  1. Actually I need to revise that statement. ETA The popped mesh has no alpha. However part of the build has windows with TGA textures on 32bit channel; the mesh it self was imported with the TGA textures applied to the materials. Some of those windows are part of the linkset.... So I just reinstalled the viewer and did a clean install. Guess what - now ok. /me bangs head.... so it's viewer related so technically good news as my work is intact again.
  2. Thanks - it also impacted the original upload and 12 versions I had worked on since yesterday and today - so not just the one "rezzed". Weirdly I had also given one to a friend to test and his was fine yesterday. So I'll check in with him later to see if his has popped too. SL confuses me sometimes
  3. I have a Mesh building. And it was all aok until an hour ago. Now it's gone to a weird wire format when you click on it with the script error yellow triangle. Has anybody experienced this, I can raise a bug report but I wanted to see if I was alone first (or it was my own actions). I got this twice yesterday on uploading (at a cost of 10 bucks a pop as I was uploading with textures on a complex build). However this one had successfully uploaded and been in world at least 24 hours before it popped!
  4. I only have one stuck and it seems to not have billed since May so think I got lucky. On a side note, I wonder why somebody hasn't relaunched a viable alternative to Marketplace back in the style of https://www.xstreetsl.com. Back to the old days - but I certainly would use it if there.
  5. IS THIS WHY I AM BANNED? (joking)"waves". Same here, and ahah just logged on to do a lighting check myself!
  6. I have no issues with Lion, I use only the SL official viewer. Have you both tested the same mesh asset (deleting the .slm first) to see if you get different outputs?
  7. I was going to ask if you had rotated your axis. I did that some weeks back to adjust a bounding box and saw the same issue you had. Hadn't realised I had done it until I uploaded. When I went back I could see the 180 adjustment on the Rotation/Coordinates dock.
  8. Are you already a Maya user? Otherwise, I would save the thousands of dollars if just for Second Life and go for Blender where there are more specific SL based tutorials available (and it's free). If you are already using Maya and well versed with it. Areas to perhaps start your focus on are: Low Polygon Modelling Rigging for SL (if doing Fashion etc) UVW Mapping The importing part including creating the 4 LOD models Creating a physics model for your build. I am sure somebody will add to this so you can search them out on Youtube etc. I haven't looked at the Wiki in a while but I think people were starting to contribute to it for Maya - there is also a few groups inworld for Autodesk etc that you may want to search out.
  9. Can you test with a larger sample? I just tested 10 of my items and all received, debit, and credit all fine. See if you can narrow to specific products or other common factors?
  10. I do it that way - I find what is key is on each section to have a single cube that is replicated into each separate mesh in the same location - so once inworld you simply line that common cube (in your cases x 3) up to the grid then delete that piece. On the textures this should work - but what is key is the alignment of texture into your materials. My assumption is you are leveraging the colour channel and you replace the output with the associated jpg, tga etc sized for SL (as if it's not in a SL recognised format it won't give you the texture upload). Again assuming you are creating the texture from baking within Maya then reassigning it back to the material before upload. Much like you would with Unity development etc. Not sure if that helps (or I could be hindering!).
  11. edit to add I tried different regions and no joy. Went back to Beta and upload was working aok.
  12. If they worked before it could be SL. The reason I mention is today I have had no issue on the Beta Grid. This evening on main grid however everything is failing, it's telling me I don't have permission to rez one item on my land (when 8 other items work fine) and I got logged out 4 times in quick succession scripting a mesh item. Upload failed on 3 mesh items that were fine on Beta just an hour before. I have just done a restart on the sim to see if that helps. You may want to TP to a sandbox to see if you have the same issue on another region?
  13. If Marketplace only - use the redeliver function - that way you'll only redeliver what they purchased anyway. If 3 people though it does sound like you may still want to check again each item to ensure what is being delivered in the content matches the item description in the meantime in case something got corrupted (if that is even possible) since you last tested the transition.
  14. Finished Structures is good but I would just split below into commercial and residential. I didn't personally see the benefit of having multi family or whatnot. For ages houses have been filed in the most illogical categories and I hope Commerce sees this and makes a small adjustment. It would make a lot of creators very happy and customers have a faster and simpler experience.
