By platform/company, I meant company with a platform similar to SL with which to contend... not a huge social media or computer manufacturing company. Platforms such as Star Trek Online and World of Warcraft, which each have official forums... general discussion sub-forums and all. Many such platforms do. I can only assume that they do because it's actually beneficial to do so... perhaps you know better. ...Dres Me know better? No way! I just visited the Star Trek site, and it didn't take long to find people insulting each other. Does that place have moderation? RIC/AR? Over at WoW, one of the threads on the first page of the "General Discussion" forum is "This forum breeds negativity". So LL ain't the only place dealing with that. So, it appears maybe I don't know nuthin! Maybe? Appears?
  2. Darrius Gothly wrote: TDD123 wrote: As stated before elsewhere by others ... Void was not lost or banned. [snip] According to Void's own words, she departed these forums for good. That falls under my definition of "Lost". True enough, she did not depart SL nor the planet, but for the purposes of this thread and based on her own words, she has been lost to those people that come here for help, advice and guidance. Now, can you honestly tell me that's NOT a loss? This speaks to her Integrity. I am in agreement with you Darrius, while Void was not the only talent that gave freely here, her singular abilities have been missed, and we all would have been a lot better off had she remained. About a month after Void posted her letter that went ignored by LL I was contacted by Rodvik's lickspittle Viale Linden to have an in-world meeting to try and sort out some of the issues that people here were in an uproar about, mainly the state of the moderation and Void's case was on the top of the list. I contacted Void and asked her if she would like to accompany me to the meeting but she declined, deciding to wash her hands of the situation. The outcome of the meeting was fruitless, as you all can see or remember, nothing changed, we were still treated with disrespect here by the mods and LL and their attitude, reminiscent of the old "The peasants are revolting!" joke, has still not changed. Prior to Christmas, some of you may know, Caitlin Tobias, was forced to go to Ebbe on Twitter to get her case resolved. Xiola is now the 4th or 5th individual tasked with dealing with the problems, since Void's departure, associated with the Forums, the GD specifically and I wait to see how successful she is or whether she will be like the rest.

I don't doubt you would do a fantastic work spending your time moving threads instead of bashing new residents looking for help. Now who's lame here? Perhaps you would like to go in-world and feed the husky by hand for her Val. I see a lot of lame in this thread and none of it is coming from the Llazgun. It took me all of 1.7 seconds to Google Biobreeds. Is the OP incapable of performing that rudimentary function? If so then maybe they are not ready for the intricacies of SL. Like being able to identify where you have purchased something. The post is in the wrong section!
  4. The product of McMasters' contribution thus far.
  5. Awwww, what happened to the picture of the swimming kitty?
  6. I suppose that is true. She did begin enthusiastically and did manage to get a few things done. Unfortunately she had the rug pulled out from under her to our detriment. Many were disappointed when she closed her feed. I concur on Amanda.
  7. Elevation to bronze would be quite an accomplishment as all her predecessors only manged to come off as tin-plated crackpots.

Here is a transcript from 2011 of an inworld meeting about the forum -- with emphasis on moderation -- led by Viale Linden, and featuring many regular posters (few of whom are regular posters now). Very enlightening. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Community_Tools_User_Group/10-November-2011 Linked in that meeting was an open letter from Void Singer to Rod Humble, re forum moderation: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Forums-Feedback/An-Open-letter-to-Rod-Humble-Re-Second-Life-forums/td-p/1215419 We have lost a lot of very good people, people who brought much to the forums. Forum content now is sad indeed by comparison. I dont know if they can ever be won back -- unlikely -- but at least it might be possible to stop driving off those who have to potential to make significant contributions. Good job Pam, I was looking for lhat letter. It might be a good idea to point out that when a number of us took to Rodvik's Feed to lodge our dissatisfaction he closed it, as did Lexie and the abominable Viale. It is with Interesting pserendipity to note that that troika are now gone. Yet We remain, still waiting and hoping to be taken seriously and accorded with the requisite respect.
  9. Viale Linden<spits> What a useless, waste of pixels.

You're not suggesting that I may be doing this intentionally, to be provocative or antogonistic? Are you? Are you ok with the font size? I find most of what you post extremely provocative. Oh, and as far as the font size goes, it's not how big it is that matters, it's how you use it. Substance, with style and flair. Sounds right. Reflects your clarity and depth of understanding admirably.

