  2. OK. Next thing to try. Top menus, depending which viewer you're using, "me" or "Edit">>Preferences>>Network and clear cache. Log out. Bring up viewer screen, change login start location to Furball and log in. Open inventory window and wait for it to load fully before doing anything else. Now please do the character test.
  3. You are unlucky to have such a massive failure rate with your teleportation, and it suggests to me that either you're using a wireless connection and losing part of it while teleporting, or (more likely) you are wearing an attachment that fails to go through the teleport process with the rest of you. Certain scripted items can cause such a problem. If you are wearing hair that has a resizer script, for example, this would be a likely culprit. Ditto certain HUDs. Test this by removing all your attachments and teleporting around the grid and see if there is less of a failure rate for your teleports. By a process of elimination you can work out what is causing this problem for you.
  4. Welcome to Second Life Forums, Grace. You've tried all the other stuff. Please try a character test. If you've never done this before, you'll find the option in one of the menus at the top of your viewer screen. It takes your avatar back to a basic style one, and you'll need to then find your favourite skin, shape, hair, clothing, HUDS in your inventory.
  5. Unofficially I actually refer to them as crumbled up Oxo cubes , because that's what they remind me of
  6. SinfulPrince wrote: I know you are hurting . And what this person did to you IS spiteful/wrong all of that. But he did not "steal" it. You gave it willingly. If someone in rl gives me something, particularly having acknowledged that it was "given" not "loaned" then it is mine. On the internet companies and indiv are not allowed to use the image of someone without permission because its considered "in the media". I guess the question is whether someones profile qualifies as media. On the matter of disclosing someone else personal information, really it kinda sounds to me like the only person making it your personal information is you since your SL name/avi name wouldn't have been able to be linked to the photo except for the fact that you're telling people its you And if other people (or even you?) display this picture on profiles then it isn't that he's disclosing (cuz it would be disclosed those other places without complaint) but that its "him" doing it. -Could sound like you want LL to sort out a relationship problem. Of all the stances , the one I would least question is defamation. Clearly its that. And they may tell him to pull it down.( just cuz it says "b****" ) But again, is he identifying the avi? My ex-partner gave me some lovely RL photos when we were together, and although I didn't steal them, if I share them here with you all, I know that I would be doing something extremely wrong, and probably in this context, I would lose my SL account. There is allegedly at least one website where it's possible to find out real life information from a photo, if it has been posted elsewhere on the web. It's disclosure and defamation, and if the OP reports the fella, an official warning from LL that he could face losing his account, might just be the wake up call he needs to move on with his life and stop being so mardy.
  7. Are you telling me that there is some personal issue between Elite and the OP? I wondered why the OP was not taking her own advice and not reading/replying to posts that she did not agree with or were of no help to her. As we are in the Forums rather than the Answers section, opinions are good, but I hate when things turn personal, because it is never constructive. Aside from the people involved in the minor personality clashes and differences of opinions that get out of hand, there are also the people who may read the threads, and avoid from that moment on any threads that contain certain people. This is a shame, because those same residents who become put off by negativity and fighting may occasionally have a solution available. I will let you into a little secret. I know that you get fed up with certain people looking at SL through rose-tinted spectacles. I would appear to be one of those people, BUT believe me I do actually see the many flaws. However, I truly do not run into all of the problems that people seem to have; many of which are down to the individual's lack of patience or knowledge with/of their own computer system. Regarding Iam's issues, if I found my own land was inaccessible 14 times in 10 days, I would be poking Lindens with a sharp stick by now, but in the meantime I would be trying to work out if there was anything I could be managing at my land, as I would realise I must have some content that is clashing with new code. As frustrating as this is, to have new code make something fail to work, it happens in real life too. Take, for instance, the UK's recent switchover to digital from analogue. With no consultation, with no compensation, we have had to pay for new aerials and extra television receivers to cover the three televisions in the house. The fourth television cannot be adapted to work with digital. It sounds like I am digressing, but what I'm trying to point out is these things happen sometimes, and sometimes we have to find a way of working out how to help ourselves. The personal comments that come out between certain residents who dare to have different opinions from each other must be a major cause of residents abandoning these forums! :catmad: I have masochistic tendencies, mixed with a little OCD; this is what keeps me here in one form or another :matte-motes-big-grin-wink:
  8. Greetings, june555, welcome to Second Life Answers. The object won't go away? Is it spamming you, sending you messages? If so, it should probably be giving you a location too. Read the whole of the message it gives you and there will be perhaps a location - example: Furball 128.43, 32.999, 62.444 - which would mean, if you open your world map, and enter the location, and opt to "show location", you'll get a red arrow on your screen that will lead you right to where the object is. If the object is seemingly not there, press "ctrl" "alt" and "t" at the same time to highlight invisible objects. Please let us know more by clicking on "options" at the top right hand corner of your original post and "edit". Edited to add: if the object belongs to you, you can just click on it and take it to your inventory. If it belongs to someone else but is on land owned by you, you can just click on it and return it.
