  1. is quite fascinating to me the idea of flight between distant sims, continents, worlds even a way it can be done is to allow the user to determine for themselves the time they want their teleports to take some people would want insta-teleport like now, and others would go the other way. Like how far away in distance is my destination, divide it by the speed of my vehiclet, and it will take me X time to complete which would be pretty boring if all we looked at was a black Teleport screen for the whole time + what I think would cool, is to make a whole other scene during the teleport time. Like we can right-click and jump into our craft, sailing boat, or car, or plane, or space craft, which ever. And the background scene would show appropriately. Sea, road, sky, space, etc as we choose for our vehicle type and we could even be able to texture and furnish our inter-sim vehicles. Gypsy live in them even, if we wanted like on a long journey to the bar at the end universe, we can walk round, sort our invent, change outfits, chat IM to our groups and friends, build even and out our ports we can see other vehicles travelling the lanes also and when arrive at our destination then we teleported automagically out of our vehicles (with some warning time that landfall is approaching) and avatar landed on the destination sim would be way cool this

There is no type of "I"ndigenous people who do this are often well-meaning, but even more often they have no idea how insulting this actually is they are all wrapped in a desire to somehow help these unfortunate Indigenous peoples, by changing the way they are labelled, to raise "A"wareness, so these "U"fortunates can be "S"een to be "S"pecial, so "S"omething can be "D"one what this kinda labelling does, is to practically create even more division than there already is. There is zero benefit in this for anyone other than making the person(s) doing it get the fuzzies thats a real big help. Woohoo! we been leveled up from being called Indians to Indigenouses i am not Indigenous. I am Ngapuhi and then as Ngapuhi (or as Apache or Cherokee or Sioux or whichever) I would like to discuss with you the issues regarding some breaches of the agreement/treaty/contract that we entered into in good faith with you guys, as you did with us. With the view we can reach a resolution, and move on together there is nothing special about either of us actually doing this and I and lots of others like me would much rather we did this, than be levelled up to be the "P"oster "C"hild of the "U"fortunate
  3. what you have written Freya makes a lot a sense to me. Helps to explain what is happening and why that is. You are certaintly not alone in your peer group in any country today that is premised on democracy, in a world where we are now swamped with information and swamped with a multitude of opinion and argument on what that information might mean, and how we might use that in practicals ways. Both the information, and the opinions and arguments thanks Freya (:

White 74 U.S.700 (1868) the text is here: https://www.law.cornell.edu/supremecourt/text/74/700 the US Supreme Court (the guardian of the US Constitution) ruled that unilateral secession by a State is unconstitutional. They further ruled that seccession by a State from the United States can only be achieved either by revolution, or by the agreement of the other States your belief that you somehow have a 'right to secede' is constitutionally unfounded to secede then either get the consent of the other States. Or rip up the US Constitution and decide the matter by war, again these are the only realworld choices you do have. Anything else is magical thinking + people who dont know their history, often misunderstand about the southern States of the USA when the old Southron States left the Union as they did by revolution, then they disenfranchised their whole State insofar as any US constitutional rights applied to them as States, and the people who joined themselves to the CSA, gave up their US citizenship thru this also when they lost the war, then the Southron States no longer existed constitutionally. The south States that are here today were re-constituted under the US Constitution. As they had to be. And re-admitted into the Union as new States the constitutional Reconstruction of the United States of America and everyone who had bore arms against the United States, and/or had declared for the CSA, were refused admittance to citizenship of the newly-constituted States it took the work of people like President Johnson and Robert E. Lee to allow the declared and proven enemies (by act of war) of the United States to be granted State citizenship of the newly-constituted states, and subsequent citizenship of the USA + is what I meant by naming Robert Lee, as the last of the Southron gentlemen. He was. There are no Southrons left. They all died with him He was also a massive racist, but at least he understood the peril facing his own people had he done something really stupid and fought to the last man he was a soldier and a good one. When your enemy has you surrounded, commands the high ground, and their cannon are massed, and your enemy opponent puts the question: What is your wish sir ? and knowing full well that your opponent is also a soldier and will oblige you either way. This is not going to be a fight to the last man. Is going to be a slaughter. All of my soldiers are going to die today, if that is what I wish Lieutenant-Colonel Robert E. Lee, Commander of the Army of Virginia, weighed all this up. Also understanding full well that after his army had been slaughtered to the last man, the enemy army would have marched thru Virginia and also slaughtered anyone else who resisted, and then proceeded to march south to link up with the army marching north, and slaughtering anyone else who resisted is what soldiers do. Slaughter their enemies until there are no enemies. Or until the enemy gives it up so Robert E. Lee wished for his soldiers to live. And for the US armies to not march, so that his people might live. Defeated, but alive. And his enemy respected his wish. And the descendants of the once Southron people, are alive today bc of him, R. E. Lee and their descendants are alive and US citizens today, bc their ancestors, the Southrons, accepted US citizenship when it was offered to them as a act of reconciliation + i just say that is heaps of people in the US South who know all this stuff. They are gracious, cordial, well-educated, knowlegeable and really good people is only a few who arent really. And as each generation passes there is less and less of these few. And getting fewer as time passes

