  1. Aside from the fact that you are reducing the graphic to an SIXTEENTH of a the original size (hopefully your original graphic was ACTUALLY 1024 x 1024 and not what you mentioned as that is important to) it may be the quality of your graphics program. ALSO you should be uploading as a PNG (usually) and not a JPG. If you upload as a jpg it starting out blurrier than needs to be. A bunch of us did some tests a few years ago and found out that the uploader (then anyway) did a better job downsizing textures than our various graphics software. This only works for larger textures though. I typically bake (for furniture) my textures at 2048 and let the uploader change them to 1024 (the maximum (in theory :D). I did a test with PaintshopPro 2023. Note that the web upload will compress MORE than what I did so they will be less clear than (possibly) what you upload to SL. So there is a bit of a reference for you. You COULD try sharpening your 256 photo before uploading but I am not sure that would help much.
  2. It looks like your second prim is HOLLOW. Any "torturing" of prims gets them counted as "new mesh" and not "old prims". That is simplistic A friend had the same issue yesterday; it was the hollow. So just leave them as prims.
  3. Avast exports anime files and I think "poser" might (haven't used it and forget who makes it). What I READ was that long ago anime file was the default format for SL and then bvh was added. The only reason (or a big one) that I bought Avastar was so that I could make animations again -- this time from Blender. There have been long conversations on this in the past so if you do some searching in the archives you may get more info.
  4. I was NEVER able to get that to work and all the info that I could find said that Priority 5 or 6 would only work with ANIME files. I used qavimator since it first came out and certainly since 2013 when I did a lot in Opensim. So the last ten years ...
  5. VERY old program and especially if you are on Win11 it just may not work any longer. You can run a utilities program like Glary and see if you can fix any issue. Updates break things for me regularly but usually Glary fixes it. And yes, creator has stopped working long ago. I liked it too as it was simple. Your current choice is Blender with Avastar == at least that is what most folks are using.
  6. Clothing that covers pretty much the whole body "may" work. Easier in the winter certainly. You will need an alpha layer to make your body itself disappear. I am pretty sure there are some alpha layers in the library along with the default clothing. While Senra is big step ahead, it is still an experiment and so far most creators haven't opted in. BUT you can likely still use older clothing like for Slink etc. Just try demos as well as gifts to see what you can find. Gabriel has a store with its older clothing for almost free == assuming it is still there to the left before you get to the main shopping area. I did a blog post on Senra when it first came out. Here is the one for the males but I was mostly looking at improving the look and not for clothing. https://chicatphilsplace.blogspot.com/2023/08/updating-your-ll-senra-avatar-for-free_0902081922.html
  7. I can't say that if I made clothes I would be "jumping" to create. But maybe eventually. There were some real problems with the first release -- unless of course you WANTED to look pregnant LOL. Appreciate the info.
  8. Haven't followed this thread as aside from testing and blogging I am not using SENRA, but --- Has LL put out the improved version yet? I have only seen an announcement for the kits for creators being sent out. Are there actually creators creating for SENRA bodies? I haven't seen any. Just try to keep up Thanks.
  9. That won't work. You need skins MADE to work together from the same skin store. I don't know anything about Legacy but assume it came with a body skin then try using that with the head skin (or tattoo depending ) . Or the other way around. If you decide to buy new skin be SURE AND DEMO them until you get a good match. Sometimes there are neck changes on the body (I don't have yours) that you need to try out to get a good smooth neck seam. Sometimes depending on the skin maker the skin will just NOT look right no matter what you do even if you are following all these things. In that case it is the skin maker's fault :D. You might also ask in the Legacy group and or the Lelutka group if there are certain skin brands that work well.
  10. So I made a little shed with snow to go with the house. Because most folks living out in the country have CLUTTER. Lots and lots of outside clutter. So now to fill it will clutter and I am sure I have plenty. For anyone that NEEDS a little snowy shed this will be my gift from Shop and Hop. It's starting to look pretty cozy over there. Yep, now we are getting realistic.
  11. When I tried to find some "free money" places for a newbie blog post the only thing I found was some trivia AND of those places that advertised none were active. That was a few months back but doubt it has changed much. I made all my "creative" money by camping way back then but that was when bots were brand new and there were still a lot of people camping.