  9. Latest JIRA I can find on this particular issue is ... https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-29357
  10. Phil Deakins wrote: Sorry to interupt this discussion but I just have to express my pleasure at your picture finally being back :matte-motes-big-grin: Back to the topic... Report it. It may not do any good but it won't do any harm and it may do some good. I know it is grossly immature of me, but an hour on, and I can still hear in my head: Charolotte and Phil ... sitting in a tree ... KAY. EYE ESS ESS EYE ENN GEE ______ Have to agree though; if I wasn't already 'batting for the other side' Charolotte's great profile photo would surely turn my head You shure are purdy, girl :matte-motes-wink-tongue: _______ And back to topic, and addressed to the OP: I hope you get a happy and successful outcome, and can enjoy the rest of your SLife without such harrassment as you have already endured.
  11. Were you working in a sandbox or on land that has an autoreturn? If so, it is more than likely your object has been returned to your inventory as a consolidated cube. Or it might have become a "ghost prim". If you walk around the area where you were working on the build, do you bump into anything? A region restart would fix that. Or it might have relocated itself to the south west corner of the sim at the coordinates of 0,0,0.
  12. With due respect, Iam, Elite was just throwing in their own experience, not declaring themselves to be the only one in the game. I'm not wishing to seem at all confrontational, but when you post here on these forums, they are open for discussion, and part of that discussion does not mean firing back in a personal way at someone who would be helping you, if they had got experience of running into the same problems as yourself. Elite, I am sure, is as puzzled as myself and Thinkerer, and others who read and/or comment on your threads, why you are having such extreme issues with your land at Zerango. Being part of the Beta Server group also makes us curious to learn (maybe even only a little bit) of how Second Life functions. The problem is, when you fire off at people, saying things such as "you don't have to read or comment" (sic), it alienates a lot of people, and they feel reluctant to offer help/advice/opinions on future occasions when you are seeking support. Please have a think about this. I believe your intention when starting this thread was to make as many people aware as possible that something is not quite right in SL, and not being fixed by LL. Very few people here are actually here to bring you down or make your situation worse; quite the opposite in fact. Did you follow the great suggestion in Thinkerer's post - I mean about eliminating parcel by parcel where the rogue script might be lying that can be causing repeated crashing of the sim?
  13. Welcome to Second Life Answers, Dade I'm having a flashback to 2008 when it was quite commonplace to find a shoe or hair or other attachment up one's butt or tucked behind a knee after teleporting or logging in. It might be an optical illusion. What happens when you or people around you change group tags? Or do you have to detach and re-attach the attachments when this occurs?
  14. Greetings, Supersatan3 Maybe there will be suggestions that are useful for you on this other thread... http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Viewers/Unable-to-start-application-correctly-On-all-viewers-except/qaq-p/1609325 Other responses may also follow here too.
  15. Hello, MrF. You need to contact support by clicking on the "Help" option to the top of this screen, scrolling down and on the right hand side you'll see the option to contact support. Submit a ticket. Linden Lab will ask you some security questions and you should be able to continue using your avatar. Wishing you luck.
  16. Hello, JJValero Did you get some responses inworld about this one? I didn't respond earlier, because I thought you'd probably get better answers than I could give, but just in case, if you are just needing something as a one-off, for a photo-shoot or suchlike, you can probably find a similar pointing gesture for free on Second Life Marketplace, and couple that with a facial expression emoter (using a couple of the options simultaneously). Or for more precise animation of limbs and facial features, you could look on Marketplace for Anypose HUD. Hope you find what you are looking for anyway.
  17. Welcome to Second Life Answers, Zenda. If you have premium membership, you can get very quick help often on this particular issue via Live Chat (via the "help" button at the top of this screen). There have been several occasions this week of sims going offline and not coming back online straightaway. If they don't come back online within the hour, I would always contact Support directly to alert them of this problem.
  18. I think you need to find a completely different tactic and find somewhere else other than Weapons Testing Sandbox to test weapons. I'll contact you inworld with some locations. Unfortunately, even though there are rules about harrassing others, some areas are more prone to continuing issues with griefers and their alts.
