  1. I think you have got a remarkably good handle on the 'forums', here lol and the answers you got are alas typical. Fear not, sooner or later there will be green dots around you to IM, even in LL home villages, and I suspect you will get a better response from people inworld. Chances are, there will be people around you where your home is thinking along similar lines. Explore SL as much as you can, and chat to as many as you can. The LL standard SL viewer actually has some useful and good features listing as it does interesting destinations.
  2. I'm gonna drum up a petition for the return of the daring profile pic :matte-motes-silly:
  3. I shall tread carefully, here.....having had a good spanking for my less than radiant opinions of LL by t'moderators. Thus, I shall say only this.......the gang running the show is LL. Not Ebbe....he is a somewhat enormous improvement over take-the-money-and- Rod, but even so...he doesn't atcually run the show.....just in case any of the forumites are busy making plans for vain glorious temples in Sansar. Which they'd visit one hour out of ten they spend on this forum ).
  4. Ummm, you're gonna find that out on a forum? SL is still amazing; possibly even more amazing than ever, but....there are simply not the people there anymore there used to be. SIms upon empty sims will greet you, with the occasional one with a handful of people in. A far cry from when I joined SL years ago.
  5. ....whaaaaaaat....wait a minute...ain't dat you under the sheer tank top thingy looking all means and moodys?? Wut happened to your 'am I?, aren't I?' profile pic that sent many a heart fluttering among the more genteel ladies of the forum clique - oops, I mean regulars? :matte-motes-agape: Chuh....I come back from that virtual world place after a while and everything's gone to pot, here.
  6. I am sitting down wondering how it is even possible to post a staggering 9535 posts in a forum for a virtual world. Yet, there it is. The main question that comes to mind is simply...why? It's perhaps akin to choosing to spend more time reading the glossy handbook about your car than actually driving it.
  7. Verbal diarrhea. Besides, which...you gonna be under the cosh for even questioning Linden godliness under the new TOS shenaigans.
  8. I wus gonna read all that and make a sensible, thoughtful reply...but, that would almost surely guarantee the time honoured gnarly Prok reply. Alas and alack, I have no answer. However, I am sure the Lindens are sweating under Ebbe's cracking whip to deliver the goods. I wrote that last bit with a straight face, btw.
  9. When you start thinking about age...you are indeed getting 'old'. The bad news is, this does not happen to everyone at the same age. Some are indeed 'old before their time'. Equally, as some card once remarked, there is nothing sadder than an old hipster. But, hey....why not drag down SL with it's potential miracles that we would dearly love to have available in RL, and make it more like RL is for many as they wither on the vine?
  10. You will notice immediately the lack of sympathy and apathetic acceptance of the fact that LL gave up long ago tackling griefers. There is not a great deal of profit in tackling griefing, you see, in fact it is costly; it can actually often involve Lindens having to - gasp - go inworld! LL could, quite easily, make available tools to assist the average resident when griefed. They don't have the desire, it seems. Which should really tell you everything. As for these forums they are haunted by the dispossesed: beings allergic almost to actually getting inworld. The catch all smart alec response to your post to 'ignore and move on', etc, etc you can safely bet they never did themselves when first in SL. Which is maybes why they hang around for hours and hours and hours and hours, and months and years in these forums. Why frolic in a multi colour, amazing virtual world when you all you want is a word processor connected to like minded others? The numbers of posts tells you pretty much all you need to know proportionate to the date of joining SL. I sometimes come here and switch my torch on, but not for long. I mean reading fonts on a screen was wondrous in 1980, but pales when compared to wandering the most boring sims in SL, awash with mesh and all manner of goodies, many for free. BTW, I wonder how Ebbe is doing? He handed a few pairs of ears out to some Lindens when he first arrived (which they looked at strangely as he pointed to the residents and then the ears) but dunno what's been going down of late. That said, glancing through these corridors of the undead I see - gasp - the 'Prok' has surfaced again! At least she hung in there till cleared, unlike the 'Pep' who couldn't wait and had to make many an alias to get his fix. :smileytongue:
  11. LL and some chosen residents who make certain - cough - skill games have a very interesting definition of gambling.
  12. ....but of course you do. I sometimes have dreams of grandeur, myself.
  13. Er...the same way the vast majority of residents do? Who, er, don't make money from SL....but register a card and buy stuff or land, regardless? That's how. Perfect sense.
  14. You got that last sentence bang on. Note how, despite - once again - high hopes for the new CEO, LL is slipping back into it's time-honoured ways.
  15. Really? .... and are you also saying in all that time, you have made a loss as a creator? I somehow doubt that.
  16. As she has one post to your 3,507, translating into time inworld and experience therein, it is unlikely she has a magical tool for SL attendance. However, as - unless you are online 24 hours per day - chances are she may already be spending more time inworld than you. Also, she is correct........sims these days are often bare..... putting it mildly. The sims I regularly frequent, I am often there with a handful of others, vis a vis 2-4 years ago where these same sims were bustling. There are, as someone else noted, too many sims for a shrinking number of residents. Greed has come around in a timely manner and bit LL on its ass.
  17. ....somewhat akin to your 'dangerous' profile pic, then? Which I see has cast off it's shortlived censorship and now bravely dares again.:matte-motes-silly:
  18. Yeah, I now...after alll they don't have 6,741 posts like you, huh? What the hell do they know with their good intentions? Amateurs, pfff. Then again, my monies on they already probably spent more damm time inworld in SL than you lol.
  19. Wows. I wonder what response that woulda gots if you had been a Gor master posting that? Hmmmm? I thinks we both knows. Hypocrisy enters stage right.
  20. Whoa!....your risque ' I can get away with it 'cos I is gay, and not a 'orrible Gor master' profile pic is back.:matte-motes-grin: That 'PC' version was jus' awfuls, so ...welcomes back he he.
  21. .....don't sweat it. Plenty great sims to explore and enjoy. If they don't have the manners to IM or notecard you, simply consider it a filter to avoid places with paranoid, intolerant people.
  22. First, I would stay clear of any such suspect sims. Why would you even want to be there? Let LL police it's world....or join the justice league, maybes. Be in no doubt, when it comes to any activity where LL could get in RL legal trouble, .....and have to pay fines......they do actually pull their thumbs out their ass and monitor and control such like. I suspect - although I have no accurate way of knowing - that such sims where adults controlling child avs engage in pixel sex with adults controlling adult avs are rather slim on the gound, putting it mildly. LL pretty much neutralized this behaviour years ago. I am not saying it don't happen, but I somehow doubt the grid is going to the devil. Too many busybodies like yourself for one thing, going around making sure everyone is obeying the TOS, and secondly it's not really worth it, risking ban, etc, for the parties concerned.
  23. Welcome to the wonderful world of the 'forumites', as I call them. This is their domain, not SL. Except, when I step in, of course, and shake them up...which is impossibly easy to do, but sadly v necessary. However, I cannot do that often as I have a life RL and SL. Virtually all of them spend considerably more time in the forums than inworld. Go figure. Note, how your problems were not viewed sympathetically. Note the names. You leave these forums far wiser ). Glad the culprit got caught.
  24. You need to consider RL legal action. LL do not like this, at all. Which should tell you everything. Their TOS is seldom challenged, but is by no means impervious to robust RL legal 'challenges', where necessary. It all depends on the amount in question you feel scammed out of, thanks to LL's poor customer service (which some regard as a legend in the industry).
