  1. If the only response a user is getting is a reaction then the reaction IS the response. If a user feels the need to explain or respond to that response then so be it, it is up to them. There are cases where there is no need for anything beyond a reaction icon as a response and that is perfectly fine. One does not need to discuss each and every little thing here. Sometimes things are not worth wasting time over what would be - to the one simply reacting - a waste of time and and effort. Such is the case here. Meaningful responses were given at the start. Those responses were met with hostility right out of the gate. From that moment onward, that was factored into all further responses by many who responded. Instead of pretending that the OP is being bullied or some other such, how about those who would come rushing to their defense or to admonish those who have responded or used what is at their disposal actually take a step back and read the thread? Honestly read it. The OP was openly hostile almost out of the gate, to say nothing of the premise to begin with.
  2. If you cannot handle getting a reaction icon or button as a response then forums are not for you - at all. The text based responses given were of the exact tone and content fostered by the OP. It is beyond ridiculous to make the claim that no one in this forum ever helps and only ever offers ridicule.
  3. DMCA notices and Copyright issues. You know, those oh so pesky things Linden Lab has to legally take action concerning when they recieve them.
  4. That's nice. I've given you the reality. Many responding here have dealt with their own variants of stalkers through the years or have aided those who were actually being stalked. If you are genuine, use the information presented as such is the only resolution you are going to get - at all, ever. Linden Lab will not step in to act outside of genuine, provable offenses. Beginning and end. Considering your responses you are about as genuine as the average store bought Vanilla Extract (big, cheap bottle).
  5. The age of your account means nothing whatsoever - it could be an account that was made years ago and not used often. Either way, citing the account age as "proof" is meaningless. Block, Mute and Derender offending Avatars such as Vampires. send in Reports on those actually stalking you. With actual proof of doing so. A random Vampire System user showing up near you is not stalking - period. Sit down. Further responses at this point will get the response that is merited for what has been posted thus far. Find another form of entertainment.
  6. Either someone got bored and decided to roll up an Alt to try and stir up some entertainment or someone really needs to take about a thousand steps back and sit the Hades down. Either way, yawn.
  7. Hope: It ends up being just a secondary way to log in to do things when one is not at or able to get to their primary setup/PC. Fear: That they try to make it oh so much more than that and that they end up bringing in the crowd that would demand Second Life to run at three billion FPS on their Daddy Bought Me This Rig, 58K Money Pit PC the same exact way that prepackaged/rendered games (actual games) tend to cater to such crowds. No, we do not need such a crowd. Period.
  8. M'kay .... a broken function does not equal the code for said function having been removed until someone who works with said code states it has been removed. On a similar track: Users trying to come up with reasons why a particular thing is the way it is (let us say the whole back and forth over TPVs earlier concerning development) means nothing whatsoever beyond your own personal speculations. Do not treat these as reality.
  9. Take it up with Linden Lab. On that, you're several updates late to the party.
  10. Point blank: If one is going to go shopping for something, one should not make a choice in store no matter how pushy or suave the salesperson is. Get their recommendation, go home, look it up or ask a friend (if possible). Predatory salespeople exist. The above is one way to avoid being taken in by them. Those specs are not for any sort of gaming machine - whatsoever. They were sold a glorified Word Processor (at best).
  11. Had to correct my initial post ... The GTX 980 TI I've got is about 6GB of VRAM. Mind, I'm running SL (Firestorm) while having Discord, Telegram, Brave Browser, Easy Effects, JamesDSP and Audacious also open (on different workspaces mind). Brave often has several tabs open ... Point is though that I rarely have too many issues. Then again I also don't wander much nor play any in SL 'games' much either. Slowest it gets is when at one of my favorite clubs and people pop in/out. Thus far anyway. Mind this same rig also handles running SteamVR itself as well as SteamVR/VRChat, broadcasting over my in home network to a Quest 2 using ALVR. Yes, I've had lockups - bad enough to require a force shut down via main button (five second hold or so). But uh ... yeah.
  12. DoF gets toggled on and off as i deem fit. DD gets pumped up higher depending on situation. This is on a GTX 980 TI, 32 GB RAM, Ryzen 7 2700X. OS: Linux (Manjaro, Kernel 6.4 series, Liquorix variant). Runs well enough for my liking in most situations.
  13. FPS, TPS, MOBA, MOSA, and on and on ... Irrelevant, just like the attempts to compare against Second Life (and vice versa). The point: Second Life is not any of them. Second Life should not be altered to be like them. Second Life does not need to chase their demographic.