  19. Welcome to Second Life Answers, dagatorzz. I'm not 100% I'm understanding what you're meaning, but I can tell you that the Linden Homes have proved so popular that sometimes a chosen theme of Linden Home will temporarily run out and Linden Lab offer an alternative. You do not have to accept or stay in a Linden Home. You can abandon it and try again to obtain the type of Linden Home of your choice. I hope this answer is helpful to you. Edited to add: There is lots more information about the Linden Homes on the official Second Life Knowledge Base. Here is the link for you... http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Linden-Homes/ta-p/700103 If you wish to add more to this thread, you can do so by clicking on "options" at the top right hand corner of your original post and "edit", or you can respond to each individual post by clicking on "permalink" at the bottom left of each post.
  20. Greetings! I'd go with Charolotte's answer, submit an abuse report inworld, ensuring you do so with a screenshot of the photo and the word "b*tch" that your ex-partner has used to defame you. This would come under the Community Standards/Terms of Service as being under harrassment and defamation of character. Also, as you gave him the photo, not to share with the whole wide world, it is disclosure. LL may choose not to do anything about this, or they may give him a stern warning. The best you can do though is mute/block him, do not speak of him with anyone, not even your friends, put him into the land of the non-existent, and his bitterness towards you will soon burn itself out.
  21. Animated texture - something like a kaleidoscopic 'void' - would be great. I seem to remember having to use the 'sit' function to use teleporters within sims that could sometimes give the illusion of travelling through multi-coloured tunnels and chambers. Fun, but I get a little motion sick too.:matte-motes-frown: :matte-motes-big-grin-wink:
  22. I considered your response carefully, and I am concerned to find that there is neither a prison nor a retirement home in my locality that I could truly recommend. :matte-motes-frown: When I retire, I would like to be able to remain as independent as possible, and live somewhere on a gated community where there are activities to join and a warden/caretaker/doctor/shop close by, should I need any of these services. Easy living.
  23. Perrie Juran wrote: jwenting wrote: Echo Hermit wrote: I was a little bit freaked out when Google Earth got quite so close in to where I was living; but my civil service friend was outraged. But I don't think it is beyond the realms of possibility that we will all be microchipped from birth, so that the Government knows exactly where we are and who we are with at all times, and where we shop/eat/work. Frightening thought ! :matte-motes-shocked: he was outraged but he (or his employer) does the same thing and worse... As to those chips, the main reason they're not yet used is that the powersources don't last a human lifetime. The best can be done in a decent size package is a few decades (think pacemakers). The UK and I think other countries are already running pilot programs where inmates in retirement homes get the things installed in their (single pair of) shoes (and are of course not allowed to go barefoot at any time). Inmates in Retirement Homes? Damn, I was wondering how i was going to support myself when I retired. I need to move there and commit a crime. What a country that they even allow criminals to retire. And just think of all the fun we could have swapping shoes. Mass comedy! Double kudos for you, Perrie :matte-motes-big-grin-squint: I think if they tried it in the UK they'd try it in prisons first. Maybe jwenting just got confused, because UK prisons are so cushy they are the standards that we'd desire retirement homes to be, and certainly a whole lot cleaner.
  24. I agree there do seem to have been a lot of issues introduced with the last deploy; and Support staff must have been pushed to the limits. You may be the only person who is attempting to start a discussion about the issue of sims going offline and not coming back up/back up properly here on the forums, and awareness is key. The more people submit support tickets to LL, the more they will be able to see the common denominator and work towards a solution. I've heard people with similar issues speak in Second Life Beta group chat, but I know of no more than six others who have suffered with this, which is relatively small when you think in terms of the total number of sims in Second Life. Thinkerer's idea to find out by a process of elimination which script is clashing with current code is an excellent one, although if it was not fun for me to be rooting out rogue scripts, I would certainly be onto Concierge/Live Chat to arrange for a member of staff to come out. I understand how, in good faith, you buy or use a script and if it works ok in the first place, you feel it should always work. Thinking back to 2008 when Havok 4 came into being, and how I had a rottweiler dog that caused massive chaos on the sim where I lived, it was a Linden who worked out it was his script that was causing the problem. We've all got our own ways of dealing with things; some people are very calm, some people shout, and I actually get the feeling - mainly from own experience and the experience of friends and associates in world - that LL respond better to calm and rational. Linden Lab are not the enemy, and I don't think they cause these problems on purpose. Just try and bear that in mind if you can. Hopefully after this, the next lot of problems will fall onto someone else. It's hard to modify a running program, and never recommended, there are bound to be good weeks and bad ones.
  25. Please go to the other thread you posted on ... http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Second-Life-Server/SIMS-Down/m-p/1633431#M6845 Thinkerer has some extremely practical advice there that might provide a solution with your current problem (or at least some oil for your squeaky wheel)
