I actually laughed out here in real life when I scrolled back and saw that I had indeed written the word as "apartment". This is the influence Second Life has had on me that I refer to my real life home as an apartment when it is actual a flat! I live in a flat!!!
  2. Greetings, Tango, valerie has answered the question that you ask, but have a good look around on these Forums/Answers, and in the Knowledge Base (see above tab), because a lot of questions can be answered without waiting for Live Chat.
  3. You have come to the right decision. You are the wisest person of all in this thread. Have a lovely break - in real life too - you will come back brighter, with a fresh new perspective. And I hope also you will become a regular on the forums. They get dull without these threads that get people thinking and talking and sharing. :matte-motes-big-grin:
  4. Boudicca Littlebird wrote: I have 5 AV's, I create a history for each one as I make them, the lindens only let me make 5, I asked them why I could not make more and they said I might use them as traffic bots, so for the first few years I had to delete one to create a new one, if any of you go to the role play sims some have rules that you can't be on both sides, lol, very monkey like, so when I wanted to play the other side I had to kill one and create a new one to play the other side. Example, one was a hoplite in Sparta, after a few months got bored and wanted to try Athens so moved over to Athens, only to find that Sparta had banned them, so you will find that all people at those role play sims create an alt for each side. Example, if any of you have been to these sims you may know a Spaniard that is very good at training people, I know him as peter or dark, he has 30 alts one in every role play sim plus a few over for dancing and being a vampire. I'd have to look up how many alts I have. I mean, I don't have hundreds. I don't have more than 20. I have made alts though, just for testing how the initial login and orientation process is. Maybe one by one they will reveal themselves on these forums. Let's see what colour that little man in the corner goes - they go to red, and I send them to 'Carousel' like in 'Logan's Run' :matte-motes-big-grin-wink: I have different accounts, yes the five maximum per household, but some are registered here to my brother's address, and I have my own apartment where some are registered, and a back-up email address, and then some more at my mother's address. All are legitimate households, all within Linden Lab Terms of Service. It doesn't say five alts per person, just per household. How do these traffic bot owners do it though? I knew of one traffic bot owner who had literally hundreds of bots that he rented to other people. They were stored on several sims. Somehow people will always get around the rules, to do things that are unfair on other people. Real Life/Second Life. People are people :matte-motes-frown:

Haha, thanks :matte-motes-smile: I should've really turned the camera off at the point of 'jumping' off the bridge, to give the illusion of possibly falling from a more impressive height (an' I still haven't got around to using video/photo editing software. :matte-motes-nerdy:
  6. kali Wylder wrote: I'm an alt. My main was thinking about committing avicide too. Of course she knows better than to actually delete her account, but she's been slowly withdrawing from everyone and everything she used to do. She has unchecked the eye on all her friends, so no one can see her online anymore. She doesn't want to talk, she doesn't want to explain, she's just heartbroken and she doesn't want to play right now. The only thing she signs in to do is give money and landmarks to her alts. I don't know how long this state of affairs will last, it's a first for us. But I can't complain either, it's the first time I've been out to play in a real long time. You're starting to feel better, and you'll feel better every day. I'm sorry you're going through heartbreak; it's crap isn't it? I wanted to trash my main because of a bad forever break up in 2010, but I found myself standing on a bridge actually laughing hysterically, thoughts of how ridiculous my SLuicide would have been. Heck, I couldn't even commit SLuicide right! :matte-motes-impatient: If I could only convey how much better Second Life becomes after that heartbreak experience, it really does, and before you realise it, it gets put into a box in your head that you can lift out once in a while to have a really good melancholic wallow. It's all part of being human. Keep coming out to play. (Forums were part of my 'therapy' back in 2010.) Take photos. Laugh. Cry. Funny, inventive, amazing you will come back brighter.

