  2. I found men's hair that are slightly longer with bangs on the forehead and the sides, will look good on a female avatar... think, Ryu from Street Fighter anime for example, without the obvious Elvis Presley's sideburns. Some may require you to use a hair base so it wouldn't look as if you are sprouting celeries from your head. As for resizing, there would be as much as work to do on a male's head compared to a female's head. To me it has more to do with the shape of our avatar when we create/purchase it. Like everyone has said, as long as it allows you to mod it, you'll be fine.
  3. Wouldn't that be great? :smileyhappy: I've seen many AOs that are based on timers. I'm not sure if there are AOs that comes in a preset package where it is designed to stop after a loop is completed kinda like one of the Love Scene animations I'd seen. I would imagine you can't add any new animations to it since the script/notecard is sequential specifically for those preloaded animations in the AO. That's why I only have one standard Stand animation for my avatar with timer set to 0. If I get bored with the one I have I just click on the next Stand available and stick with it. Maybe what you can do is to get a decent but longer Stand animation and find out what the animation's time length time is and get another Stand animation with the same length of time. When you have all the animations you want, just load them up in your AO notecard (and remove other Stand animations) and set the timer according to the length of your animations. I've never tried this but I'm thinking of workarounds we can do without hacking the scripts.
  4. Hi Tolomay, I use this for free AO Male, https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Tutys-AO-Lover-Male-Animation-Overrider-free/646001 Female, https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Tutys-Elite-Sexy-female-AO-free/646000 ETA: I just noticed you didn't want the cross legged AO stand. So here are some female AO that stands withour crossed legs. They are below L100. Since these are not free.. I would suggest you to check if these vendors has an inworld shop so you can check the animation before you buy them. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/SLX-VISTA-GIRL2-ANIMATION-OVERIDER-V2009/298457 https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/HOTSHOT-ANIMATIONS-Rebel-Girl-AO/517194 https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Simple-Girl-AO-by-EmA/1078019
  5. hehehe... Lets 'give up' a virgin in a yearly ceremonial offering to the Linden gods for a year long protection from spam and bad weathers. I'm sure one of the Dolcett sims would be equipped enough to hold such event. @Mike.. Go ahead, buddy.. *edit me for harassment* Seriously, what am I willing to give up? Since the spammer is only attacking the Forums at certain hours of the day and weekends, we can limit creating new threads to groups ranked as Member and above for over a period of hours. Any threads created by anyone else are limited to 'emergency' purposes and must be addressed in the Answer section. Posting as replies however are unlimited and subject to moderation.
  6. @Winter: I do agree with you except for the limiting it to rank level. I had been working as an application trainer in RL in the past and I found pictures with the simple use of English are the best instruction guides for multi-lingual and multi-cultural class participants. I have been trying to do my best to help residents that were posting questions in non-kudo forums using the very same method. If we restrict them to Member and above, there will be no chance for mere low ranking residents like myself to contribute to the community. I mean how many higher ranking residents saved for a few that are really bothered to participate in what they consider as 'purposeless' forums like the Off Topic for example?
  7. Thanks Jenni.. this is great! Just one odd question, is this a self destruct script by itself? or do I need to manually remove them from the root prim when I'm done?

For everything else, just use the Search function on your top right and select the filter to ALL. I have also tried searching for my old posts by typing in my name. Hope that will help a bit.
  9. www.olganon.org Find an article about a man who lost his wife and job because of his addiction to Ever Quest. This is a support group for game addicts and you will meet some recovering SL addicts who might be able to let you stay off SL or at least find your balance. Going cold turkey may not always help unless it is life threatening.

Don't worry Marshall, I have no desire to start viewer bashing myself and I'm sure Dres won't either. But bashing each other does seem to be the theme for as long as I can remember. I mean if it isn't about whose viewer are the greatest it would be whose toenails are the prettiest... you can't get away from it. :smileyvery-happy:Marshall Burner wrote: 1...but in Phoenix you could have just selected the hairs in edit mode and do a "remove scripts in selection". 2... I wonder if it could be possible to do a script to put in the root prim which would delete scripts in all the child ones 1. I did checked and see if Viewer 2 has that function but I couldn't find it in Edit mode, or in Debug setting. I did however came across a drop down menu under Build > Scripts > Set Scripts to Not Running but this will only apply to multiple scripts in one object but not in multiple objects. Looks like the Devs will have more things to look into, don't you think? 2. I would give you the task to ask those scripters in the Scripters forum. :smileywink:
  11. Conifer Dada wrote: At another club there was an avatar with an ARC of over 30,000 but their hair didn't look any more real than mine! Some people doesn't seem to agree with ARC or its functionality to determine the cause of 'lag' in a sim. I'm going to quote Gwyn again of a tip she got from a friend of her on how ARC can be reduced to 1 for every avatars without telling them to detach any. Gwyneth wrote: ...she gave me a very simple and obvious tip to get rid of ALL ARC: just check the Avatar Impostors checkbox from Preferences > Graphics and set the slider for Avatar Details at the minimum. Now watch it closely: ALL avatar impostors, no matter how complex their attachment, have an ARC of *1*. I have not tried this myself but you might want to see if that actually true and if turning it down does improve your experience.
  12. Jenni Darkwatch wrote: Lots of prims on a sim DO NOT contribute to lag if they're phantom. Textures get transferred from the asset servers, but that _should_ not lag the server, especially not with HTTP texture transfers. Just to give some information for everyone on how your attachments or inventories are correlating to each other. Here is a link to Kelly Linden's wiki about the definition about Database, Asset Server Cluster and SIM. But this is what really interest me: Kelly Linden wrote: So, resident inventory lives in the (DB) and each item references one or more assets in (ASC). Object inventory lives in (SIM) and each item references one or more assets in (ASC). Items actually in world don't really reference any asset in (ASC) or anything in (DB). Keeping items inside the contents of objects in world and *not* in your inventory reduces the load of (DB) and may help keep your inventory loading faster, depending on how much you do it. It doesn't have any effect on (ASC) load though. Attachments are the only case of an item in world that is also in your inventory, and the only case of an item in world that isn't in the sim state saves. That makes them doubly unique, and doubly fun. They also cross region boundaries far more than any other object, which has significant implications[1]. So does it mean that if you have high prim counts with loads of scripts while moving across a different sim will cause a significant issues like unable to teleport, TP'ng too slow, time out and ultimately disconnection from SL while TP'ng, region crossing effect and *gasp* missing hair or a few prims here and there once rezzed into an area where there are avatars? It may also explains why some textures takes longer to load to for a client's viewer than some because of how the textures are loaded into the system. So I guess the next time I see an avatar without his pants on I shouldn't be quick to judge him as pervert.
  13. Keli Kyrie wrote: We all had our best hair on at Hippistock and we didn't crash the sim. Are you sure hair has something to do with this? I would really hate to have to trade in my hair. :smileysurprised: Apparently, after reading Marcus's link the answer was NO. Prims MAY have something to do with it but only if it is solid. Scripts will not lag you either except when you are in the presence of multiple avatars that are constantly moving or there before you and are sending in request/queries on the server for them to 'download'. Gwyneth Llewelyn wrote: One is where you are absolutely right: if everybody in a large audience is forced to be sitting down, using a single-frame pose that cannot be overriden (i.e. it was uploaded at Priority 4), and everybody who stands up is kicked out of the sim, then yes, everybody’s SL client will lag far less — the impact on sim lag will be not noticeable, since it still tracks down that avatars are in a “sitting” position and which animation is being used; but all SL client applications will naturally just download one animation, with just one frame (since it’s a static pose), and that will mean far less client-side lag. So, yes, you’re right — forcing everybody to use the same static pose will indeed reduce client-side sim lag, and that will be quite noticeable. Forcing people to remove AOs will make little impact if they’re allowed to roam the sim. As an avatar moves, it will trigger requests for animations — no matter if they’re overriden or not (the difference is that each animation is an extra download; animations, however, are usually small in size, and while they download, SL clients will display the default Linden anims anyway: which will continue to create client-size lag, no matter if they’re default anims or overriden ones). So the issue is not about AOs or not: the issue is to force everybody to be sitting down, not move, and use an animation that cannot be overriden. This is the only thing that actually will help reducing client-side lag. So in keeping with the subject of hair... No you don't have to trade your hair just yet. :smileywink:
  14. I'm learning as I am reading... I've got a message from someone inworld just now asking me what is ARC, prim counts, script counts and how to get these info. For the sake of everyone else who might be wondering what we are talking about, I'm going to explain that with a screen shot. Those who would like to ask more, please feel free to reply in this thread... as you can see there are plenty of knowledgable individuals here that knows all the technical side of your hair and you.