  14. Oh no worries, I know how it can be before caffeine. Age range in that instance isn't even the only demographic mismatch .... There's a lot of others there that just have no place here.
  15. Yeah, don't really care too much concerning Fortnite's specific designation. The point is that a user attempted to compare Apples to Neptunian Atmospheric Particles. A comparison that has no meaning whatsoever. None.
  16. You know, there's being blunt and then there's ... Well suffice it to say that some people really need to get the chip removed fro their shoulder when it comes to some things ....
  17. How hard can it be to check the section of the forum you're perusing? See that string up top? That tells you where you are. Now if you're going to threads directly from your Unread Content feed ... That's a slightly different story. Slightly different. There still ought to be some sort of context clue - be it the thread title, OP, general contents of a particular thread ....
  18. Why? Each category can be collapsed and stays that way between visits. If a section is of no interest to a user, they can collapse it as shown and not have to even worry about that section. In this way, sections that are unimportant to a particular user can be 'hidden'.
  19. Oh it most certainly is. There's a reason why it peeves me - at a minimum - when I see people posting to say that Second Life should take inspiration from there in any way ... No, just ... No.
  20. That is one takeaway, yes. One of my Mates does Avatar Retextures there and ... Well lets just say that as critical as Second Life users can be, the users there are a whole other level of picky (and sometimes entitled) ... To say nothing of how often Creators there will pick each other apart, some of the established ones turning their noses up at newcomers in far worse ways than here, with some ready and willing to believe or promote any rumors they can to discredit anyone they see as competitors. If you think it is bad here in Second Life on that front ... You have not seen anything yet.
  21. Indeed, it is tiring. A sort of "Side Peeve" on this too: Both have a thriving creator community (in fact at least one Furry Community creator.store moved over to VRC some time ago) but there are a few key differences there as well: For Second Life, you see more of a focus on things an end user can buy with the in world currency to utilize with some offering custom commissions, most of those being relatively 'cheap' to get. VRC? Public Avatars exist, yes and they are free to grab. if you want something custom made you'll need to either shell out a semi-good chunk of RL change to do so (sometimes having to also shell out money to get specific models/parts so you can show you 'own' them before a creator will do any work for you) or you have to learn and utilize some rather specific programs that also cost money to grab (don't get me started on the cost of an Adobe subscription just to use Substance painter) just so you can 'do it yourself'. Sure, Second Life has a learning curve for Content Creators but. .. you generally don't need to learn much at all if you want to make a quick customization, especially if it can be accomplished with just a handful of parts that do not cost an arm and a leg - at most.
  22. Ya know what, I'm going to touch on a major Peeve stemming from the thread that prompted one of my more recent posts: Comparisons between Second Life and VR Chat. This will be coming from the perspective of someone who does have a presence in both. On the very surface they're similar enough, yes. One of the biggest differences (outside of the enforced First Person perspective) is in the way each presents their 'world': Second Life has the potential to have entire regions linked to each other, allowing you to walk/run/fly/swim/bike/drive/sail/etc from one to another. VRC .... does not. Second Life has an actual inventory and allows you to change out avatar components of any type on the fly. VRC ... does not. Both allow custom content. Both prefer Adult activities to be done in private. Second Life keeps its youngest users (below the age of Consent) limited to one type/rating of region (assuming they're properly flagged/have their Birth Dates entered truthfully). VRC ... does not. Graphically, both have their strengths and weaknesses - I have a few snapshots I and my friends have taken within VRC that I can send via PM if one is interested (only select ones would be sent, the ones I personally liked most or that showcased cool things). The scripting languages used for each have their strengths and weaknesses as well. There are many things that one has as an advantage on over the other (flight is somewhat better in VRC than here but being that it is First Person only, you'd best be ready to pilot 'normally') but most of these will be subjective. I could go on but I won't as I include the above only as additional background for the actual Peeve itself: Comparisons between the two that pretend they're aimed at the same audiences, are in the same category/league as each other, that insist that Second Life should take a page out of their book (or any other program's book) ... Let Second Life be Second Life.
  23. *snorts* That is getting into a whole other kettle of fish that I'm just not going to touch on outside of state that it is my personal opinion that mobile access to Second Life should be treated as a task for TPV Devs at worst and should focus more on offering methods to message users, manage inventory and pay parcel rent. A 3D view is ... a bonus but not required.