Shame about the post-coital giggling though; is it VERY bad? :matte-motes-evil: I've been the subject of several medical studies. One time I was giggling so hard I ruptured my tunica albuginea. Trying to explain why one is walking around with their wong in a sling and a cast is way more embarrassing then explaining a broken arm or leg. No one would believe me when I said I ran into a wall. Oooooo I am really sorry about your... ermmm ... injured.... errrrm ... but I'm still laughing, all these hours later. :smileylol:

Boudicca Littlebird wrote: Could you write a living book, could you put together a set of things that would lead to people living out a story as it is written, if you have any ideas then you should talk to lucinda, lucinda can't come here. I don't know if I can write a living book, or if I am currently writing a living book. I do keep a Second Life diary, complete with photographs, but it would not be interesting enough for anyone else to read, let alone live out. Currently in real life, I am enjoying reading the books based on Nella Last's diary pages that she wrote for the Mass Observation during the war, but she continued this long afterwards. It is very mundane, like real life, like the average Second Life, but there are moments of humour, and great sadness within it also; we all have different interests. And yet, Nella Last's diaries keep me riveted, and there are many parallels between her life and my own.
  9. Boudicca Littlebird wrote: LOL, yes thought it was you, I can see no reason for you to change other than that red top, LOL, what's it like being a mortal. Lucinda always said you were OK, and the only one to show lucinda empathy, like you did me in that thread on instructions that was removed, I knew who you were the second you responded to that, LOL. I do not know about being mortal - I still don't have a reflection when I look into a mirror :matte-motes-big-grin-wink: it really does not mean a thing, the red top thing. So far, I am finding that people will accept my advice/answer as much (or as little) as they did when I was logged in as a red top. You always manage to make a thread that leads to a lot of people taking part; I don't think that is a bad thing. To get people talking, even if it does go off topic, at least it brightens up the forums, that can get dull sometimes.
  10. Bless your heart, and welcome to Second Life Answers, LexxiiBITCH I believe you can't even use words such as t1t (I have to substitute the "i"). Other responses will follow.
  11. Actually, you could try this. Log in with both of them and see which one you have an affinity with. My guess is you will realise why it's a bad idea to delete your main... (or not) I'm the redhead normally, but I'm logged in here on the forums as the blonde. Never feels quite right being Echo, when I'm "really" just an echo of Marigold.
  12. It was doing it for me yesterday, on ie9, but today I'm fine again. It drives me c-r-a-z-eee I hate this forum software
  13. If it can be slayed, I probably will find my attention inworld won't wane so much that I veer off into these forums constantly. ___ Loving your signature line, by the way, and have been taking heed of it. I've been swapping high fat cheese with beetroot and now I'm sh1tting p1nk :matte-motes-big-grin-wink: (mmmm pretty)
  14. Thank you for letting us know, Kreig. Please know that you don't need to start new threads each time you want to add something here on the Answers section. The software is a little bit loopy, and there is no "reply" button, so you have to either click on "options" at the top right hand corner of your original post to "edit" and add more information there, or you can click on "permalink" at the bottom of whichever response you would like to comment on. Some people do access SL via wireless, but it is very problematic and never recommended. Hope to have you hard-wired and back here again soon. :matte-motes-big-grin:
  15. Welcome to Second Life! We can only guess why the program will not load for you; please give us more details by clicking on "options" at the top right hand corner of your original post and "edit" to add your computer's full specifications. Have you enough RAM? Have you the right type of graphics card? If you have the right type of graphics card, do you have the up-to-date drivers installed for it? Looking forward to receiving more information. Also what message do you get on your screen as you try to load SL?
  16. The actual people from whom you purchase the Linden dollars will receive the actual cash, so be very very careful who you choose to purchase Linden dollars from, ie either the Linden dollar exchange on this website or only third party approved ones.