  7. is similar to the RL club scene. Is a lot more expensive to open a RL than a SL one for sure. The motivation is the same tho, and when people have the resources and desire then they do it some club ventures are able to sustain themselves for years. Others dont, for all kinds of reasons some reasons are down to the owners getting in to it, without any management experience to start with. And as they get into further, they find it can turn out to be a bit different to what they once thought. Others simply bc their club/venue p.o.d was based on a passing fad. And other reasons as well i think is all good tho, that people can open whatever they want. Is the same with shops and parks and gardens and education facilities etc. Just go for it, and I wish people all the best in whatever they choose to do + ps. just as a aside it could be a whole lot worse (: like you have to get a license off LL to open a club or shop or other such public venue venture. That would be quite suxy I think, when work thru the ramifications of venture licensing

The law still seems toothless to defend these children in the face of family members choosing to remain silent. In the latest disgraceful case the guilty plea was changed from murder to manslaughter something that most of us still cannot comprehend. As for the legal consequences in our country the sentance for murder is 10yrs which can be considerably shortened for good behaviour in prison. For manslaughter less than half of 10yrs. This is the end of this conversation from my point of view. We are both totally off topic and I have said all I want to say on the subject. is not about what it seems. Is about what it is suggest that you look stuff up and read it try: http://www.cyf.govt.nz/about-us/key-statistics/ for an independent take on the numbers. CPAG http://www.cpag.org.nz/assets/Publications/130729%20CPAG%20Child%20Abuse%20Report%202%20July%202013.pdf the Child Poverty Action Group found that when compiling their report the decrease in violence perpetrated on chidren amongst those who identify to CYPS as ethnic european has now fallen to the point where any statistical analysis relating to this group is statistically meaningless the question CPAG asks is: Why has it not fallen similarly for those who identify to CYPS as maori and pasifika ? + eta. I just want to add something here i would recommend to anyone interested to have quick look at page 7. of the CPAG report. The graph: Figure 1 is pretty interesting and is on topic. The graph shows the volumes of complaints by broad catergory CYPS now get more complaints about Emotional, than they do Sexual, Physical and Neglect combined one day hopefully Sexual, Physical and Neglect will be zero. and CYPS just end up spending all their time dealing with emotionals for sure some verbals in families can get pretty rough sometimes, but as a person who sits at the kitchen table with these families in my day job, I rather be talking to people about how they feel, than having to help the families deal with the wreckage caused by the other 3