  12. You know it is a pretty tree with nice presents but "I" couldn't get past the ornaments floating in air and not on any branches or within the greenery.
  13. Making progress. AND a comment not so much in favor of all the portraits in the thread recently. There are already THREE main (and more) "show me your avatar" threads. Would be good to have this about our INVIRONMENT as I believe it was meant to be -- at least I took it that way. Anyway, working on some outside décor. So far I haven't purchased anything and have found some forgotten things (and remembered things) in my inventory. Also retextured one of my old interior sets. I had done this before during our decorating at Snowglobe winter but they disappeared from my inventory so ONE MORE TIME.
  14. There is a multi-brand hunt going on over at Belle Epoque. I am pretty sure I didn't put my tag on when picking things up. A little bit of everything including the above. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Wild Willows/200/128/7 Look for small white frosted "birthday" cakes. Floor, ceiling, on vendor posters.
  15. I agree that most folks seem to shop at events or Marketplace these days but it is still good to have a little shop to link to the Marketplace. I go touring for shops every now and then even though I don't need one. This is a nice place with reasonable rent and the best I have found lately. Mainland. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Diablerets/103/231/95
  16. Simplistically put the "best practices" rules have not really changed over time. If you have a simple décor item you can use a cube (or a hex which is now in FS menu --many thanks as I used to use my home made one and more steps there). For building or anything else that needs to have CORRECT PHYSICS == learn how to make a physics model. I use cubes and analyze and Aquila likes planes. EITHER method will give you good physics when needed. Depending on how you make your mesh objects the uploader can and often does give you a reasonable and viable LOD mode; (IF YOU TEST IT). But the uploader has never done a good job with physics. You "can" oftentimes use the highest setting and the physics will work but this method is less than great and adds land impact to your build. I have been known when feeling lazy to occasionally use the uploader for physics in Opensim where no one really cares about land impact (and the physics does work) but I have NEVER used the uploader physics it in SL LOL. ALWAYS CHECK THE INFO IN THE UPLOAD PANEL before uploadng. Thanks again for Aquila's great explanations that will hopefully keep helping folks learn.
  17. S@BBIA free group. Also some nice calf boots. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Manduca/134/225/601
  18. If you have checked everything mentioned here AND tried an alternate viewer -- then the answer is "yes" they can just disappear. I had a build rezzed on my half sim plot last May so that the folks at SL20B could see my vintage build to be put on a large plot as part of the look back. The build was OKed but when I went to pick it up the main part of the build was gone and none of the build (all by ME) was in my inventory. So I wrote and explained the issue and opted out of course. The database is extremely fickle at least with my account with its inventory laid out in subfolders according to dev advice and is only 72K after 16 years and lots of building and backups. I will say that it is VERY RARE for things to disappear after being rezzed. It is however not a foolproof solution. This is of course anecdotal evidence and just my experience.
  19. OK I changed the EEP. Not sure why so many folks want to have it dark. Imma gonna pretend I am at the Ski Valley in Taos NM USA.
  20. Yes all done. Starting to decorate but quitting for the day. I have 700 land impact so I can clutter to my heart's content. This will likely mean adding snow to some outdoor things. Want to be consistent. Feel free to explore. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Seefeld/135/175/120 I haven't set the EEP yet (amazing I can do that with a rental) so you may have to fiddle in order to SEE things LOL. I typically keep MY EEP set at MY favorite setting :D. Sorry about the marker look. I use Dark Reader and sometimes this happens when pasting (extra code comes with).
  21. LOL Me. The house isn't new but I just made the snow add on for it. It will be included in the pack SOON (like today) but wait a bit cause if I get into Shop and Hop it will be on sale there LOL. I found some great snow land from the forums the other day so I get a winter snow place without having to look SO HARD and sometimes not finding. I had a Trompe Loeil house out first and I really like it but I am NOT a "big house" person and it was just overwhelming so this is more my style. I am going to decorate it hopefully in my great-grandmother's memory -- the right era. So fun. Thanks for the comment.
  22. It is the same issue still of course. THEN you need to rez on the ground outside and drag it in to start with. it is a pain, agreed.
