  1. thanks for the link to that item. I know the creator (Imnotgoing Sideways) and she is nothing short of amazing with this SL tech stuff. If Immy created something, you know it is gonna be good. The style itself of some of her creations may or may not be your taste but the quality is never an issue. So instead of worrying about if it would work or not, I am gonna invest in this "just in case". Now just think - if LL had made the feet look at least decent to begin with, all this hassle with shoes, prim feet, etc... never would have been an issue. Sure shoes would be another accessory but not a need to have special prim feet with alphas and invisiprims and all that other mess.
  2. Randall - same shape and skin as usual, just a different hair I sometimes have and some heavy makeup I found at Glamourize. I change her look quite often.
  3. Seems in SL, a lot of trailor hitches are missing the chrome. My avatar denies doing anything....
  4. It can be addicting, just don't let it get in the way of real life like some of us have in the past. I guess that is easy to say but hard to live. There is a learning curve but once you get the hang of the basics, all is well and you can learn more advanced things.
  5. Kind of rough coming back to SL after a time.I have tanek like 6 months off before. Somehow got sucked back in One thing you will find is that even if some of the LM's are still there, the crowd might be different. Just try to avoid the mindset of longing for the "good ol days".
  6. Like any online friend list though, it is easy to populate but very few will go anywhere. Most will be the two-week SL'ers, but some will be ones you can often count on seeing and hanging out with If you cast enough lines though, you are bound to catch something.
  7. I might get some jealous people over my newest look, but keep in mind I worked hard to achieve this most beautiful look. Once you get past your jealousy and realize it IS an avatar, I can explain the tedious process to p[iecing together such a stellar look.
  8. I am weird about this - whatever type of thing it would be in real life is what I like to have in SL. Bras, tanks, pantyhose, panties - undershirt/pants layer Blouses - shirt layer I don't know why but I hate using the jacket layer of anything unless I have to, like if it's a longer blouse. Doesn't make sense I guess. Maybe cause I don't care for jackets in real life. For buying outfits in general - I do not like too many options cause that is just more house-cleaning before I can even get started on resizing any prims in the outfit. I also like when it comes with the top and bottom. If it is just a top, that means I have to hunt for a matching bottom. Unless it's at the same store, then I don't mind mixing and matching but ultimately I like to be able to just pick a folder and know everything is in there. I can appreciate WHY makers put in so many options - to give the buyer choices. Though it is a hassle for some of us to rummage thru, I know it is for the better of the customer in general.
  9. Random sixpence said that some people will just wear the demo version of clothing. That might be true but if someone is happy with a demo version and it's horrid "DEMO" plastered on it, they are probably not willing to spend any L$ to make their avatars look that good in the first place. So I doubt that would decrease the revenues of the clothing makers. I often try demos when I can and if I like it then I will buy the actual version. With the resize script VS modify prims, I find the resize scripts to be easier to deal with. Only drawback there is one is using more scripts. I use a couple different shapes so it is not unusual for me to have to resize things in some outfits. Even things that fit another shape perfect (yeah I could copy and have a size for each shape but I don't like to have a high INV count.) If the prims are no-mod and do not have resize scripts then I don't buy it cause I already know it will not fit. This is seldom a problem though
  10. There is a lawsuit over breedables? Wow, I know SL has brought some lawsuits in RL over things like casinos but now breedables also? I guess those things just are not popular with many SL'ers.
  11. Naturelle, awesome pic - Polaroid style pic there. Was it in the garden of Eden?
  12. Yeah a while back I got mixed up with some idiot who was wanting me to get into that breedable animal scam. She never said that but I knew... especially cause she dissolved friendship and never another word from her. Some of the people in that business claim to make a lot of money, and that just tells me that there are a lot of idiots out there. I mean it is bad enough to spend money in a virtual world but to buy something that requires a constant flow of cash to keep "alive" is goofy. I am guilty of buying virtual junk myself in SL but I kind of like when I buy it ONE time and it is there to use indefinately. I don't know, I guess buying breedables that need fed is no worse than the money I spend on SL rent which is also pretty goofy So like, are the animals at least "transfer" so you can give them to a friend to take care of if you are gonna lose your land to either lack of funds or some tech issue? I mean *I* don't need to know but I am sure some would be interested in knowing.