Sometimes I will respond to ridiculous claims with an "Oh really now?" type comment. Like when someone says Second Life gave them viruses. But what is the point of a post like Elite's? While we don't know what was in Elite's mind, the way those comment's come across is like they are discounting the OP's experience. I am having a problem also with a SIM crashing. I have it documented now and we are waiting for SL support to reply. I have experienced the loss of sever la no copy items because of it. If Elite came in here and said, "I'm not experiencing that," well good for them but HOW DOES THAT HELP ME? Sometimes people don't consider the weight of their words. You see, I just didn't read Elite's comment in the same way at all. I mean, I can be a little "Enid Blyton" in my attitude just like that too, even when I have considered the weight of my words very carefully. Elite could have been wholly browned off by yet another groaning thread from one of the usual groaners, or Elite could have had sex that morning in RL and been feeling particularly sparky (:matte-motes-agape:), but really, as their little declaration turned out to be not a useful part of the discussion, offering no suggestions on how the OP could get this issue fixed, it was an easy enough post for the OP (and all the rest of us) to skip over. I have lost count of the number of times I have said out loud in real life (rather than type in a response to a post) "oh bully for you", or "aren't you the lucky one", or "what's wrong sunshine, didn't you have a good sh1t this morning, here are some prunes to help you with your attitude" :matte-motes-big-grin-wink: so now you know a bit of what really goes on in my little wooden head :matte-motes-big-grin: I just LOVE those threads that say Second Life gave them a virus, or the ones where they claim their account has been hacked (when they really haven't) or that they've "tried everything and nothing works", like no one was ever a particle cloud or suffered the pink prim issue... and on ... and on ... Some people don't consider the weight of their words, that's true, and others do, but cannot win whatever they say, and yet why should they stay silent when it's a forum and they are not experiencing the same "traumas" as other people. But Perrie, one thing I will say, truly from my main avatar's heart, I am very sorry that you of all people are having a sim crashing issue. You seem a good bloke, with an upbeat attitude generally. If I could fix it, I would be right round there with my sonic screwdriver. Thanks for the reply. It is not my intention to say someone should never post. I was raised with the maxim, "Think before you speak." Some times I fail to think things through all the way, but I really do try to. I've been able so far to replace all but one of my lost items (my thanks to the Merchants) except one. That Merchant hasn't been logged in for over a week now, but I still have my fingers crossed. Thank you for a reasonable discussion. It's only human to fail sometimes in the "think before you speak" - I am better than I was when I was younger, but occasionally I fail grimly. 18. I know b4gger all about coding, but when you log in to a different location, you're not actually teleporting. Your viewer is just lifting all the information from the server (view console window to view what's happening while you log in), and you arrive at your chosen destination inworld once all the information has been pulled together. When you teleport, or fly/walk/use a vehicle to cross over to another sim, all that information has to go from one server to another, and some of the information from attachments actually travels at a different speed than the main avatar. In times gone by, people would teleport and find themselves at their new destination minus HUDs, shoes, parts of their hair; LL tweaked things, increased throttle too later on, but still sometimes a script in something will slow the progress of the teleportation so much that it fails completely. LL are continually working on this issue. that's why some weeks you might have more success with teleporting and sim crossings than other weeks.

Some girls get offended (they think I am laughing at them). Regardless, I seldom get second dates. What can I do? It's all that giggling after s3x that you do; it's very offputting when we just are expecting you to roll over and start snoring. :matte-motes-big-grin-wink: My problem is I often giggle BEFORE I have s3x witha man, often at the moment when the underpants come off. Dunno why that is. I don't get second dates either.

It just seem like a lot of people on SL have personality problems, rage issues or are depressed. Generally mentally unstable people you know. Do you notice it? I think people who don't notice it are one of those mental people themselves, birds of a feather flock together huh? I've seen and met some good, logical people on SL but the majority just seem mentally unstable. What do you think? I have NEVER met one single person, in Second Life or in Real Life that is not without a quirk that makes them not "normal" (whatever that might be). Even the mother-in-law of our dear Queen Elizabeth, is a 24 carat fruitcake apparently. It just seems there are more crazies "mentally unstable people"in SL, because of the environment. We are all concentrated version of our real life selves perhaps.