  15. Hi guys, Very informative feedback so far. I will get back to you once I'm back at home and not secretly using the work place's open port password to post this message. Willow. sent from NOT my Iphone.
  16. Hair has one of the highest prim counts on your avatar next to jewelries. On a decent hair design the prim counts could go over than 200 prims and you see this on hairs that has plenty of flexis and alpha layers. Any hair below 100 prims are usually updos, bobs or really short. They have minimal flexis and alpha layers. Another type of lag inducing hairs are the ones with scripts, be it resizer, texture changer or temp rezzer. Some comes with at least a combination of either 2. I'm not a scripter but you can know if the scripts were poorly written just by noticing the 'scan' time. Some scripts just took a lot longer to execute than others. Having said all this, I will admit that I am a guilty lag inducing hair user from day one. I can't help it when the hair looks good on me. I am however, willing to try being a good SL resident by learning more and be aware of the amount of scripts and prim counts that I wear everyday on my avatar and I will start this with my hair. Here's what I think a good hair would be. 1. No scripts 2. Modifiable - even down to colour picker and texture (I play with colours a lot. I don't mind going smurfy if it looks good) 3. Not more than 150 prim counts. I know it is hard to find a good long hair with less than 100 prim counts. I only use my highest hair counts in places where I know lag wouldn't be much of an issue like empty sandboxes or empty clubs or at my own place. 4. Quality textures 5. Reduced alpha layers (it makes modifying a lot easier) 6. Reduced flexis 7. Last but not least, well thought and nicely designed hair. No bald spot left uncovered. This could be a little bit of a challenge since hairs are one of the most difficult objects to create. A good hair takes time and effort and hair creators should be given some credits for having the patience and vision to create one of the most meticulous but important attachments on an avatar. Some might argue that prims, flexis and alphas has nothing to do with it. Some will adamantly swear by the scripts. Some will point to ARC. Some will disagree with ARC. What about you guys? How would you know if your hair will be the cause of a sim crash? What do you think a good hair should look or be?

I really must get a grip of this whole fantasy thing.... Thanks though A/Z .. The point of SL is to be who you want to be and have fun. I see no wrong in you wanting to be comfortable in your SL skin... I'm sure there are plenty of nice looking and decently covered two piece out there
  19. I have always liked the KR (Kastle Rock Couture) designs but I'm not so sure if the bottoms are a little bit too exposed for your liking. I liked it because of the extra layers that sort of accentuate your cleavages.
  20. Your welcome. I help when I can..

  22. I would like to complain about my Boss in RL. I don't like him at all. He gave me just too many assignments and he makes me the mascot of the department for every high level meetings just because he thinks I'm up for it. Well I don't !!! I don't like meetings. They're just wasting my time. I sit there listening to people who only listens to themselves and I'm wondering if they would like to sing as well since they love listening to their own voice. High level meetings only exposed me to politics I don't need and forced me to witness the orgy of brown-nosing people from every level. I can't go to sleep during meetings (like you would do during lectures) and I have to be serious when all I feel like doing is ROFLOL for every single stupid questions my boss's Boss has asked. I feel like diving across the table to choke that guy from Statistic Department to death for not being able to shut his stupid Iphone for just an hour. Did I mentioned I don't like my boss?
  23. Mine is a 2.5.1 as well. The Picks page is still like it is. You don't need to click on your profile. Just go straight to your PICK tab and do it from there.
