I'm serious Btw where I live I can show middle finger at any bank when they require my passport to scan. I can show it so they can see it but scan it - NO. And even though the laws some are still trying to take my passport for unknown purposes. Yes, it will tell LL that they are not really concerned about verifying their identity for adult verfication if that is what they are trying to do, or if there is suspicion of underage participation, then they are telling LL they don't care to stay in SL. It's a choice where the release of information has to be weighed against desire of access. I am sure if this person was standing in Linden Lab offices, they too could simply show them the passport and it would suffice. That luxury is nonexistant in this case, so this argument hold no merit.

[grammar troll mode] I believe you are looking for "not an easy row to hoe," which is in reference to horticulture. The row being a linear raised mound of dirt bordered on either side by a furrow, which is a linear area of removed dirt, and the hoe being the hand tool used to form the rows and furrows. On the other hand, I suppose in areas outside of Zindra, a streetwalker attempting to ply one's trade "cannot be an easy road to Ho," in light of certain TOS requirments and community standards, etc. Cultivation though, can be rewarding, in either instance. Still I'm trying to work through the puzzle of finding the part of the TOS that covers this. That FAQ doesn't appear in the TOS list of additional terms and policies. So I'm wondering along with Ravyn where in the TOS it says profiles should be G rated. It is actually deeply nested within the TOS. Starting with http://secondlife.com/corporate/tos.php : 8. CONDUCT BY USERS OF SECOND LIFE 8.1 You agree to abide by certain rules of conduct, including the Community Standards and other rules prohibiting illegal and other practices that Linden Lab deems harmful. You agree to read and comply with the Community Standards posted on the applicable areas of the Websites. Community Standards provides this: Adult Regions, Groups, and Listings Second Life is an adult community, but "Adult" content, activity and communication are not permitted on the Second Life "mainland." Such material is permitted on private regions, or on the Adult Continent, Zindra. In either case, any Adult content, activity, or communication, that falls under our Adult Maturity Definition must be on regions designated as "Adult," and will be filtered from non-verified accounts. Other regions may be designated as either "Moderate" or "General." For more information on how to designate land, events, groups, and classified listings, please carefully read the "Maturity Definitions." "Maturity Definitions." provides: For more information on what qualifies as adult content, see Adult Content FAQ. Adult Content FAQ. provides: What about profiles? Content in profiles must be General, and must obey the Terms of Service and Community Standards. And around we go, dizzy yet?
  4. au·thor·ize <script type="text/javascript"></script> tr.v. au·thor·ized, au·thor·iz·ing, au·thor·iz·es 1. To grant authority or power to. 2. To give permission for; sanction: the city agency that authorizes construction projects. Using "authorized" implies that Linden Lab gave the authority or power for these exchanges to operate. This is not true. Anyone can set up an exchange site without permission from LL, and LL never grants any type of authority for such a site.. The only difference these particular sites have is they are using, on a voluntary basis, the Risk API provided freely by LL that adds a layer of protection. But again, these sites operate under no authority from LL. I think it is important to understand this distinction. Yes it is semantics, and maybe I am the only one who sees it this way, so there, I made myself feel better. :matte-motes-big-grin-wink: Edit: Sorry, I cannot help but make science out of words, it is my profession.
  5. Chelsea Malibu wrote: There is a list of Authorized exchanges at : http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Linden_Dollar_Marketplace I understand what you mean to imply, but the word "authorized" in conjunction with third-party Linden exchanges always makes me cringe. LL makes quite a disclaimer about dealing with third-party exchanges, and while they are using the Risk API (making them relatively safe), they are not really authorized to exchange Lindens. Anyone can exchange them whether they use the Risk API or not. It is just that the Risk API adds a layer of protection. I know you understand this, I just wanted to clarify for those who might mistake your statement to mean they are "official" as far as LL is concerned.

(Evenings for Europeans that is, LL did it of course in their morning...) There were times when the grid did not come back up in the scheduled time. I cannot remember the exact time it was down, but one time it looked as if the "maintenance" was going to run into the weekend. Anyone remember the longest down time from Wednesday maintenance? It also seems that invariably, most Wednesdays, someone would come onto the forums bemoaning the fact that they had scheduled a wedding for Wednesday night, having spent tons of Lindens and weeks of preparation for the event, even though everyone knew maintenance day was Wednesday, the grid was never guaranteed to come back up, and usually did not within the predicted time frame.
  7. Guilty. Blue in both lives. Oh, and no I don't change them.

