  1. That's a common occurrence with rigged mesh objects attached to avatars when you're loading textures and rendering meshes. The best way to avoid it is to make sure that you log in to a region without too much clutter, to let your avatar render. It should sort itself within a few moments, but if the problem persists and only affects you, it might be worth trying to refresh your attachments (under avatar health), or by detaching and re-attaching the body parts.

    Skin talk

I don't know a whole lot about skins, but if it comes with a morphed ad ...
  3. 'Tis the season to be unpacking gifts. Neph has been standing on the photo platform most of the afternoon and evening trudging through the boxes - and whilst I quite like unboxing stuff without knowing what they are, it does bring me to a pet peeve of mine ... How varied and unpredictable, and generally archaic boxing methods people still use in this day and age. It's so simple. Take a prim, or your mesh model, or whatever it is that you want to use as your box - put the products into the box - and put a free 'click-to-unpack' script that works whether it's rezzed or attached, and just pick the box up, attach to HUD > Center, detach, and presto; a box that works whether you attach or rez it, and doesn't muck up your AO or throw scripts and animations in your face when you open it. It's just so infuriating when half of the boxes must be rezzed, and half go on your HUD/avatar - and you have no idea which do which, and if you rez a HUD it's two-dimensional so that you can't find it, and if you attach something that's supposed to be rezzed, you suddenly have an intricate prim sandcaslte stuck in your butt. The script I got has been around since at least 2010, and was entirely free, so how people who are serious enough about their SL business to partake in events can't put 5 minutes of thought into how their products are handed over to their customers-- Grr.
  4. I didn't consider that option - but then, I'm script blind and couldn't make a prim say 'hi' on touch without risking bringing the region down.
  5. Yes, it's possible. I can't remember where, but I've seen empty AO HUDs where you can put your own animations into it (and many AO HUDs are modifiable to let you add/remove animations from them). If you're using Firestorm, you can also make use of the Firestorm AO feature (which is highly recommended, as it reduces the amount of HUDs and scripts you've got on you). For info on the Firestorm AO feature, check this article: https://wiki.firestormviewer.org/animation_overrider
  6. Whenever people start talking pop music or shoes, I kind of tend to phase out ...
  7. ... You thought I'd know 'TayTay' was a reference to Taylor Swift? I'm still a bit fuzzy on who that even is.
  8. Do you even understand what that entails? Because I do, and it's not applicable to my statement. If you're going to stoop down to try to win an argument by pulling rhetorical fallacies out of your nose, at least pick one that makes sense. You seem to think that I'm suggesting that any one person should resolve the issue of poverty through a simple act of charity; that's not what I mean. I said 'help', contribute to the effort; it can be something as simple as giving some spare change when someone holds up a cup, or it can be a more involved effort of educating yourselves and others on an issue. I've worked for my home town's mission, and the vast majority of effort and money was raised voluntarily from private individuals and companies, rather than government funding. They feed, clothe, wash and shelter people, they help them by offering moral and language support in their dealings with the authorities - volunteer hairdressers come around on a regular basis to cut hairs and beards; it needn't be money out of your own pocket if there are none that you can give, just make an effort in whatever way that you can and feel comfortable with, and you're already doing more than most. But most people aren't like that, though. Most people would rather look out for themselves, or even make fun of those who are struggling to make themselves feel better - most teenagers and young adults would rather get a video on their phone of someone who's fallen over with their bike, than help them up, and most people are too afraid of having to get involved, so they just walk by and pretend as if they don't see. And that is very much a part of why I've resorted to misanthropy, why I choose to laugh at the stupidity of it all, rather than be crushed by the realization of the callousness of society. That's my experience, my perspective, and my opinion. I'm not propagating that anyone should share it - I honestly don't care what other people believe in. But to assume that I laugh because I'm privileged, and then accuse me of assuming, it's just juvenile. I have probably spent a larger portion of my time and my resources than most around here, in helping others. But it's no competition, and I'm certainly no saint; but rather than bickering or crying about it, I choose to act, even if I'm well aware that my efforts alone can only do so much - it's through the combined efforts of all those people involved, that we make progress.
  9. Yes. There's nothing in that statement that suggests that you couldn't possibly be already doing so, though; that's an interpretation you made by projecting a perceived intent to my statement that wasn't there.
  10. I made no claim that you didn't. What gives you the right to assume that I assume anything?
  11. So help them, rather than being sad about someone else not doing it.
  12. But why? You could just as well embrace it, and go bathing in a wood-fired tub; the contrasting sensation of the icy air above the surface against the warm water is amazing. Or you could do the traditional sauna and dip in a frozen lake. Or just roll in the snow. It's so good!
  13. Today is a good day. Started off by listening through Hanzel und Gretyl's new album whilst event-hopping and catching up with my correspondences. A ton of gifts from Access to sift through - but hey, one is a drunk teddy bear! Also a bunch of demos from a store that's apparently closing down at the end of the year, so they're throwing a sale. Also basking in the horrified cries of people who are displeased with the UK election - it's funny how Democracy is sacred, until things don't go your way; and how people whose achievements could be compiled at the backside of a bus ticket begin to cry out for revolution. I'm not taking sides, but being a sore loser is just unattractive. The Swedish election next year may well be going the same way, by the looks of it - the social democrats are weaker than ever, and their desperate quick-fixes and surreal alliances have only driven them further into the ground, fueling the nationalists' successes, and by breaking the conservative alliance they have now driven them into a national-conservative bloc. Perhaps putting a brainless welder at the helm wasn't such a great idea, after all. A government ruled by communists, centrists and liberals together - did anyone seriously think that it would work out? Sometimes, things must go worse before they can improve. The political discourse has been completely derailed by ever-increasing polarization, and the results of arrogant idealism are beginning to show. One in four swedes are now willing to vote for the party which has frequently been called 'Nazis', and with the support of the conservative moderates and christian democrats, they may well tilt the socialist government out of the saddle. In times like these, I'm glad that I can't find it within myself to actually, really care about politics. I just find it entertaining; a spectacular display of rampant ignorance and incompetence. .. On a lighter note; being that it's weekend, I'll be treating myself to the most luxurious cheese toast brunch - 18 month aged grevé cheese and real butter, on a wonderful piece of toast garnished with poppy seeds.
  14. To be honest, I'd rather live under the Czar than the murderous maniacs that took over.
  15. Nah. He looks like he just wants vanilla stuff, I'd get bored.
  16. I misread the thread title. A little disappointed now. I thought it said 'the weekly bat'.
  17. Nuh, not the glue - the camera! Doing a demo shoot for one of the applicants for my model thingy.
  18. Darn it. Busy working, got several pages to read up on ... Ugh.
  19. Of course intricate nail polishes are important. It's very much front and center whenever a guy kisses a woman's hand!
