  1. Oh, I don't know. Giving your dominant modify permissions on your objects seems to me to be a very submissive act and allows them a lot of control over your life. You might come home and find your pretty house has been replaced by a cardboard box and a doggie dish.
  2. Dahlia Orellana wrote: I actually think it is an SL issue as they do the logging. But thanks everyone. LL *does* log everyone's chat and IM. But YOUR logs (if you enable logging) are kept on your own computer, not on LL's servers. If you installed a new version of Emerald, the location of the logs may have been changed. The old ones are almost certainly still there, unless your installation over-wrote them. Do a file search on your computer for "chatlog".
  3. Still, it's a reasonable question to ask here, considering that over half the users of SL are using the Emerald viewer. Sorry, OP...I don't have a clue.
  4. Theia's answer is excellent. Another thing you might try is putting yourself on a prim diet. A lot of us become prim addicts, buying more and more land so we can have more and more stuff in a never-ending cycle. Even a small place like a Linden Home can be made comfortable, if you choose your furnishings carefully, with an eye to their prim count as well as price.
  5. Just give LL your credit card number or a verified PayPal account. You don't have to USE it, just give them the account info. See your Dashboard page, My Account, Update Payment Information.
  6. Good thinking, but not quite spot on. The main problem is that the "free" 512 is not in addition to your other contributed tier. If you are at the $25 tier level, you can contribute up to 4096 m2. Your alt can contribute her free 512, for a total of 4096+512 = 4608 m2 The 10% group bonus means that this becomes 4608+461 = 5069 m2 if donated toward group-owned land. That's not quite enough to cover your current parcel. You could look into the following options. 1. Sell off a bit of your land. But you said you don't want to do that. 2. See if another Premium friend will come be your roommate and contribute their free 512. 3. Make another alt and make her Premium. 4. Continue at the $40 per month tier level, but rent out your excess tier capacity. I don't know if anyone is still buying up spare tier and renting it out...Ninjaland used to be the biggest company doing this, but has gotten out of the business (I think). You can then put the $L earned by your extra tier and the stipends from your Premium accounts to help pay your monthly bill to LL.
  7. Chuck Kingsley wrote: But, it's safe right? My personal information won't be given away to anybody else? Right? Sorry, I just never had to deal with something like this before. Chuck, giving your personal info to LL is as safe as giving it to...well, most other companies. They don't give it out or sell it. That doesn't mean that it might not be leaked inadvertently some time, a risk we all take in this Internet Age. This is a very frustrating experience. LL takes the possibility of underage users very seriously (they don't want to be sued because some kid got on the grid and got traumatized by some of the adult activities that go on there). So, if somebody reports you as being (in their opinion) underage, you're very likely going to have to prove that you're an adult, as you are now doing. Another way in which this comes up is if you used someone else's credit card (such as a parent's) as your payment information. If the credit card and personal information you sent LL at signup don't match, they can suspend you until the question is cleared up. Or if there are other discrepancies, such as you giving them an address in your home country, but living for a time in another country and accessing SL from there.
  8. Yes, that's very annoying. I would mute this person. I would also put a notice in my Picks, saying something like, "I am not Joe Schmuck's alt. Please be warned that Joe Schmuck is a griefer and manipulator. I strongly suggest you have nothing to do with him." Do NOT name-call, reveal RL information, or say anything that is not true and checkable...so you don't get AR'd yourself by Joe.
  9. Heyyy...MY land is Mature! Still, I guess you may have a point, Rygel. Only one thing...when I'm on an Adult sim (especially one like yours, where everyone KNOWS you have some kinky stuff), and I see grassy parks and white picket fences, I immediately start feeling like I've entered the city limits of Stepford. As for the OP...nope, there is no sure way to detect a stalker/predator/Bad Person. Keep your eyes and ears open and go a little slowly in making new friends, and especially new lovers.
  10. Ansariel Hiller wrote: They'd better provide more attachment spots first... They're planning to do both. Avatar meshes and additional attachment spots. Also importable object meshes, if I read the news correctly. But avatar meshes would actually REDUCE the need for attachments, in many cases. Because the mesh itself could be deformed and textured to look like a cyborg arm, or a furry's paw, or whatever.
