale for the same creator + other thing that you might want to check is with the creators of the 'freebie' textures. Lots of what we think of as freebie resources inworld are actually rips. Not all, as there are some actual freebies legit released as such. Just not as many as we might think sometimes
  15. Phil Deakins wrote: You were close, saying it's 2 minutes. It's actually 5 seconds - you were only 115 seconds out i must click really fast then. jejjeje (: i remember breaking the anim and the camera on one sim crossing. jumped off and jumped back on to fix it (:
  16. test the delete delay time before setting off. I think is 2 minutes but not absolutely exactly sure, I might be misremembering. Has been ages since I had a go. (Test by rez the car, drive it onto the road, then unsit and see how long) eta; typso
  17. is so that if we block someone by mistake (like a shopkeeper) then can still get the stuff we buy
  18. the rally is a distance race. How far can you go. The time taken is secondary. The distance travelled is measured in crow flies so it doesnt matter what route you take. In my case in the Cliffoed rally I went thru 207 sims to get to the end. Phil and Hugsy (who on the podium as well) went shorter routes, thru less sims it took me over 3 hours. Is 32kms [as crow flies]. My avg. speed was 9kph. So over 3 hours. If look at Phil's speed then he is going at 18kph avg. So will do it in less than 2 hrs + just a hint in terms of time and safety then as far as possible go on the oceans. Like with the Cliffoed go north to the ocean and then west. Is a lot faster and less laggy and safer (assuming the grid is not getting funky when you have a go and crashes you) also, the car has about a 2min delay before it deletes itself if you stand (or are unseated on a sim crossing) so can get back on and not lose the car if you quick. Used to be insta-delete as soon as unsit, so Elysian changed it to a delay to make it less harsh when have a difficult sim crossing and somehow get unseated eta [crow flies]
  19. yes southwest corner of Pounce is the farest can go + eta: on the race map the official finish line is at road end in Bagheera. I just kept going after I reached that when I done it, Elysian never update the map for some weeks. Doesnt log in all that often. Can maybe send her a IM and when she gets then will update the map to mark where you are we had a quick chat about why I was so slow. I explain about having to sit and wait for some of the sims to come up at the time. So was all good + eta more: pps i just explain about waiting for sims to come up. I think will be useful info for any kind of travellers who get killed on sim crossings since LL changed the grid so that sims idle down when unused, then we have wait at the sim border until the next sim (if idle) spins back up fully. Go to early and crasho to tell when the next sim is back up fully, watch the minimap when the next sim is fully up and the sim server knows that you are there (bc within draw distance of the sim) the minimap graphic image for that sim is fully detailed. Wait until it is then cross, and unless is a internets backbone network issue between you and the next sim server then you good to go and no crasho

BUT make a rule with yourself, try to make it at all costs. Sim crossing crashes, orbs, ban lines, friends IMing you so you run off world while sailing those silly little protected passages the Lab created... the lot. Make it a challenge and see if your skills are good enough to make it. dunno if you had a go at this Callum yet. So i just put it here, and also for anyone else who might want to have a go try the Starchild Rally. We have to drive a bumper/hover car that we dont own. (it goes on the water as well) the short rally is from Sistiana to Dali. Start here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Sistiana/218/85/27 has only ever been 3 people to make it to Dali. Phil was the last person to complete, so he is the current holder of the gold cup. Hugsy was the first. So if you complete then you will move to the gold cup. Phil to silver and Hugsy to bronze + the long Starchild Rally is here. Cliffoed to Pounce. Start here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Cliffoed/47/196/38 only one person has completed so far. Altho is about 5 other people who are still seriously in the hunt, and lots of others who have another go, now and again + i think these rallys are the hardest and most difficult mainland vehicle competitions. bc we dont own the vehicles and if we get killed for any reason and lose the vehicle, then we have to start all over again from the beginning also as well, the system tracks and reports on our progress in real-time, so that claims are automatic verified which tends to confirm who achieved what in a unbiased way. Which I think encourages people to keep coming back time after time, to have another go
  21. thanks (: + when look at this map then can see that the number of red parcels is relative small compared to all the parcels on the route is pretty much true this as well for most of the mainland grid. When we do hit a banline or get murdered by a orb, like more than once in a session, or have a bad run over a few days, then can sometimes seem that the whole world is out to kill us deliberately + when as you say, when asked, lots of people will respond quite positively when asked if they can put some time delay on greater than 0. Quite often people (particularly newish people) will get a orb and just plonk it down and press Go same when they newish and put the parcel banlines on, to protect their skybox at 4000m. They just dunno what they dunno. So when they find out then they just go oh! sorry, and take the banlines down. bc they now know that the parcel banline doesnt do the job that they thought it did, and they go get a orb for their skybox

I'm not good at creating those myself a way to get started with mesh is make stuff with prims and then use a TPV (Firestorm or Singularity for example) to export them to Collada dae format, and then re-import them as mesh it will give you a idea of what it is your stuff should look like to begin with, when you also start importing them into tools like Blender, to start working on your mesh modelling skills to save a lot of money in terms of upload fees then can either go on the SL Beta grid, or my personal preference when learning this stuff, is to install a private Opensim on your computer and use that to help learn your way into Blender make stuff with prims on your private Opensim, export to collada. The advantage with this is that can use as many prims as you like to make complex curved shapes. Import and examine/mod/play with it in Blender, looking to optimise your model, reduce/remove unnecessary triangles, faces, etc. [Re-import into your Opensim and see what the effects are ] when you kinda got a idea with how it all works, then go on the SL beta grid and upload and see what is. When have got a idea of how that all works then upload to main grid as you do this you begin to get a good idea of how to mod stuff (how the tools work) in Blender. From which you will eventual be able to make stuff direct in Blender and direct upload to SL eta [ ]
  23. like Alwin I would also like to know what materials are you meaning ?
  24. (: it comes out sometimes, usually when the other person kinda gets it and knows how the what if this and that storytells games go. I do it sometimes inworld as well with people who get it. Can end up be a bit silly sometimes but is quite fun to do (: Have to be careful tho with who you do storytells with, bc sometimes some people dont get it