  22. I would never ever delete my main (this is not my main, it isn't even my main alt (can you even have a main alt?!). I cannot speak for you, think for you, know for sure what is going on in your head, but please consider how much of yourself, your real personality, your 'essence' you allowed to be in your main avatar. Don't you identify with your main? Won't you feel a little bereft if you delete your main and use your alt as your main? For me, it is still strange to be writing on the forums with my alt. I would not say I am a well-known person, and I am not ashamed of anything I have done, but in any version I choose to be, I am always me. I have, in the past, had occasions where I have wanted to trash my main (I think most people do from time to time), but I know that I would have lived to regret it. She has matured like a fine wine (or a mouldy cheese maybe :matte-motes-wink-tongue:) and to have trashed her and started a new life under using one of my alts as my new main would have been a failure for me. That is not to say that it isn't nice to give the main a bit of a holiday, even if that holiday turns into months or years. And it is almost sacriligious to sacrifice an avatar who had a last name. Delete button is so tempting sometimes, as you say, but really, I think, in your heart of hearts, you know you don't want to trash your main, so let her rest in peace for a while, or even forever. You don't have to make the decision of execution today.
  23. Oh, I see a little more clearly now, I think. I must go back and read Elite's post. Did they actually say as it wasn't happening to them the OP is talking nonsense? The thing is, when I say to people "I'm not experiencing the same issues", I don't say it because under my breath I am muttering "... so it must be your connection or PC", I say it because if I'm not having the same issues as someone else, I am sharing my own experiences, as Elite seemed to be doing above. What annoys me is the attitude of some people now and again that say "don't tell me it's my connection or my computer because ... "I am not stupid" or ..."I have a high spec computer"... when you really do have to ask yourself if someone like myself, who has a computer that is not high spec, and a quite crappy internet connection at times, how come these people with such good equipment and high intelligence are suffering such problems. I personally do not have a high spec computer, far from it, and I am not someone who has a long history of using computers, and yet most of the problems I've encountered during my time in Second Life have been fixable my end. Another thing that really annoys me is when people really do expect Linden Lab to run to their aid the moment they click their fingers because they are "paying a lot into this game". (Not talking about the OP in this instance by the way, because having a sim go down 14 times in 10 days is a bit much, and some extra professional help in the form of a Linden to faddle about underneath and detect what's causing the problem sounds appropriate.) But we all do have to try and look past our own issues, and continue sharing our knowledge/experience, be objective, which can be hard at times. Also thrown into the mix is we mere residents do not have true sight of what really does go on behind the scenes at Linden Lab. There seems to me to be far few staff to cover all the problems, and while in the main I have found people in Live Chat to be helpful, one or two had no people skills at all, little commonsense. One went the extra mile, and you could tell he was also a regular resident, and was very well-informed. You and I both know which Linden individuals are approachable, and unfortunately they are the ones that tend to get most of the flack, because people vent to them all their frustrations, and they cannot fix all the issues that residents have - heck even Bill Gates isn't able to fix all the problems his customers have either.
  24. Grace, there is absolutely no reason why should remain in this state. I urge you to take a look at this website (made for Phoenix viewer users, but actually works for every type of viewer)... http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/bake_fail Do not speed read it, but please do what your English teacher would have requested you do with comprehension tests at school (:matte-motes-wink:) ... first read the explanation of why this happens, and work through, very slowly and carefully, the suggestions from the top one. I appreciate you have done everything already, but if you want this issue fixing, you're going to have to start over as though it was a brand new problem. You start with the first suggestion in the link. And wait for a few minutes to see if it takes effect. If that does not work, go onto the next suggestion, and again, wait for a few minutes. Please try to be on hard wired connection and not wireless. And know that this is an extremely common problem. I wish you lots of luck, and hope you will come back to this thread and say YAY this (whatever did) worked for me!!! :matte-motes-big-grin:
  25. On my main account I had some issues when I swapped over to using V3; orange cloud. I waited a few minutes, still an orange cloud, but flying upwards, and I was about 150m up, my av started to rezz properly. Some days it will, some days it won't, and some days only the character test will work for me, but we'll test and we'll try and we'll rezz in the end :matte-motes-big-grin-wink:
