  1. Was there a note card with both items? You might check to see if there is something in the instructions that might solve the issue. Often, makers will have websites, blogs, or other note cards embedded inside one packaged with their products offering instructions. Since I am not familiar with the maker or the product and/or what you are trying to do, you might try contacting the creator to see if s/he might be able to assist you. Does the maker have a customer support group? If so, you might try contacting the support group to see if they might be able to assist you.
  2. You may need to "add" parts instead of wear them. The part that hides your bod,y to fit mesh clothing or, other mesh items, are called alpha layers...depending on your AV size, you may or may not need to wear them. Here is a blog link I found by googling..."how to wear mesh clothing"....remember...google is one of our best friends when it comes to finding answers to many things SL http://snickitty.blogspot.com/2012/06/mesh-clothing-in-second-life.html http://mix-and-mesh.blogspot.com/p/how-to-fit-mesh-clothes.html
  3. I use both Mac and PC in my professional and personal life. Both have advantages and disadvantages. One of the biggest disadvantages is, not all programs are written for the Mac. So if you want to play that highly antcipated shoot em up, it may not be available to you. However, this can be overcome as someone else said by loading a copy of Windows and using "Bootcamp" or VMware Fusion Unlike PCs, it is a lot more difficult to replace broken parts yourself requiring you to use an authorized dealer. If you are in a small city like I am with only one Mac authorized repair service, and you don't like the people that own the place, you are pretty much SOL. The positive aspect is easy to uninstall programs, not as bad/frequent virus attacks as PC, is much more intuitive to use than PC with the exception of iTunes...I hate it with a passion and find it difficult to use..but that is me. Rarely has an issue installing new software like I do on PC. Personally, I started out with a Mac when the screen was only 6 inches big and loved it...then I had to change and learn PC for the rest of the working world. I only came back to Mac about 3 computers ago (I swap out every 2-3 years). Unless Apples does something totally stupid, I will continue to buy their products...otherwise, will by PC. Seems to be less of difference between the two OS from a user standpoint than was in the beginning.
  4. Did you contact the merchant you bought the item from? It is possible their packaging got mixed up when they created their packages. It is possible they mixed up their items in their vendor etc. I would contact the merchant via notecard and explain your issue....make sure you copy the information for the purchase from your Linden Account Transactions so you can provide that to the merchant as proof of purchase.
  5. Yay! I am glad you cannot fly over property ban lines now. This should help keep some of the griefers from making life miserable for all of us. It should also help keep the squatters down, who think we owe them and should pay for them to squat onour lands. Over the years, some of us have tried the non-banline approach then got slapped in the face repeatedly with griefers, stalkers, voyeurs, spies, and I lost count of the squatters. I remember coming home from work one day and tried to rezz a 1 prim pose stand and kept telling me the sim was full. I knew that couldn't be right so I did a land check. There was a squatter at 4000 meters with a 2500 prim/LI Castle and its' 3000 prim/LI furnishings taking up all the free prims I had. Being the nice person that I am, I politely IMed and asked him to remove his things since he was on private land....he was online...and I gave him an hour to pick up his items so they wouldn't be returned in a huge lump. Went to dinner...came back...stuff was still there. Imed him again and no answer so returned his stuff. LOL he was a bit upset when the bed him and his date had been using was returned. You would think he would have understood he was not welcome to squat on the property I paid for each month but....nnnnuuuuuu.....this happened repeatedly for a few weeks coming home to find the castle back up and no prims available. Even reporting it to LL did no good. Finally, I set my sim to not allow public access...and was able to feel more secure. When I did open it up once again, I kept coming home to find diffent people using one of my homes as if they owned it. There was even one guy that kept arguing with me he owned the property just to impress the woman with him, who he had told he owned the sim. And yeah, I do have a skybox up for my home smack in the middle of my sim that does have a home security ball. If my land IS OPEN and you are able to use my airsplace that I pay for you will be warned and you will be ejected if you get to close. No one seems to have any manners anymore and respect the property of others. I work hard for my money...I invest RL dollars in SL every month unlike many others, who do not...this IS my enteratinment every month....and no, I don't have to share my virtual land I pay for with everyone...those days are long long gone.
  6. Because I can and is nobody else's business what groups I belong or don't belong too. Pray you don't ever have a stalker Syo, they can be very unpleasant.
