  1. Yes when you eat any plant material, salad leaves, tomatoes with skin, fruit etc you also eat cellulose. Cellulose is a form of fibre which is essential for feeding the gut flora in many mammals, including humans. This is because cellulose passes through the DT intact when it reaches the gut, in horses and humans as we don’t make cellulase. The only issue with too much fibre is that due to it being non water soluble, it can create impaction in the intestine. Horses can get this too, it’s called impaction colic. Humans can get this issue too on high fibre diets when they don’t drink enough water. So if you eat a lot of fibre ensure your water intake is on the higher side of your daily allowance.
  2. Going to Florida to my alma mater for a conference for 4 days and wondering how bored I’d be… then being surprised by my marine driving all the way down from the Blue ridge mountains to spend time together like the good old days and ending up having the best four days in over 12 years 🥲
  3. Why do you think anyone of us actually cares where you go or what you do when in SL? I’m not being rude, do you honestly think your neighbours or anyone here surfs the grid to find where you are? unless you gave your contacts the ability to see you on the map, anyone else who encounters you during your “walks” is random. You can set your parcel to have nobody look at you if you want and even if they try to zoom in they won’t see you at home.
  4. Inflammation is an immune system response but it’s not always a bad thing, in most cases it’s essential to activate certain pathways that actually help to remove pathogens. You are probably referring to chronic inflammatory conditions or autoimmune responses. In either case diet does play a vital role in reducing inflammation but it should be tailored for the patient and take into account everyone’s unique physiology. Certain foods or supplements can actually interact with prescription medications and the internet really isn’t the right place to give or take any medical advice, if you are serious about your profession.
  5. It was usurped from Pagan practices. Most northern (pagan) cultures had some “end of harvest” festival. Here in Ireland it was called Samhain and was also the celebration of the new year. Since Irish tribes were agriculture based, the new year cycle began after the autumn harvest and the beginning of winter. When the early Christian church found out that they could not suppress these celebrations here in Ireland they did what the Church always does… they made up a holiday that coincides with Samhain.
  6. Wire coat hangers are the modern surgeon’s portable operating theatre. You can perform any surgical intervention with a wire hanger, from tracheotomies to c sections 😅
  7. /me looks all over the internet for pencil holder cat figures like those to add to her growing pile of kute rubbish on her desk 🐱🐱🐱 …. and she finds one straight away on Amazon.co.Uk 🙈 I was hoping they’d be in some obscure and potentially dodgy site where making purchases wouldn’t be a good idea 😂💸💸💸 thanks a mill @LittleMe Jewell😂
  8. For me personally a Kardashian is the last human I wish to emulate but yes, I’ll take the real dollars any day 👍🏻
  9. I appreciate that they make great clothes, skin, hair, shoes and lots more with their incredible creative talent, otherwise I’d be going around in my birthday suit. I also love how I’m literally able to find everything I can possibly think of, from stethoscopes to hanging plants and antiques thanks to these amazing creators.
  10. Ok so now meet up with @Da5id Weatherwax to record it, will be a major TikToc hit 🎸
  11. Ok so official Pet section with cat, dog, horse, bird, reptile, bunny threads? No creepy crawlies please 🙏
  12. I am glad you’re here David! I have never met a Scotsman in SL and yet ye are just a stone’s throw away (so to speak!) 🐴 here we are now in our typical weather (just feeding them dinner 🍲)
  13. I love all those gentle giants! Shires, Suffolk Punch, Cleveland Bay, Clydes, Percherons... and our own Irish Draught (the big muzzle in the pic is one of my lads, never mind the other mug with shades lol). I love them all, they are so big and so gentle, they will work their heart out to please you. I love riding the grey lad but have to admit I find riding any of the heavies a bit tough, they're a workout to get my legs around them lol (I know it sounds wrong) 😂 I've been spoiled with my tb lass and tb X Welch pony where Iiterally cannot put my leg on unless I want to end up in the next county in 1.3s 🐴🦄
  14. Exactly that David, I have a weird sense of humour at times but I also hate to hand the dreaded bill... especially when 1/3 of it is VAT and 1/3 drugs at cost price. You're spot on about everything to do with horses is never cheap, they're such large and complex animals. Prices for services are more or less set by the vet association here... I worked in a large clinic and the controls we have over what drugs we take out are unreal. Rightly so as there's always a degree of abuse to be expected in a place where crazy substances are handled by 25 year olds 😜 *jk* For issues where hospitalisation is required (colic most common one), assuming no complications, the poor owner can expect anything between 3 and 5k, depending on the location. I feel lucky with my horses, I can take care of most issues including minor surgeries and do the same for friends. But I've seen people literally faint in the practice when the cost of the service was revealed to them 😞 When I saw that painting I could actually picture the scene in my head....😵
  15. Just for giggles, two weeks ago I had to remove a pretty large sarcoid from a friend’s mare, it was in an annoying location and it was better excised. So I sent her the bill printed on the back of this card 😂
  16. Yes that would be my idea of dudebro ! I had to look up what a dudebro was, and by the explanation given I pictured some kind of Vanilla Ice with highlights type guy. Now those guys above I fully understand 😅
