  1. Thats a great idea for merchants! Or people with huge inventories lol And untill we get something like that, you can take photos of your outfits and save them to your drive, or even upload somewhere (there are many sites you can do that), put some description.. or whatever you want. I'm not a merchant and think for myself, and other average sl users, we don't really need huge inventories, I delete all folders thats I can't remember. For others, I do the old simple way - keep thumbnail images in my mind lol
  2. Size - bigger is better lol, turn antialiasing on - choose the value your pc can handle, and some nice windlights:)
  3. Heya Ricky:) Type Kuso in search, atm I can't go inworld to get a lm but its a really crowded place. There you can buy single animations to put in your AO. I think they are like 10L$, for one animation lol
  4. Hello! My display name is Pookey and I don't need any special characters :matte-motes-tongue:
  5. in rl lol and for serious, when you're online, whatever time, open the world map and look for green dots. I would do that. Good luck btw I'm from Europe! But I don't go out in sl... Wat do you exactly mean by hanging out? :matte-motes-big-grin:
  6. It depends of a person you're giving a tip. We're all different. I worked for tips for a while, and to be honest, I always wanted a big tip. But if I got only 5$L and a few words in a public chat or in IM, a little thank you and something like "its all I can give you now" then those 5$L are worth more than 500$L from someone else.
  7. I'm sorry to hear about the classes but don't give up and, as you said, use that time to learn and grow:) I wish you all the best and hope you will be a happy and well known model one day;)

School? That is so neat!! Do you have any recs? I think I saw you commenting on another modeling thread, so I'm sure you are familiar with all of this. I appreciate the reply <3 I'm not really familiar, I was some kind of a shop model before I learned to do something else. Never earned some decent money out of it and always got clothes that I didn't wear:p for me it was boring... And now I get invitations to shows. Usually from groups or friends. Actually strange people who are just on my friends list lol. I go when I don't have something else to do. All you need to do is make your friends list bigger, fill it with shop owners, designers, bloggers, go in world and search what you're interested in, then action lol Make a fb, flickr, twitter, linkedin, and all you can think of for your avi. Connect everywhere you can! Read blogs, forums.. Advertise your avi. Have fun! Learn to make photos so you don't need to pay huge amounts for portfolios or any other photos that you'll need to have... Schools are not obligatory but they connect you with the right people. And, being a model is a quiet job, all you do is wear stuff and walk up and down on runways (once I had to walk on a runway in a shape of a letter S, and allthough it was protected I still needed to walk on the middle, and I had to highlight invisible so i can see where are the edges and to know do I need to turn left or right lol, cause I could not see the floor while I walk, but it was so small that my camera was above it!), noone asks you anything and basically you don't create. Just walk around, be pretty, listen and smile. Thats what I didn't like.
  9. Omg your avi is beautiful! Do you want to be a model in fashion shows, some kind of a shop model or to model clothes for taking photos? You can search for in world modeling agancies, apply and pay to attend school. I would recommend you to go and visit a few fashion shows, to see with how much lag the models need to fight lol
  10. Heya Nicole! There are free classes, check under events - education on your SL Dashboard. I was attending them, its like you're in school again lol But if you really can't organize your time to attend them, my advice would be to start like most of people do: ask Google and Youtube:) tons and tons of amazing tutorials, you just need to search what you're interested in:) I just typed "building in second life" and here's one:
  11. I'm trying to imagine my rl avatar walking around in an outfit like the ones I buy at Avid... looool. No, rl me is more "normal looking". And shorter. The rest is kinda same. In rl i wear jeans, in sl i find them boring. In rl i rarely wear dresses, in sl i wear them often. In sl 90% of the time my avi wears boots, I can't do that in rl lol I can't put some nice wings on and walk like that in rl... Also, I loooove crazy hairs in sl! RL is just a boring long blonde lol
  12. No. Only if others have same windlight setting as she has, then they could see her smooth. Otherwise they see her not smooth, like she was seeing herself without a facelight.
  13. Sure Willow, I'll be glad to help you:) /me hopes those sheeps are still alive lol
  14. 5680$L if she asked in all 40 groups and got the money.. LoooooL I had a notecard with a list of landmarks, to go visit places with sheeps. Every sheep gave you 1 or 2 lindens. I was giving that notecard to every beggar telling them to go and earn the money:)
  15. hahaha thats a great story JeanneAnne! And he definatelly deserved it lol And about that Artis guy, I'm not aware of any relations but what I've experienced so far in SL wouldn't be surprised if we actually are related! he looks cute btw
  16. On my first few days, when I was wandering around a freebie place all alone and "buying" everything, I met a vampire, Connel Couturier. He took me to Sophistishapes and bought me my first shape, then to Laq for my first skin. Then he introduced me to his friend, polly Barrineaux who gave me nice clothes and hairs. They gave me home and explained everything, also explained that I can't make my own money because I'm too young, so he was giving me lindens to go shopping. Second guy I met, was some master, Eimages Oxigen, who explained me what the collar is and never to accept it. Also about slaves and rp. But he wasn't my master, just wanted to help. And the first lady who hired me to be a model in her shop, I think her name was Diane Writer but I'm not sure cause she nicely told me she is going to defriend me because I was sending massive tps when I started to work in one club lol

Anahata Love wrote: i find people invite me to be their friend within a half hour of chatting with them. then i never talk to them again. they invite me, and i don't know the 'etiquette' of whether i should say hi to them, or wait for them to talk to me. I had the same situation xy of times and I guess its quite common in SL, and really I could be friend to any of those people. But the truth is, after few days I have no idea who the person was, and there is always something or someone more urgent then to go in IM and ask that person something like Hey hows your day? Or whatever... so I just leave it... Funny is, when you wander around some place and see a green dot on your map, but you don't remember the name. The other person sees same. So you chase one another just to see who is that friend you forgot about. SL is really small sometimes;)
  18. I think I saw he posted something on Flickr today.. or yesterday lol, but he's here.. around:) i guess lol
  19. F...!!! For a moment I saw myself checking, (before buying an item) not only reviews, but also a name of the merchant, name of the shop, and who knows what else... Voted, sry this happens...