  7. Leaves me out since I am 40s something Very dry sense of humor. No, I don't do other women...not my thing. I am always the "real me" the entire honest and tactless to a fault me Nope, refuses to have my AV look like RL me. Get real sister. I come here to be anything I want. I can be RL me anytime offline. Dancing and Music is okay--depends on what type of music and where. I hope it is Goth. Culture--who's culture? Mine? Yours? Someone else's? Fashions...I HATE to shop RL & SL. I am an ST and do a lot of RP when I am in that mood for writing. CCS Combat sucks so that's out...points to the prior sentences emphasising RP noting it leaves RP pure an untouched by scripted weapon dependent meters. Is nice you set parameters on what you are seeking in a friendship. Guess, Iam just sorta old fashioned and believe in letting friendships happen and try to be accepting of the other person as time goes by...but, that is my idea of what developing frienship is. My advice is go hang out in some of the various RP sims and Clubs that appeal to you. Is like RL in that respect..hang out in a given place and eventually, you will make friends. Go where YOU will meet people who may have similar tastes and interests. Not alot has changed since you have been away but then again, it has changed dramatically. Good luck and welcome back!
  8. Interesting post. If it were me applying for the job, sounds like we would be talking hundreds or thousands of US dollars for me to put the kind of time it sounds like you would be demanding to answer your questions not to mention all the hard earned knowledge it has taken me years to gather. With the high demands you are making, sounds like a lot of patience would be required and for me I seroiusly doubt a friendship would take place. This is my free time as well...your ad sounds pretty one sided to me. Where is the fun in it for me? It has taken me YEARS to learn what I have learned through asking my own questions and experimenting. SL is not something you learn over night or even in a few months. If you don't wish to be a burden on your friends, if you are really interested in learning, have you tried reading up on the various wiki's? Have you even read any of the information on the building portion of the forums? Have you tried to google some of your questions? Have you watched any of Torley Lindens highly valuable video tutorials on youtube? Are many good blogs and resources out their if you just try GOOGLING your questions. Check out Builders Brewery's beginning building class which will teach you some of the basics of building. Seriously, you might want to rethink your phrasing in your post. Good luck, I hope you find someone to help you.
  9. I bet somehow in editing other things you may have offset the flesh texture accidently. If you are using a skin applier and this just happened, it is possible the applier's offset is wrong some how. I would do as Marianne suggested and unpack a new set and start again.
  10. I have noticed that some of the alpha layers for mesh will conflict with my alpha hair. Is not much you can do about it since the glitch is an issue in all types of computer graphic heavy venues. Different viewers may see the issues differently as well. What I do, if you are that picky, is experiment with various combinations of clothes and hair to see what NOT to pair together then create your outfits to wear later. Truthfully, I doubt many will even notice unless you are in their face and point it out. We generally have an unspoken social rule to ignore such things unless they are horribly blatant.
  11. I have to agree, what you have created is beautiful as is. And if it were me, I would not change a thing about her. I think you are being overly critical in your hunt for "perfection", since perfection is in the eye of the beholder. What I think is perfect, you would probably think it sucks. So, if you are on the endless hunt, you wil lnever find perfection 'cause you will have to constantly tweak the shape every time you change clothes, hair, skin, shoes, etc. I mean who wants to do do that? Honestly, no one really cares about how well your AV looks, but you. Most don't care how long it took you to make it perfect (it's what is behind the keyboard that actually counts IMHO). I fussed with my mine for 5 years and still do tweak on her from time to time. I think her "imperfections" actually make her look more "realistic" than some of the "perfect by the number" shapes you can buy. But is your AV do what you want. We creators are our own worst critics. Listen to those you have polled. I seriously doubt any forum responder would tell you they liked something and didn't. From my experience over the years, the forums are pretty brutal, so take the compliments and be proud of your creation.
  12. To be quite honest, I don't like any of the photos posted. It could be the shape of the AV, the hair, the setting of the pics, I don't know but they look half done and like someone else said a dark tan applied. There is an art to skin making in my opinion and not every one can make skins well. Most of the high end skin creators are priced close to one another. Red Gravse has a couple of nice ethnic skins in-world you could try, but if I recall correctly, they are going to be 1000L or so, which honestly, is not that expensive. I think there are some ethnic shapes available for separate or package purchase. Definitely less expensive than a mocha at Star Bucks, doesn't add pounds to your RL and you will probably have more enjoyment out of the skin overall than drinking a mocha. .