In regards to moderation - the moderators do their best in helping to uphold the ToS and Community Participation Guidelines, however if you feel that a mistake or misunderstanding was made, the best route is to contact support so it can be reviewed. One thing we'd like to do is start more threads that will allow feedback on announcements here in the forums, but it sounds like you may have some additional ideas about what you would like to see and what you think would make the forums more interesting. What other channels do you think may help contribute to the community here as well? We appreciate your constructive feedback! Well, to start you did do one thing very right here. You posted under your actually Linden name, not some impersonal enigmatic psuedo name like Linden Lab or Commerce Team Linden that we have no idea whom we are responding to. Sometimes things seem almost Kafkaesque, we don't know the charges against us as we are judged by unknown persons in a secret court. Those of us who post here regularly are fairly well versed in the Community Standards. And while I agree overall with them, they can be applied in a heavy handed way. As an example, if someone were to call me a 'blithering idiot' so be it! Let the people reading make up their own minds if I am or not. That stuff doesn't always need to be deleted! If the rhetoric is getting out of hand in a thread, a Mod should pop in and warn us to tone it down. Not knee jerk censorship pull the posts and send people to a corner for a week. There has been so much stuff we have discussed in the past I could write a book but it's late now for me. And I will echo this, Void Singer still needs apologised to. I know was a long time ago and I wouldn't expect you to do it with researching the facts. That has been a blight on this Forum ever since it happenned. This is all well and good Perrie but you are assuming that they are always acting on their own initiative. And this is not the case for the most part. Like THIS thread should be relocated to the SPECIFIC subforum called FORUM FEEDBACK . . . Careful, they are liable to put into Events.

Since when has Support been responsible for dealing with issues that occur on the forum? Start making your announcements in the Forums FIRST as opposed to leaking them on 3rd party outlets. Make the Forum the Go To place for LL information/news, not bloody FaceBorg. Apologise, publicly, to Void!

Why was Lasky's thread moved out of this forum and into the Tech Forum? There is also a question about their impartiality.

So it should work, according this person, like this : ppl with same language talk together and don't mix with other ones. So sad ... So well, i have no regret to not participate to this forum.... i have better to do with my time... Have a good end of day ! Don't let anyone get under your skin like that.. You've got at least two languages that you know, which is more than a lot of people can claim.. That's pretty awesome..=) Perhaps she should first grow a skin, and then worry about people getting under it.
  17. Did anyone else notice that Lasky's 'I lost my breadable' thread/post was moved to the General Tech Discussion Forum? Need I say more? Although I do know I do but would have my post removed and be banned if I did.

As it happens the members of that formal group did include members from the latter. If your memory did serve, you would realize that the formal SL group did not pre-date the first reference to that latter category of individuals, and more to the point, the group was created as a response to the frequent reference to that latter category of individuals by the more insightful members that used to inhabit the GD forum on a regular basis before entropy took its toll. As for the mission statement and practice of the members of that formal group goes, their tacticcs were certainly not above reproach and they did their fair share of harassment, bullying and other reprehensible behaviour. The notion that the formal group was 'targeted' speaks to the narcisisstic ego-centrism of the members of that group. And I wasn't really concerned whether Scylla was ever a member of the formal group or the more general category; it is immaterial to the point I was making. On the first day of the 5th month of this year you posted........hahaha The diatribe of hatred. Alluh Akbah Derek. You will need to supply a link to a post on that date made by me Solo as my post history does not show one. Unless of course you are late for your meds which would explain things somewhat.

  22. As the majority of inworld time is spent rearranging inventory and with most purchases being done off the MP now as opposed to people going to inworld stores, your suggestion would significantly cut down on the numbers of people inworld thereby reducing lag sgnificantly. Wonderful idea.

And considerably more men died. Not sure what you meant about the start of WWI. The Archduke's assination? The usually accepted start is Summer of 1914, but what has that to do with anything in this thread? There is already a day set aside to commemerate the end of WWI. In the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth nations (as in France & Belgium) it's called Remembrance Day, and is considered a day to remember all who perished in that conflict—not just the young men who died in their millions on both sides, but the civilians who died in their millons as well. I would think someone who chose that namesake (what's the matter, did someone already have the single-L version?) would have understood that, considering yiour namesake was a participant in the conflict. This is wrong. Remebrance Day is set aside to commemorate the deaths of members of the armed forces who died in service to their countries, and has nothing to do with civilian deaths.