  15. Amazing. You posted their work - not hard to find the merchant.
  16. Agree, and to link it to a specific merchant is the same as accusing that merchant. Totally inapproriate actions.
  17. Ditto on that Pamela Mine are modular and grouped so windows, blinds, frames, stairs etc can be reused. I of course link them for larger linksets in world but the purchaser can unlink and reuse, retexture etc. With good mesh building it doesn't really hugely change the overall LI either.
  18. You first state in your title a question - Bait and Switch getting out of hand? So you are leading us to believe the thread is about this practice. You then link the bate and switch issue to a specific problem - "shameless photoshopping". So you give us a perceived root cause for the Bait and Switch in your example. You then follow up saying you have read a lot of reviews stating a preview picture was photoshopped. So now linking the issue to specific practices on Marketplaces that merchants are photoshopping their images to bait and switch. You then provide a real example to back up the case from another merchant's work. You are now linking that merchant with (a) the photoshoppping issue (b) linking the thought they are baiting and switching their customers and justifying it by © stating many reviews etc cover this topic on other merchants. You confirm it isn't a viewer issue (but fail to mention your own quality of skin, shape etc on your avatar). You also underpin the point by stating how shocked 3 friends were also but didn't mention if you asked them to use a default setting, and again for all we know they are using commodore 64s to look at SL.. So after this setting of the scene you ask us Where is the line drawn was your next question. Well reading the above I think it should be drawn at making assumptions and using another merchant's work to promote a general issue. Or at least post this link to the merchant so they can respond to your criticism and implied allegations. You have, to my opinion, undermined the original issue which I am guessing is the photoshopping aspect by making it so specific and targeted at somebody not here to defend themselves. The original issue is actually pretty valid as it does create less credibility for merchants so affects us all. However I strongly disagree that because somebody has pretty standard windlight setting used they are baiting and switching people. The point on demos is also a good one. It would be nice to be able to demo clothes like we do skins. But again the creator is NOT at fault if you have a shape or skin that doesn't work with said outfit and that's the cause versus their own work. To answer your final questions - have you ever fallen for it - yes. And I then avoid the merchant but it's rare because I use many merchants who have good reputations and I repeat buy from their new collections. How do I feel about it - well your detracting post aside - I feel it is wrong and it would be good to educate merchants to improve and use better practices. Bear in mind SL creating is a long learning process. What seems like a good idea when you are new or inexperienced, later you realise is not and you change your process. Some merchants are plain shady and will always be unfortunately. What actions should you take as a deceived customer? Well I don't think you have been deceived and your post hasn't helped the wider cause. Plus negative reviews had you given the merchant an opportunity to respond before writing up on their product, if not that should have been your first action to discuss your concerns. If you had and got a negative response then you are quite within your right to make your concern public. As a quite angry merchant per your final question? You get a lot more results with honey versus vinegar. I would put your emotions aside and perhaps think about blogging positive ways for merchants to take great pictures of products without need to photoshop as a resource. You mention you have 10 years experience in using Paint Pro, so how about using that to educate how to take good snapshots without need to photoshop. Just my thoughts.
  19. But the title says Bait and Switch. Then an example was provided to underpin your theory that it was getting out of hand. Do you have other examples, as the one presented didn't really stand up to the Bait and Switch getting out of hand question you presented.
  20. it's def an issue. I got charged twice yet don't have a single active enhancement running. I had luckily just cashed out, so got charged 2 x 899 then it run out of funds to hit. It started at 10.22 PST today. I have put in a support ticket asking for a refund.
  21. I think this is a great idea. How did you find each other, friendship already? I would love to hook up with somebody on the fashion side and share the same sort of relationship. It's great to be able to also bounce ideas of people and the very specific SL quirks that come with mesh in the way it's been adopted.
  22. I think there is some pretty obvious bad "copies" around but it's good to not assume. (I for example have a TurboSquid Account where I sell things as well as my Second Life Account). I am thinking about changing mine so the brand matches SL in case people think the same of me!
  23. Not a good idea. Textures are sold as part of the design and shouldnt be decoupled and reuploaded in most cases.
  24. If you haven't done a custom physics upload - what settings are you using - and are you going through the Analyse (setting it to Solid over Surface for a building) steps etc? Are you then switching from Convex to Prim inworld? If your model is consistent (ish) it could likely be the physic steps you are following.
