True dat! I saw a news report last week discussing the fact that men and women who tend to be more aggressive and that are typically considered assholes at work, actually yield a higher salary than that of their always friendly and never disagreeable coutnerparts. I would post the link, but I can't access it at the moment. Assholes need love too Nice to see you here, BTW It's probably because the friendly & never disagreeable ones, don't stand up for themselves...they let people walk all over them
  2. I live in the midwest, so didn't feel it...hope all is well with you and others

I am using the phrase 'we' because I don't want to get involved in pointing fingers. I do know how well the shoe fits will vary from poster to poster. Have you ever been in someone's house who didn't control their children? Have you ever had anyone visit you with their undisciplined children? How do you react when you are shopping somewhere and a parent is letting their kid run hog wild through the aisles? I once visited someone who was allowing their puppy to poop where ever it wanted. I can sure tell you that was not a pleasant experience. No one is saying that it is wrong for adults to have strong emotional responses. There are political and other issues that make my blood boil too. But as an adult I have learned that I need to take that deep breath and settle myself down, otherwise it is not possible for me to function and make a positive contribution. We talk about community. And there is a sense of community here. Participation in a community requires respect for the community. The problem in the old JIve forums was that when the community said to someone, "Please chill out a little," the response was essentially, "F*ck you." So we forced Linden Lab's hand. We refused to pick up our toys after ourselves, so they had no choice but to take away our toys. Things have loosened up some since the start of the Lithium forums. But I still don't blame Linden Lab one bit for maintaining a tight reign over this Forum. Do I think it is way too tight at times? Absolutely yes. But I prefer this over the blood baths of the old Jive forum. It is still something that we brought upon ourselves. This, in a nutshell...but as always, just my opinion.
  4. Wow, great to see some familiar faces Hi Chris....:matte-motes-sunglasses-1:
  5. Yeah, but that's how you learn all kinds of neat things, by doing it the hard way :matte-motes-nerdy:
  6. I have an object that is spamming me with a popup every 20 seconds or so...It's not attached to me but is located somewhere on my parcel, but only on one half of it. I've tried locating it on that half, but I have over 1600 prims and can't see it :( ETA: Thanks Valerie...that showed me exactly where it was, is the good news...the bad news is it's my neighbors security orb :( But I can't click on it to mute. Guess I will have to wait until they log in to adjust it.

  8. Try MADD or Body Doubles...don't really know what I'm talking about since I'm a girl, but all the ones I have seen that I liked on someone, comes from one of these
  9. You would probably do better downloading the Firestorm viewer...too many bugs not worked out in the updated V2 viewer
  10. ...or some help in ruling out one or another? I am having major problems with freezing up & crashing (average twice per hour session), but how do I know if it's my connection (wireless) or my drivers (Nvidia) or the viewer (Firestorm) or just SL screwing up and glitching? TIA for any input/ideas...I'm frustrated :( ETA: Thanks to all who answered...I've been inworld most of the day today, haven't changed anything, and am no longer having a problem it seems. Must be the server or the grid itself that had problems :(

  12. Also, can't rez anything inworld Bummer...
  13. Bent...hmmm, I did that very same thing just a couple of hours ago and it worked fine for me. I didn't think it would take since there wasn't a saved button, but it did.
  14. Jacki, ditto for me...wanted to get used to the V2 experience and went with Firestorm. So far, so good...with the official V2 SL viewer, I had nothing but problems
  15. Sylvia Tamalyn wrote: Excellent suggestion, Peewee! (Though I admit I find these threads kind of amusing in a facepalm sort of way.) Ummmm, yea...I would bet 19, tops!
  16. SL in the last week, has been totally unusable for me...I log in ok, but from there I am so bogged down, I literally can't move for minutes at a time...then when it finally does free up, I'm jerky, can't control my avatar. My CPU resources are constantly going between 63% - 100%, which I figure is the cause of me not being able to participate inworld. I was using V2.6, thought maybe that was the problem, so went back to Phoenix and Dolphin 1x...still does the same thing no matter what viewer. I've been in SL for four years now, with this same computer, graphics card...and other than lag in populated sims once in awhile, have never had a problem. Nothing has changed on my end with computer, settings, etc...Anyone have any ideas on what to do? Or what's going on? ETA: Hi Valerie & Love...yeah, it just seems to be SL, don't have a problem anywhere else. I have manually cleared my cache and also before trying each viewer, I did them on clean installs...nothing left behind of the previous. @Identity...thanks for the link, but I don't have any of those problems...I can get in fine, no problem with logging, but once I'm inworld, it's useless :( ETA: OMG, Nyll...that was it!!! Thank you so much...I was considering quitting the game, didn't want to pay my rent for something that was not usable. I would give you 1,000 kudos if I could :) Thanks again.

I am of the opinion that as a fellow caring compassionate human we should be able to forgive him. I do not know about Linden Labs overall professionalism or lack thereof when dealing with their customer base, they have always treated me with the utmost respect. If the employee were mine I would be glad that he didn't get into a lengthy diatribe with someone who a, was either very emotional atm or b, was a hack job looking to cause trouble. I have given the OP my condolences, I have agreed to your valid arguments and I have hoped to state that my position is while the Scout may or may have not deliberately been rude is unable to be established because we cannot know what his intentions were. As reasonable persons we should be able to put ourselves in that operators position and see them as a person, not a drooling drone. @Charlotte...I agree with your thoughts on this. I have also noticed whenever someone posts the chat with a Scout, that it is very cut and dry in their response, no matter what the topic or problem is. It seems to me, that they are probably taught or told not to engage in long-winded discussions/conversations, not to argue a point...wastes everyones time and people get inflamed. I've noticed once the Scout says the way it is, the canned responses come out and there is the disconnect...you can't argue with them.

  19. I don't know...I didn't read any victims names in that article and it only gave an apartment complex name and general vicinity. In all fairness, LL couldn't do anything with this information. I agree though, that they could have been more sympathetic while dealing with you. I'm sorry about your friend ETA: I'm curious, how do you know she was involved?
  20. I went earlier today to check the place out...it's gorgeous. Thanks for the link, PeeWee

I have found ways to stop my computer from using 100% of it's resources while using this viewer. Plus ways to stop my nvidia graphics card to stop freezing while in world. This viewer is far better than the one that came out in 2009. Those are the only ones I have on my 4 year old computer. Rufio...I have problems with both of these, nvidia & resource use. Can you point me in the right direction or post some links that you found useful?
  22. Awwwww...I love happy endings :matte-motes-wink-tongue: :matte-motes-sunglasses-3:
