  1. Talked with this person for just a minute. Without breaking any of the TOS and giving any particular information out about our discussion, below are the ONLY conclusions that can be drawn from it. Of course these are my opinions, but as a RL business person and former business owner also, they are probably dead on target. Conclusions do be drawn: 1) Newbie who has no idea what they are doing. 2) Business person who has a less than stellar reputation in SL. 3) A person intending to try to get services and not paying for them. The first conclusion can be rectified. The others cannot. Recommendation: Do not do any work for this person under any circumstances unless full payment is paid up front.
  2. Beautiful corner lot for sale on Rambling Paths. Perfect for that home and garden designer. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Image%20dAlliez/199/216/26 Contact namssab1nad piers for more information. 1350 prim use available for L1740. We do the landscaping and it changes with the seasons. Store must conform to sim design.
  3. Leave me a message inworld today and I will contact you tonight when I get on and we can talk then. namssab1nad piers
  4. i can do that for you. Need to see inworld exactly what your looking for. IM me inworld.
  5. I build mostly lighting and furniture. Furniture is not much of a problem but lighting is a different story. Virtually ALL of my lamps are a combination of mesh and prim. The prim is normally only those parts that have a glow, fullbright, or visible and invisible function (as in a light beam) function when the light fixture is turned on and off. I have built some buildings that are a combination of prim and mesh also. I found that for me I can give the lowest land impact with the combination since prims can now be converted over to convex hull or none physics. This is especially true for large prims for walls and floors. For modification of mesh, some of the problem is the baked in shadow maps of mesh. You may be able to modify the mesh "prim" but the baked in shadowmap stays the same. I have seen this on many mesh items, and not just houses. So it can severly limit what the end user can do with the mesh object. Mesh is great, but its not the be all, end all, of building in SL.
  6. There is one upside to this. Since LL now deems itself a reseller of products on MP, with all the problems of funds being transfered to creators (items purchased on MP and creator not getting paid and LL saying to talk to the purchaser and see if they will pay you directly), they now ARE COMPLETELY RESPONSIBLE FOR COLLECTION AND DISBURSEMENT of funds. I would say they just put themselves in the bullseye.
  7. If the investment is small, why not just buy the LIndens and do it yourself. Your expecting to make a profit. Keep it all instead of having to share or pay it all out to someone else.
  8. You didn't mention if it was for a photograph, just to see it, or to set your camera in a position for movement. For the first two, all you have to do is go in to Advanced in the drop down menu and check "Disable Camera Restraints". After that, move the camera sideways just a hair and you can zoom so far out you can see a whole sim if you want. When finished just push Esc key and camera will move back into its normal set position. For the third option, that can be set preferences. Not sure on exactly where. You may have to do some looking to find it though.
  9. You're very good at telling people what you need and what they need. What you do not say is what you offer. What do you "bring to the table"? Your communication and people handling skills are obvisouly non-existent. If this is your way of trying to hire professionals, good luck. Sim wide projects normally takes a team or it can take forever to build out a sim. Each person on the team with their own specialty. Some can do everything, but how well? Buildiing, scripting, animating, making custom textures; they all have their expertise. Even in the sub specialty building you have some that can build small things great, but build a large item (like a large builiding) and have it look right and have the lowest land impact possible takes a whole different building procedure. So I would suggest you be a little more open and polite when attempting to hire professionals to make YOUR dream come true.
  10. Varying sizes and prm allowances. Quaint little shopping center on an estate sim with nothing but Home & Garden designers. You don't have to be a Home and Garden designer to have your shop there. Very reasonable rates. If you have been looking for a place for your store to call home, this is the place. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Image%20dAlliez/176/192/22 You can drop me a notecard or IM for more information. namssab1nad piers
  11. Is anybody else having trouble logging in? I keep getting the message "Unable to connect to simulator" when I try to loggin. I have tried several times to different regions.