  13. Looking at the templates others have created and using them as guides for learning can be a real boon and quite helpful in learning how to create layered clothing if you are a beginner. We all learn differently from one another and at different speeds even if it is a "paint by numbers" approach in the beginning. If one method doesn't work for you, try another...adapt them to your needs. I have purchased and used clothing templates created by others to help me in learning how to make my own since I have no access to someone I can ask questions of in RL. Not only did they assist me in understanding how clothing fit, stretched where on the AV, making wrinkles and shading, the added bonus in my opinion was, I was able to experience different approaches different people use in creating their templates. Which in turn, I was able to puzzle out and learn the why of it ( I am a self-taught Photoshop user) and added it to my workflow...so, I actually learned a lot about using Photoshop and what it can do. By the time I was finished with the outfits, they were "mine" and a far cry from the original template I purchased. Now, if someone continually slaps on an overlay or just adds a pattern to a purchased template then no, I don't think they can truly call it their own. Templates should be used as learning and helper tools...and they do have a places in layered clothing creation for those just learning and starting out.
  14. Check the folder or box your corset came in and see if there is an "alpha" layer. You will need to wear it with the corset. This should solve the issues you are having and can go back to some nicer breast than 0. If there is not alpha layer included, I would contact the person you got the corset from and ask to send you a copy.
  15. I assume the other posters answered the question you had and things are cool. If not, let me offer a suggestion, re-add the sculpt map to your item. If that doesn't work, you may need to reupload the map to SL and reapply. I had this problem with a sculpt doorframe I used to build a few items. I can see it just fine but my customers only see a blob. What has happened, some way some how, the object had lost the UUID of the sculpt map and/or SL has as well. I was told, this can happen if the map is packed away in a box in inventory and through gyrations of the system lose the UUID. This problem was so annoying with this map I trashed the map and just replaced the item with mesh.
  16. You can create your own grasses using prims, sculpted or mesh plant bases. Many are available on Market Place or In-world. Be sure they are modifiable to add your own textures and have the ability to resize and adjust as needed. Linden plants are specific to the system and do operate well in my opinion. They are hard to work with, to edit for resizing, and will only rezz on the ground via the build options. Thus, I prefer to use mesh (I create my own) or sculpts.
  17. Unless you are going to be making sculpted objects, you do not have to use the primstar add-on. Go to the Add menu, at the top, and add a mesh object of your choice. I think Gaia has some mesh tutorials on the website. Jason Walsh has a nice beginning Blender course on Itunes University, but is not geared to SL specifically. Check out Builders Brewery for Blender classes.
  18. I think a nice pair of rugged work boots.
  19. Has been like this since before LL purchased Xstreet (now called Marketplace) from a 3rd party. I belive the 3rd party that created the webbased sales is the one that decided that reviews would be good...was not LL, but they have carried on the tradition. SL has always been a "Buyer Beware" situation and one has never had much recourse with merchants. LL does not interfere much with commerce between third parties unless there is suspected scamming going on then you can file an AR on the person. However, filing an AR on a person does not guarantee action and/or refunds of monies. There are many merchants, who do our best to provide the best possible products/services and genuine quality customer service. It is the same as customers. Some are really great and very patient if they detect a problem letting you know so you can correct it, while others are impatient and immediately assume a mistake is some attempt to cheat them. It can be a visicious terrible cycle sometimes and not sure there is a remedy. My personal solutionI follow when I shop, especially on large ticket items, is to view inworld then purchase on MP. While purchasing from MP does not guarantee anymore action nor your money back than buying in-world, you can review the item purchased to warn others. But, those reviews can be expunged if they are deemed inappropriate by LL.
