  1. This trite, politically correct nonsense is in no way reminiscent of the original Dr WHo, and what it was all about. However, the british public - the largest herd of sheep in the enitire world, possibly even bypassing the americans - ignore what really matters and do what they are told by the publicity machines of the media, and in this case the BBC state sponsored broadcaster par excellence. Les francaise have their intellectuals and phillosophers, we have Katie Price, David Beckham, Strictly Dancing, and X factor and Dr Who; where all male consorts of the doctors followers are not as strong, brave, clever as their female partners...unless they happen to be homosexual. Give me the real Star Trek, anyday, and Bill Shatner! :matte-motes-big-grin-wink:
  2. If you have been in SL for more than a year or two, you should know by now that LL - and the damp squib CEO - are not exactly renowned for caring about their customers!
  3. I think there are a few peoplewho really need to post on the forums a lot less, and get back into SL a lot more. This whole thing is getting ridiculous.
  4. The question, however, is this; who are you to determine who a troll is, and what a troll post is? We neglect Voltaire at our peril.
  5. Apparently. However, there are machines currently in SL where the skill factor is seemingly hovering close to zero, and ...cough...luck seems to play a significant part. Question is, then, how do these creators get away with it? What checks do LL do to determine the skill factor vis a vis pot luck?
  6. Yes, the past few years have, indeed, been heartbreaking for the average resident. Nice, cushy number if you are employed in the Lab, however. Which is the problem, in a nutshell. Many assumed Humble would soon shake the customer-phobic LL employees into embracing and understanding their customer base. What a laugh. Instead, it was Humble who - possibly with no little astonishment - realised that at LL, not only was the customer not King, they were not even tolling the fields as serfs....the customers were, if anything, worms in the soil and hence not even worthy of communication. The other main problem is the apathy of the customer base, which is not helped by the apologists and shills who - rather conveniently, and I shall leave this entirely up to your take on the matter - infest the forums. These other companies you mention, and which I confess I am not familiar with, most probably do not have accountants and lawyers raised to the level that LL seems to. Nothing short of a managerial/company revolution will drive LL to deliver the potential of SL. Can you see that happening? Seriously?
  7. Nice - if a rather, shill-frying...he he - post. I really don't think the management of LL would last more than a week anywhere else in the industry. It is my opinion, their reputation in the industry is similar to what they have among the long term residents here. However, they are fond of their jobs and wages, and listen to their accountants more than development or PR staff. Which is, of course, a recipe for disaster...sooner or later. Still, they are seemingly blindly riding this boat out until the end, crossing fingers it may continue as long as possible. Sadly, I still think there are a probably a few Lindens who genuinely feel for the SL concept and customer, but are very much in the minority at the moment. I still maintain, Humble probably cannot believe his luck. He is a CEO of a company that it appears eschews customer care and consideration that would rapidly sink any other virtual or RL company. It is still Rosedale's initial vision and framework that holds SL together, and what holds many a resident (myself, included) to tolerate the current situation....certainly not the management of the last 4+ years.
  8. What did I tell you? You were onto a losing ticket trying to criticize LL in these forums...as you have discovered. Check out the thousands of posts many of these forumites have; they are either online 24 hours a day, or spend more time on the forums than we do inworld. Your points were vaild, so don't sweat the responses you got. LL have a job many of us would die for. A pity, they do not appreciate it, or the very people who pay their wages at the end of the day. Get back into SL; it's still great. One day, we may even have Lindens who communicate fully and regularly. Until then, chin up.
  9. But was LL ever supposed to BE a corporate sell out? Hmmm? No cookies for you, sunshine.
  10. Yes, I agree that when Phil gave up on SL....(and puhlease......that is exactly what he did!)...the writing was on the wall. Humble is a disaster.......I reckon even he and his accountant are struggling to reckon why he has not been sacked! lol The whole LL management and mindset is what is wrong with SL at present.
  11. Hey, guess what? it is called being a 'customer'. That is c u s t o m e r....look it up. It just might help you some with the way the world, let alone SL, is run.
  12. Everything you say is absolutely spot on. However, the forums are infested with LL shills and apologists....as I am sure you have discovered. ) LL is in it for the money. Nothing else. No RL corporation would get away with their laughable TOS (which, I am quite sure would struggle to hold up in a RL court of law, and I am equally sure there have been some successful claims against LL which have been hushed up after a settlement). The CEO is a...well....words actually fail me, but he must be laughing all the way to the bank. LL are squeezing this stone till the last drops of blood spill out. Nothing less, nothing more. Once you realise, and accept this, it is a lot easier. LL is run by accountants, first and foremost, then lawyers....then the LL employees (sic) stroll in and have their friday afternoon parties and what have you not. They are an industry example of what you can get away with, leaving the customer...ie you....floundering way behind in the detritus. You, and residents, are a distant dot on the horizon to these people. SL is still amazing. LL are anything but.