Lee Mr Lee actually supported and advocated consistently and constantly for the Reconciliation he can tell you himself in his own words please go here: https://archive.org/stream/personalreminis00jonegoog#page/n252/mode/2up + am going to copy one of his letters here: "Near Cartersville, Va., August 28, 1865. Hon. John Letcher, Lexington, Va. My Dear Sir: I was much pleased to hear of your return to your home, and to learn by your letter of the 2d of the kindness and consideration with which you were treated during your arrest, and of the sympathy extended to you by your congressional associates and friends in Washington. The conciliatory manner in which President Johnson spoke of the South must have been particularly agreeable to one who has the interests if its people so much at heart as yourself. I wish that spirit could become more general. It would go far to promote confidence, and to calm feelings which have to long existed. The questions which for years were in dispute between the State and General Government, and which unhappily were not decided by the dictates of reason, but referred to the decision of war, having been decided against us, it is the part of wisdom to acquiesce in the result, and of candor to recognize the fact. The interests of the State are therefore the same as those of the United States. Its prosperity will rise or fall with the welfare of the country. The duty of its citizens, then, appears to me too plain to admit of doubt. All should unite in honest efforts to obliterate the effects of war, and to restore the blessings of peace. They should remain, if possible, in the country; promote harmony and good feeling; qualify themselves to vote; and elect to the State and general Legislatures wise and patriotic men, who will devote their abilities to the interests of the country, and the healing of all dissensions. I have invariably recommended this course since the cessation of hostilities, and have endeavored to practise it myself. I am much obliged to you for the interest you have expressed in my acceptance of the presidency of Washington College. If I believed I could be of advantage to the youth of the country, I should not hesitate. I have stated to the committee of trustees the objections which exist in my opinion to my filling the position, and will yield to their judgement. Please present me to Mrs. Letcher and your children, and believe me most truly yours, R. E. Lee"

It started when everyone got a participation trophy just for showing up, cheapening the meaning of getting a trophy/award for an achievement, whether it be in spelling or running the fastest. is really interesting this. Maybe is a US kinda way of thinkiing bc I dont get it we do this a lot with children, give them rewards just for being children children like getting rewards and treats. and we give them lots for just having a go. Doesnt matter what the outcome of them having a go is. That they had a go is whats important. Better than not having a go winning is good for sure, and everybody including the kids will always take the win when they can. Not having a go tho is not good at all + is the same approach we take with sports. Rugby and netball are the ones we do best at internationally in netball with the juniors, is all about turning up and playing. Same with junior rugby. Just turn up and go hard for the whole game and every boy and every girl in every team gets a prize in most teams. Whatever the score was and if their team is running up a big score, then they are expected to do that by us, and by themselves, right until the end of the game. No mercy. At all. Put a 100 on them, kids. 200 if you can is this second part that balances the first part. And that attitude flows all the way up to the national teams. Go hard right up the actual end. Dont go soft on the opposition, at all, ever + is a article about this by Kris Shannon in our weekend paper. Comparing how we see this compared to how would be seen in the US apparently what the All Blacks did in the 1st Test against Australia this year would be seen as unsporting in the US the hooter had gone for fulltime. The All Blacks were up by 40 points. They had the ball and it was still in play. So they played to put more points on the board, instead of kicking the ball out upon which the ref would have whistled game over and we go: Why wouldnt they do that ? the game is not over until the whistle goes. As the purpose of the game, is to put points on the board, right up until the end. For sure, the All Blacks had already won the game, but they still went for more points tho that they had actually already won the game had nothing to do with anything at all, far as the players, and we watching, were concerned

