  1. haha I remember taking my first class in 2nd life, like almost 20 years ago! A building class, where I was totally shocked and amazed upon rezzing a cube and hearing that sound. I was a bit worried, as I thought I'd disturbed the entire class...lol. I'm encountering more successful classes today than you're imagining. Someone reported a class at Builder's Brewery where 40 people were present, and my landscaping class is getting to be too big to manage...I may need to break it down into two time slots. Not so many in my Moonlight Mantras class, usually 5 people but last week 10 or 11 -- I'd think there would be more interested in chanting Sikh mantras! j/k My Heart Menders class varies...sometimes 2 or 3 people attend, sometimes 10.
  2. That's horrible. How does somebody even do that if not given powers to eject/ban in a group?
  3. and hence why i mentioned about a certain "join fee" that'd be a one time thing :3 cus i dont want to waste my precious time into teaching someone something out with my heart only to know they up and left :3 That might be a good idea as a way to weed out those who aren't truly interested in your class, and reminds me of store groups that charge a fee, thereby weeding out those who are only joining to get the free stuff. I haven't done that with the groups I'm teaching but would consider it should too much griefing occur.

  5. I have the CNN website open, and apparently it's up to a category 2 now. My brother lives in the path of this.
  6. Where did you find a place to watch that? I can't find it anywhere...unless an actual 1st life movie theatre.
  7. Not really. It is dysfunctional making something appear different then it is. What if a forum is not truly representative of what is inworld though? I go back and forth on that, as to whether I think the two locations match. It's important to present SL in a favorable light, as this is the face of SL for some and so should paint SL as a place prospective residents might wish to encounter, despite many inworld residents not being aware of the forum's existence.
  8. No I mean this: "No Advertising: Advertising outside of designated areas is not allowed on the Second Life Forums. This includes, but is not limited to, advertising or promotion of specific Second Life merchants, Marketplace listings, products, services, Second Life regions, or in-world business. Do not reference other websites offering any product or service. " From here: https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Forum_Participation_Guidelines Ahh ok. Well to me it just means they are setting a boundary around advertising via limiting it to one little space on our signatures. Otherwise too many posts would be filled with mostly spam trying to bring people to their project or in order to sell their wares. They permit it within reason but want to control any excess.
  9. You mean constrain advertising for RL and political issues?
  10. What can I say...some people love to have enemies. Karen, I speak to you as a wise, experienced mentor/teacher -- eject those people from your class after the 1st infraction!
  11. It's chocolate, massage, and hot bath time......
  12. It's normal for forums to allow information for finding out more about a poster. Usually in the profile and/or signature. For most forums, that'd mean letting people link to things like websites and social media. For this forum, it means linking to things in Second Life. The nature of Second Life means some of those will be commercial or the line will be tricky to define (a lot of places sell something or have donation jars, even if they're not so obviously a shop). The most obvious reason for allowing it is because people often do want to know more about posters they like. But if you're bah humbug on people, you still get the benefit of not having to see endless conversations where people ask for that information. Putting it in profiles/signatures means it can be both easily ignored and easily found. I think you summed it up very well! I'd add one thought -- commerce is very important to the continued existence of SL, so of course they'd sponsor appropriate types of advertising in its service.
  13. Have you on ignore so I missed that one. No you don't. You've responded to quite a few of my posts lately. WhatEvah!
  14. I already said that, Rowan...no need to repeat.
  15. Truth be known...these forums are one of the best places to learn who I'd want to be friends with inworld...and who I'd avoid inworld like the plague.
  16. Don't forget to make it orange, and I would like some hair, super messy hair, on the trapped creature inside. Let me know when you have it out for sale
  17. Ok, what about like a "boot camp"? Would that be fair? Since you're not an educational institution but just one person who does not even appear to have a 1st life presence in this area then "boot camp" would not seem to fit. You could always post and see if it gets removed, or ping a moderator and ask.
