  1. Is it too late to jump on this band wagon? What about lost inventory? Last year I lost 30K of expensive inventory with no compensation for that loss.
  2. Second Life or video (games) (cough)...there's no difference to real life because it is real life playing the game. Which way is the exit?
  3. I've been so guilty of this. I know it's not good to do that. Sometimes I forget to add c/m/t info on the texture. But my vendors are all ready wears (no box) so u can see inside and on MP it's there for sure, unless I goofed. Actually, I think you can see the permissions as well inside my boxes. If I go with a server, I'll have to update. I need to shape up or ship out on this. It's a good point. I don't do it to be mean or evil, I just get forgetful about that. If I love an item, I can always ask the designer. I don't think this has totally stopped me from buying something. As a general rule, for clothes, I don't need any permissions beyond copy. I've never had clothes not copy when I've bought them. General merchandise. I do agree with the OP and will be mindful of that.
  4. I cleared my cache and the items just lost came back, but the ones from a few days ago didn't. So bizarre. lol
  5. I request notecards. I don't get off line IM's. When I log out, I'm out. I made a personal decision to not get IM's offline and focus on real life. Notecards are more reliable for me.
  6. Ok, I've lost a lot of no copy items when I try to rez things and forget to change my tag. They don't go into lost and found, they just go POOF. What is this? Why doesn't it go back into inventory or at least lost and found? I have stores on several sims and my items are no copy... I just forget when I'm tping around. Sure would like to understand this better. TYVM
  7. I don't like glaring ones and started a thread here once complaining about them. But decided to be proactive, rather than complain, and created one with very low light and sell it for 10L. It's mod, too. I called it, "I'm addicted to my facelight." LOL. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Kakia-Designs-Im-Addicted-to-Face-Lights-Soft-Light/4206608I ... I gave up, just encourage low light facelights to avoid the glare.
  8. They don't follow their own Terms of Service, but maybe this one. I've reported repeaded TOS violations in world so many times over abuse issues, and nothing zip. Nada.
  9. Thanks to everyone. I had checked the search box. Had no idea that would generate a fee. It's nomanial so I'll leave it. Learn something new everyday!:cathappy:
  10. I lost about 30K last summer. So it does happen. Why? Don't know, my ownly theory was I was emptying my trash when I had a crash using the LL viewer (may or may not matter). The viewer "hung up," and when I relogged, the inventory was gone. It impacted my 3 year business and required my having a different frame of mind about SL. Here's my post, somewhat abrivated after the intial frustrations.
  11. I can't find anything about why I'm being charged for group liablity when I don't own Linden Land, other than through a private landowner. Does anyone know about this? Also, their ticket area is now so limited to what you can ask, that I can't ask about anything there. TY in advance.
  12. This is a sad trade off. I use temp textures like everyone, although, there is an avatar mesh for Photoshop that works good for the clothing textures for alignments. This will not work for mesh. I also make baby clothes and those will be another story. Sometimes I use as many as 10 uploads before I send up the final texture. So... I knew this was coming...no surprise at all. The local uploads are not as good. To me, the texture doesn't look correct. Most serious builders use their own studios and don't want to go elsewhere and deal with people around us, etc...or have to take the build into inventory before we log out, so going to an open grid is no option for me. We'll all be spending extra Lindens to get the job done.
  13. I'm confused. I can view it too. But can't list "new" items. They automatically list to Adult. So I am not posting them until this is resolved. TY for looking.
  14. Ok, so no matter what I list it goes to adult listing. Does not matter what catagory, how it's worded, zip, it will list Adult. SO...three days now and I can't list--or change listing once it's listed. I tried deleting and reuploading. That didn't work either. I have to blog some items with links back but can't do it until this is resolved. Is anyone else having this "particular" problem? Please no "check your wording," I have done that. So need other ideas. TYVM
  15. I have two stores. One listed on MP and one not. One is women's fashions, it's listed, one is baby clothes, it's not. My baby store does a good business and pays my tiers. My woman's fashions sells well inworld, but not on Market Place. It's a waste of time for me to be there. It's such a pain to list items I'm about to stop doing it. All day Iive been trying to list items but it keeps listing them as Adult and their not. So... still waiting for that to be fixed, oh, and ordered 10 items today and have received nothing. Market Place is not effective for me. It was when it was XStreet. I use MP for finding building items. Generally I will use it like a yellow pages but I go inworld to buy anything but building items. If youre a merchant you have your reasons as to why you do what you do. If you don't make money listing, why bother?
  16. Thanks. I suspected it was the sculpt. But another friend could see it fine. I had changed the wrong LOD setting. But I do have others that are aweful.
  17. For some reason a new sculpt I bought with full perms is not holding it's shape. If I zoom out 10 meters or so, it distorts. It's not a small sculpt, it's a craddle of average size. I have many other full perm sculpts in the area (smaller even) and they don't distort. It's not jewlery or something tiny where I should have to change my LOD factor. I came across this a few years ago with a hutch. It always distorted. Is this something to do with the way the sculpt was made? I'd like to sell it but it's borked for me so it might be borked for others. Any ideas??? I've given up researching, as nothing I could find would explain this. Hope someone has an idea. If it's the sculpt I'll delete it and try a different one. Using Firestorm latest release. TYVM
  18. Well, it was a love affair after Emerald passed away... It served us all well. I knew it would become obsolite, so I forced myself (way back last year) to use only FS, even if it made me crazy (which it did for awhile). It was a great viewer and the people who wrote the code to get mesh running on it are to be commended. I read how difficult this was. It's understandable they need to focus on Firestorm. Thanks Phoenix team (if you're reading this) for the memories~~~
  19. SL logged into my account to help me last summer, but it was done this way. 1. They sent me an email asking for that authorization. 2. They told me when they'd used it. 3. When they were done, they sent me another email. If those steps were not taken, then it was LL.