Speaking to your original point, I saw nothing anyone should be fired for. You can relax now. With all the work you do keeping everyone straight on Linden Labs personnel history/statistics you really don't need to worry about my opinion too and how I feel about anything. But thank you anyway darlin. You are such a gem! Hey, don't worry, I didn't even break a sweat. And as for your opinion, just like the proverbial orifice, everybody has one, and most of them stink. I certainly won't be losing any sleep over yours. You're welcome sweety. You are such a gem yourself!

  10. If SL comes up in conversation through association to the topic, and the other party seems the slightest bit interested, then I will explain it a little more in depth to them. The only RL individuals who ever became involved in SL through such interaction is family. Our oldest daughter was in SL, and through her my wife and I became involved. In turn, our youngest daughter and her husband became involved in SL through us. It would be interesting to know what sets those of us who fall in love with SL apart from those who "don't get it."
  11. AthenaNicole Giano wrote: Kenbro Utu wrote: That would never happen. Mr. Rosedale is the chair of Linden Lab and the founder of Second Life. The CEO works for him. Yes, I know that would never happen. You did not understand what I said at all and there is no way I can say it again more clearly. Maybe you will understand my meaning in the following statement: Mr. Rosedale should step down as CEO and never again be involved in the management of SL, or he should sell Linden Labs. Any Linden Lab employee that was involved in the making of this film, on camera or off camera should be fired! Well, he is not the CEO. The CEO is Rodvik Linden (Ron Humble). I understand completely what you said. You alluded to the fact that Mr. Rosedale was an employ of LL and subject to being fired. I simply pointed out who Mr. Rosedale was and that he could not be fired. Now I am correcting your misinformation that he is CEO. He is not. I never commented on whether or not someone should be fired from the standpoint of being involved in this movie, just that it would not happen to Mr. Rosedale. Just the facts, stick with em and we'll be alright.
  12. AthenaNicole Giano wrote: If I were the CEO of Linden Labs and he worked for me, Mr. Rosedale would have been fired first thing this morning along with any other employee that had anything to do with the making of this film. That would never happen. Mr. Rosedale is the chair of Linden Lab and the founder of Second Life. The CEO works for him.
  13. If you believe all this to be true, give us your address and we will all come hang out at your house dressed as furries, whether you want us there or not. "Land ownership" in SL gives a person just as much freedom in deciding who they want to allow in their "home."
  14. I believe a lot of effort has been put in by LL to "shaping" the forums into what they wanted them to be. Some people like the sterile feel of it. I am with you though, the old rough and rowdy GDF was more interesting. I guess it is changing times? I also liked the old "wild west" anything goes SL. Being shocked or surprised by what I might see next. Seems a lot of that has gone too. Different strokes for different folks I guess. I came from Usenet way back in the day. Talk about the wild west. Welcome to sweeter, gentler times.
  15. An alternative would be to script a sensor and have it send a small text message about the tip jar. *shrug* I know this will bug some people, but if it is small and not pushy, those who would want to tip won't mind it.
  16. Owwwwweeeee! Little Debbie, little Debbie! I'm a comin on home baby!

  18. All in one basket... though I have been warned against doing that.
  19. Okay, I was intrigued with the tea eggs. I have some in the fridge now. Pictures coming soon...
  20. Over easy, crispy bacon, fresh sliced tomato, all chopped to bite size and mixed in the plate, and a good splash or 2 of Tabasco sauce.
  21. Bizarre. I bet the acoustics were atrocious though.
  22. My wife and I both found out about and got into SL through our oldest grown daughter. She had been in SL a year already and was establishing a business in the clothing market. It was very intriguing. I am sure she freaked a little bit when we stayed, but has never admitted so. :smileyhappy: That was September 2006, been here ever since.
  23. I only wear one outfit. Though I do put on my jungle punk jacket for formal occasions.