  13. Yup, LL. Just listen to the gnashing of shill teeth.
  14. There are problems with SL, tonight. Though not according to the shills....lol. For the neutral among you, many cases of lost inventories, and cloudy avs, everywhere. Go, Rod!
  15. not necessarily....SL has been a mess, tonight; lost inventories galore, clouds aplenty...... Unless, of course, you are a shill and apologist. Then SL runs perfectly. All the time.
  16. Is that right? Court cases have been one with logos varying considerably wider of the mark From a distance, the logos are remarkably similar..... This, for your information, is how Fender guitars successfully stopped Tokai way back in the late '80's who were using a 'similar' logo, despite the fact the Tokai one spelt 'Tokai' and not 'Fender'. The judge ruled from a distance the Tokai logo could easily be taken for the Fender logo, as it used a similar font to give the impression it said Fender, which of course is what Tokai intended all along. Show a Teva logo and SL logo to a neutral third party and see what they say. Pointing out the differences did not help Tokai, and their differences were clealry readable.
  17. Really? Take a long hard look at the Teva logo..(brazilian beach footware)...in use loooong before SL. It is virtually (sic) identical. If anyone should be filing a lawsuit, it's Teva.
  18. Nonsense...on so many fronts LL have probably one of the worst customer relations that exist, be it RL or virtual world. That is a fact. No ifs or buts. No RL company could afford such customer contempt. LL are well aware of this. The CEO - unless he is in a constant daydream - is also well aware of this. How, then, you ask, do they get away with it?? Simply because, even after all these years, there is no viable competition. Imagine if Gibson back in the 1950's didn't have Fender or Gretsch as competitors. Musicians would still be playing old F hole guitars with no humbucking pickups. There would be no electric bass guitar (Fender invented it). There would be no Les Paul guitar (Gibson went tail between their legs to Les Paul ((who they dismissed a year or so earlier)) when the Fender Telecaster started to gain ground). Humble is not stupid, but he is very much culpable.
  19. Quite right. Notice, too, the time-honoured shills and apologists leaping upon your post. How dare you have the temerity to criticize the dynamic, customer-orientated force that is LL! As far as the shills lament that SL is improving tech-wise, and progress is going on in Rod's pockets and all that stuff, they omit to notice how the viewer is now a heavy pudding, sapping all but the very high end computers and graphics cards. The TPV's are also - surprise, surprise - sinking fast, as they are obliged to use the turgid code and comply with the CHUI shambles and now SSA - which will be a damp squib, par excellence. LL could tell this lot anything, and they would tug their collective forelocks and acquiesce. I often wonder just how bright SL could have shone, had it only been given the leadership and staff it deserved.
  20. In a word - crap. Worse than client side, even my av - let alone the others - was grey for considerably longer than was the norm prior to the 9th, and textures and objects rezzed slowly.
  21. Really? If that is the case...(and you seem remarkably well informed)....they is only one group to blame, isn't there? LL The SSA/SSB seems dreadful, from my experience logging in a little while ago. Much, much worse than when it was client side. Sadly, the same old story of LL fixing something that wasn't broke, and making a dog's ear of it in the process.
  22. To be fair to the Lindens, this has been going on for some time, now. I don't mean the griefing, but their ability to be inworld and sort stuff out vis a vis their client base ( I am loathe to call us customers, as LL clearly have no concept of such a strange phenomena he he). Only you can decide whether it is worth paying such a company a premium?
  23. Great post. I , too, am from europe and know exactly what you mean.
  24. First of all, please try and ensure in future you read all of my post. Not just the bit you take exception to. If you had read it fully, you would see I state - in english - I have 'no beef' with content creators per se who charge a fair price. I have spent a lot of money in SL, and quite probably more time inworld than a fair few of the forum cronies who rack up thousands of posts here and presmumably manage to get 48 hours out of a day unlike the rest of us, as they bleatingly maintain they also spend plenty time inworld. However, greed is here in SL, and contrary to what Michael Douglas said in 'Wall Street' it is anything but good. The RL western economic system is on the verge of collapse due entirely to 'bankster' greed and their 'supporters' in governments worldwide. As for calling people names. Highlighting the omnipresent shills and apologists for LL is - I am sorry to inform you - entirly my right. I have no problem with people who praise LL where praise is due, but the handful I draw attention to do the opposite. Frequently. You would like a forum full of them, would you? Well, good luck with that.