  20. You should be able to do this with flexible prims and a nice tassle texture. But, please be aware when making the tassle, if you use a prim for each strand of the tassle will add to the prim count of your total item. Last time I used one, I think I used a scuplted tassel I purchated from SL Marketplace in order to keep the prim count down. I believe I have seen one on MP that is made of mesh as well. However, the sculpted and mesh ones will not sway or move. You might wish to play around with cut cyclinders and flexing them....add your own texture. Here is a couple of links that might be helpful if you are not familiar with working with flexible prims. http://www.atomcrafts.com/Tutorials/Prim_Clothes/include/05_Making_a_Flexi_Skirt_Panel.html http://www.mermaiddiaries.com/2007/07/day-286-creating-flexi-prims-tutorial.html
  21. Tried visiting last year and from what I could see, when it rezzed, it was very prettily landscaped and you could walk from sim to sim. However, it was so laggy at the faire even towards the end of the faire, I kept crashing...and I have a descent machine and internet. Was invited to go again this year but politely declined since Hunts, shopping, and lag do nothing to really excite me. Everyone should go to the faire at least once in their SL lifetime. Good luck, and I do hope you enjoy it.
  22. While I did know this...first time I tried to find the Libraryt I was pulling my hair out...I never used the Library function before but required it for some special need at the time....I think it is good to be posted. Thank you for posting it!
  23. I have been around for 7 years and periodically I feel the same as you do so, I take a break. I go do other things in other venues, but I always come back to SL. Why? Because there are people here that are the same as I am. I even still have a few friends from 7 years ago here, who have become part of my RL. Then again, I don't treat SL as a game but more as a large interactive social networking experience that is just a different aspect of my RL. When I am in a social mood and want to cultivate friends, I go out and to that; otherwise, I stay on home and build....create...learn. Personally, I change my land every few months if not sooner. I like there change in scenary and like to keep it fresh. I go through my moods of themes, like Asian, medieval, vampires, nobility, Victorian, urban grunge, Arabian Nights, Ancient Egypt and that is just the houses I have. Each time I change it, I learn something new. I think it a matter of mindset and looking at the reasons why you came to SL in the first place and spent so much time and now you don't. What has changed in your RL or, to you, which makes SL not as appealing? You like to build...why not build more? Sell your items? Learn to make your own textures in Gimp or Photoshop. Learn to create scripts...sounds...animations. Who cares if it has been done before, this is for you and your enjoyment. Start showing artwork again. Volunteer to help others learn how to "host" art shows or, how to DJ in venues. Why not get on the mesh bandwagon and learn to make mesh items? Go out and make new friends. Explore RP. Explore RP you would never dream of doing. Explore places you would never normally go. I know it was a vent. But, you have to motivate yourself to want to stay. You don't have to be here daily or weekly...you won't get a bad grade for absenteeism....LOL. I know from my experience many who leave for a one, two, three or more years generally at some point return...those of us that stay seem to be drawn the the place for some reason. I do hope you find your motivation. I do hate to see people leave this wonderful world of ours.
  24. Thanks for the replies, Everyone. I think maybe I just needed to vent. *sighs* You try to be honest and do the right, but in the end, it's like nobody cares. We end up enabling these people and their bad behavior by having to just walk on by like everything is just fine...it's just wrong. I know LL has a small staff and cannot police everything In-World and on Marketplace, but is sure frustrating.
  25. This morning I was looking for a mesh building component to use in something I am creating. During my browsing of the new mesh building components, I ran across very nice detailed statue and piece of furniture at a good price. I am not sure what made hesitate and start to question the items, but I did. I started searching around for 3D models and sure enough. I found the piece of furniture on a popular Free 3-D model hosting site. It appears according to the disclaimer on the web site "...This files are licensed under the Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 3.0 Unported License. In short: you are free to distribute and modify the file as long as you attribute it's author(s). " Per the Creative Commons site this particular type of license has the following requirements. Attribution — You must attribute the work in the manner specified by the author or licensor (but not in any way that suggests that they endorse you or your use of the work). Noncommercial — You may not use this work for commercial purposes. Share Alike — If you alter, transform, or build upon this work, you may distribute the resulting work only under the same or similar license to this one. The item I found did not attribute the work to the original creator that I can tell . It is being distributed and sold for commercial use as a full perms mesh items for creators to use. The item has not been transformed from what I can tell just imported into SL, along with the original texture, and being sold. I know that SL is and has been filled with lots and lots of mesh from other sources since the world started accepting mesh. Since this is not my item, I cannot file a DMCA and rather makes it not my business. However, as a merchant and creator, I feel I have an obligation to other creators...not to mention if I had used this item in my creation(s) wouldn't I be breaking DMCA as well? Should I flag the item for LL to review? Would it even do any good?
