  1. Agrees with you. Mesh looks unnatural to me. I have tried it, don't like it, and the creativity seems limited. I think the Jessica Rabbit hair...so static looks awful so will take flexi hair in my chest any day. Mesh accessories are cool if not rigged. Mesh is gonna have to go a lot further along before invest in it. I personally don't wish to look like others either.
  2. No, I am quite happy with my size. Rather than look at the numbers, how tall are you in comparison to your friends and others around? If too tall then, adjust via according to visual ques not the numbers. If you are a similar size, stop reading the numbers...numbers are just someone else's standard. Not sure why you equate "tall" with being unfeminine when that is so far from the truth in my book. *shrugs* to each their own.
  3. I had to read the whole set of posts before figuring out the item you were talking about was a mesh item and had to rethink my original answer. Could you have had more than 8 texture faces on your mesh object? If you did, is possible that by separating it into two parts corrected the problem. However, if you had a lot of extra geometry like you stated, sounds like the original item didn't upload correctly the first time to SL. I was also about to suggest you check your texture and resave it maybe as a differnt format. I have had some textures get corrupted between photoshop and SL for some reason. Resaving as a differnt file name or file type generally fixes the issue for me. Glad you got it figured out
  4. Just looked and found an iphone/ipad app called Artist-3D Moedling Tool is like 2.99/9.99 that exports as a .obj. Not tried it but might give it a whirl but need to check if my old ipad will run it first. Check the Apps Store.
  5. There are many many clothing tutorials on the web....google is a great search engine to find these turorials. Also, there are many videos on YouTube you can watch. Use keywords like SL Clothing....SL Clothing Creation...etc. Also, places like Builders Brewery and SOMA offer classes. I believe Builders Brewery has a beginner's GIMP series and am pretty sure SOMA offers classes in both GIMP and Photoshop. Here is a good starter of clothing resources http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Clothing_Tutorials
  6. Thanks for mentioning the type of griefing incident that occurred. It seems to be that time of year when griefing seems to be on the rise with new and creative ways to try to make life miserable. I know several RP sims were shut down late yesterday evening due to griefer attacks. The more we know the better prepared each of us are to try to avoid such issues in the future. Thanks to everyone for their helpful suggestions. If you you are new to SL or, a new property owner, the amount of information you need to learn just to survive in SL can be daunting. It is good we have Residents willing to share their experiences, have a place they can asks questions, and in general support one another as we all learn. Keep up the good work everyone!
  7. Yes, it is sad that Lola's do not have a demo. I am not sure why anyone would wish to spend 1,700L on fake breasts without trying them on first. Not all mesh boobs are created equal! It is also difficult to find this elusive place, and if I recall correctly, they were getting ready to move.. Actually, they lost a potential sale and creator for the appliers by not having a demo available.
  8. Why not explore many of the wonderful places in SL...doesn't have to be clubs? Take some classes at Builders Brewery, SOMA, NCI?. Better yet, teach some classes. Learn to role play (if you don't know how already) and visit many of the awsome role playing sims in SL. Or, create your own and invite others to come play. Volunteer to help with some of the charity events happening in-world like Relay for Life or Muscular Dystrophy? Like RL, you only make friends when you put yourself out there, in public view, to be available to be friends with.
  9. Happy Rezz day...or belated rezz day. LOL...this past one I forgot all about it and it was New Year's Eve....Rezz Day Number 7.
  10. Check Market Place. Also, I think Builders Brewery may have the MLPV...I know they teach classes on it.
  11. Umm....why don't you just spend some immersive time in SL and find out for yourself? You have any idea how many people want to "interview" us? Have us take surveys or participate in research? Come spend some time in world.
  12. I don't mind surveys being posted I simply would like those posting to do so in a professional manner. It is one thing to complete a survery for someone's doctoral dissertation or academic research and quite another to do a survey for a psych 101 class project. Depending on who is doing what type of reserach, I would like links in their posts to their academic institution's IRB, who their supervisor(s)/advisor(s) are for the research project and how they can be contacted, etc.. And, actually once the data has been gathered and reports completed, I would like for them to return and post links to the work for Residents to review.
  13. TEX, Thanks for the reply! It very well could be part of that issue (goes to read up on it) since many of us use Firestorm and not the official brand of viewer. If this is what is causing the issue, I HOPE they fix it soon, because it is causing issues for merchants and drama. I appreciate the response!
  14. Am curious now to see this in-world. Doesn't look like slathered on clay like most mesh I have seen or tried. And, it does remind me system clothes from just looking at the pictures.
