GreenLantern Excelsior wrote: There has been constant, unrelenting griefing recently where multiple Abuse Reports are written, but Linden Lab takes many hours to respond and remove the griefer objects. These objects often have extremely offensive photos of pornography, dead and mutilated bodies, and heart-wrenching animal abuse. Some people believe that Second Life would be a better place to visit if Linden Lab would give selected volunteer residents the ability to stop griefer attacks as they are occurring. There are organized, trained groups in Second Life whose members respond to these griefer attacks 24 hours a day and submit Abuse Reports to Linden Lab. Employees are expensive. Many companies and agencies are learning that working with volunteers provides equivalent service to that obtained from a paid employee at little or no cost. We have already created a framework for a pilot program to implement a volunteer Governance Team to respond to griefer attacks. Can we speak to someone in Linden Lab to discuss this idea? I wish there was a like button. LIKE!
  2. No new feet bones? I was hoping to get rid of all the different feet that load with mesh bodies, and the seam. It would be nice if we could pose the feet. I don't think feet need as many bones as hands, but it would be nice to have the feet be able to flat or high-heeled without separate meshes. Currently, mesh body makers load all the different feet types and make them all transparent, except the one you are using. I was hoping to get rid of that laggyness.
  3. What you probably have, is a "boxed" item. You will need to either wear it or rez it (set it down in a sandbox), then right-click and "open". Wait until you see items listed in the popup window, then click "copy to Inventory." You can also pick "copy and wear" but that makes you wear everything.
  4. You need to ask the giver of the gift card, or join the caspervend inworld group. I know there was an old version of the gift card system that was not very good, but I thought casper disabled it.
  5. Amethyst Jetaime wrote: Are you sure? At one time you could 'buy' a last name for your use and for the use of other avatars associated with you. The reason for the request had to meet certain criteria, such as for business reasons or you were a RL celebrity and wanted to have your avatar have your RL name.. They didn't change the name on your account, you got a new avatar. The fee? $1000 US billed annually for as long as the last name was used by an active account. So get rich and famous in RL or start a company and grow it into a big brand name with deep pockets and perhaps you could still buy a special name. Its been years since I've seen this done though, so maybe they don't allow it anymore or maybe no one is interested in paying such a large fee. A display name is a much cheaper alternative since it is free. Like I said, squandered opportunity. Make it so expensive that no one wants it I use my "display name." Unfortunately, about 90% of SL's scripts and everything else that attempts to call me by name calls me "Braylasana Resident" and not my "display name." It's practically useless (which is probably why it's free.)
  6. Dearest Lindens: Look. This is something the community wants - the ability to have a last name on "newer" characters. This is an opportunity that thus far as a company (who wants to make money, I presume) you all have squandered. You could develop last name reimplementation - and charge for it. Normally, I wouldn't suggest such a thing - but sometimes I feel as though developments that are not fixing world-braking bugs need profit potential in order to get done. you could charge like $500 linden or require permium membership in order to get or change a last name. Thoughts?

  8. That's why I said "sometimes". I know that some creators can make things better than others. The thing I am talking about here is the fact that the standard sizing is a workaround for a deficiency in design that works to varying degrees. I just want people to keep that in mind until a better solution is found for avatars. I totally agree with trying demos before purchase, no matter what type of clothing one is purchasing. I feel as though creators who don't supply demos have something to hide.
  9. Orca Flotta wrote: Honestly, when I first heard about mesh, I was yay, wow! Because I didn't think about mesh fashion at all. I just saw what cool things the talented creators could do in mesh, like houses, vehicles, all kinds of stuff. But clothes? Arrrgs, noooo!!! And up to this day I hardly see any mesh clothes that fit me correctly or have much appeal for me. Skirts? Give me the good old flexi prims any time. Bikinis, t-shirts, jeans? Paint them on me. It's all good and fine, no need for stiff, ill-fitting stuff that shows invisible alpha layers and won't even move nicely. That's my point - the reason mesh "fits wrong" is because the Lindens implemented mesh wrong. It's not the fault of creators that there are fitting problems with mesh. It's the crappy rigging of the avatar and the poor implementation of it. The alpha layers and the standard sizes are workarounds.
  10. I like: Full Screen Mode (I don't need to waste screen space with windows bars) Copy/Paste and Align Build Tools Settings on the Fly Low Crash Rate I use the hybrid mode with a few tweaks.
  11. Maybe I'm getting it wrong - perhaps it's the way I am reading things - but sometimes the problems with Mesh are improperly blamed on mesh creators. While there are different levels of skill in all creators, they are alo faced with unusual challenges due to the system. The standard sizing system for mesh clothing was designed to be a workaround for the poor rigging of the SL avatar and the under-developed mesh system. Remember that the Lindens, when they implemented mesh, had no "idea" we would want to use it for clothes. Incredible! Mesh for clothing was a low priority of the mesh project. Honestly, they need to hire people who USE second life. sheesh! So, continue to support your creators in second life by buying their goods. I do. It's far from a perfect system, but I have seen some nice things come out of it, DESPITE the poor implementation by the lindens. If you can't wear tops or bottoms due to your shape, support them by buying accessories and shoes. Furthermore, make some noise to the lindens about how unsatisfactory this is. I am sure creators AGREE with you more than you will ever know.

  13. I feel as though this whole anniversary promotion/celebration is sloppy and haphazard. There should have been a companion contest across the pond - I am sure there is a computer company who would have liked to receive markeing information offer a contest to european and asian residents.
  14. What the lindens should have done is outright hire virwox to do their exchanging for them, because they were doing a better job than the lindens anyway. I know - radical thinking - hire a financial company to do financial stuff.
