  1. Please ask your wife to rebake her avatar ("ctrl" "alt" "r") - have you already tried this?
  2. Congratulations on your marriage! I'll resist the urge to make wedding-night jokes :matte-motes-big-grin-wink: It is an optical illusion. You could try changing your group tag, which may refresh the viewer or teleport out and back in again.
  3. This is my favourite thread today. I hope the OP is fixed now. I do love the photo (and your comment) - the SL wind must have changed
  4. Thank you so much for the photo. You are using an emoter HUD? I take it you have detached the HUD? If so, and you are still stuck in this facial expression, please teleport across to Furball, and see if this helps. Failing that, try a relog. If that doesn't work, please return to this thread, and we'll see what we can try next.
  5. Welcome to Second Life Answers. Is this your main avatar? The reason I am asking is that it was only created two months ago, and already you have felt you could trust people enough to give out real life information. It's a very hard lesson that you've learnt. Regarding what has gone on, Linden Lab aren't going to want to get involved with something that - in spite of how unfair it seems - amounts to a schoolyard spat. If you feel, however, that you are being persecuted in real life, you MUST involve law enforcement agencies. If this is your main avatar, I would strongly urge you to hang it up for now and begin a brand new life, under a brand new avatar name. You do not have to delete this avatar. You can have up to five accounts per household. Just be extremely careful what you say and do with people who are strangers to you. And in the future if anyone harrasses you, just mute/block straightaway, with no more interaction - not even to say "you are muted". Life will be much less stressful for you. I wish you a happier future.
  6. Greeting, kelli Your face is stuck? Can you please upload a screenshot to show us what you mean? (To add more to this thread, please click on "options" at the top right hand corner of your original post and "edit".)
  7. Welcome to Second Life Answers, cosmopolitan88 You can check your connection via http://www.pingtest.net/ You might be ok, though, so do try changing your start login location to somewhere like Furball or Quarrel (empty waterland sims), see if you can log in to any of those. And don't forget to check also that you have up-to-date drivers for your graphics card by visiting the nvidia website.
  8. All the new features and bugs are making me go ARGGGGGG!!!!! at the moment. And the humidity and excessive heat in RL. However, temporary fix of GREAT. BRITISH. STRAWBERRIES will put a band aid on it (yummy silver lining) :matte-motes-delicious:
  9. I was looking through some of the photos my Second Life friends upload to Flickr, and realise such a lot of them aren't clued up about mesh and pathfinding, but have been residents for five years or more. I also realised that while you, me, and several thousand other residents choose to be Beta testers, many more thousands choose to just enjoy Second Life in the same way that they have always done, often when they come home from their stressful day jobs; they don't want to have to be reading up on new rules regs, and be slapped with massive charges for excessive bandwith use that they were not warned about. While it is certainly true, and in the Terms of Service, that LL reserve the right to change the way Second Life runs without reason or explanation or prior notice, it certainly does not seem right or fair, or a way to keep regular paying customers (see Perrie's post, he puts it so much better than me), and this issue of excessive bandwith really has to be sorted out as soon as possible. If it can't be fixed, then ALL residents must receive notification and instructions on how to protect themselves from massive bills or a shutdown of their broadband service when their fair user limit has been reached, which looks like they would have to be advised to keep their access to SL down to a minimum. (Like when a shop floods, and has to be closed down until the water has been pumped out and the drainage fixed.) Just like when a car manufacturer gives the manual with the car, and a 'nanny state' warning that although the car can reach speeds of 110mph, speed limits still must be adhered to.
  10. Welcome to Second Life Answers, Rowan Can you do other things without crashing; ie send a photo, look in search for someone/something? When your friends come online or go offline does your viewer go into "not responding", or anything like that? Have you tried editing your attachments while on another sim? It's hard to diagnose exactly what might be the problem, and so I am just hazarding a guess in this moment. If it were me having this issue, I would probably clear my cache and relog into a quiet sim, see if that helps at all. And I would check my connection is ok too. Also would check my graphics card drivers are up-to-date. It could even be something connected to this issue over on another thread that Oz Linden responded to... http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Second-Life-Viewer/SL-Viewer-constant-crashing-HELP-please/m-p/1637197#M15742 Other responses will follow; please keep checking back. Should you wish to add more to this thread (and I hope you will give us regular updates so we find out what causes/fixes apply to your issue), you can do so by clicking on "options" at the top right hand corner of your original post and "edit".
  11. ... and I 100% agree with Ayesha, and could not have worded it better myself. This issue certainly has divided us into two definite groups of people hasn't it?!
