  1. Guess I am the oddball. 99% of my sales are inworld. Of course I do not have all my current product on MP either. But if you look at just the items I have inworld and on MP its still inworld by a long shot. I sell a make and sell mostly lighting. MP is hard to tell how a lamp actually looks when turned on versus off even with a photo of both side by side and even the actual scale of it even if place close or next an item that is about the same size no matter where you go in SL.
  2. No matter what the TOS says, LL is legally responsible for the operation of their own Marketplace. Many companies will put such things in their TOS knowing full well it would never stand up in a Court of Law. They are relying on the supposition that a person would not take them to court over such small amounts of real money. However, if all the merchants that have had such an issue as this got together and filled suit as a group, you can bet your sweety bippy (whatever that is) LL would do an about face. Chances are it would never get to court. LL would be more than willing to settle out of court. The hard part would be getting them to change their TOS and plainly state that they are responsible for the operatioin of Marketplace and any losses incurred by a store owner on Marketplace. The excuse that they cannot track everything is hogwash. There is an electronic footpriint and trail of every transaction, product delivered, and Lindens paid or not paid and to whom. You have to understand, the top management of LL are all computer people. They are not true businessmen in the sense that they know where their legal rights end and yours begin. Of course, you can also get the RL names and addresses of the Board of Directors and write each of them direct explaining the situation and that they or top management is not doing their fidicuary duty in making sure that the company is not setting itself up for a lawsuit. That usually gets their attention. Even though all companies carry insurance on their boards and top management to protect them in case of a lawsuit from a poor decision, it does not protect them if it can be shown that the decision was made knowing full well that the decision goes directly against the law of the land. In other words, they are on the hook themselves. It would also make it more difficult or more expensive to acquire such insurance in the future.
  3. Madam, I don't know what world you live in, but your best price is $4.50L per prim per week? Excuse me but that is outragiously high. For half that a person can get an excellent piece of land on a good sim, well designed, and lots of traffic.
  4. With Direct Delivery, the issue of "inactive" merchant is taking a whole different course. That is because now a person can open a store and not have to have a "Magic Box" rezzed in-world. This can actually create the ultimate inactive merchant. There would be no reason at all for them to ever go in-world. Even to cash out they would not have to. It also creates the perfect situation for copybotters. Solution? Require land ownership/renting to have a store on Marketplace. For those that are new to building, that can be a challenge. Solution would be sims marketed as Marketplace sims. A person would be able to buy/rent the smallest possible plot of land and have it qualify as land ownership (4Mx4M?). You can get alot of plots on a sim if the lots are that size. This would also help keep the copybotters down a little. These ones with the minimum amount of land possible would pay an extra 3% transaction fee over the present 5%. For those with inworld stores, they would pay the present rate of 5%. The 3% extra fee could quickly become cost prohibitive for those that begin to selling alot. It might be less expensive to actually open an in-world store rather incur the 3% extra fee. That is good for LL and private estates. For those that have premium accounts, and a marketplace store, but never come inworld? Fine, they have the land since that is the determining factor.
  5. The layout and functionality of the conversation, friends list, groups list, etc. has been screwed up since V2 was introduced. The layout of the V1 style viewer is much more functional and user friendly. LL would never think of REALLY listening to the residents. They might actually get some good feedback if they did.
  6. The reason most ppl in SL do not use the social feed is because they have no idea what it is. Most do not know about the forums, what the dashboard is, how to look up transactions, grid status, etc., etc., etc. Whose fault is that? LL should look in the mirror for that. They continue to use Twitter and Facebook to try to dissimenate information when most of the ppl in SL DO NOT want their SL and RL to mix which will and does happen on those two sites. Not because they want them to mix, but because the sites use technology that can weed out and link different "user names" when it is the same person using both names. Whats bad, LL has a perfectly good way of communicatng with residents built into their own system, aka forums and SL social media. All they need to do is actually make it easy for resident to find out, and learn how to access and use those tools. A new business group has started in SL that is working on addressing these issues (and more) with LL. Some of our members have the ear of LL. If you would be interesed in joing our group and attending one of our meetings, contact me inworld. thanks, namssab1nad Piers
  7. Be glad to help build it I am not a scriptor, but I know plenty. I am on the road at the moment, but will be back to where I can get inwrold Wednsday night. Hope to hear from you soon.
  8. Be glad to do it. I have a very nice business suit and plenty of tuxes including one with long tails.
  9. I sent you a message in-world asking if you had someone already. You were online but you never answered, and I was on for a few hours. So I will ask again, have you found someone?
  10. You have to have a graphics program like Photoshop or Gimp to do all that. The actual photos of the model are takin inworld and save to your hard drive. You then crop, join, and modify the picture for the effect your wanting. If you do not know how to do it yourself, best to hire someone in SL that knows what they are doing.
