I used to do Lunches with the ladies at work and until this man from another department decides to join us... Couldn't stand him at all. A gentleman shouldn't nag and wail like a first trimester hormonal mother.. during lunch.. complaining about his work... at lunch! Now, I'm just a lady who posts in the forums, at lunch..
  2. Dilbert Dilweg wrote: Dont ever listen to any music again My issue of not listening to SL streaming musics has never been because of RZ or them storing my data. Heck, I've been a regular bit torent leecher as far as I can remember where I could see everyone's IPs in it. My issue has more to do with my discerning taste of music. There is only so much I can take with rock music and I don't particularly like a screaming man with a loud noise as a backup or any house music. Since they closed the Motown themed club that I used to tp in and listen, I have not been frequenting any other clubs except maybe Junkyard Blues (in different alts). So, I made it a point that I will always have my media and sound off when I TP'd into a club; find out who the DJ was at that time, if I knew that DJ and wasn't particularly a fan, I will keep my world quiet. If I have listened to the DJ before and liked the tunes, I will turn the volume up. Some sims has both media and streaming sound running at the same time so I don't normally turn on my media except in a live event (like Music Island) where the performers sometimes will perform live by video.

For some time, I knew that some were missing, it just did not hit me until now as to why.:smileytongue: It has been like this since the day of its inception. Any potentially negative forums are not viewable to non registered readers and visitors of Second Life. Although, community managers had never confirmed nor deny our assumptions, like most had said in Community Feedback, that this is a good compromise from LL for allowing us to have a replacement of the old GD.
  5. Try this one as a demo. The full version cost L500 and I've tried the demo version from my language to English and English to German. I find translating from English to another language is a little slow compared to foreign language to English. I also believe that you will need to be able to spell correctly. You would probably need to use viewers that allows you to check your spellings before you press the enter button.
  6. I've always liked Muddy's Cafe and had met some good people over the past year since it was re-opened. The place is RedZone free (I checked.. :smileywink: ) and Crazyhorse Nirvana and Kenneth Celestialis were one of the best DJs I've heard so far. I must admit I haven't been frequenting clubs nowadays and I'm not sure if those two DJs are still active. I did for the past two weeks had been going in and out of Ambrosia for a short time period (they have good shopping venues) and at one point decided to turn on my media and sound. I can't remember the performing DJ's full name, I think his name started with 'Blk .. He had some pretty good set of tunes. Been trying to catch him since but no luck so far.

  8. I do have a linden home but it is mainly rezzing in. I bought a piece of 512m for the first time and created my first content in SL. Well that is if you minus all those cubes and trial and error items. I have always been a fan of Ansel Adams works and I have TP'd to several parcels that has the black & white concept which then had inspired me to create my own place.
  9. I believe local chat is in Channel 0. The best thing is to ask a friend if he/she can 'listen' or see your AO texts from the local chat. If yes, does your AO allows content modification? According to Zhao II's script note, it automatically assigns your channel based on your available channels as the owner of the AO. In my case, my AO listen channel was assigned to -1, which means the AO's texts will not be read by anyone but me. But, I need to check my other alt if that is true.
  10. 3rd UWA Machinima Challenge. Status: On going Price: L530 000!!!
  11. It's a fine choice..:womanhappy: Concerto No. 4 in G Major is my personal favourite.
  12. I moved around a lot.. home is never a home for me and although I long for a nicely built and customized desktop with huge touch sensitive screen that allows me to draw on it, it is just not feasible for my current lifestyle. So I am a laptop user. I have 2 laptops for now and one of them is HP Pavilion which is pretty excellent for photographic works and sound system. I think that's what HP Pavilion is for, still graphic art and media player. I bought an MSI Centrino2 with nVidia GTS 160M last year and I found the performance is so much better for SL than my HP Pavilion. The graphic card does play an important role in enhancing my virtual world experiences. I could run on Ultra early in the morning when my network connection is at its best and at most time I set it to High unless I walked into a laggy sim. It doesn't get heated as fast as my HP, texture loading is a few second faster and I could run at least 5 instances of mulitple viewers (Imprudence, Spoton3D, etc) before my laptop starts grunting of protest. Don't dismiss the option of using laptops. In most places I've been, well at least the users in the country where I am in at the moment, they are replacing desktops for high end gaming laptops. It seems like the newer trend savvy generation prefers not to be confined into a chair in the corner of their rooms. There are huge users out there that sees the need for mobile friendly access to online games and this is not limited to Second Life. Having said all this, desktop is still the best option for hardcore Second Lifers.. but with my need to be able to sit outside early in the morning with cool air and warm sun while checking my work mails and saying Hi to my friends in Second Life beats the desktop anytime.
  13. Obsessed? Nah.. I think whoever that guy is, his analytical skill is excellent and and his articles are well researched. MikeW wrote: The more ladders you have, the more unique your superusers will feel about their contribution (and reward). But more ladders required more management. A multi-branch ranking structure should be the last step in the design of your ranking structure. Having many poorly designed ranking ladders is much worse than having one that is well designed. My advice is to start with one ladder for your creators. When you are able to manage steps 1 to 4 with all the yearly adjustment, add one for your critics, then collectors, and finally joiners. Note those texts in green and lets take our ranking system as an example. Sub rankings are meticulous and unnecessarily put a lot more work in otherwise a fairly simple task. I am for one are into acknowledging someone or group based on his/her/their deeds. Credits must be given to people who deserved it. I just don't see the necessity of creating more divisions in a group rank if there isn't a clear idea or rewards of being in a sub rank. If what we want to achieve is a sense of community, there should be a bit more uniformity and less complexity.
  14. Marcus Hancroft wrote: Exactly correct, Miss Suella! It's the lack of creativity that gets me too. You're probably right that there would likely be a Suella12345 Smith out there. /me chuckles The thing is as a new resident, the first thing you logged in to SL was not to change your username into a nice display name. I would be too excited or anxious on how to move from one place to the next. Orientation Island is a good way for them to learn but not enough for them to release their inner creativity.. well at least, not yet. This is where Help Island or Info Hubs comes in. I remember when I was a newbie, I got teleported to this Info Hub and immediately approached by a 'volunteer' who was quick to dismiss V2 and told me to use Emerald instead. Back then, V2 was just first released. I think this issue can be solved if volunteers take it into their account to promote the use of display names. But it would be much more effective if Second Life registration page includes a tiny note that says they can always use Display Name to change their username once they're logged in to Second Life.
  15. Display Names should have taken care of that issue but not many new residents are aware of the functionality just yet. However, there are websites where you can still register using First and Last names.
  16. I've also noticed that if you started a topic you would easily reach the Honored status even if you are a 'newbie'. My guess is that ranking a resident has become a computerized auto system after they went live with Lithium with the ability to change the threshold limit at any time depending on the patterns of the forum contributors. We are after all still at the beginninng and to define a clear set rules for ranking would probably (and usually) happens after the fact. What takes hand before Lithium went live, I'm assuming, was handled .. errmmm... 'organically'. :smileyvery-happy:
  17. Thank You ! Thank You ! Thank You ! Thank You! Thank You! ...... May I suggest that when you have something brilliant like this to share with us that you post this in a forum where we could give you a Kudo? You deserve it.. seriously.

