  1. lol @Muffin, yes I saw that too and explained it to myself that calendar was not the photographic work of that person. @tako, I appologized. And my problem was that I was a little dissapointed because I expected to see more creativity work, even if it was a freebie. @greek, tnx for checking my work, I would be happy to get some link and see yours too, atm I am away from SL and I don't want to login
  2. I'm not so sure about the part "These users will be prompted to submit an image of a government-issued photo ID, which is deleted after verification.." Its a known fact that Fb doesn't even delete reported photos! http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2399914,00.asp
  3. greek Wingtips wrote: So sorry I thought a calendar only gave infomation about the months and dates, poss 99% calendars serve that purpose If that was the case then calendars would be just plain paper with dates... Anyway... You offered a calendar as a free gift to celebrate opening of your studio. Great! You mention one thing, its a freebie, so correct me if I'm wrong, you think freebies should not look good? That calendar represents your studio, its the only thing you offered here for us to see and it should make me want to go and check more of your work. Right? Maybe I was wrong for not choosing the right words, Muffin was more carefull and tried to explain you that calendar, as your product, as the only thing you offered the whole forum community to see, needs to represent the best of you. Its purpose is to attract as many people possible, not only the targeted one. I see you're offended, I didn't want to hurt you in any way. Sorry.
  4. greek Wingtips wrote: no one has the right to judge a photo than person who looks at it. But everyone is entitled to their opinions Yes it was my opinion, and if I put it in my SL home, I want it to tell me a story, besides a date lol I wish you all the best!
  5. huh:matte-motes-bored: January... you two standing in front of some background. February... again, you two standing in front of some background, same pose and same clothes. March.... you two standing, but switched places. Again, same clothes. April... you two standing, same pose from March, and same clothes. May... finally some other pose, but again, same clothes. June... this one is cool, but you cut off his legs at half (either cut the whole legs or below legs), same clothes again. July.. same pose from April, you two standing in same clothes. August... pose from January, same clothes. Here I got bored lol. The photos should have some story to tell, not just two avatars standing in front of some background that you can find on xy sites... The only message/story I got here is that you two didn't change clothes the whole year:matte-motes-big-grin-squint:
  6. Login to your SL dasboard, click on community and choose events. There's SL time
  7. Locked in your eyes Unrevealed diversity Forbidden excellence The first look My choice! Untamed beauty Awakening Look at me The touch of perfection Sharp eye Soft light Now I want a tip for using my brain lol
  8. SL photo contests are, usually, for the people who are able to bring more friends to vote for them. As a photographer, you can look at it as advertising boards to show your skills. Every single person saw the winning photo, laughed at it and moved on. But some also looked at other photos and there is your chance. For someone to see your photo and say "Hey this one looks cool! Lets check the profile of this person". Good luck
  9. Yes, it should be there. I haven't used V3 in a while but that option is under graphic preferences in all viewers. When you open graphics window it was at the top, saying Run Second life in a window. Hope you find it...
  10. In your graphic preferences window, at the top. Its either run SL in a window or run Phoenix/any other viewer lol
  11. Heya! I am a year and a half here... 1) to dress, open your inventory by clicking on a suitcase icon at the bottom fo your viewer. Locate the folder with clothes you want to wear, right click on that folder and wear items. If you want to combine items from different outfits, then you will locate them one by one and wear. You can also wear an item by double clicking it. But wear is not enough, you need to learn how to adjust them on your avatar. You need to learn what items are modifiable, and what is the difference in permissions. You will learn how to edit items. How to make copies and how to box them so they don't take too much room in your inventory. The items you buy are usually boxed, so you need to open them. Those boxes you bought, you need to rezz them on the ground, and rezz means to take them from your inventory and drag on the ground. But you need to be on a sim that allows rezzing. So search for a sandbox. There you will also need to learn about land, and prims, permissions, groups. Also, good thing is to start to organize your inventory now, before you get too many items there. 2) Hm.. what about vampires? do u want to become one? or you already are one and want to rank up.. anyway... Vampires count souls, so the basic thing is to go around, involve and collect as many souls as you can. Many use alts to start. And if you stay longer in the comunnity, you will see that cheating with alts is usuall thing, and it can happen that all those friends you had are just one person with many alts and many many extra time lol! Oki, so you need to buy that vamp hud, and there you have some notecards with all instructions, you need to read it by yourself. If you're not a vamp allready, smart move would be to be a blood doll for a while, untill you find a nice clan. There are actually many people amongst vamps who will help you start. But they will ask your soul lol. If you're a vamp and want to become human again you can do it. You can do whatever you want, just need to buy the right potion for it. I was a vamp for few months and I got bored. Figured out I can always dress as a vampire, and thats the main thing that attracted me. 3) You can't get a job in SL untill you become older, some ask for at least 30 days, some ask more. You can go and search for some job agencies, to see what jobs are available and what are requirements. Many offer training. I tried to be a sales representative, a model, greeter, I worked at a help desk, I was a hostess, a manager and now I'm a photographer. One thing about jobs in SL, the people you work for act like its a RL job, so you need to be serious, you need to have a shedule, be proffesional, and not to fool around. If they ask you for 10 hours weekly, you are expected to spend at least 1o hours weekly there so dont apply if you're not sure about it. It will make life easier for everyone lol 4), 5), 6)..... You're new. Relax, take it slow. We were all new. And its not really interesting if you try to learn everything in a week. Learn things one by one, we're all here helpfull and still learning too. Go on your dashboard and search for events, take some classes. Join inworld support groups. You can learn much just by reading the group chat. Also the first reply you got was to visit NCI. Its a crowded place with many avatars, most of them are new residents who are learning about stuff. I spent alot of time there. The best experience is to take it slow and enjoy every step, this is not a race. And 200L per week is nothing compared with the effort a person is going to give in teaching you
  12. I use my own tool for muting people, far better than LL has. Its called ignore :matte-motes-big-grin-wink:
  13. I had that line once before and it went with installing the new version of the viewer. I think... Does it happen on all viewers or just SL? Did you do something with antialiasing? Try to play with it and try to un/check run viewer in a window. For some reason, that thing was fixing two bugs I had.
