Literally every community has gatekeepers. Ignore them. -

Well, I said I'd Neko, so I Neko'ed. But apparently this does not make me a furry? Which is fine, I guess. -

Not to you, Rat. You are emphatically not the issue. -

I'm afraid to ask this but . . . where does Neko fit in? Is it a part of this community, or too anthropomorpic? Cuz if I were going to experiment with any of these, it would be Neko. -

Yes, but not all furries are anthropomorphic? So "Anthro" would exclude those representing as non-bipedal animals? (God, I know soooo little about this.) -

I agree. At the moment, both of these pages seem more like PR about how inclusive SL is (which, fine, it is), than really useful resources. -

There's a huge and very well organized LGBTQ+ community in SL, with scores of groups, clubs, and regions or parcels devoted to it. I'm not LGBTQ+, but I could direct you to a dozen without even having to look it up. -
Well, the time is a weeeee bit off, but better late than never! (ETA: I kinda love how the pic looks like the set for Sesame Street. I'm half expecting to see Big Bird and Elmo roll out waving rainbow flags.)

Took this pic as part of a composite, so it'll never see the light of day on Flickr, but I don't think its bad, so I thought I'd post it. Besides, it makes me look a bit intimidating, which is not a look I achieve very often, so yay!

But then you'd be sticky and wet, and you'd probably get licke . . . OOOOOOOOOOOOH.

As you suggest, what is most disturbing about Roman attitudes to male homosexuality is the violent and rather vile misogyny embedded within them. Basically the worst thing you can say about a man is that he had sex like a woman. There was even a dedicated verb in Latin for violently f****** someone in the face: "irrumo." By implication, doing this to a man feminized him, and made him contemptible, so it was sometimes employed as a threat. Nice. Both Catullus and Martial produced brief poems that curse/insult rivals and enemies using this kind of language. I can't reproduce them here: they'd get me banned. -

Fair point . . . to a degree. There are protests and there are . . . protests. Well-run protests, like the picket lines of striking workers, don't cause these kinds of problems. And the number of people losing their jobs merely because a protest makes them late to work must be vanishingly small. My main point stands, though. If your support for LGBTQ, for women, for blacks, for immigrants is contingent on them not inconveniencing you, it's pretty shallow. Effectively punishing those who need support because someone was a jerk to you at a protest is not evidence of a very well-developed understanding of what justice means. -

This. If you're so shallow as to abandon or dismiss a worthwhile and just cause because it makes you a little late for work, you're saying a great deal more about your own ethics and your commitment to the principles of justice than about the "tactics" of protestors. -
Should this prove the case, then many of my objections become moot -- although I still think the focus here should be generic. Still waiting for the "next" in the supposedly ongoing series of "community pages," however. Maybe the fact that these are being produced by a third party means it will actually happen. On another note, there is a rather superfluous focus upon the aesthetics of certain bodies here: pro-Maitreya, anti-Legacy, anti-Ruth, etc., not to mention the utterly ridiculous argument that only certain body types should be showcased. None of this is really relevant. Let people make up their own minds about what they like.

I'm so sorry. I would be even did this not impact on you: it was horrific. But I know how it can feel to be aware something so terrible has happened in a place where you live or have lived. In 2018, an Incel in my city rented a van (guns are not so available here), and went on a rampage along part of the city's main north-south street, ramming pedestrians. He killed 11 people, 9 of them women, and injured another 15. Although it happened in a part of the city quite far north of where I live, I know the area well and have certainly been there. The probability that he was targeting women made it more chilling. It took me (and my city) some time to get past the horrible feelings it evoked. Hugs and, again, I'm so sorry.

It's odd. Designing and drawing a good tattoo requires real talent and skill. Mapping it is something any idiot with a teeny bit of patience can do, especially (I presume) if you have some experience at it. And by "any idiot," I mean me.

Thank you, Charalyne. *sniff sniff* (One of the worst things that can happen in SL is to have an alt who is cuter than you are.)