  11. I haven't seen one, but I can write out some very basic procedures here for you. 1. Put down a foundation. Megaprims are good for this, and there is a free megaprim finder/fetcher on Xstreet called the SALT HUD. 2. I find that more megaprims are handy for outlining the house, even if you intend to replace them later with smaller prims so as to make openings for stairwells, windows, and doors. Put up one megaprim wall, and SHIFT+Drag it to make the opposite wall. SHIFT+Drag again to make a third wall, then rotate it 90 degrees and move it into place. 3. With three walls in place, if you plan to have a second story, place the floor for it. Allow at least 5m for each floor. Less will appear cramped because of the default camera position a couple of meters above your avatar. 4. See how you like the proportions. Adjust as needed. 5. Decide where you want door(s). Rez a new wall prim the same height as your "placeholder" wall, and wide enough to go between one corner and the door opening. Delete the placeholder. SHIFT+Drag to copy this prim and slide it to the other side of where the door will be. SHIFT+Drag again for another copy and slide it over the door to frame the opening. Re-size it to fit between the prims to the left and right of the door. 6. Use similar techniques to build walls around window openings. You can see that I like the SHIFT+Drag method...it lets you keep wall parts aligned perfectly. You can use this method to make windows, too. Place it and size it to fit the opening, then just reduce the thickness and texture it with a blank texture, a black color, and 80% transparency...or use a window texture for panes, etc. I also like using the numeric entry boxes where possible for precision, especially the rotation ones. Building your house aligned to the world coordinates simplifies things greatly, as all rotations are 0, 90, 180 or 270. Texturing your walls before SHIFT+Dragging copies can save you a lot of texturing time later. Selecting all the edges of walls and making them fully transparent can make seams between prims less visible. If transparent does not work for your application, texture the edges the same as the outside or the inside of the wall. Don't forget the value of cut and hollowed prims. If there are no openings in it, a single prim can form three sides (heck, even four sides) of a building, or the roof, floor, and two sides if you turn it sideways. Textures are important. Spend some time choosing some really nice exterior and interior textures. Once the shell is done, add details like interior walls, staircases, and doors. Decorate by placing rug prims, pictures on the walls, planters, and other details. Make the house "work" by scripting the doors to open and shut, and the windows to tint. Add some local teleporters...they're more convenient than stairs, many times.
  12. Tatiana is beating so far around the bush no one can tell what she means. (To the OP: All of this is off topic and has nothing to do with what you bought, OK?) One of the major vendors of animated genitalia, whose name begins with "X", has a software package that you can buy on their website. They also have a link to a third party site where you can buy what amounts to a vibrator with a USB cable attached. The software interfaces their SL products with this third party vibrator toy. When it's all hooked up, your partner, sitting at his computer somewhere far away, touches your avatar in an, um, intimate location. That touch is translated to a signal that activates the vibrator. For more information, Google "teledildonics".
  13. Ignore the Faubio, her tongue is going to go right through her cheek. I'd find that Pandora sim first, then talk to the regulars there and find out where they got THEIR skins and shapes. There ARE such to be found...the only problem is that it's a bit difficult, because CALLING the products by the names Avatar, or Pandora, or Nav'i will get them removed by a Linden Lab vigilant about protecting copyrighted material. So Search will probably not uncover all the Avatar-inspired products that are out there.
  14. What a pleasant response, thank you Travis. I'm merely pointing out that you appeared to have your priorities in the wrong order. I'm glad you're doing everything you can to get a RL job; that was not apparent in your original post. If I were out of work, I would not be hanging out in SL or on these forums. I'd be out there distributing resumes, badgering potential employers, and basically making such a nuisance of myself that someone would break down and hire me just to have themselves a little peace and quiet. I hope you are too...and not just spewing venom at strangers on the internet. Even though I can understand why your frustration level might cause you to do so.
  15. Hold on there. Your first priority should be to get a RL job. If you are bored and just sitting around waiting for replies on some applications...then you should be out there submitting more applications and doing interviews and everything else you can think of to get yourself employed. Not sitting around playing with your computer.
  16. DuncanWulfweards Sparta wrote: I was unaware wiether I was allowed to give up that sort of information upon demand. And with the current situation the individual demand it from me.. As for follwing up I have been. I am only waiting for them to respond... Been a long wait so far Following up with who? The person who reported you? Linden Lab? I'm wondering if anything you've said is true at this point. You say your account was "terminated". So...how come you're able to post here? "...the individual demand it from me." So...some person said, "I hear you're doing something bad. Show me the IM you had with XYZ to give me your side of it"...and you apparently did. You didn't have to respond to their "demand", and you were given the same opportunity to read the ToS as everyone else. But that's a peccadillo. Sharing IMs with a third party is against ToS, but generally won't result in an account termination. There is something more to this story that we are not getting.
  17. DuncanWulfweards Sparta wrote: But the thing is the person who reported me wasn't the person i was chatting with, it was the person that asked for the logs themselves and then used them to report me. they didnt over hear the conversation because it was all in PM not in world. The only reason why the other individual asked for the logs was because they found out something was going on and wanted the information from me to get "my side of the story". Which I foolishly gave up... YOU gave them a log of IM between yourself and another person? Well, that's a ToS violation right there. YOUR ToS violation, not theirs. And I'm still confused about what sort of IM or PM it was. Here you say "all in PM not in world". In another post you say it was in-world IMs. This is all very confusing, and we can't affect the outcome here anyway. My advice is to follow the appeal procedure.
  18. Just what do you mean by "private IMs"? Do you mean IMs sent inside SL, using the IM function? Or do you mean messages sent and received in an application outside of SL, like Yahoo Messenger? I have never heard of LL taking punitive action on someone based on evidence from sources outside SL, although I'm not saying it couldn't happen. Certainly, if that's the case, you could appeal the decision.
  19. No, sorry. Here's the way it works. Someone reports you for abuse, and as evidence, they paste an excerpt from their chat or their IM logs. LL gets the report and investigates. Because it's very easy for someone to edit their own chat and IM logs, to "frame" someone or make their offense look worse, LL goes to their OWN logs. They log *everything* we type, in chat and in supposedly private IMs. Whatever you said or did is confirmed to be a violation of the Terms of Service or Community Standards. For an account termination, the offense would have had to have been pretty severe...rampant copybotting, or sexual ageplay, or something equally heinous. If you think you've been treated unfairly, you can appeal. But trying to get off on a technicality like the one you suggest isn't going to work.
  20. Let's take that in reverse order. Freckles, wrinkles, muscle shading and fine details are a part of your skin. Most skins are No Mod, and cannot be changed with the Appearance sliders, although there are a few exceptions. To change your skin...put on a different skin. Hair. There are two kinds of hair. The first kind is "system hair" and can be adjusted with the Appearance sliders. It's represented in your inventory by a little icon like a head of hair. System hair, like skin, shape, and eyes, is always mandatory...you have to be wearing it. You can't remove it directly, only replace it with another like item from your inventory. Most people's system hair has the apprearance sliders set to 0, and gives the appearance of a bald head. In fact, the generic term for this system hair is "bald cap", or "baldie". This style is so common because the hair that most people wear is the OTHER type...prim hair. Prim hair is a "wig" object made up of many prims and attached to your skull attachment point. Its symbol in inventory is a little yellow box, like any other object. Having said all that, there may be yet another problem...SL could be having inventory issues. Last night, I met an avatar whose entire Library folder was missing from their inventory. If that's the case, it could be the cause of your appearance problems, especially if you are using one of the starter avatars.
  21. You may want to leave it enabled. If you disable voice, you can't hear what other people are saying...you don't even know WHICH people have voice on. I'm not a frequent voice user...but I want to hear others who are. (unless they are one of the inconsiderate types who leave their microphone hot all the time)
  22. Contact resident Qie Niangao. He has written a simple script that does what you want.
  23. Oh, for pity's sake, Ed. You're applying a double standard here...can't you see it? You open the thread shouting, in bold oversize text. When someone responds in kind, poking a little gentle fun at your ranting, you get all ruffled and start telling them to leave you alone and just answer the questions. Uh...if you can choose why you want to post, so can we. I don't have a Linden Lab Seal of Approval, nor does anyone else here (except for posters who ARE Lindens, of course). We're just residents, like you. If you're rude to us, guess what? We're likely to be rude right back. "People who volunteer here ought to be checked"...they used to do that, when there was an official Mentor program. Linden Lab disbanded that, it was too much trouble to them to run it. Here...calm down a bit, and I'll give you another answer to your question. Your credit card is not intended as a bank account, with both debits and credits. Yes, you can get a credit on your card...for returned or defective merchandise, for example. But credit card accounts are not designed as ways to RECEIVE money. PayPal, on the other hand, IS a "two way" type of account. For this reason, LL uses PayPal transfers to help you get your money out of SL. They also allow wire transfers, but that method is intended primarily for very large dollar amounts and for special cases, where PayPal is not available to a person. They used to have a third method...they would issue you a check. But that was discontinued about two years ago. Another example of excellent customer service, sorry. There...that's your answer. I'll throw in an unasked-for bit of advice too, for free: Knock that chip off your shoulder, or you'll be targeted for roasting and toasting in ANY internet forum, not just this one.
