Is it possible those are "ghosts" from a previous build or previous sim owner? I would put in a tech support ticket to LL and see if they know what they are and can get rid of them. Could also be a consquence of the debacle and fix LL created a week or so ago. Again, will take a Linden to fix it. Good luck with it. Would like to know what it actually turns out to be.

Your not looking very hard. Sinners Rapture sim is reasonably priced. I have a 4096 sq. m parcel for 1400L week and i get 934 prim allotment. Your estimation for prim used for display of furniture is way low. You will use probably twice that if not more. Unless of course you will only have out a few sets of furniture. Go for the 4096 sq, m parcel. You will not regret it.

why would make such a thing to begin with? what you did could be considered griefing if they wound up on someone elses land.

i can't even get to my dashboard... LL has some serious problems.... they need to fix eveything before they even think about introducing something new.... this is getting ridiculous...

Actually, it could be fixed but everyone would run like a newby. LL can kill or put to sleep any and all scripts on any object or avatar on any Linden Realms sim. If LL was smart, they would open a couple of sims for competitions where anything goes, with beginning and ending times or a special HUD with a countdown clock. When your time is up, you are automatically tp'd off the sim to a special "cash out" location like the portals. There you cash out and if you are the winner for the day (read the most crystals collected with the largest $ amount), you are that days winner and you get to keep your money plus an extra $5000L. All the other sims would be script killer/sleeper sims where everyone has the same abilities. That would end the "cheating". Oh, and there are rules. One of them is flying, but there is a ridiculesly easy way around that without using any special scripts or objects.

I have been having the same issue. You can still get to it though and set a different home page. 1) Google "Second Life Forums" 2) Select appropriate listing 3) Select sign in at the top. Sign in page will appear. 4) Sign in and you will appear back at Forums page. 5) Log out and you will be taken to another front page. 6) Set that page in favorites. Now sign back in and you will be taken to your dashboard. The page you set to favorites will now always come up and when you click log in, the "normal" log in page will come up. Once logged your dashboard will appear.

also not getting any e-mails for messages and IM that should be sent to my e-mail when i am not inworld .... is something broke or is it just me?

The problem with Rodvik is that he is not running the company. He is not making decisions and then ORDERING his employees to just do it. He is letting THEM tell him what THEY are willing to do. So LL is really without leadership. That is what LL sorely needs right now. A leader. A leader tells his followers what to do. Not go to them and ask if they will do it. Of course they are going to say it can't be done. They want to do as little work as possible. Fire the whole d**n bunch and hire some high school geeks. They will get it done. Then fire the rest of management and get some ppl in there with some common sense. No college degree required except for a few key positions. But don't put them in charge of anything but for a few specific functions. I have seen to many companies run into the ground by MBA's. Get rid of em.

As was mentioned before, perhaps you should get up off your lazy butt, make an avitar, and enter Second Life. By the way, it is not a game per se. It is a platform supplied by Linden Labs in which the residents make their own worlds. All subject to TOS of course. So get off the sidelines. You will not learn anything there that you can trust will be accurate and therefore usable in your dissertation. Who knows, you just might like it.

Not at all. Since the source is different, both can be streamed at the same time. Viewers based on V1 have seperate toolbar icons for on/off control. Phoenix and Firestorm both have it. Seems LL in all their stupidity dropped it unless i am missing something. If I am not mistaken, only V3 can view Video on a Prim.

Okay, I admit it, I hate LL viewer. Its clunky, slow, and in the top of any programs I have ever used that totally user unfriendly. No wonder LL has a hard time retaining residents. Unfortunately, I have to use it for certain things in SL. Now the question. Is there anyway to have seperate media controls, one for streaming music, and one for video, on your toolbars instead of having to go into preferences to disable one or the other? If not, that is the STUPIDEST thing I have seen. So need help here. And be my guest to trash LL's viewer while you answer my question.

I don't want it to post to my profile. I want it to post to my feed. Or is this another one of those cases where LL can't seem to use the same terminology all the way through a process so they try to make everyone look like idiots when its really them that are the idiots for not using simple, clear, and consice language?

I know how to post a comment to My Second Life through my profile. What I cannot figure out is how to include a picture. I tried everything and nothing. I use the current version of Phoenix. Still cannot figure out how to include a picture in the feed. Anybody know how to do that? Any help would be apprecriated.

Your wrong about them being ding dongs. Most of them (like 99%) are extremely tech savvy. Thats what they do in their RL jobs or are in school getting degrees in computer technology. The problem is they were not raised correctly and have never learned to respect other peoples property or efforts. I agree, something needs to be done but banning by IP address is not it. Neither is making everyone have to pay something to join SL. Most of those same people are spoiled by rich parents. So that is not the solution. . Personally, I think nobody should be able to join SL without first either giving a credit/debit card info for every account they create (thus giving an identification path) or giving their full name, drivers liscence numbr, address, and phone number, and a valid e-mail address. The phone number cannot be an unlisted number either. Thus again you have a traceable path. An e-mail is sent with account number and special one time phone pin number. They then have to call from the number listed on sign up and enter the special one time pin number. This has to be done for every account (alt) set up. Then if one of them starts to do anything in SL, the company can on its own proceed with legal proceedings or on request work with any victims in SL in taking the scum bags to court in civil proceedings. Since alot of those scumbags all know each other, if one is dragged through the mud in court and has a big award hanging over their heads (read as having all their computer equipment seized to settle a judgement), then they might think twice about it. Their parents may not be to happy either since its the parents that will be ultimitely held responsible for any awards handed down by the courts.

Not sure if this is the right place in forums. At one time it was easy to have a prim show web sites, videos, and such on a prim. It could be done right through the viewer. Is that still possible? I don't see anyway of doing it anymore. Any help would be appreciated.

It's not just LL complete and utter screw up on this matter but virtually everything they do. This is an example of a company needing a CEO that is not a techie, nor an Ivy League business graduate; but a long term resident of SL that understands how their client base uses the product and is a business leader at the same time. The present leadership is falling into the same traps as past leadership. Its actions are like those of a new successful company transitioning from a start up company to a more established company. They struggle to find the right leadership to take over the healm. I propose though that they will never find the right person in normal business circles because SL is such a unique product. And just going inworld now and then does not, will not, and will never give one the experience inworld to understand just how unique it is. A person doing that will not see the whole picture with all of its twists and turns, ups and downs. As far as the tech side, thats what techies are for. The are best at what they do when told this is what we want, now make it happen. Innovation is not in your typical techies dictionary for anything not technical. So how do we as residents get LL to make changes. It might be best actually to start writing their board of directors. Yes, they have a Board of Directors. If they begin to get a flood of hand written letters they will begin to take notice. Yes, you heard me right, hand written letters. Why? E-mail can be blocked and filtered to easily. The way companies handle normal mail is quite different and alot of them will get through. That will get their attention. And if its one thing a Director does not want is to be hearing ishow a company that THEY ARE ULTIMATELY RESPONSIBLE FOR is making major screw ups, that there is no such thing as listening to their customer base, that management is completely out of touch with the product they have and their customer base, and their PAYING customers are in danger of disappearing.
