  1. You get a different picture if you read all her posts and not only the last one. Anyway I'd like to follow this up before I leave this thread: I happen to know that at least one of the people behind Prokofy's troubles does follow this forum occasionally. There's a good chance they read this thread so here's a message to them: No matter what kind of grudges you hold against Prokofy, the moment you take it out on his tenants or other people who have no and don't want any part in your feud, you've lost. All you have to brag about is a silly, childish game and don't for a second fool yourself into thinking otherwise.
  2. You can find maps of all continents at The Linden Road Community Hub and several other places. Landmarks to continents are a bit trickier though since none of them has an official default entry point anymore. The only answer is to find the name of a sim on that continent and tp there. Maybe we should do something about that. A list of and landmark giver to unofficial-but-natural entry points at the LRC Hub perhaps? The question is where should those points be? Any sggestions? Some continents may require several alternative locations of course but that should be ok. Just to get things started: Zindra: Mosh (obviously) Sharp Continent: Nix (perhaps) Heterocera: Iris might be a good option, or maybe Calleta? Sansara: Really needs several entry points Blake Sea: Blake Sea - Half Hitch ...
  3. That is true for all mesh heads and mesh bodies although most come with a few basic default skins you can use in an emergency and, even more important, most support the general Omega applier system so there's a huge selection to choose from. TMP doesn't though, they have their own rather awkward applier system and very few clothes and skin creators bother with it these days.
  4. Well, I don't know. One of the moderators may be willing to tell but it's not that important really. With no warning points given there won't be any actual consequences and unless you choose to mention it yourself in a post or in your rank title or something like that, nobody else will ever know. ETA: I already had.
  5. I love that answer and I'll wear my badge with pride. But seriously, I think it's just automatic. When a thread is removed, the system registers this as a warning to the OP even if the cause of the removal doesn't qualify for any warning points. For all I know, the moderators may not even be aware of this.
  6. Yes, I do think a bit of clarification could be helpful. The guidelines are rather general and it would be nice to know a bit more about how they are implemented. You mean you haven't got one of those before now? Welcome to the club!
  7. Assuming it's Derek's post that confuses you, this thread was locked and "scheduled for removal" yesterday. I suppose that meant the moderators needed a timeout to read through this mess before making a final decision. Since it's back now, the final decision must have been that it was ok after all. Anyway, I had a chat with Prokofy inworld yesterday and that was far more constructive than this discussion and also cleared up a few misunderstandings. There's one thing that still worries me though, something that was mentioned in the original post that got completely lost in the mayhem: For those who thought that was just nonsense, it is actually possible for a viewer to block autoreturn. Or at least it was. It was a Linden who once told me about it and I would have thought a security hole like that would have been something they looked at the moment they became aware of it. Is there anybody who can see if they can reproduce it and post a JIRA if neccessary? Paging @Whirly Fizzle. It is also possible to override object entry settings but as far as I know, that is an occasional server glitch and not something that can be triggered by any kind of viewer. But mnaybe I'm wrong there.
  8. Yes, they will try. They want to keep their users after all. Oh. That is a problem. I'm afraid you have to expect it to take a bit longer than that. I'm a bit confused about one thing though. The first thing you do to recover a lost password is to have it sent to your email. You did remember that, even if you didn't mention it here, right?
  9. In that case the only explanation I can think of is that it's a server glitch. If it's mainland, contact Linden Lab and ask them to restart the sim - it's probably faster to wait for Live Chat support to open than to open a support case about it. If it's a private estate, ask the estate owner to restatrt the sim.
  10. It can get a bit messy when you open several threads with the same question ont he forum but to repeat and elaborate on my response to the other instance, system vegetation, that is "Linden trees" and "Linden grass", are not detected by the physics engine at all so the server will only know where they are centered, not whether they encroach on other parcels. If that is the kind of object(s) you have trouble with, the only solution is still to ask the owner to remove them or, if that fails, file an abuse report and hope Linden Lab will sort it out. You may have to file several AR's before they react.
  11. Is it a system vegetation? Those items can't be returned that way.
  12. I can explain that at least. The fps depends a lot on the number of "active triangles and vertices", that is how many items are actuelly rendered on the screen. When you zoom in on something, you reduce the number of active objects and that will usually increase the fps singificantly. I think I can explain why your ned gpu performs worse than youd old too. Viewers have an auto-detect function that makes them adjust your graphics settings to what they believe is the best for your specific graphics card. What probably happened is that the viewer cranked up a number of heavy graphics settings when it detected a new and more powerful gpu. Did you check all the usual fps drains to see if any of them has been changed?
  13. What the TOS does say - among a lot of other things, is: That is one answer to the question in the thread's title. Linden Lab has no obligation to do anything at all. Whether we like it or not, they reserve the right to wash their hands of cases like this. The people who have participated in this discourse certainly had no obligation to get involved. Some of them (not all, I have to give you that) have tried to help you. Nobody had to and nobdoy had any personal interest in it themselves. Their only motivation was sheer goodwill. You rejected all suggestions and showed no gratitude. Well, it's your decision whether you want to listen to the advice or not and personally I didn't expect any gratitude so as far as I am concerned, that's ok. But if you choose not to accept any of the answers we can possibly give you, the only thing we are able to do is wish you the best of luck and hope you find a solution some day. You're out of reach and on your own.

What is wrong is easy to tell, textures are failing to load. What causes it is more difficult to say, can be a lot of things. But try the easiest explanation first: how long do yuo wait before you give up? If it's a high lag area and you don't have many of the textures cached, it can take several minutes for them to load, especially - but not only - if you have a slow connection. The picture you show seems to be from a breedable auction or something like that and those events tend to be seriously high lag.