If you have an interesting story of you and your friends doing crazy things for a friend, please share it. Great video Suspiria and a nice thread. I didn't watch it earlier because I was at work. Just logged on this evening and decided to have a look... bought a smile to my face. You and Quinn make excellent back-up dancers! Thanks Tem :smileywink: Maybe you can round up some men so Lillie can do a cover of this...:smileyvery-happy: Oh, I'm sure he could round up some hunky katana boys down at the school he is in. I can think of a few of the guys on my list too... that is if I can persuade them to wake up at ungodly hours to become the 'Candy boys'.
  19. In-world shoppings for freebies are fun..!! If you are below 18, your best choice for the best stuff in SL would be Marketplace. In-world you would probably be just restricted to General areas and in my opinion the best freebies are in the Mature areas.
  20. Nice one Suspiria. You know I just thought about creating a thread with a title like yours. What would good friends do when bored?... Well, Tem and I had been hopping in and out of places with different costumes or avatars. This is us in Baroque costumes... those guys at Ambrosia thought Tem was President G. Washington... poor him, he wanted to be King Louie. and then last 2 nights we have been going in and out of clubs and restaurants sniffing for food and possibly down rating those places for rodent infestations. But sometimes bad things happened to good rode.. I mean people. And the fun was over so soon.It happened when we were about to cross the road at NCI Kuula. *in this picture* .. Me squeaking: Haalan! Haalaaan! Haaaaaaalllllaaaaaaan!

  22. CMOQ wrote: I'm starting to wonder if the reason none of these answers are making any sense is because this forum is or isn't what you guys are referring to as "inworld." I assume that by "inworld," you are talking about "in Second LIfe." So now my question is: "Is This Forum "Inworld?" Because if it isn't, that means that every time I go to ask a question, then I am sudddenly no longer "inworld?" This forum is not THE "inworld" I was referring to earlier on. This is however a forum about everything and anything pertaining to Second Life. To experience or join the group(s) you desire, you must log in to Second Life. What we have here, and what I meant by here means this forum is more of activities outside Second Life where we discuss Second Life issues, thoughts and Ideas or question & answer help (among other things). If you read this from Facebook for the first time and was expecting a user community group like Buddhist groups or Bookclubs, then you won't find it here. ETA: I'm adding a little bit more, just so we don't miss a thing. Second Life is a Virtual World... you can picture the World of Warcraft except we do it differently here. It is mostly a world were residents are the creators and we do all sorts of activities in which ever avatar characters we would like to be. There are many community groups in Second Life which hold events like 'discussion group sessions', 'party', 'games' and so on... but these are solely done while logged in to Second Life's virtual world. In a way, you are outside of Second Life ('in-world')when you post a question but you don't have to do that everytime. There are groups or places in-world that provides help to anyone especially newbies. This forum is just another venue of Second Life that does the same thing except we do not need to log in to Second Life's virtual world.