  14. hmmmm 1. learn to draw hair 2. practice editing photos so I can do it faster; 3. get some time and finally set up my x-poser stand thats waiting in my inventory for 6 months now lol; 4. find some time so I could finally do some free photos for my sl friends; 5. learn how to make poses!
  15. Heya! There are many free public photo studios and you can go there and use them. No need for renting land. If you're not comfortable with it, I have a small plot that I use only for taking snapshots, displaying photos for previews and meeting with clients. And I wouldn't mind you come there and use it whenever you want. It has 234 prims and I think i only used half, or less lol The thing is, you only need few prims for a background and a few pose stands, the rest is just for showing off lol. For a photographer that is starting the most important thing is to have clients. And poses:) I would be happy if you focused your attention to getting clients and use my place while you do that. Feel free to contact me here or inworld!
  16. Its a normal thing for some residents... I have problems too. Just be online, don't buy too much items at once, don't go busy lol, relog few times, and if you do not receive items, buy again or, if you payed, write a note to the merchant asking for a redelivery. And don't forget to copy the transaction history showing when you bought an item:)
  17. I allready added you on Flickr and can't wait to see more of your work! And about your idea to go with taking pics of places and selling them. Honestly, I am not really sure you could make a nice profit out of it. Imagine you're searching for some pic, would you go search it inworld and pay for it or would you just simple download some nice background from thousand of free sites? You can make amazing photos and set a shop somewhere inworld, but thats just a tiny effort, I think you need to spend too much time on advertising your place and bringing customers in. And thats only taking the time you would usually spend on doing more pics or some other things lol. Maybe try with Marketplace shop first and see how that goes? I'm not saying your photos are not good, they are great!, but sl is full of shops with great items, shops that are usually empty. I would not want you to pay the rent for something that will hardly pay off. But if you want, try it for a month and see. One idea I had, don't know if you will like it or not, but maybe you could try and make backgrounds for photographers? For example, I had one client who wanted to make a pic of him sitting at some office. But every office photo I found was not right. So I spent 2 days teleporting from place to place inworld and searching for some offices. Would be much easier if I could just buy that photo.
  18. If its urgent and you need the item in the next 5mins, you wont get it. If you relog few times, that might speed up the process. If you log out and go have a nap, there is a big chance that you will receive your item next time you login. Good practice is to think in advance and buy today what you will need in the next day or better two. But Marketplace is great for looking at pics and checking can you see the item inworld, then teleport to the shop and buy it there. Also, before you buy, check if the mechant is online, and buy straight from the person, thats the best choice!
  19. Heya Khalessii, your both photos are lovely! And if you like to take photos, go for it! And now few tips lol, go outside, somewhere near water, focus on your avatar and open your enviroment editor. Play with all sliders and try all presets. You can't break anything;) Just take many snapshots, practice. Learn about human proportions, watch how the light reflects on real people. Learn as much as you can about light. That will help you with shadows. Learn how to draw hands and feets. Learn about perspective. When I take my photos, I do it without shadows, and later I draw them (still learning lol) Also, if you want to become a photographer and take photos of other avis for lindens, remember, every photo you make will be a custom work. Be prepared to listen carefully what a person wants to get, to ask tons of questions, and to deal with picky people. Make yourself a Flickr account and post your photos there. Actually post your photos on every place you can think of:) And good luck! Let us know about your progress!
  20. You gotta love SL bugs lol Oki thank you everyone, i'll check with him to see if he's stuck on that day when I payed him, and also try to send some linden love, maybe it causes some change.
  21. Thank you both for your replies! Here is how it looks: [15:21] Second Life: Pookey (tamara.artis) is online. [15:21] Second Life: Pookey (tamara.artis) paid you L$50. I sent him 50L few weeks ago, just opened his profile and payed, and thats all. Last message he saw yesterday when he loged in, my transaction history doesn't show that I have payed him, and I don't miss any money. I'm usually at some other place when it happens, and it happens when he logs in, so I'm not sure how to check scripts (and what scripts) around him. Its just annoying and I'm curious to find out why and how its happening! And also, reminding Pussycat to friend me lol
  22. Hello dear forum people! Pookey is my display name and my friend gets this offline message every now and then. Anyone has any idea why? I don't send him money and even if I did, I would do it when he is online.
  23. Heya! I don't know how well you know everything about SL photography, but lets say you know it and you're good at it. First, before you start your own business, make sure you have clients! My advice is to do what you like - make photos. Make tons of them. Post them wherever you can. When your skills improve, people will ask you to do photos for them. Do photos for your friends. And their friends. For start, they will be your advertising tools. Every new person that asks you to do a photo is your new client. Besides clients, you need to learn how to run a business. Search for all possible advertising tools. Learn about customer service. Spend many hours in improving your skills. If I were you I would: 1. become a photographer, 2. become a manager in the photography studio, 3. collect tons of clients. ... Then open a business:)