  20. No.There are tons of people proud of everything they found in SL - for free. Its their way of living it. If you need L$ to play SL, you can: - collect them from money trees, sploders or contests, - buy them, - earn them, or - find someone who will give you some L$... Some people decide they won't go out today, so instead of spending money on drinks/food or whatever they would buy that day, they buy L$. Its up to you to decide what to do with your money, rl or sl... Most of the people I know find it challenging to earn L$ by making and selling things they make. But if you want instant L$, you don't have time to learn how to create them, you don't wan't to buy them, then you have no choice then go and play some other games where, I suppose, you don't need time and skills to get some pixel money:)
  21. Not really.. or not at all. I was playing SL on a daily basis, spending 5-6 hours every day but it was more because I was too lazy to logout and log back in again after an hour to check something. Easier to put myself on busy and go afk:) I thought I was addicted but really, turning my pc on and going in SL was not the first thing I did when I woke up... My pc broke I think it was end of July... I could log in with my laptop and play but it was kinda slow (allthough on lowest preferences), I could not make nice photos and since that was the only thing that interested me at that time, I took a little break from SL. I thought its going to be a few days only. But time runs fast lol I login every now and then to pay the rent, pick up some inventory offers or important notecards, maybe hello to somene and log off after 5mins. I never saw a single mesh item inworld, haven't tried the latest LL Viewer3, have no idea what viewer I'll be using now and its easier not to login at all then to make 5000 adjustments or spend few hours searching through web on "how to fix my problem" cause I know I'll have them! (I tend to experience every possible bug and problem that exist lol) Maybe when it gets colder here, when I become too lazy to put my jacket on and go out, maybe I'll find something interesting beside photos that will make me spend more time inworld... For now I am spending all my home-lazy time on forums and Flickr!:matte-motes-nerdy:
  22. On one of my "in store modeling" jobs I was not allowed to talk with customers, only chat with my friends in IM, and the person who hired me was checking me from time to time sending her friends or whoever who would IM me and see if I will reply! I never figured out why she hired a live model and wanted her to act like a bot lol On another job, one day I was standing in front of a desk, a client comes in, I say Hello, welcome... he passes by me without a word, goes in another room and clicks on my pager (with my photo on it!), I follow him, laugh and ask Why did you ignored me a moment ago and now you page me? He says I was thinking you're a bot! I don't understand whats the purpose of having a bot or a model if you have demos in the shop? One nice shop that sells shapes has a few bots in the middle of a shop. Only purpose I could find is: I tried one of their male shapes (with my female skin on), took my modeling hud on, jumped on his stand and found a really hot pose to take a photo with that bot. My SL sis was with me and she did it too. It was funny so I guess that could be it lol And on one of the jobs I was hiring models, only thing they needed to do is to right-click and sit on the artwork I told them to, take the clothes off and either chat with the guests or go afk. After the shift they needed to take the clothes on, stand up and say Bye:) some needed to be trained to do that! And Amethyst said same, allthough they tell you they will come and work the shift, it happens that you need to search for a cover 5 mins before their shift starts, or you just have an empty space. You don't need to pay the bot, bot never complains, is always on time for the shift, during the shift you don't need to watch how the bot behaves and you don't need to train it. So if its a simple job, like standing and being pretty, then sure I would go with the bot. If its something more complicated like answering a customers questions or showing the place then real people:)
  23. If its true it would be on our dashboards. Don't you think?
  24. I wanted to start this thread simply to point at some questions, like a little reminder, what to decide before visiting any photo studio and ordering a photo. What I noticed is that some people are coming to the studio asking for a photo but they can't decide what kind of a photo they want (the usuall answer was "make me nice") then after seeing the final work, the reaction was "Its a nice work but I din't had that in my mind"... or something like that. First of all, you are not the only client. Photographer usually has many photos waiting to be done and if you ordered one photo, don't expect 5 different examples so you can choose one you like and pay for that one. It can happen that your choosen photographer is not available the same second you walk into the studio (maybe she's hungry rl or whatever lol). A little patience can make your final photo better:) Good thing to mention is what you like/hate (if, for example you ordered a cute photo, it can come to my mind to put a little butterfly in your close up photo just to find out later you hate butterflies). Do you wan't to look smart, sexy, dreamy, dangerous, do you wan't your photo to burst with colors or you prefer few tones of one color? Check the photographers portfolio. Ask for a link if you can't find one. Say for what purpose you need the photo? Search through other photos anywhere on the web, I bet there is at least one you really liked and you want something similar. I'm sure I'll remember more things but for now I leave to others to add their own:)