  20. I no longer have a premium account so don't know where to ask this question... I created a group for a new store, was charged for it (five days ago) and now it's gone! The link says not valid, and it's out of my groups. Any ideas? Or where I can look for info?
  21. Here is my dumb question. Why didn't they make an app for SL? Why did they put our money into something none of us want? We want an app that works with SL. I do, anyways. Sigh.
  22. I belonged to many groups, all the freebies, hunts, etc, Fashion for Life, Race for Cure, many benefit fashion shows and charities where I donated money and time. I was finalist in One in A Million Designers, showcases in Moolto. I was doing 3-4 hunts a month and hunt organizers want more and more original exclusive to give away for free. I did have bloggers blogging, and not paid bloggers (though I would tip if good photos). I had paid employees to help me get out notices and manage groups. Big over head. I would get 25-50 or more visitors a day to my store. A lot of work to get that many. Unless you sell hair! My work load was very heavy, as is anyone who is involved in all of these events. It's not a hobby, it's a job. It's many hours. I started at 7:30 and work till 5:00PM or longer every day. Not just designing, but setting up hunts, getting ready for events...blogging, Twittering, so many other things that go into it--on and lets no forget MP and the change from Magic Boxes that took a long time. Without repeating myself, (but I will), the idea to regroup was overwhelming. Original OP is about merchants getting meetings. I would be all for this because to go forward I would need some kind of guarantee that my issues would be addressed separately than the general support. Merchants do not have "general" problems. They have special needs.
  23. Couldbe Yue wrote: I was over in the beta grid the other day and noticed my inventory hasn't been refreshed since about june 2009. So if there's any periodic refresh happening I'm not seeing it, despite going in there a couple of times a year. The old way it worked was when you first log into the grid it downloaded everything that was in your current live inventory. I can't remember if you said you'd been in the beta grid before you tried to recover your inventory. If you hadn't then it's possible all it did was pull in whatever was left, which is why there was nothing to recover. I know this is absolutely no help to you but it might explain why it didn't work. Oh well... Merchants should have someway to control their inventory backups. I would pay for that extra service. Is this too far fetched?
  24. Trinity Yazimoto wrote: @Faye. ive been really sorry to read your story. Except the loss of your inventory, i can say pretty much the same than you on the remaining of your first post and yes i guess the inventorty drama added to all what you said before has been too much.. i cant even imagine how i would be in such case. Some merchants are enough lucky, and they deserve it by their work, to have enough incomes to pay all they expenses with them and even turn L$ in rl money, but the majority of us, have still to put rl money in sl to make our business running and so we need a lot of passion and trust in our sl creation work to keep standing up. But sometimes, even this is not enough. ________________________________________ The discouraging part for me was I was not breaking even. So, how could I recreate my inventory, example all the uploads. Many of my textures I could use over and over in other builds, but they were gone, too. The ones I buy, gone, too. The time to contact each merchant was becoming stressful to explain, especially if I bought so long ago--say one year or more and I am asking for copy. My copy boxes, well, some I find, many were in the file I lost, so up and down I was going trying to figure this all out...but then, I say, "wait," why you doing this? They'll not help me if it happens again, and always they are kind of mean in customer service. They only say for everything: "do clean uninstall and remove all viewers." This is "pat" answer to any problem I had over the years. So, as my help ticket posted on my blog kind of indicates how I was confused because, ok, I frist think I can fix this, then day after day I find this gone and that. I was used to searching my inventory and the item was there, but it was like, no, it's not there... then discover many other items gone too, as I explained. I was putting money into SL that I don't have....many people are hurting economically. But I loved SL and I do it to be here. But when they give me the quote that we play out our own risk, but they take our money at no risk to them, I just think, wait...what is wrong with me? It's not them--it's me, because I am dumb to keep paying when I know they not help. Oh well...I just wanted them to give me copies of MP items and then maybe try find my items, especially all the texture uploads and my skirts I make, and those skirts take HOURS of time to do. Thankfully I didn't lose my folders I had uploaded to MP. Those are intact. A good thing. But as I say, I was warn out from everything going on in fashion here--and mesh was new wrench and glutting more and more with everyone buying template mesh and texuring same designs--I try some but, really, thought they were not so good--but there are people who are doing really good, and now I'm worn out and thinking, can I make mayself learn this too and be really good or just sorta good? What is my future anyways with mesh here? I was just tired of it and the loss was just a wake up call for me. Others maybe they would push through the loss and slowly rebuild, and I respect that, but I spend a lot of money ( many do) here and just knew I couldn't keep going at that financial rate--$75 each month plus premium account, well that is a lot for me to spend on no guarantees. I still have love to do it, but just afraid to take a chance again with my real money. So I just need time to think and do other things in Real Life and maybe oneday I'll have ideas about what to do in the future here. I had to walk away to just get new and better perspective. But Linden does not care that I left, they didn't want my money because someone else comes to give them the money. The last note was just how much time it would be to fix all this. Anyways, thanks all for kind words. I was just sad and depressed as I said and didn't know how to express this loss or what to do about it and I felt alone and foolish for the thousands I invested in building a future on sand.
