  1. The OP was not asking for any sort of discussion whatsoever - they laid out their manifesto and made it very clear that they did not wish to have any actual discussion, even going so far as to call out those who have held views contrary to their own (many of those viewed rooted in actual reality) and attempting to dissuade such users from posting in the thread. In short all that OP wanted was a bunch of "yes" people. The way it was shut down was a very gentle hand slap to the OP considering some of their antics and overall tone across many topics. Furthermore the thread in question was making a demand - not a request of any sort.
  2. What you are seeing is partially the weaponization of thread locking/deleting by some users combining with an apparent lack of properly dealing with them by the powers that be while removing the "problematic" posts (effectively removing any outward facing evidence of these shenanigans) ... It has got to stop.
  3. Oh hey, a thread wherein the OP presents dubious information as if they were hard facts and wishes to pretend they can prevent other users from having any sort of discussion (which of course means the presumption that they can prevent a user from countering said dubious information) ... You do not own the forum and from the very second you pressed "Submit Reply" you forfeited all control - deal with it. We get that you're on some misguided crusade - it isn't the first one either. Give them all a rest already.
  4. Ah yes, so because it does not let you control other's experiences, it is the "wrong software" ... Get a grip.
  5. There is no "discussion" to be had. Your control begins and ends with what you see and who you interact with. This is by design and in case you missed it, it has been stated already (by mole or Linden) that the forum software appears to not allow what you wish it allowed. Guess what? Across the digital street it works exactly the same way. The only difference between them is that over there you don't even see that a post was made (even if quoted) nor do you see any topics the Ignored user has made (both of which are frankly irritating).
  6. Luna, there is no "block" function on the Forum. It is labeled as Ignore and is such for the reasons outlined in this thread.
  7. Ah yes, because we don't agree none of us must have been around in the earlier days ... such wonderful "logic"! Newsflash - you're quite wrong there. On the Forum: Ignore (checking all boxes that apply) and move on. In World: Use the Mute/"Block" functions and move on ("Block" will visually alter/hide them and prevent IMs as well as hide their chat from your screen but will not remove you from their view - as is intended). Your control over their experience begins and ends with direct messages and interactions with you - you do not get to determine if they can see you/your public chat or not.
  8. I have a much better idea: Everyone that suggests doing away with Free Accounts as an option is "voluntold" by Linden Lab that they will now be footing the lion's share of the Lab's bills - all other paid account levels remain right where they are. What? You want to remove an income source from Linden Lab (Free Accounts do indeed account for a large percentage of transactions outside of the Premium fee) therefore you have to make up the difference. Personally. What's that? Not fair? Absurd? No more than the put forward proposition to do away with Free Accounts.
  9. There is no mistake on their end to correct. The function does what it says on the label - it Ignores. You want more, file a Feature Request.
  10. Your agreement is not required and is in fact irrelevant. They are not the same - beginning and end.
  11. The clue is in the name of the function - "Ignore". Not "Block". You are choosing to IGNORE a user by using the function. Even across the digital street (VVO) the Ignore function is one sided. Use it with all boxes checked and move on. This is in addition to every single explanation you've been given by others thus far.
  12. Looks like it may be time for the kids to be put into Time Out...
  13. Nor should it. The only part that is "blocked" here is the Private Message function.
  14. Welcome to life - things don't go as planned. No thread deletion required either - we have enough of that as is.
  15. Must be a regional thing because we've been on Spectrum for at least a year or two now (finally had to give up on any hope of AT&T actually coming back into the area and offering more than just DSL). So uh ... yeah.
  16. ... Whelp, there goes another interesting enough topic. Again. Lock them, leave them, move on ... Or shut it all down and be done with it.
  17. Aw heck! It's a cropped version of one of the shots I took for the avatar threads (both normal and Adult). I'll have to see if I can get one that is better quality sometime.
  18. I'll use voice around friends or in some situations wherein it is an easier means to communicate but often do keep it turned off. As for how I feel about my voice ... I don't think on it too much really unless I am feeling self-aware or insecure. Then I worry. I've mentioned elsewhere now that my birth gender's not really matching and while i can pull off a femme sounding tone most of the time ... It's not consistent.
  19. Five pages of a thread wherein someone earnestly wanted to discuss a topic and within those five pages we have seen some of the more typical responses from some of the users ... Here's a hint for some: Being gung ho here (or in world) is pointless as quite frankly you are not going to have the effect you think you're going to have. At all. Being blunt has its place and in this instance you are not being blunt whatsoever. Until someone rolls up an Alt or brings in a friend to harass you then the chain of sending in a report (if needed) followed by blocking/muting is more than sufficient. What a user does with your response (or lack there of if you ignore them/mute them from the first message) is on that user. You're not helping anyone by responding the way you've described. At all. As to the sort that wishes to see these things through the lens of being personally injured in violent RL situations that the average person simply is not going to encounter ... That's nice. No bearing whatsoever here. None. At all. Door's over on the opposite wall - use it. What's the precise peeve? Overly dramatic people (being polite on this one).
  20. Simply put there is not way at present to block this sort of thing - Do as has been suggested and block/mute/disable the payment notifications for when another user sends you L$ and move on, ignoring them until they go away (may take some time). L$ transactions aside ... You have "permanently blocked" them - unless you remove them from your block lists that is. At this point they'll have to go to the 'trouble' of fetching your UUID so they can use a scripted online status system among a few other tricks to keep track of that. Linden Lab may or may not take action on the Abuse Reports you have sent.
  21. Gopi, the 'ideals' and 'idea' of 'masculinity' that we grew up with (hi, '83 here) are quite frankly just as toxic as the ideas we see being pushed today by those 'pushing back' against 'the feminizing of men' (I shuddered at typing that). Frankly all of that BS did a lot of damage and ... Well look around, some are doubling down on it these days
  22. Next up: BeeFox. If you've been keeping up with indie Cartoons/Animation on the more adult oriented side, you'll recognize the design. This is my more 'aggressive' form - in more than one way at that. See me like this, expect a few things.
