  3. If you are somewhere around the 60-day point, even a little over, it's possible everything is still there...see letter received when I canceled my account: After expiration, we'll put your account into hibernation for 60 days. We'll hold on to all of your in-world stuff for awhile, so if you reactivate within 30 days, everything will be pretty much where you left it. We'll keep your inventory and avatar a bit longer, so if you return within 60 days you'll still be you! If you want to reactivate your account during the 60 day period, you can do so at any time just by visiting https://secondlife.com/account. However, there will be a reactivation charge based on your original account type. Cost for reactivation depends on what you were at the time of cancellation. I was basic back then, so when I asked them to reactivate, there was no charge They will tell you on the phone there is no guarantee that inventory is still intact, but if you were basic, no harm done to try now and see
  4. Don't pay your tier many months in advance...:matte-motes-little-laugh:
  5. I use the search from my browser at my.secondlife.com...is that the same as the inworld search? When I try to use the search in my viewer (Firestorm) it really slows everything down A LOT, I think something to do with those 'slplugin' things
  6. I begged my Mom to take me with her to see this one when I was 9...had a hard time sleeping for weeks

By the time I'm done working my way through the door spam, I'm no longer interested in visiting where ever it is I've just landed. I don't know why so many people think it's a good idea to throw all of these obstacles between them and my money. Yea, this^^^
  8. Tari Landar wrote: I remember exactly what I was doing. I was sitting in a hospital room at the children's hospital with my 4 month old babygirl watching her cling to life and praying for a miracle. There wasn't anyone else in the world more important than her at the time. I remember watching what happened, because the tv interrupted what was on. But I can honestly say at those particular moments my emotions were focused elsewhere. My babygirl needed me to be there, all of me, not half focused on her and half focused on the tragedy I couldn't do anything to stop. I said a prayer for those invoved and went back to focusing my energies on her. I know it sounds terribly selfish and most people have some not so nice things to say about people who weren't utterly stupified by the tragedy of the day. Not saying I didn't care, didn't(and don't) mourn the losses(I lost family in the 9/11 attacks as well). I'm just always honest when asked what I was doing the moment I found out. Tari, it doesn't sound selfish at all. It's all about priorities, even in a national emergency...for a lot of people, time stood still that day, for others, life went on. I'm glad you were there for your daughter in her time of need
  9. No, not Phoenix...Firestorm has a mesh beta out now
  10. Lynda, thank you for your service Best wishes to you...

  12. I've been here 4 years and I have yet seen anything myself...although I did notice this the other day, they say it's going to be their new promotional campaign http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Featured-News/Casting-Call-Apply-to-Star-in-a-New-Second-Life-Video/ba-p/1090165
  13. Ariel Vuissent wrote: Lionheart often advertises here on the forums, and seems like a good company, as well, though I haven't used them. What turned me off of them was that I would have had to pay a (one-time) "set-up" fee of over two thousand $L for the parcel I wanted. What I have now, I own the land, bought for $105L, as well as paying rent (which I think is pretty unavoidable). Ariel, yes, Lionheart does charge a purchase price (set-up fee) for the parcel. I live there and love it...well worth the fee considering what all they have done with the sim. To me, it stands out above all the other estates, with the exception of Outerland (I think that's what they're called,) that has the same price cost to purchase. That's what you pay to live in that sort of community, well worth it, IMO ETA: The purchase price also includes 7 days of tier...
  14. Check out the Lionheart sims...lots and lots of different sized parcels and pricing. Beautiful place to boot...choice of riverside, lakeside, ocean front, woodland, etc...
  15. We were waiting for my sons schoolbus. My husband called and said put the tv on, he had told me that a plane had flown into the WTC. As I watched, I thought I was watching a replay of the first plane hitting the tower, until I realized I was watching a second one hit The only thing I could think of was those poor, poor people on the plane, how horrified they must have been, how helpless...Of course, as the day wore on, it only got worse. Lillie, I too remember how quiet it was in the skies for the next few days...we live less then an hour from the two chicago airports and air traffic was frequent usually. I suffer migraines...got one that day from the emotional upset, I suppose...after the third day of my meds not helping, I ended up in the ER to get help. Thank God for morphine. I still think about that day frequently as the years have passed. It's not something I will ever forget
  16. @Lillie...hmmmm, we should probably PM, I have a feeling I'm closer to you. Used to live in Mishawaka, now I'm about 50 miles east of Chicago, just shy of the Michigan border, on the lake ETA: Oh wait, you said east of South Bend/Mishawaka...that would probably put us further apart, but almost neighbors, lol.

I remember these ads, they didn't last very long. Yikes, Lillie, my bad....should have been a local branch of the national chain Whenever this company does anything bad, our local news picks it up bigtime...always slow news days out here in the midwest, lol.

  21. AlexaShade wrote: Is there a difference between buying an "avatar" and buying a "skin"? I see both for sale and as a new player on SL I am kind of confused. If there is a difference which is better. The original avatar that I received when I first logged on leaves much to be desired. thank you in advance for taking the time to answer. Alexa Shade Lol...don't we know When purchasing a skin, it is just that, a skin. Each skin will look different on your shape, so please, always use the demos to check it out before buying. Purchasing an avatar is the whole kit and kaboodle...shape, skin, etc...that will make you look just like the avatar advertised. But beware, some are not the whole thing, instead it will give you a notecard on places to purchase said hair, eyes, etc to have the exact look. Hope this helps and have fun!!