  13. Some see their avy as an extension of their RL selves, some see it as it's own person. Mine is her own lady but slightly like myself. Cept looks, she is prettier. Her favorite look is the bad girl look. Kind of stuck in the 80's. Her favorite songs are "I like big butts" and Divinyls "I touch myself". Her favorite foods are Ben and Jerry's ice cream and bacon (not together though) Her fav restaurant is Red Lobster. She keeps asking when we are going there again. She has a good heart but acts like everything is this big joke. Still means well. Joker but not a hater. She is not well accepted in goody two-shoes or suburban places. Something about her mouth gets her in trouble a lot. Her favorite places are urban style. She is a city chick. Her crowd is the bad girl crowd. Erin and her best friend got banned together on the same day from a place we hated. A few of the members of that crappily-textured dump are still the butt of some of our jokes. Erin CAN build and texture quite well but cannot be bothered with it, she might break a nail. She loves her ample size. The haters do not phase that one bit. But she DOES have a softer side - Erin is forgiving of almost anything. Even a customer who STILL has not paid that L$5,000 he promised... (don't ask) She is deathly afraid of sleeping in the dark. Must have night light. She hates the gym. I tried to take her to one once and she flew away on her own, I could not find her for 3 days. The ear-full I got would have made the devil blush. If a real friend needs a few L$ to get by, Erin will give. She has a brother in SL that she doesn't chat with nearly as much as she should. She misses him. Maybe I have too much mind invested in MoiselleErin. But, seeing how we build our characters, it is more than just prims and textures. Avatars are people too. I love mine like a friend. Even if she is a ghetto chick who thinks she is hot sh^t. So how bout YOUR little avatar's story?
  14. A few more different looks for Erin. The one in the lower right is where I was about to get bit by my favorite vampire. To forbid her that fun would be griefing on MY part. Lower left, I was living in a bad part of town. Erin is a bad girl. Top right was at one of my nicer homes. I moved in, there went the neighborhood. She tries to keep the husbands entertained when the wives are at their kids' soccer practice. Would you welcome me if I decided to move to YOUR neighborhood? My crazy bad girl friends hanging out? Artie, Mia and Sammy.
  15. Market place is faster for sure. What I do is if I find something nice on the market and like it inworld, I will then go to their store in SL (should one exist) to see what other nice things they have. I will be honest - though lagging often, it is more fun to shop inworld. Shopping on the MP is kind of like looking thru the sunday paper at ads. No real inspiration to buy. You get to the store with the fancy displays, lights, and see the tangible selection, and the shopping is on! PLUS yeah, if they have an inworld store, it is less likely you will get ripped off cause someone has to put time, money, and creativity into a store. Anyone can just post junk on the market. Inworld and in real life - the nicer the store, typically the better and nicer their products. However, if you are talking big purchases like NICE shoes, hair, skin, clothes or whatever - definately go inworld unless you KNOW they are a reputable company. To me - the MP is kind of like throwing a couple bucks at something and hoping for the best but not expecting much. Plus the MP has some outdated products that were best left with V1.
  16. Also sometimes if they have low reviews, I notice delivery errors will cause those. "Never got product" is a common bad one. This, however, is a totally different thing than the product quality. I believe once someone posts something on the market, it is up to the website to ensure delivery. Course the creator might be able to help with re-delivery
  17. Getting stuff and thinking "I am so not gonna wear that". The problem then there is if it's from a friend, one feels guilty about tossing it.
  18. Newbies are fun to razz but they are not trash cans for us oldbies. thing is, most newbs play like ONE time and never return cause they cannot figure it out and they did not get rich right away. Why waste time with dumping crap on them unless it is a semi-n00b who you are friends with and SEEMS to have potential?
