  1. FYI in case you don't know the specifics on this: You can only edit anything in the forums (thread title, opening post, response) within 24 hours of original entry. After that, as you found out, all you can do is add another response.
  2. The 'basic' vs 'clean' are links to different instructions for updating an install, but they both point you to the same software download page. Since this is your first install, you don't really even need to use those instructions. Just download the appropriate version from the OS download page.
  3. No hay apoyo de LL aquí. Este es un foro de Residente a Residente. Los boletos normalmente no se procesan durante el fin de semana. Incluso durante la semana a veces pueden tardar unos días. Tendrás que esperar.
  4. In Firestorm, it is on the General tab of Preferences - it will display above your head For the SL Viewer, I'm not sure.
  5. That would be some sort of system message and (in theory, at least) would have used "You're" rather than "Your"
  6. Record player And for those too young to know what that is:
  7. Cuz the necro comments often have to be commented on. You know that many of us around here just can't leave things without a response.
  8. As my mother said, more times than I can even begin to count: "If all your friends were running out in front of cars on the highway, would you follow suit?" Many of us have started commenting more and more when we see these things.
  9. Your current settings must be set to hide you from search. When I search for your name, only the old account comes up.
  10. While poking around Flickr, I realized that I was following your old Flickr account. Now I know why none of these were showing on my feed.
  11. Lots of the older stuff is very complex, but at the same time very beautiful. I've run across many such items while cleaning inventory. If I really love it, I'll create an outfit for a picture and then file it away for nostalgia. This is one such outfit - the gown is truly gorgeous and flows wonderful for dancing, but it comes in at a bit over 2,000,000 CI on its own. I paired it with some pretty high CI hair & jewelry, resulting in this outfit having a total CI of 2,884,640.
  12. How do you think he got all those socks?
  13. Ah yes, another good way of grabbing a hidden object.
  14. Here's the link to the TOP of the Forums where, in the future, you can probably find a more appropriate section for your questions. https://community.secondlife.com/forums/ I suggest working on your camming skills - they can help lots in SL. And if you just can't seem to get the hang of it, you can download the Firestorm viewer, which will give you the ability to temporarily derender an object, making it easier to select things inside floors, walls, etc...
  15. Depending on viewer settings, the popups could be IM message windows / bubbles. And if you were clicking the check boxes for friends, and happened to click the 'can see me online' box a few times for a specific person -- turning it off & on & off & on - the specific person could have taken it wrong. If they have control over some place that you visit, they might have banned you from it (and told you via an IM) -- and possibly even removed you as a friend. If you save your logs for chat and IM, you can go to the folder where they are stored (default in SL viewer is C:\Users\PC-LOGIN-NAME\AppData\Roaming\SecondLife\SL-AVATAR-NAME) and check the logs for around the time period involved. Any and all IMs will be there, in a file named after the avatar that IMd you. You can check for people that were friends and no longer are by comparing the Calling Cards to your friends list. There is usually a one for one match, but if you unfriend someone or they unfriend you, then you'll still have the Calling Card, but they won't be on your Friends list. ETA: Explanation of how someone would know about you clicking those buttons: If you are clicking the "can see me online" button on and off, then every time you uncheck it, they get a notice in Chat saying "so-and-so is offline" and then when you re-check it, they get a Chat notice saying "so-and-so is online".
  16. Depending on when you had this problem, it could also be this notice from the Grid Status page (https://status.secondlifegrid.net/) -- which you should always check whenever you are having problems of any sort:
  17. I'm not sure I've ever seen such in the SL Viewer, but Firestorm gives you that ability in their Cameratools. Pull that up and the right two icons are what you'd use. Click the left of those two to store your view position and the right to return to that view position:
  18. You might have done a Limit Buy (right side of screen) rather than a Market Buy (left side of screen). A Limit Buy is an offer to buy L$ at a specified rate rather than whatever the current Market rate is. Since you are offering to buy something, the money comes from PayPal and goes into a hold area waiting for your buy offer to be fulfilled. You can verify whether or not this is what you did by going to your LindeX Order History (https://secondlife.com/my/lindex/history.php) . A pending order will show under Open Orders. If you want, you can cancel that order and then redo the buy using the left side of the Buy screen.
  19. Technically, Rolig is correct. However, you should be careful about large amounts flowing in and out of accounts in very short periods of time - things like transferring large amounts from account to account to account relatively quickly. Too much of that type of activity and LL might toss a few of the accounts on hold for a bit while they determine if there is any funny money stuff going on.
  20. There were more than 10 minutest between your initial post and the first response. Given how we typically roll around here, that was a huge window of opportunity.
  21. Well, considering that the post with the link was from 4 years ago, it isn't completely surprising that it no longer works.
  22. Yeah, basically what Ethan said. Sometimes it just isn't practical for me to walk far away from something. I've never used area search in that particular way, but for the times where I can physically move away, the area search does sound like a great tool for noting distance.
  23. This is why I almost always quote the random complainers here - and just redact whatever part they said that they shouldn't have. That way, at least anyone else coming along later, after a post might have been removed, still has an idea of what was going on. The post by Solar truly seemed out of left field, which is definitely unusual.