  12. I am too with Perrie on this one. There was talk about UK having automatic filters to prevent kids from accidentally gaining access to adult material, but I, as someone in a child-free home, do not wish to have to jump through hoops to view whatever I want to view without censorship, just because some parents are not responsible enough to look out for their kids better.
  13. This topic has also filtered through to the weekly Deploy thread, which I'm linking in here... http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Second-Life-Server/Deploys-for-the-week-of-2012-08-13/td-p/1634375/page/5
  14. I recently took an alt through the adult verification process and was surprised that I only had to click on a button that confirmed I was over 18! But then, should I have been surprised? After all, this is the only verification I have had to use on other websites to access adult content. LL could argue that it isn't their responsibility to be doing what parents should be doing; ie having parental control filters set by the owners of the computers. Here in the UK, there is a lot of discussion about this; parents are being urged via television programmes, schools, information leaflets, printed media, to ensure their kids are safe, and not able to access adult material.
  15. If it is a Windows blue screen of death, then it's a warning that the load has become too heavy. Can you post your computer's full specifications to see if there is a clue among them. It might be time for something new, but can only guess on such scant details. To add more to this thread, as there is no "reply" button in these Answers, please do so by clicking on "options" at the top right hand corner of your original post and "edit".
  16. Cincia Singh wrote: Nothing personal, and yes having SL suddenly use more bandwidth than usual is not a good thing, but it's MY responsibility to monitor MY data useage. I do monitor my data useage across several devices and I don't whine at the provider of a game or app if I let it use up my data allowance. That's MY responsibility. Geting careless and blaming anyone else is immature. My own personal viewpoint is that I will be bloody annoyed if I have to severely limit my usage of Second Life, simply because bandwith goes up a ridiculous amount for a feature I personally could live without. I am aware that LL can do this, can do what they like, make changes, etc., etc. I am aware also of my own personal responsibilities, but for a large number of residents, especially those who are charged not a flat-rate for their internet, it's going to be a big kick in the wallet.
  17. Do we really know ... "We know that workers on these teams do not often talk to each other, especially if there is a lot of time-pressure on them to get their project up and running." ... or do we just (have good reason to) suspect it? (A comment I wanted to put there has had to be held back, or no doubt this thread would be pulled as it is too controversial, and seemingly anti-Linden, which - you know - I am not). It's odd what comes to you in the wee small hours, isn't it? And I hope one of the many clever souls who are always so willing to declare themselves as programmers will be able to shed some light on the possibility of your theory. I would like to know how important region idling is to LL; I found I felt insecure when it was mentioned, because I don't know the speed an idle region can come back into activity again when it sees/senses a child agent approaching. Also, I would like to know how LL feel about certain bot avatars preventing region idling in sims because of their 24/7 presence meaning some sims very rarely get a chance to go idle.
  18. spazzymcaltonson wrote: I did file a harassment report on Tuesday but have yet to hear anything back from LL. He still has the picture up so I'm assuming he wasn't warned. Not sure how long it normally takes for action to be taken. Is there somewhere I can follow up? It may possibly be that LL think it is not harmful for someone to use a RL image of anyone if they're not actually also giving out any more information, such as real name, or even avatar name, but this bothers you greatly, and I believe Linden lab should remove the photo. (Perhaps the folk dealing with ARs ought to try imagining how they would feel if their RL photo appeared on an ex-friend's profile - I think they would action it then!) So, if it were me, I would file an AR on a daily basis until the photo gets removed.
  19. Greetings, jeeps It's not a silly question, but it's certainly my favourite thread of today :matte-motes-grin: How sweet you are to care about abandoned dogs in SL. What makes you think they are abandoned, or that the owner doesn't care? (I am sure you are right, though - luckily they are only virtual dogs in a virtual world.) I think the owner may have had to be away from Second Life without any warning, and has not been able to visit his dogs to feed them (are they the type of dog that needs food?) Sadly, I feel you just have to let SL nature take it's course. If you want similar dogs of your own though, right click on the dog and find out the name of the creator. Or visit the Second Life Marketplace to see what animals they have there.
  20. The Linden Homes are like the council houses used to be in the UK, segregated from the rest of the mainland (!). Only name of Linden Home sim I can think of right now is Nekko, which is a waterland sim, but you see on the world map how structured they are.
  21. Who do we have to blame for shortening "mobile phones" to "mobiles"? I always thought "mobiles" were hung over babies cots (cribs!).
  22. I have lag in my head today, and there is no cure for that (except sleep or caffeine). I'll tell you where I find most lag that would appear to be true lag - over on those Linden homes sims. Maybe it's all the gold that lies waiting to be mined underneath the ground there :matte-motes-wink-tongue:
