What puzzled me the most was as I moved through the different graphic settings, low, medium, high, ultra, toggling off and on the save high res in advanced menu, I was seeing no change in the saved file size. Nor visually any difference on my lap top. If you are saving as PNG or BMP, the only thing that will affect the filesize is the number of pixels. Jpeg is the only one that offers compression but it also comes with image degradation as a result.
  2. Ian, I know this will sound silly but I just adore what you have done with yourself. It is hard for a man to find his style in SL with so little choice in clothes but you are heartbreakingly gorgeous; never metro and just macho enough to make me want to curl up on your chest and purr like a kitten. Or maybe .... Get on the poseball. No, you take the PINK ball; today I am driving. Most often received: Hi Most hated: Sup Worst: ur sexy Most liked: May i kneel before You, Miss Rhonda?
  3. Could it be that the new shape is only slightly different that what you had on before? You will still need a skin (and hair) before you look like the guy in the picture.
  4. leliel Mirihi wrote: Those "shadows" you see under objects are just prims with a shadowy texture. To turn on shadows on viewer 2.4+ first go to Peferences -> Graphics and check "Hardware Skinning", then go to Preferences -> Advanced and check "Show Developer Menu", then in Develop -> Rendering check the following. FrameBuffer Objects Lighting & Shadows Shadows from Sun/Moon/Projectors SSAO and Shadow Smoothing Just to also note, this is still a work in progress. You will get crashes while playing with shadows. Also, the alphs are a bit messed up still. Kerstin's viewer has an alpha texture fix you can use but it tends to blur the screen. This is standard V2 with shadows and without. Same light setting. Sun and lighting are from the stock LL 3PM setting. (Click pic for full size version) You can see more strands of hair on my forehead with shadows on that you see with normal settings. These are hidden by the ever present OpenGL alpha glitch. However the rendered hair strands are blocky and pixalated.
  5. I'm in a funky mood today and not a happy funk ... a blue funk. So with that said ... Fashion is a tool. As long as I am the prettiest women in the room, that's all that matters. Fashion should flow with the feel of the day and not to pace it. Trying to guess what's going to be "in" this year is what leads to such monstrosities as shoulder pads, nehru jackets, leisure suits and capri pants. Fashion sense leads you to match a beaded, sleeveless denim jacket with a peasant blouse for an updated effect of a timeless look. Fashion trends leads you to buying an "I'm With Stupid" teeshirt to go with your parachute pants So today, the state of the world is a tanking economy (if your optimistic, it is only stagnant) and war. Ostentatious displays are not received well. Simple elegance is noted. Confidence is the one true and universal appeal no matter what time you live in, but how that confidence is portrayed will vary. If you can look like you can get it done for less than a dollar and enjoy the change, you will be a fashion setter. But if you try and dress with that in mind, you have failed before you start. Fashion is a bitch like that ...

  8. I know finding the right place is never as easy as you would think. If the place is too busy you get lost in the crowd. If it is too slow the conversations drag and no one stays. So here are my tips on finding people. Rule #1. When you find a place your like, join in and start acting like you belong there. After 3 or 4 days, you will. That is actually getting ahead of myself because we have not found someplace to call home yet, but it is important enough to go first. You need interact. Most places are welcoming of new people but if you just stand there, the old crew has no idea what you want, what you like or how to engage you other than saying hello. Join the conversations. Find common interests and say something, even if it is just "me too." Greet people that show up and just generally start acting like this is your hangout and stop acting like an outsider. Newbie friendly places are good places to go if you have a little patience and like to help others. People will come to you. Join groups, especially some of the more chatty groups. This is a big deal for me and some of the clubs. It is like every club wants you to join their group but if you start talking in group they slap your hand and say it is for announcements only. To me that is a sure sign that it is not a good place to meet people. Personal ads in Search. Did you know they were there? Look through them and find people looking for anything from friends, to parents to romantic interests and also places saying, "come hang out with us." Besides clubs and music venues, you can use search to find coffeehouses, pubs and nude beaches -- yes, I am totally serious; if you are comfortable with nudity you will find friendly and welcoming people at some of the group-only places.

  10. Rhett Elan wrote: Thanks for the great input so far. I know that there are merchands who will offer the transfer option. I agree with Angel, maybe we should all concentrate on those merchants who offer their items with " no copy" "allow transfer" option. Most of us have tons of items which we don't use anymore but would be greatly appriciated by others. It is all about helping others who are less fortunate to have a Happy SL life too. I go through a purge every few months in an effort to keep my inventory light. I give away what I can but I still delete clothes by the truck load. However, if given a choice I will still buy copy / no transfer goods. Besides, when I am in a giving mood, I just buy something as a gift from the market place and give them current fashion things. I may not always have something in inventory they might like. I know it is a pain in the tuckas for a merchant to package up one set of an outfit with the permissions reverting for no apparent reason and needing to double check every piece with an alt ... and having them do that twice for everything thing they make is a tall request. But it is so very nice to have the choice when they do.