  12. i still have a tail. Old school flexiprims. Old school SL neko classic style i did have a kemono and went down that path for a while. Same like lots of other neko have done. Not just with kemono but other bodies and heads as well is pretty good what people are able to do with these bodies and heads. And a gate, and the tractor, and the whole farm even sometimes is something we say to each other in my peer group. Like someone goes: I am so outrage !!! And we go: You wants a farm with that ?? (: + is a surface component of bigger wider issues this tho, when we consider whats happening on our campuses and in companies and other organisations and groupings, and in societal-wide structures like law and that. And the subsequent changes that result as people ordinarily are now enabled to have more direct personal access to knowledge and information. Far more so than previous generations had issues with deep wide underlying multiple causations, once we get into it. And as such arguments made for and against, can range from the serious to the frivolous to the vexatious i just think that is important when we thinking about all this kinda stuff to look at the causations from as many perspectives as we can + what the professor has to ask of themself is: Is my own behaviour a causation, and if so then what should I do about it myself for myself and when not then as a learned professor I am easily able to dismiss such allegations with rational argument and sound thought. Easily showing them to be vexatious and unfounded and not just dismiss the need to make that argument, just bc I (professior) feel that I should not have to you are a professor, professor. If you cant actual make that argument, for any reason at all, then you need think about your continued role as a intellectual leader on the campus, a rational thinking thought leader responsible for nurturing the education of the students in your classroom

Children are still being badly injured and murdered by their own families. The bill I believed passed by a narrow margin. it passed 113 to 7, after as you are aware we had a massive nationwide debate about adults using physical violence on children, and defending the violence they were enacting on children as reasonable force. Kiwi children are now protected by law from adults using this as a defence for their actions we also have laws against murder. The law in itself doesnt stop people from murdering others. There are legal consequences tho when we do murder someone else
  15. am not up with the Cutesy AO personally but it will work like all other AOs rez and edit the AO like you have done already before in the Contents you will find a notecard which lists all of the animations used by the AO. For each state. Walk, Run, Sit, Fly, Turn, etc etc you need to edit the notecard, and remove the names of the animations you have deleted, and save. Then reload/import the notecard after you have edited it. There should be a button on the AO HUD that will let you do this once you get the notecard edited correctly and reloaded/imported then you wont get the error message

They are not mutually inclusive + is another article I read maybe 2 weeks ago now. I will try find it again and link if is worth any further discussion was article about the author's involvement in work that has been ongoing since about the 1970s. Cultural Awareness and Diversity in the Workplace. Culture also encompassing gender, sexual orientation as well as race what happened was that large employers, by and large, embraced this as an ideal for their companies. So all good then what happened was that the author and others involved in helping companies create programmes and environments noticed something quite interesting language, and how it was being used to shield people from reality. Like they noticed that HR would say stuff like: We need to get a Culturally Diverse person for this role. Instead of saying we need to hire a black person, or a woman, or whichever and then they noticed that this kinda way of language shielding was right across the workforces of quite a number of companies, at all kinds of levels top to bottom so what they did was to change their approach. They now just call the programmes what they actually are. Anti-Racism In The Workplace, Anti-Sexism in The Workplace, etc. A spade is a spade what they have since found thru this spade is a spade approach that people are actually now confronting the actual issues as it relates to them personally meaning that previously being seen as somewhat casually insensitive to cultural awareness and diversity, doesnt necessarily make me a bad person however, being somewhat insensitive to racist tendencies and sexist tendencies is not something a person can easily excuse. Thats the reality now, for lots of people who do work for these companies, and have to deal with. Their own casual insensitivities toward racism, sexism, etc. And lots of people go: faaaa.ch ! really ! I have to actually deal with this myself

  18. is that the young people, these students and many others of the same age, are talking back far more so than any previous generations is not enough anymore for them to take what they are told to do without question, or accept it even. They will articulate their concerns. And if/when their elders are unable or unwilling to explain themselves, thats an issue for the elders to address in themselves + i just touch on the elder thing. Respect for our elders back in the day we respected our elders bc our elders had earned the right to be old. Only the wise got to be old. All the silly people never got old. They never made it to old. They got killed bc silly, or stupid, or unlucky or just plain unfortunate. Was quite a feat to actual end up as a old person back in the day. Well-earned even we didnt respect them bc they were old. We respected them bc they were wise today we dont get killed anywhere near the same rate. So lots of people who are silly and/or stupid end up old. Silly/stupid gets zero respect, no matter how old the person is + i was at a hui one time with my great grandmother. A old man got up and start rabbit on and on. And on and on and on. About nothing after a long while my great grandmother rise and cut him down. She said: I have known you all your life. You were stupid as a young man and you are still stupid now in your dotage. We all here have cows to milk in 2 hours time. Except for you. So sit down now, you are done
  19. i would suggest looking into putting one together yourself suggest that Oracul (on Kuso sim inworld) have heaps of AO animations for 10L each they also provide a free AO HUD which you can load the anims into and fill in the provided notecard with the names of the anims you have chosen they have a lot of anims of all kinds, and lots where the hands/arms dont go near the breasts. Is just a matter of jumping on all the display & purchase stands, and going thru them and picking the ones you want. Most walk and sit anims also come in various heights. 155cm, 185cm and 215cm. And when so then you get all 3 for the 10L

