  4. I've been here 4 years and I have yet seen anything myself...although I did notice this the other day, they say it's going to be their new promotional campaign http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Featured-News/Casting-Call-Apply-to-Star-in-a-New-Second-Life-Video/ba-p/1090165

What turned me off of them was that I would have had to pay a (one-time) "set-up" fee of over two thousand $L for the parcel I wanted. What I have now, I own the land, bought for $105L, as well as paying rent (which I think is pretty unavoidable). Ariel, yes, Lionheart does charge a purchase price (set-up fee) for the parcel. I live there and love it...well worth the fee considering what all they have done with the sim. To me, it stands out above all the other estates, with the exception of Outerland (I think that's what they're called,) that has the same price cost to purchase. That's what you pay to live in that sort of community, well worth it, IMO ETA: The purchase price also includes 7 days of tier...
  6. Check out the Lionheart sims...lots and lots of different sized parcels and pricing. Beautiful place to boot...choice of riverside, lakeside, ocean front, woodland, etc...
  7. We were waiting for my sons schoolbus. My husband called and said put the tv on, he had told me that a plane had flown into the WTC. As I watched, I thought I was watching a replay of the first plane hitting the tower, until I realized I was watching a second one hit The only thing I could think of was those poor, poor people on the plane, how horrified they must have been, how helpless...Of course, as the day wore on, it only got worse. Lillie, I too remember how quiet it was in the skies for the next few days...we live less then an hour from the two chicago airports and air traffic was frequent usually. I suffer migraines...got one that day from the emotional upset, I suppose...after the third day of my meds not helping, I ended up in the ER to get help. Thank God for morphine. I still think about that day frequently as the years have passed. It's not something I will ever forget
  8. @Lillie...hmmmm, we should probably PM, I have a feeling I'm closer to you. Used to live in Mishawaka, now I'm about 50 miles east of Chicago, just shy of the Michigan border, on the lake ETA: Oh wait, you said east of South Bend/Mishawaka...that would probably put us further apart, but almost neighbors, lol.

I remember these ads, they didn't last very long. Yikes, Lillie, my bad....should have been a local branch of the national chain Whenever this company does anything bad, our local news picks it up bigtime...always slow news days out here in the midwest, lol.

  13. AlexaShade wrote: Is there a difference between buying an "avatar" and buying a "skin"? I see both for sale and as a new player on SL I am kind of confused. If there is a difference which is better. The original avatar that I received when I first logged on leaves much to be desired. thank you in advance for taking the time to answer. Alexa Shade Lol...don't we know When purchasing a skin, it is just that, a skin. Each skin will look different on your shape, so please, always use the demos to check it out before buying. Purchasing an avatar is the whole kit and kaboodle...shape, skin, etc...that will make you look just like the avatar advertised. But beware, some are not the whole thing, instead it will give you a notecard on places to purchase said hair, eyes, etc to have the exact look. Hope this helps and have fun!!

  18. hmmm...good thought about them being modifiable Thanks
  19. oops...misunderstanding, I have the hairbases, but was wondering why the hairpieces themselves, only come in black sold by LAQ
  20. Valerie, please, a short derail...I know you like Laq hair, but do you know the reason why the hairbase skin hairs (specifically Kira & Tasha) only come in black? I love them, but want to stay a lighter brunette...am I missing something? Thanks for any info you might have...I've sent an email on their website, but will probably be awhile before I receive an answer.

That's another discusstion.... It some parts of northern England (where I'm originally from) lunch is also called dinner and dinner is called tea. It hurt my poor wee brain when I moved south and had to get used to calling them 'lunch' and 'dinner'! Suella...wow, could it get anymore confusing? In the US, I have always assumed that if you ate at an earlier hour (5:00 for example) it was supper...eating a meal later in the evening (8:00 or so) was dinner. In my family, we intermingle the two words ETA: From Wikipedia, interesting take on the difference of words and it's origins http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supper
  23. I have always like the Sears Optical ones...the one with the racoon mistaken for the cat was good, but this one really made me laugh when I first saw it:
