Lindal Kidd
Apparently, Japanese honeybees have a defense against the Asian giant hornet. They form a ball of bees around the larger predator and vibrate, raising the temperature inside up to 115 degrees. The hornet cooks to death in about an hour. European honeybees haven't learned this trick. 1 2

Unfortunately the hornet isn't cooked to safety until it reaches 165°F, and jamming a meat thermometer up its thorax is simply not worth the effort. 1
