  1. To learn texturing, there are many sandbox sites that teach classes, as well as sites donated to building. Builder's Brewery has many classes, and ofter class and materials for free. Welcome back.
  2. It's a good idea to check grid status before ordering or taking things out of inventory that are not copy. LL recomends when they are having rolling restarts that you can lose items. If your items just disappeared, follow the above instructions. Items lost due to restarts are not replaced by LL, fyi. Good luck.
  3. I had no idea bout these kinds of things... Thanks for the heads up!
  4. Phil Deakins wrote: Judging by its other posts, and by its inworld profile, the post above mine looks like an auto-post. It actually attempts to make some sort of marginal sense in the threads where it's posted, so it may not be for the same purpose as the usual ones that we get here. It may be an improvement over the usual auto-posts, possibly changing its posts later, like the others do, or it may be someone's experiment. Either way, its very unwelcome, imo. What do you mean, Phil? I'm lost.;-)
  5. Modifying can be more than a script to copybot it. Modifying means your graphic design, preferences on your skirts are open for anyone to examine, and use for the creation of other skirts. It's not a direct copy but you can get size/rotations/and features this way.
  6. I had lag problems for awhile but it's cleared up. Hope it wasn't my store! LOL
  7. Sassy Romano wrote: no mod does NOT prevent but rather encourages copybotting since if a merchant is unwilling to help but has the customers money, its one way to be able to use the product which has been paid for. permissions mean nothing to copybot process and believing otherwise is naive. Why would that be naive rather than just not known by someone? When you say merchant is unwilling to help...do you mean at all? I'm not sure the conversation was originally posed for those kinds of merchants. I had only heard about this "no modify thing" in regards to copybotting. I allow modifable on most of my items. I think there are a few that might still be out there but if someone wanted to modify them, I would help them.
  8. http://mashable.com/2012/03/23/zynga-economics/ Read this buisness model for screts to online gaming. They use Zynga as that model... Then focus on #4
  9. Well. I am getting an error message the past two days in both LL viewer and FS. I only got 1 item in direct delivery before this message started. So, I'm borked. Anyone else? The thing that's hard is most designers are designing, involved in hunts and events and other things that are really a job here, and this added "job" that is so slow, omg, the MP is a snail, well, it's just impossible to get this done. Here's the message:--anyone else? Marketplace initialzation failed Initalzation w ith the Marketplace failed because of a system or network error. Try again Later.

(or custom fit if needed) and No copy. I do not use venders and I do not have gift options so, this works out well for me and customers seem to appreciate the trans..and I am fast to respond to customers and most know that. ; ) Also to me, If someone buys it wears it a few times and wants to pass it to a friend or an alt.. it wont be a problem...who am I to tell them they cant pass it to a friend? I would in RL, do it all the time when I buy something I liked in store but wore a few times and found out I dont really like it.. pass it to a friend. It is arrogant and I totally agree to not have a clothing item no mod is a mistake.. I know some sell the prim parts mod but the clothing layers no mod, which what happens if I want to wear a pair of pants with boots that have a flair? I cant fix that.. so I have to buy another pair of pants to wear boots with? One of my biggest frustrations is a inventory full of outfits I would love to pass to an alt (or friend) but I cant... I seriously hate no trans and myself I wont buy clothing unless its mod. I change my shape so much that a no mod would be useless to me. As an experiment I put a few outfits up, one mod copy one mod trans and after a week or so, I judged the amount of each I sold and this resulted in more trans items being purchased.. So, maybe its a good idea to try that yourself, see what your customers want. Good luck. Mesh clothing is a whole other bowl of cherries......................... no use for mod on those. When I've sold items as transferable, they end up in some elses shop, not passed to a friend. I, personally, don't like my items sold in other stores, and sometimes repackaged. There is an issue with copy botting and using modifable permissions. It is my understanding that this is why some designers do not allow modifable clothing. It's done for protection not arrogance as far as I've heard.
  11. Deltango Vale wrote: There was an infamous land scammer back in 2006-2008 who used to buy a 512m2 in the middle of other 512s then erect the biggest junkpile possible. Her trademark was flaming KFC buckets and huge posters. She would then set her parcel for sale at an inflated price. If a neighbor bought her land to get rid of the junk, she would immediately buy another 512 nearby and repeat the scam. If anyone tried to speak with her, she would scream - and I mean scream - in the foulest language imaginable - that she was being persecuted. She made a hell of a lot of money running that scam before LL finally kicked her out. Those were rough days on the mainland. Someone should be documenting these stories for future Second Life generations. This is good stuff!
  12. I think I mentioned before I'd picked up the gifts, but not the boat. I saw a hugh mountain in the premium sand box, explored, and saw it was the premium gift site. So that is how I ended up there. I did like the furniture.