  12. Looking for an SL machinimatographer for a short presentation video. This video would be used in the real world. If it works well, this could turn into an ongoing business and we may then want to discuss a real world coporate partnership. You may contact me in world for more information or you may contact me by e-mail at namssab1nad.piers@live.com. I look
  13. As mentioned above, some of it may be the math involved. Not sure of the configuratin of prims you are linking, but some of it may be avoided by starting with you root prim set to whole numbers on the grid coordinates and using sizes of cut prims that are as close to whole numbers as possible or fractions of numbers with at least the last fractional digit being a 0. I have experienced the same thing and by starting on a whole number it solved the problem. I build by the numbers also but using the align tool works wonders. Try it and see if it doesn't help.
  14. Just logged in and found saw a difference in my balance. Thought someone bought a bunch of stuff in one of my stores. What I find instead is I got $1,250.00 from the system saying its for "Linden grant". What is that? I have never heard of a "Linden grant".
  15. Penny, You should get with Builders Brewery and give an ongoing class about this. Especially for the new beginners learning about texturing. Teach them from the get go how to properly texture and build items to get the best look with the lowest impact on peoples viewers. I know I would attend. Just in this thread I learned a few things I did not know or considered before. Excellent thread and discussion. Two thumbs up as they say.
  16. Alicia is correct. Any use of their name, other than saying 'inspired by' in your promotion is a copyright violation under US law. Use of their name as your avi's name is also a violation. Just stating you are not affiiated with them does not get you off the hook. The ONLY way you can use their name and/or materials and get away with it is if you create a satire comedy of their show or if its connected to politics in some way and you are making a counter politcal statement. That the courts will allow, but you had better be spot on with your show. Otherwise you run the risk of not only being shut down and maybe banned by LL, but also of being sued for REAL money by the real Sensation. That can get ugly real quick.
  17. Lets look at the 1 upside of this. I am sure LL has been tracking where most copybotters (and spammers and phishers) originate from. And it has been mentioned a few times in past posts that most seem to originate from Asian and Eurosian areas of the globe. This change just put a big dent in those peoples ability to cash out their ill gotten Lindens. Maybe enough to make them quit SL altogether. Those that can partner up with someone in countries that can use Lindex will be easy to trace. Just follow the money and it will lead you to their partners. So maybe it might hurt in the beginning, but the net end result may be a better SL altogether. And for those innocents who are hurt by this. I feel for you. But stay in touch in the forums. Once these culprits are tracked (and it will happen pretty quick I am sure) and arrested by their local authorities, a somewhat normal cash out process will return in some way.
  18. For some reason voice has quit working. I have done all the normal stuff like relog, reboot, reset, and checked to make sure for someone reason my firewall started blocking it (which its not). I use Phoenix normally, but it's not working even on the LL official latest viewer. Anybody got any ideas on how to fix it?
  19. I read the survey. I agree, it's not well thought out. What is sad is that this is an example of the less than average education the students are recieving today through the whole education processl. They cannot even comprehend what they are asking their education is so lacking. That's what you get when students are passed each year without being required learn critical thinging skills. No wonder our government and business's (especialy here in the USA) are run so poorly.
  20. If your looking for something different, you could take a look at my Redneck Riveria line. Heres a pic of it if your interested drop me a note inworld and I will drop a LM to where you can get it. There are also some other items with it you might be interested in.
  21. Did a Google search of your company. Sure, data came up about companies with similiarly spelt names but not as you spelled it. I question then whether your real or not. This has all the markings of a phishing scam.
  22. If you live in the USA, go to any Walmart and get their money card. It is a debit card, however, when you put in your information for the card, show it as a credit card. It will work. I use it and have no issues. I can even buy Lindens while inworld without ever going out to any web site.
  23. As with any survey, there will always be people who do not answer all the questions, thus you get percentages that do not add up to 100%. Nothing being hidden, just the way people are. The "no answer" group then has to be percieved to be about evenly split between the choices or ignored. Evenly splitting the "no answer" group can lead to false percentages though. So the best way is to leave those results out. Most people would presume then that not everybody answered that (or those) particular questions. In other words, let the results speak for themselves and let the numbers fall where they may. It is still an eye opener to see what most residents see as positive or negative.
  24. send me an im inworld or a notecard.... very interested... i will be on tonight after work...
