  2. You sound as though you agree with the adage that "The road to a woman's heart runs past Moody Shoes." In that vein (hehe), never tall a woman "Those shoes make you look like you have elephantiasis." PS This is off topic therefore should stay.
  3. I find that borrowing money and stuffs keeps them away. Gotta fiver till Wednesday Storm?

I hope so, anyway. Anyone who is unhappy with this forum of course has a wide selection of offworld forums now. Here is an interesting article about the capabilities of the new platform. If they have the ability to identify Threads/Topics at the push of a button there is certainly a reason for it. Wouldn't you think? http://lithosphere.lithium.com/t5/Building-Community-the-Platform/bg-p/MikeW/label-name/community%20analytics
  5. "Currently I am working a model that quantifies the value of WOM(word of mouth) in a community. This is along the road to quantifying the value of a superuser. Superusers actually come in many flavors (product experts, advocates, brand evangelists, opinion leaders, etc) and each type of superusers brings value through different mechanisms. More importantly, different community needs a different mix of superusers. For example, a support community probably needs a lot of product experts and some opinion leaders; where as a marketing community would need more advocates and brand evangelists. What is the optimal mixture of superusers for any given community?" The idea is to drive people to become Superusers. There are different types as noted above. While they admit to .1-1% of a community actually ever being Superusers the purpose is to get get lurkers in the "game" See the article on Gamification. Also look at the article on Motivation. Actually all the articles will paint the picture for you that would be tl:dr here. ETA For a throretical understanding of the ranking ladders look into Schedules of Partial Reinforcement. the schedules may be varied according to need, or group of users, or level/rank.
  6. Look here too. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Community-Feedback/Could-we-remove-all-the-writing-over-our-avatar-pictures/td-p/719619/page/2 Cerise is doing something related to Badges but dammed if I know what she is talking about. Something abou teliminating the text.
  7. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Your-Avatar/How-to-create-a-cool-forum-avatar-badge/td-p/707025 Suella lays it all out for you here I believe.
  8. Weren't you one Ima who was always afraid of puppetry and the inherent sleaziness associated with the self agrandizement associated with it. Imagine then if Advisors and up had the latent ability to mod, or censor, edit posts and peronas. Cato's et al concerns are valid. As we have already witnessed someone presuming their status deserved recognition and surrepticiously tries to influence mod and Manager attitudes. For most the ranks are inconsequential. That is until one of their posts or threads is locked or moved because someone who deems their rank is superior and therefore their concerns more credible is listened to by those with the ability to do that. Some hee have very real aspirations to climb the ranks and not necessarily for their altruism.
  9. I looked for that option as well but haven't found anything related to pdf. However, if you look near the top left, the dropdown for Topic Options, you can view in Printer Friendly mode. Perhaps this is Lithium's compromise. Not sure if you can d/l that as you would a pdf.
  10. Isn't it though? For this thread to flourish though we really need an Adult area.
  11. See here Phil for the explanation. Although Lexie changed the requirement that one must be a Member to post Youtubes. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/help/faqpage/faq-category-id/ranksroles#ranksroles
  12. Dam Storm, I can almost hear your heart beating upon the Altar of Devotion in the Temple of Love.

Is it perhaps the age of an avatar when she or he made a first posting in any of the old or older forums? I would feel honoured if someone could spread some light on our awesomeness I have to admit to being curious too. Perhaps it is the old age thingy. Just for fun I went back to the old-old SL forums and dug up my AV with a join date of 2006. Perhaps people could post when they first joined to see if there is any correlation. The ranks and roles section of the FAQ explains that "Participation" determines what your status is. If you look on your profile you will see your statistics. The algorithm and variables used to determine you Participation Score is a closely guarded secret. LL may use 2,5 or 10, or any number of those variable (that *we* can see) to use in the algorithm equation. And they can change them at will if they think people have figured it out.
  14. If you don't remember or interact with some of the people on your list then it is likely they won't remember you either and therefore won't be offended if they see the notification. In fact they may be just as relieved to see there friends list shrink too. If you delete someone and they get offended by it even though you only have spoken to them once or twice 4 months ago I wuldn't worry too much about it. If they cared they would be speaking to you on a more regular basis, wouldn't they?
  15. From a quick glance at the specs on that Nvidia included in your laptop it is low end and won't run SL. You need to upgrade. ETA This is what is reported to be in the Dell 620; 256MB NVIDIA® Quadro NVS 110M TurboCache You must use Nvidia drives.

There was one person in the Entertainment or Avatar sections I believe on the first day actually got the F word through before the filter was functioning but then was "edited for vulgarity". You can have your cake and eat it too though as far as I'm concerned. I was always fond of Kitty Galore as well. /me grins