  15. Long ago and far away...SL use to have issues with people not showing online in your friends list. No, they weren't hiding from you, it was a system glitch. This was eventually fixed. I can't tell you how much drama that problem caused for so many. Over the past several months, this issue has been reoccuring for me. People will IM me to leave a message...lo and behold I will answer and they tell me I show offline. Even scene shots sent to m.. No, I am not hiding from them, I just don't show up in their friend's list as being online. If I relog, sometimes I will show up...others not. Last night, I was showing offline to a friend. When they IMed me, I immediately popped up as being online. I have also had issues of being being on my friends list and they are no longer there. Last Friday, I was in RP and someone sent me a pic showing my AV was not there. A couple of days ago I sent a pic to a person showing they were floating in the air, but to them they weren't. About 1/2 those there saw what I did while others did not. Is anyone else having any of the same issues? I am running a Mac with Firestorm.
  16. Is the migration of MB working these days? I have avoided migration forever, albeit all my newer stuff has been sent via the Merchant Box options. Am I going to lose my ratings on older products? Slowly a bunch of these older items are being replaced, but takes time for mbe being slow.
  17. Yep, Macs are pricey, but are worth it generally. Originally, was a Mac Classic user years ago *grins*...then the PC revolution came to the work place and had to take a side trip down that road. Came back to my senses a few years ago when I started learning photoshop...love everything about MAC other than the price. Oh, and specs of course...LOL. Thank you for your input.
  18. Sorry, meant to say didn't see the graphics card on the LL specs list. Ummm...there are just some things in life you look at ...then turn your head and look at it another way...and still it makes no sense? Specs of any kind...computer or otherwise...just make me go spacy! LOL Thanks for the infor everyone!
  19. Okay, just so you know...this made me laugh in RL when I really needed one. Thank you!
  20. Yes, I read the explanation. Thank you for pointing it out again. It was most kind of you to do so. Even when an appropriate action is executed in most software, "norms" are programmed for excecutable actions. If something is outside those normals or maximum parameters ...say attaching 20-100 items for an outfit vs an entire inventory...an internal error may be reported to the system administrator...i.e. LL in this case...something the user may never see. Usually, exceeding the normal parameters have safeguards in place that shut down such actions notifiying the user. It sounds like there is no normal or maximum set-up for attachment/wear from inventory. Thus, I am suggesting the OP contact LL directly if the solutions upon offer do not work for them.
  21. I am glad you have things resolved. Sounds like the Designer/Creator bent over backwards to help resolve the issue for you. Hopefully, if you have issues with a Designer/Creator in the future, you will allow them time to resolve the issue. Not every issue can be resolved in 5 minutes, and somtimes, not even resolved in five hours or, a day. Most Creators work our butts off to make sure we have satisfied customers. The majority of us are NOT out to scam people for money. Many of us create for the love of creating and let's face it, most of us will be lucky if what we sell covers our costs of creating. Sometimes, what works for us may not work for some of our customers no matter what we do. Most of us do try our best to resolve issues, but sometimes it is difficult to pin down issue that needs resolving. It can become quite frustrating for all parties involved. I am sure your patience with the Designer/Creator went a long way in getting this resolved. Patience is definately a virtue in SL. Welcome to Second Life. I do you hope you enjoy our lovely world.
  22. If you are working on matching body parts, such as mesh/sculpted breasts, shoes, or feet, I think most people mess around with the sliders on the accompanying HUD till they get it as close as possible. However, with shading and such, the RGB is going to vary over the area in question. If it looks good to you, the go for it. But remember while it looks good to you, others may not see it the same as you do due to varying graphics capabilities of each resident. You could try contacting the creator to see if they would kindly give you the base skin RGB. If all else fails, you could try looking at the many RGB color charts out there as a starter. Here is one example. http://cloford.com/resources/colours/500col.htm
  23. Thank for the info! I didn't seen the graphics card on the list so was a bit worried. I am looking to buy this, it is on the apple site and was told it is something that was released in January for the 27 inch screen so am a bit nervous. Is quite a bit of money.
  24. I needs some help from those of you who are system savvy with SL Specs. Will SL run on the specs below? 3.4GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.9GHz8GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x4GB1TB Fusion DriveNVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2GB GDDR5
  25. Robin Woods have some tutorials on how to paint on the 3D model in Blender. I have watched Robin's over and over and still find them pretty confusing. I found the following to be much more helpful to me...but was written for CS 4 or 5 Extend. CS 6 Extended was upgraded but the tools are not that fab still...the principles still work with CS6