  12. When you log in, right at the opening screen where you put your name and password. Change "Mode" from Basic to Advanced.
  13. I can give you my personal opinion and you can take it or leave it as you see fit. I am a large woman in RL and have had two children. When you start of with a large chest, the lactation from pregnancy and child birth will firm up you chest a little, but you wont see the dramatic change you see with smaller women. So, with a 70 breast size slider, you are already a healthy size. Getting much bigger will start to deform the mesh bad. I think 74 is about the limit. A realistic gravity would be about 51 to 58. 45 starts to deform the upper parts of the breasts but looks about right if you are wearing a merry-widow or a severe push-up appliance of some sort. This would be the upper limit for a realistic pregnancy shape because they start feeling heavy and tender and you want to hold them up and tight so they don't wiggle at all. There is a tiring feeling of just wanting someone to hold them up when you take off your bra and let them get a little air underneath. And finally, the cleavage. To me anything more than 12 makes them look like they are being smooshed by a couple of invisible books with another magic gap between them. I think they look malformed. 8 is better, 0 is good, 12 is tops. Get a cleavage enhancer from the skin designer if you want it to look like there is more. So ... in my opinion (again, take it or leave it) I would go with 72 bust, 48 gravity and 8 cleavage.
  14. Rather than write it all down again, a good synopsis of my changes is in the old "Strengthening the SL Community" thread. But to add something to that ... I love the changes in my shoes! I know that sounds cliche, but you can see the quality of shoes over time and that same shift in quality is reflected in all other parts as well. From simple prims that were huge to cover your feet, to slimed down, close fitting shoes with 12 or more invisiprims that cover your feet and nothing more, then open toed shoes, the Bling years (which should have been bling week but OMG some people still wear those things) followed by {cue angle choir} sculpty prim shoes. And the "Franken-feet" of the first few pioneers of prim feet to the sleek and sexy shoes of today. I eagerly wait to see what the next generation of shoes will look like once mesh and shadows are fully implemented. I'm sure all the guys just want to see big breasted hoes in skimpy clothes but it is women buying shoes that keeps the SL economy going With the progress in quality shoes comes progress in other things as well. What was good hair 4 years ago is generic freebie stuff today. Mocap walks have replaced the dislocated hip swing. It was not long ago the only good couples dances were from a few builders you could count on your hand. Now there are more builders of 1st class dances than there were total dances of just two years ago. Other than the set backs from LL policy changes and WTF decisions ... the quality of the technology and tools and the things we have created with them has only improved.
  15. LOL OK. I guess that's different. Have you tried getting help from the Phoenix web site?
  16. I have not even looked at meshes at all, yet. There is a forum set up just for meshes, tho. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Mesh/bd-p/Mesh Have you looked in there, yet? They may be able to let you know what is going on.
  17. If you can "good naturedly" accuse people of hypocrisy then I can "playfully" judge your personality. Did I lie? Was I correct in assuming we are not compatible? So what's your point?
  18. Anfield, I said it matters to me. Wildcat stated she spends a lot of time on her appearance. Val only asked the question. Open up these threads you mention and there we will be. Besides appearance, there is also the matter of people's personalities. I have no clue what you look like, for instance, but it is already clear that we would not be compatible. No amount of alcohol will ever fix that.
  19. In RL, I shower in the morning, brush my hair, wear a light foundation and eyeliner, wear clean clothes and various other things. I care about how I look. It may be PC to claim your looks do not matter, but for most people, they do. And I want to look like I care about myself. I want my partner to look like she gives a damn as well. If we truly did not care how we looked then we would all be in our newbie avatars we signed up with. How I look is important to me. I want to be taken seriously. I want people to know I make an effort in how I present myself and that effort is not for my own sake, but also out of common courtesy and human respect for those people I interact with. It matters to me how I look. I want to look like your opinion matters to me. I want to look like I care about how I present myself around you. I want to look like I respect you enough to make myself presentable.\ I actually care. I guess that makes me shallow. So be it.

I distinctly remember taking several of my Lady friends there before Xmas for some shopping sprees. Some very nice clothes there and at the sale prices some extremely nice deals. But still, me wonders how long a 'store closing sale' is supposed to last. Yeppers, they are still closing. Everything is 1L or 25L. I do not know why they are closing or why it has teken them so long, but it is a good place to take newbies for now.

  24. Rusalka Writer wrote: It's not exactly dreaded. Jewelry, especially with nanoprims and sculpties, places a large burden on the rendering engines of SL and adds to everyone's lag. Naw, not exactly. In fact nothing is rendered at all on the SL servers. A sculpt is just another texture and in the case of sculpt maps, they are smaller than the texture of a single strand of prim hair. In fact if you made an attachment with max prims and every one was a sculpty, the total of all those sculpt maps would fit on a single system shirt texture. Now your personal graphics card my struggle to render a sculpy, but then it would be under speced if it could not builid the object from a simple open graphics call ... but no one else will be affected by that at all since it, like all other rendering, is limited to your local PC. The shared resources of SL grid are not being used.