  13. Well, bye, too, tho not sure what the reference is. Ok, just checked the two I uploaded directly to MP, and yes, it's slow as a snail, but they seem listed. Not sure what happened to the Magic Box listing of these two items because that seems gone. I watched the vid and thought I had to delete them. Well, it was easy, and if I can do, anyone can. I am hoping the site gets faster. I'll just do a few each day. Sure feel better now that I tried it!
  14. I think we should social network these dorks. Or stand around their stores with picket signs. Good God, these designs take hours to create--heck, DAYS and weeks! Power to the pen...erm...Internet.
  15. Magic boxes are going away, so that problem is solved. I made mine invisable. I've complained a lot about Mainland in these forums, but at the moment, trying not to look around too much or worry about things. I noticed one of my trees overlaps one of Marie O'Toole's garage's but so far she hasn't sent it back. It's not in the garage, just the invisable part is on her border. PS. I got yelled at yesterday by a total stranger! She was listening to local voice with me and some friends and did not hear what I said correctly, and sent me a nasty IM! People are people.
  16. I just picked up the premium gift and it's from December 2011. Sheesh. Anyone know about these gifts and how they're managed?
  17. Awe, Kelly, I so understand. It is so stressfull and time consuming, and then the pay off is so small. ;-( The price, high! Especially if you own land... mine is 75.00 US dollars a month + extra for Prem, so, I'm so maxed out and really wondering if this is worth it anymore. Both time-wise and money-wise. I don't know how the decisions are made, but I'm assuming they're trying to fix the Market Place, and plenty have been angry about failed deliveries (this wasn't a problem for me, tho in a long time). I'm hoping this new system makes it easier, but it does send your items to some cloud where LL has them squirreled away. Maybe this is good, maybe not. I don't know about anything anymore. Most of the people in SL are totally in the dark about these changes. We, us, here are less than 1% of users. So... all we can do is one thing at a time and try our best and if it's not good enough in SL, then we have to look for other grids. But things are changing, rapidly. I don't care so much about "change," I care about the terrible communications from the lab. Everything is mysterious and causes lots of distress.
  18. My first delivery went straight up, now, just errors and MP is so slow I can't get to my Merchant area. Might have to wait a few days before trying to do this.
  19. IF my brain does not blow a gasket, I am going to use this opportunity to clean up my MP inventory. I have a lot of things in the box I don't list. I'm kinda sad we're losing our pretty gift boxes. Oh well. It will be easier for noobs to get dressed. I don't think the boxes were much of a problem for oldies. Besides we all have about 10000 in our inventory that will still be there. LOL. Happy Day!!! Om, Peace, Amen! Turning lemons into lemonaid!
  20. Sera Lok wrote: KellyM Watkins wrote: Thank you Sera, I will give that a go. Its weird though. On my listings some say 'Direct' and some say 'Magic Box' but according to my Merchant Outbox inworld, there is nothing in there. :smileyfrustrated: That is because the outbox empties itself each time you upload stuff. I don't know where the items are being stored, but instead of storing it in our inventories or magic boxes, there is now some.. 'other place' where things are kept. Take a look at the Torley videos, they might help, they certainly helped me! Thank you for this. I think I have hope. ;-)
  21. Debbie Infinity wrote: Great, just what I need, more work. I think I will just close up shop and stop messing with the marketplace. Me too because I still don't know how to do any of this. Well.. I think that other merchants were given notice before some. Because notice who isn't posting on these forums. Nuff said.
  22. There's a Twitter feed on that site. Maybe some public knowledge? I Tweeted with reference back to this post and that blog. Explose them. I have 200+ follwers. Anyone else do the same. Social networks are there for a reason. PS: Did you give Linden the link to MP? I can't believe she's selling on MP with stolen skins and, omg, she's giving them away for 99L or free!
  23. Same problem. My images get washed out on MP. I've no idea how to handle it either. I think it's resized and thrown into a washing machine, dried and left in a basket for a week.
  24. I have a small store that one might say has a cottage feel, it's actually tucked behind some trees. I keep it small because it's easier to manage, and I only present customers with new items. I keep it updated by season, and enjoy and take pride in my store. I want people to say, oh, this is different. And enjoy their visit. It brings me pleasure. Last year, well, nearly 2 years ago, I had a HUGE store. It was overwhelming. It seemed I couldn't ever get it to look cohesive. And way too many walls to fill. It was a good learning experience. I've had my small store now since and I'm very happy there and don't plan to expand.
  25. Hummm Interesting that the club ejected you. It has been my experience (I only frequent ballrooms) that club owners generally work with the person who is exposed. I do think that a club owner can eject anyone they want for any reason. When mesh first came out, a woman came into a jazz club I was in and looked naked. I told her she was naked and she told me to bite myself. So, maybe did you say anything cranky to them? I think, i really do, that not everyone has systems that run the newer viewers. It's just that simple. These newer viewers are energy/ram/graphic hogs. Standard is fine, but maybe standard is too expensive for everyone to upgrade. I think that they should have asked you to change, at least for the night. I still don't like mesh on my avatar. BUT, love the shoes!!
