  1. That was actually a very shrewd move. It must have disarmed your opponent and struck a psychological blow. So how did you do in the match? :smileyvery-happy:

The first thought that came to my mind though, is how in the world would someone expect a union to be able to enforce any conditions upon any club owner who did not want to participate? A union membership list would be nothing more than a convenient way to fill the ban list. Edit: spelling error

  4. Barbie Girl holds a special place in my heart, and not just because my name is Ken... I was working out of town in the Dallas area about 13-14 years ago, just soon after the song came out. I was driving to get some take-out, and just happened to have the radio on this station where a spunky female DJ was spinning platters. She played Barbie Girl as a request. She wanted to play it again, so she did. I guess playing the same song twice on radio is a faux pas, because when she came back on air after the second playing, she said she got a phone call from someone with a higher pay grade than her from the radio station, telling her she could not do that. She got all huffy, said that she could play whatever she wanted to, it was her show, locked the door and proceeded to play Barbie Girl over and over, for the next hour or so. As word got around, soon car radios were tuning in to the same station, cranked up and windows open. You could hear the song all over. It was quite funny. Yes, they finally got in, changed the song, and she was fired, but it was an interesting hour.
  5. Here is the list of trademarked names by LL. Unless "2nd" and "Second" are synonomous in trademark law, there is seemingly no infringment, although the intent is obvious. I suppose anything can be challenged.

  7. Kiss of Death -- make a gangster threat of retaliation in your profile for messing with your friends or family. Tower of avatars -- have someone land on your head because you did not move after a teleport. Master-Banner -- actually fill up the ban list for your sim/parcel. Pandora's Box -- rez a box of 500 freebie scripts that were packed all running. Physics 101 -- as a noobie builder, out of curiosity you check the physics box on a build, and gravity teaches you a lesson. Jumping for Joy -- You don't realize your cursor focus is not on the dialogue window, and during a conversation begin jumping up and down on every press of the jump key. This is a self-award, you know who you are... Been There, Done That -- You start getting indignant about some noob pulling a silly stunt, until you remember you did the exact same thing once. This is an old achievement, some of the ancients might have this one under their belt. Flaming Idiot -- Forget you have the noobie Fuego! attachment on until you burst into flames around some Spanish-speaking residents.
  8. I absolutely love this look. Wide open window, no distractions, customizable buttons. If I went back to an official viewer, this could be the draw. Does need movable toasts, top right does not work for me. Also, I am one of those who use the camera movement controls, and they are way to large. The most fun is creating a prim, and watching it stretch beyond the 10-meter limit! I wasn't on it long, did not try to TP anywhere, but it seemed fairly stable for me. Didn't crash it running through different pref options. Oh, and I like pie! Bring back pie! (menu)
  9. And now for the other end of the spectrum. I am so very special..

  11. Lol, well I don't think I asked for Lindens much, just was fascinated with building, scripting and texturing, so at first there was a constant barage of questions. Soon I learned enough not to bug her so much. :matte-motes-big-grin-wink:
  12. There is a Help link at the top of the Marketplace page, on the left hand side. It contains this, and many other "helpful" suggestions. "Unreceived items Has it been more than 24 hours since you ordered? If so, contact the merchant, explain what happened, and politely request redelivery of the item. If it has been less than 24 hours, please be patient and check again later. If the merchant doesn't respond, you can submit a support case requesting redelivery. Make sure to include the order number and the exact name of the undelivered item(s). Slow deliveries may currently be more noticeable because you now have a cart to which you can add multiple items. (This wasn't the case with the old Xstreet, which closed for purchases in October 2010.) Unfortunately, we can only send so many items at a time."
  13. On buying and selling Lindens, if the exchange rate seems to good to be true, it is.
  14. Seems it may be trying to mimick the bloodlines model, how successful is not apparent. There is a blog post by someone who has had some interaction here. Regardless, the solution is clear. Someone needs to create an STD Hud for the female population to wear. Then the unsupportive fathers-to-be have something of their own to remember the special moment by. :smileyvery-happy: Of course, they could go the "clinic" and purchase a treatment to cure their ill, or maybe even a vaccine to prevent the embarrasing infection!

As for the alleged expectation of privacy in SL... There never was any. I don't see how people can say there was no expectation of privacy... well, what are changing rooms there for then? Just to confuse us? And yes, LL should ethically disclose there is no privacy in changing rooms, in rented land, etc because of the camming abilities. There has to be some way to remedy this. What are bathrooms for in SL? We don't really urinate or defecate. What are kitchens for in SL? We don't really eat or cook anything. What are beds for in SL? Avatars don't really sleep... er, ya there is pixel bumping... You get the jest. Now on parcels where avatar nudity is against the rating, a changing room can be used to adhere to the ratings, but mostly they are just another RL prop that is used to present a virtual world that mimics our own. Their existance certainly does not imply that some sort of condition must be offered. Besides the fact, I doubt that LL themselves have ever implemented a changing room in SL. They are built by the residents themselves, so by your logic LL must provide someway for Avatars to urinate and defecate, simply because someone built a bathroom in SL.
  17. Astry Mirabeau, my RL grown daughter, was my first benefactor. It was my second time to log in. I ventured off Orientation Island and promptly got lost in a furry sim. I IM'd her for help. I am sure at the time she was horrified that her parents followed her into SL, but when she TP'd me to her location I am sure she was even more horrified at my appearance. LOL. Trying to remember, I think I had yellow hair, wearing a tie-dye shirt, some short pants of some type, and huge wings. It was so obvious I was an Orientation Island refugee. She proceeded to drop about L$6000 on my avatar within the next couple of hours. Skin, hair and AO. Still wearing the same skin and hair. A few days later, she and some good friends of hers, Paoeti and HD Pomeray, got together and rented us a plot on a private island beach for several months. I immediately went to building. All 3 of them were established merchants, and I must have bugged the crap out of them with questions. Learned a lot. Had great fun. Still here.
  18. An extremely good habit to get into is always have the build window open when rezzing new objects. When you do so, the object is already selected, easy to move, and you can see exactly what you are working with.
  19. Had the opposite happen to me. Someone selected 2 of the same item. One was delivered, the other was not. MP transactions showed one as failed, one as complete, but my SL Account transactions showed I got paid for both items! It was a copyable item, so there was no need for the double purchase, so I just sent a refund for extra payment, minus the MP commission of course... :smileymad:

Since they don't know they're in basic mode or that there even is a different one it just makes them wonder why there is NO inventory and why there are so few places to go to in SL (destinations guide). And then they're all confused all over again when they need to do so many things differently in advanced mode. As Blackadder once said, "There was a tiny flaw in the plan .... it was bollocks". Philip once referred to the new user experience in SL at Singularity University as such: "...if you have any questions about it, or are, you know, feel like you are crawling over broken glass trying to figure it out -- as one person said the other day, which I thought was just, just a great description of the Second Life new user experience..." It seems now they have sprinkled rock salt amont the glass...

I am pretty sure it was one of her posts where I first came across the play on words using "assburger" for "Asperger" syndrome. I type medical reports, and to this day I still laugh out loud when a physician dictates "Asperger" because it will now forever sound exactly like "assburger." :matte-motes-big-grin-squint:

These numbers are, in every case that I'm aware of, not a part of publicly-accessible records, and can't be verified in any case. (Exception, SSNs appear next to other personally identifying data in USA voter lists that are publicly accessible records). Well, the person the OP referred to has already sent such information, so that's a mute point as far as the original question. The poster I replyed to was giving the advice to send frivilous information to LL. I merely stated that sending such information would not achieve the desired result of the OP, which is to gain some type of access to SL they don't currently have.