  19. You do not have to forego items with zero ratings. The trick is to be able to kind of study something you are buying and try to imagine what it will be like in the real, er, virtual world when bought. I guess that is hard if it is scripted objects. But like with clothes or something, you can usually just look and get an idea of how it will be on your avatar. I have not had a lot of problems with stuff I got off the market. There were times I bought and then soon decided it was not what I wanted but it had nothing to do with getting gipped. But yeah in interest of not knowing fully with market items, maybe see if they have an in-world store so you can maybe demo the item first. Or if you cannot, don't spend a lot on any one item. Like say you buy some L$100 whatever on the market and it is a flop, no big deal but don't take that chance with expensive things. Also, as a lot of vendors are trying to make money, they will often do whatever they can to make things right if you have a problem, all you have to do is try to contact them. The quality of the service may be better than the quality of the product and to me, that means a lot more.
  20. Don't forget that this is SL, your avatar does not have to look like the RL you. Let us face it - while most SL avatars are either beautiful or buff, do you think the operators are that sexy? I know mine is way prettier than RL me.
  21. They run about L$600 but I like Razzanova. They are not a big name in SL but the skins are nice and I usually prefer to support small businesses in SL rather than redgrave (I hate that place) or Belleza. Everybody runs around in Belleza, redgrave or curio but not too many Razzanova wearers out there. Plus if you are in the group, often times they have free skins they give out. Small shop in the sky so you don't get bogged with lag or 10,000 skins to wade thru. For me it makes for a better shopping experience. Here is Erin with one now. They look better with the sky settings set different, mine was just at mid day in this pic.
  22. Here is MY precious little avatar's look. She thinks it is the 80's with that hair, just like RL Erin
  23. MY poor little avatar and i know that in SL, no one gives a sh^t about the real-life people behind the screen, so this is what she is saying - 1. Describe yourself in two words? High maitenance 2. What surprised you last? When I found out that some guy with the name "Stinky Taco" got banned from this PG region that I am also banned from for being a butt. It insulted me more than anything, What LO has the audacity to ban Stinky Taco? No it isn't my alt either. 3. What is your current favorite song or album - one you are obsessing over? Avatar Erin has a few favorite songs - Baby got Back (aka "I like big butts") and also Divinyls song "I touch myself". 4. What is your mood or feeling today? (Or for you NT types, if you prefer: What is most occupying your thoughts?) Pretty chill, apathetic as usual 5. What do you most hope for this year? Hope is a strong word, implies emotion with desire. Heartfelt desires. Well, in light of the recent passing of certain Icons like Micheal Jackson, Houstin, and that other lady, Avatar Erin is hoping that Ke$ha is next. OH come on, you laughed
  24. I just bought what LOOKED like some really awesome red sandals in the photo. Paid L$249 and got them, thinking they would be great. To my horror, instead of an alpha layer that we have come to expect, it had an invisiprim. So a section of my leg was missing around the ankles. I know during V1, this was the best they could do but with V2 and beyond, we expect much better. I have bought freebie shoes that were better. So then, why do they keep some of the outdated crap on the market that needs to be ditched? I might just bite the bullet and buy some red shoes from N-core. Yes they are a fortune but with them, you expect a lot and you GET a lot, even if at a healthy price. Sucks to spend money and instantly have to trash your purchase. I would have felt better giving my money to some stranger.
  25. Yeah it is easy to get tied up in SL at first. With the ARs, the thing you might have to do is get away from whatever land or group you most associate with. Cliques are just bad news. For real life hobbies, well here is something - Maybe start fixing up things around the house, even if it turns out to be long term stuff and not just a weekend project. This works best if the house is older and in need of a facelift. Or maybe find some used furnitured on craigslist for cheap or free and rebuild it. Fix broken features, sand down, varnish or paint... Thing is, it doesn't even have to be expensive to do these things. If you have a lot of ambition and money to throw ariound, why not turn the basement into a nice living spsce. Look, if you enjoy building/texturing in SL, then it does translate to a nice RL hobby and is more rewarding than virtual world builds. Another thing - if there is a gym called "planet fitness" by you, maybe start reshaping your real life avatar. That place is like $10 a month and i think a $30 join fee but it is a nice place unless you are into bodybuilding gyms. If you go the "shape your RL avatar" route, start saving for new pants