  17. I've earned a mole plushie doing burglary once. Not sure how much it's worth. Possibly not much since the script is broken. One thing I leanred about that kind of games. If the venue decides to launch a quiz with money prizes too just to add even more to the excitement, and you sort'a accidentally happen to come up with all the right answers first, everybody will hate you and nobody will vote for you but you still walk away with the biggest stash of fresh cash.
  18. Oh, I know for a fact that the one I caught was a genuine newcomer. I don't think it's necessary with a detailed explanation, you know just as well as me how easy it is to tell the difference. But I'm not suggesting that's how it's always done or even that's how it's usually done. I just put it forward as one more possible explanation why some griefers can be so ahrd to pin down. Really? Some griefers are actually terminally stupid then. Not all of them though. That raises another very interesting question: where should we draw the line? Somebody who actually goes out and does the dirty deed is of course definitely a griefer. I think we all agree that somebody who provides these active griefers with their tools and sends them out shuold count as griefers themselves too. But somebody who opens a sandbox where they let people go wild, who watches it happen, allows it to happen but doesn't actively participate themselves .. we're entering a grayzone there. And how about people who write posts supporting various griefer gangs on their blogs? That's not nice at all of course but we do have freedom of speech after all.
  19. YES!!! Ummm... you don't happen to know where that land of the free is btw? I've already checked this galaxy and Andromeda but there are so many other places. Edit: On second thought, if somebody is going to flaunt their member in public it really ought to be a premium one so maybe that land of the free isn't such a great place after all.
  20. You've already found the biggest one. Welcome! Make sure you catch Blu Heron's classes there. She's not nearly as active as a BB teacher as she used to be but she do hold a class every now and then and they're abvsolutely wonderful for beginners. I'll also recommend Happy Hippsters School of Building and especially Toady's classes there. Even some of the most experienced buidlers in SL attend those classes every now and then simply because they are great fun! Helping Haven, NCI, Oxbridge and Dreams aren't groups as such but great palces to meet other builders, learn, practice and exchange experiences and ideas.
  21. kk Interestingly Linden Lab seems to share your view on the relation between thrustworthiness and account age. A newcomer caught griefing is likely to have their account closed right away while an oldtimer has a good chance of getting away with it. I once had the pleasure of catching a griefer red-handed, trying to rez some rather nasty objects on my land (this was before I had learned how to protect myself properly from such silliness). It turned out she was a genuine newcomer who had been tricked into joining a griefer ring by and old-timer. There's is absolutely no doubt who the person behind that attack was. He was the creator of the script and objects, he was the last owner and the newcomer had even been kind and naive enough to post a quite detailed "photo blog" of the recruiting ceremony in her profile. I logged on an alt to do some undercover research to double check a few details and then filed what must have been one of the best documented abuse reports LL has ever seen. The next day the newcomer's alt was closed. The old-timer who was behind it all, is still here. It is possible he got some sort of stern warning (as far as I know that was the last time that particular griefer gang ever attempted an attack anywhere) but he certainly got away much easier than the newcomer. It is but they are also very easy to make. All you really need is a script and a prim to contain it. You just have to wave a magic wand in the air to make a brand new prim appear and you can store a script in a text document on your own computer well out of LL's reach. Next time you need it, jsut copy and paste. It only takes a minute. I do actually assume that LL has tried tracking the accounts in your case. I they haven't, they really haven't done their job properly. But it doesn't always work. I addition to the masking methods already mentioend, how do you know those new accounts are alts at all? The griefer gang I mentioned used genuine newcomers with no vibile connections (or so they thought) to themselves at all. Those are not the same people you have trouble with - it's their opponents who are attacking you - but they may well sue the same strategy. A griefer has to be terminally stupid to keep an incriminating stash of griefer objects inworld or in their inventory. They are so easy to make on the spot. That being said... I have no doubt that Tommy is telling the truth. But exactly how seriously are the reports taken and how thoroughly are they reviewed? It's easy enough to find out who the griefer got their objects from, even a regular user with a third party viewer can see that, and I do epxect LL to be able to track an item's history even further. I get the impression that Linden Lab doesn't do that. They seem to think that griefers are always loners operating on their own and don't realize there are often fairly organized gangs behind it. So they catch the henchmen and henchwomen and believe the job is done-
  22. I have to tell you otherwise then. Prokofy is fiercly loyal of his tenants, a patreon of many talented SL artists, protector of several classic SL builds who may have been lost if it wasn't for him and as far as I know, always willing to honor any agreements. That's why I still like him. But good or bad reputation, it's still only among a very small part of the entire SL population. Second Life is a huge, varied and fractured community. Everyone may be a star in their own little corner of it but nobody is big enough to be noticeable in SL as a whole.
  23. I have to repeat what I said earlier. You are not a public figure and you do not have a reputation. Not as far as the average SL user is concerned that is. He/she has never ever heard of you and has no idea what your background is. They can read your profile, yes, but as you said yourself, profiles can lie. That's not about you btw. There is no such thing as a public figure in Second Life. Every single avatar and every single alt is a complete unknown to the vast majority of SL users.
  24. Bracelets shuoldn't really need to be specifically fitted for Maitreya or any other mesh body since there's no point in rigging them. You want to make sure they're either modifiable or include a resizer script of course but that's regardless of what kind of avatar you use. Beyond that, jsut find something you like.
  25. Oh, definitely yes. Not necessarily those listed in the destination guide though and besides, it's unlikely they are the first things a newcomer want to see.