  11. Go for the 50's black and white theme. Add a little "B" sci-fi movie to it though. That was the time of so many great (and not so great) sci-fi "B" movies. And if you do any one movie, it has to be "The Blob". One of the all time classic 1950's sci-fi movies.
  12. This is one of the things that many business people miss. I am part of a business round table that recently started up inworld. This is one of our goals, to get more info such as the Quarterly Reports, reported by LL. If your interested in joining our group, we meet every Sunday from 6 to 8 PM SL time. I do not have the slurl handy right now, so send me an IM or notecard titled Business Round Table. I will send you the LM.
  13. Took your survey. Seems slanted to other types of MMO's other than Second Life. Which by the way I haven't played any other MMO's in a LONG time. Anyway, you have some "questions" that are not questions. You're told to answer a certain way. Forgt to post a question there?
  14. First off, your going to be lucky if you find any land that charges you less than $2L per prim per week for any size lot that you can put your skybox on. As for your other requirements. 1 - Flexibility? Flexible as to what? Pay your tier when you feel like it? NOT. Pay on time or your gone. Thats the way most estates handle their property today. 2 - You want it cheap but with good customer service? NOT. That does not happen in RL and sure as H*LL does not happen in SL either. 3 - Space enough for your skybox? If you got space just enough for your skybox, doubt you would have enough prims to even rez it. Your building is an odd size. The smallest size plot you can get is a 40mx36m. Good luck finding an estate manager willing to cut a piece of land that size. But good luck in finding it.
  15. its pretty much on call to help tenants with any problems ... do not have to do any marketing... 99% of houses are in sky boxes completely furnished... and no... furniture cannot be taken out so they can do their own thing.... everything is on a temp rezzer.. and i personally do not need a house or land... i have a business in SL .... thats where i spend 90% of my time online...
  16. Been offered a job as an estate manager for 2 (soon to be 3) sims. Most everything is automated for tenants. Just have to deal with tenants if something is not working or they have a question. Sim owner asked me how much did I want to get paid. I have no idea what an estate manager gets paid in SL. Anybody got suggestions?
  17. Okay.... have seen or experienced this in a long time. You know how SL will contort you avi where it looks like you are trying to kiss your own *ss? Well, today I started to experience this. Have seen other avi's doing the same thing. Somebody told me one time what it was, and how to fix it, but do not remember how. Anybody got any suggestions?
  18. Why not get your own land? Lot next to my store (Lumiere) is available. Last I checked, its $556L a week for 556 prim. I have a shop I have built that has vendor boards and all in it. All you have to do is drop your product in it, set it for sale, and put your texture on it. Will be glad to set it up and GIVE it to you (hate having an empty lot next to me) at no cost if you take the land. This is a group of completely commercial sims.
  19. I would be glad to interviewed. However, one reason I stay in SL has to be seen and appreciated inworld rather than from just an interview. And for that to happen, you will have to be quick about it. The sim is going away at the end of the month. Hopefully it will be rebuilt one day.
  20. Full sim for sale - Via Dolorosa - contact me for information. namssab1nad piers
  21. I agree. About time the power sellers take LL to task. And they cannot hide behind their TOS. Basically, if anything has a value (which Lindend dollars do), and they have a problem with THEIR system not paying you your Lindens, then they are responsible. Its not fraud. That would denote a plan to actually "steal" lindens from people. In this case its more loss of private property through negligence. Just as bad either way you look at it. And if LL thinks their TOS will protect them, well they will have another thing coming since courts have already said that "virtual" goods if they can be purchased with real money, then they have a value in real life. What solidifies this even more is that LL runs the exchange for ppl to sell their lindens for real money. Either way, they can be sued.
  22. Be glad to help. I also know how to keep your prim count down. I will be in tonight later on. And if you want to see an example of my work... no problem.
  23. Sounds great, but in this economy, how many ppl are going to spend money on a cruise? Plus you have to have your visa, passport, lots of money, and be able to sign your first born male child over to the government if you want to get back in to USA since you will be going into international waters and other countries borders. You might be better served going someplace else that stays right here INSIDE the the USA borders and not so expensive as a cruise.
  24. What? You don't want the big red clown nose too? And I just found a source for it.
  25. If you have any scripts in any of the prims and try to change the physics type to convex hull, it can actually make your land impact go up. The same can be said with certain types of prims changed over to convex hull. This is especially true with the torous prim. From your description, this sounds most plausible. Way around this is to unlink the responsible prim. This may take a little bit of time to figure out, but can be worth it if you are tight on prim (land impact) allowance.
