  1. Thinking about it, i guess its possible to make a non worn, physical vehicle stroller that you can actually place a physical prim baby into. You`d need to have it so that it has a see through closeable top, or your baby could actually fall out, but in theory it could be possible, realistic and safe.
  2. Dont cross sims near the corners, but try to cross nearer the middle. This seems to get safer crossings.

Those who have a single name probably aren't massively bothered and some probably quire like it (as Victoria does). If i'm even more honest, I suspect those with a single name who do have an issue with it have been swayed by someone with a last name calling them a noob or something. Or in other words, as is so often that case with things in SL, the issue is not so much with the process itself, but with the overly-dramatic responses and actions of those stuck in their ways and seemingly finding drama for the sake of it. You want vocal, then read through the JIRA, or talk to people like myself who would dearly love a last name. In fact i would even take the second name "resident" as according to this forum and the grid in general, i dont even have that. Oh and, we can think for ourselves, thankyou and don't need you "surname enabled" folks to influence us as you speculate.
  4. Victoria wrote: The thing is, even if you grant that display names and no-last-names is a terrible idea, there are some of us who *like* not having a last name, and don't use display names. I don't like display names, but I respect them. I mean, I would never use a display name, but if someone else does, that's what I call them. I love my name, and in most situations I don't see or hear the Resident part of it. No one has ever called me "Ms. Resident" but I wouldn't care if they did, because it would be such an unusual thing. My question is, if last names DO come back, then what happens to people like me, who went to the trouble of getting a decent account name? I`m curious, what was the "trouble" that you went to in order to get that name.
  5. The other one that makes me facepalm is when i get this from people who clearly cannot see display names. "Chronometria, thats a cool name, but what do i call you for short". My display name is Chrono, of course, but enough people cant see it to remind me constantly that my display name is in no way "real".
  6. Interestingly, what hurts the most, is when someone tells me i dont have a surname and that resident doesnt even exist. Most people i know have one and for some reason i`m not worth of it. "Resident" doesnt even have the strength of a fake surname and thats what makes me feel like a second class citizen sometimes. Then you have the people who *still* cant see display names and call us by our logins. *Edit* just noticed, look left, no surname even on the "official forum".
  7. I got all excited when i saw the title in my email inbox. Then i read it and realised it didnt really apply to anyone except people who are already able to cover the massive cost of sims anyway. What it needs to be is either 1. A reduction in tier costs across the board. or 2. Increasing the free tier allowance of premium memberships. It's not the people at the top who need the boost, its the vast amount of normal folks. Mainland is half empty and putting more land in the reach of the average user would have a great benefit all round.
  8. I knew this change was coming when they announced the intention to merge basic and advanced. This was actually outlined as a positive feature....which it isnt. I can only thank god that there is an option to return to the old way of doing things, but i will say that having this as the default is terrible. Its horribly clumsy and new users will find it crippling.
  9. Or just stick with being small :matte-motes-big-grin:
  10. Lately i have been seeing baking issues a lot more. My partner can barely move to another sim without becoming a white cloud. She suggested it was something to do with clothing layers, as it only happens with certain outfits and taking them off seems to immediately fix the problem.
  11. Transylvania sim has a place called the wall which is an open air dance area. That seems to be active all the time, lots of gothy folks there.
  12. Depends on your interests, but i would be happy to meet up and show you a few cool places.
  13. There are certainly email spams that pretend to be from other addresses, even your own. It can look like you are spamming yourself, but really they have a feature to randomly take addresses from your list and use them, or something like that.
  14. I`ve volunteered to be one of the new "adult mentors" that will staff this project, as has my submissive companion (she is much more clued up on RLV than anyone i know). I spend a lot of time teaching basic second life skills and find that the adult lifestyles involve a lot of learning. It's very easy to get a bad start in second life, especially when it comes to adult issues and relationships. Even basics like getting "the right equipment" if you are a man are something that a newcomer will need advice on, even though its the most significant first step. I`ve had the good fortune to be introduced to forceme silverspar's lessons on freedom continent and they are fantastic examples of how to get over much needed information. If we are able to carry over that standard of teaching and help to newcomers, it will be an amazing help. As to other types of newcomers, places like the shelter are a good model. As always its volunteers and so on paying to promote second life. I must admit i`m surprised there is no official funding or "tax break" being put forward by the labs.
  15. Well, if we are talking about countries like Eastasia, Eurasia and so on, then The United Kingdom is actually called "Airstrip One" if my knowledge of Orwell's 1984 is accurate. What is this Euro-Heritage thing anyway, i thought the idea of things like independence day was to celebrate getting rid of all of us euro types.
  16. I dont have one of those fancy avatars (
  17. Caledon holds the airship wreck rally, which is a race and involves dropping parts of your airship onto targets and hoping you dont explode. Good to watch, riel radio does a commentary of it too.
  18. As said above, it takes 24 hours to get cash from a group land sale. The proceeds are all split among members with the owner rights to it.

    Mesh ?

Mesh - Something apparently banned from the latest linden fashion show, oddly enough.
  20. Looks better with the stockings, so i would suggest you have that as the main picture, rathen than as the secondary. In addition, that blonde model looks a lot better and the hair adornment and the necklace she has makes the image much more attractive. Her hair colour also suits the white of the material. That is definitely the superior picture, best to throw the other one away, it doesnt do the product any favours.
  21. It is quite easy to miscommunicate things in second life, i have found. People often miss messages or get pulled afk and cant reply. What puzzles me is that quite often people take this negatively. Many times if i have been pulled afk or distracted, people assume that i am deliberately ignoring them or am upset in some way. Lots of people seem to assume the worst. :matte-motes-frown:
  22. MMO communities have been the victim of account theft for a while and their companies are pretty hot when it comes to dealing with compromised accounts. Now that games like warcraft are losing subs due to their age, there are a fresh group of folks coming into second life (i was such a one) and sadly that means that scammers, seeking new opportunities, are heading here too. Its ironic really, considering that second life is a lot more money oriented, that this risk has remained dormant for so long. Possibly second life's complexity has kept it protected. Still, it is where the money is and a decent scammer could make money from second life that makes an attack on a warcraft account look like stealing marbles. These things need to be deal with in a matter of hours, which companies like blizzard can do. Linden Labs just isnt set up to counter this and it could be a real problem about to happen in a big way.
  23. Some female fans also refer to themselves as "Bronies". It is sometimes a collective term for all fans. It's a bit like the word "guys", which can have a general meaning when you are with friends of both genders. Thats a picture of Rarity, for those unaware, who is the fashion conscious character in the series. She also loves gemstones and has the ability to sense where they are.
  24. It's a cool series and the bronies are a large, interesting community. The loss of their two sims was a big setback, but they are still out there and will likely pick up again with the new season. *Bro-Hoof* - Love and tolerance for everybrony, in ten seconds flat.
  25. I think - does this person ever send me a message, or am i always having to contact them? Friends worth keeping make an effort to keep in touch.