  21. i will put the counter-argument bc seems theres whole bunches of old people currently writing articles whining about young people + todays parent generation have raised their millenial children from birth to be caring and sharing, to be understanding and considerate of others, and also to speak their minds when others are inconsiderate in my country we have taken this to a level that few other countries have yet. Is a crime here to physically discipline a child, including your own. bc of this, what a parent must do is to teach their children how to live without correctional violence a consequence of this teaching from infancy, is that children learn that not only is not right for them to be subjected to physical violence, it is also not right for them to be subjected to verbal violence. And when they are then they will speak their minds as they have been raised and taught to do. And they are also taught from infancy to articulate their points and wants, and to not cry to get their own way some of the older generation often dont know how to deal with a very young person looking them straight in the eye, and telling them that they (the young person) are not going to accept or put up with the older persons verbal nonsense often these older people then start whining themselves, about these young people doing this to them (the old person) today. Not like in their day when as once young people themselves, they were constantly told to stfu and only speak when spoken to, to show some respect for their elders, etc etc this can be quite difficult for some older people to deal with. The children and young people are not thin-skinned. These older people are. They cant handle the level of rational argument and debate coming out of the mouths of what to them are babies. Particularly when the old person is being brought to task over their verbal violence like a old person (like a professor for example) makes some jokey misogynist comment as their way of correcting another person the young person will then just straight out say to them: Why would you say that ? And the old person goes: It was just a joke !! And the young person goes: Nobody is laughing, and its quite hurtful to say chit like that to that other person, and then proceeds to give the old person, chapter and verse and then the old person goes off and whines to other old people about thinskinned young people

  23. yes I agree with your thought processes Rolig I think that we do have to trust the LSL server to do its job. It can get really murky when we dont. Things can get way over-complicated really quickly when we go all murky on ourselves
  24. i like when people ask these kinda questions. They raise all kinda other questions for us to have to think about as you mention, stuff to think about like: 1) how do we check on startup the calibration of the server clock ? probably the safest way to do this is to check it against another clock running independently on a different server over which we have more control. Like our own http time service for example and also while the LSL app is running then also do periodic calibration checks against our http time service 2) what do we do if an alarm doesnt go off at all (the timer doesnt fire). How can we know that ? i think that the safest solution would again be a independent http time service + a way to do this without an external time service is like you say, to fire the timer more frequently checking the time given us by the lsl server against the LSL app alarm time however this doesnt actually solve problem 2. What do we do if the timer doesnt fire at all ? And how can we know this for sure ? it can ameliorate the issue tho. Keep requesting the timer event at short(er) intervals and trust that one of our requests will actually fire, as close to the alarm time as is possible and like you say using a sensor to monitor the timer alarm. Is not a perfect solution this, bc I think that if the timer is not firing (or is only firing sporadically) then a sensor in the same script would most likely be affected similarly it maybe even that the alarm monitor could run in a separate lsl script and polls the alarm script. Yet with this then both scripts are dependent on the same server. So maybe better possibly, but not perfect either + like you and Rolig mention. For every solution looking for a problem to solve, theres a empty space just waiting to be scribbled on i like scribbling. Is fun (:
