  1. Yes, it's true. Local chat can be heard by everyone within 20 meters. That does NOT make it OK to relay* it to someone who is not within that area, unless all parties to the conversation have given their permission. *and that mean "relaying" by any method. Cut and paste, emailing chat logs, or listening devices. EDIT: There are certain circumstances, such as formal roleplay, when the participants are required to give that permission in order to participate. This is done so that the game moderators can adjudicate disputes. But it's up to you to decide whether you want to give that permission, or decline to participate.
  2. At least you manage to express yourself better than most people with this "problem'. Please understand our skepticism. What most people with this complaint really mean is, "I'm under 18 and I entered my RIGHT age. Now I want to lie about it so I can get into Adult areas." I have one piece of advice for you: Don't.
  3. No, you must convert your $L to $USD first.
  4. From the Knowledge Base:Transferring or canceling Private Region ownership You have a couple of options: You may transfer ownership of the Private Region to another Resident. This requires both you and the buyer to enter support tickets with certain details about the transaction. See Managing Private Regions for more details on the transfer process, cost, and timeframe. You may abandon your Private Region to Linden Lab. There is no fee to do so. No refunds will be given, and you will have the use of your region until the end of the current billing cycle. You need to notify the Concierge staff of your intention by submitting a ticket.Go to the Support Portal and click New Ticket Submission. In the Ticket Type dropdown, select Land and Region Issues. In the Region Request dropdown, select Region Cancellation Request. Fill out the requested details, and at the bottom, click Finish to submit the ticket. You can see billing dates and fees for all of your Private Regions at the Land Portal. If your Private Region fees are invoiced, you can see the date your billing cycle ends by logging into your Netsuite account. Note: If your next billing date falls within 5 business days of when you submit the ticket, please notify Concierge by phone or chat, so that you will not be billed automatically. Provide your ticket number in that conversation. When your ticket is processed, you'll receive a response indicating that the region will be taken offline on its next billing date and that you will not be charged any further maintenance fees. Please pick up or return any content on the region; any inventory remaining after the billing date will be deleted.
  5. If scripts are disabled where you are, fly up about 60-75 meters or so. See if the HUD can be used then.

The infohub at Ahern is lousy with voice users. Crude, profane, repetitive and stupid, but there you go. Help Island Public and Orientation Island Public have a lot of voice users. Not quite as bad as the Ahern crowd.
  7. Linden Lab ALLOWS it, but does not RECOMMEND it. Many estate owners do NOT allow it, check with yours. Or don't. It's a dumb idea...like trying to run Second Life on a 386 computer with an eight year old graphics card and Windows 98.

    Help me plz!

Besides the Quickstart guide, there is some great help in world. There is a self-paced walk through tutorial at Caledon Oxbridge University, plus live helpers to answer your questions. Click this link to log in there: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Caledon%20Oxbridge/103/184/27
  9. You can't get a specific house. All you can do is specify the style you want. It's completely random as to whether you get a one or two story "Meadowbrook" style, because there's no distinction between them, they are both "Meadowbrook". You must Abandon the home you don't like and apply again. It's like playing the lottery.
  10. You just need a vendor script to put in the prims containing the freebies. There are free ones out there. Here's one I found on the Marketplace. I haven't tested it so I can't vouch for how well it works. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Joomla-slVendor-vendor/548140
  11. It depends on what land management permissions the estate owner has given you. Open World/About Land while on your parcel. Click the Options tab. See if you can set the Teleport Routing choice to "anywhere". Or, if you can't do that, move to the arrival point you want to set, and see if you can Set the Landing Point of the parcel to the new spot. If you are unable to change these settings, contact the estate owner and ask them to set the new landing point coordinates for your parcel.
  12. I don't think it's a change in the schedule. Direct Delivery has caused a number of problems in the Marketplace. Mainly people's items getting shifted around so Person B is selling Person A's stuff. I haven't heard of Magic Boxes being affected, but it's certainly possible. Try re-setting the Magic Boxes. If that doesn't fix it, file a support ticket.
  13. There is no "Gift Card" page. It's probably a phishing scam. IMMEDIATELY log in and try to change your password. If you can't, conctact Linden Lab immediately to tell them your account has been compromised. You can file a Support Ticket, and also send an email to security@secondlife.com
  14. You have to have payment info on file (and it may take a day or two to update that information). Also, you have to take a little quiz on intellectual property issues. It's easy, they practically hand you the answers. After that, you can upload Mesh. But I'm puzzled, because to offer Mesh items on the Marketplace, you must have ALREADY uploaded them, which would mean you've gone through these steps already. Oh, I see...you created them with an alt, but are going to market them with this account? Both accounts must be mesh-certified.
  15. This is a serious problem. Take action AT ONCE as advised by the other responders. I also suggest you change your other key passwords and do a full virus and malware scan of your computer. While it's most likely that the phisher only got your SL information, they may have got it by installing a keylogger on your machine. And remove the name of the avatar you suspect from your original post, also as advised by others. Another thing you should do: Notify the issuer of your payment method (PayPal or credit card) of the fraudulent transactions at once.
  16. Charlotte, can I hire you as my Personal Shopper? :matte-motes-agape:
  17. The new Direct Delivery changes to the Marketplace have caused all kinds of bugs. Add your vote to the JIRA issues and file a support ticket.
  18. Yes, if it is a private estate region. If it's Mainland, no.
  19. First, you have to be a member of the appropriate group. Most sims are set to group, to allow only paying residents to rez objects there. Then, as previously mentioned, your group role has to have the appropriate abilities allowed. If you ARE a member of the land group, make sure you're wearing that group tag when attempting to rez objects. Some viewers don't require this, but others do.
  20. You need to take this up with Billing. We're just residents like you here on this forum, there are no Lindens here. Call: US/Canada: 800-294-1067 France: 0805-101-490 Germany: 0800-664-5510 Japan: 0066-33-132-830 Portugal: 800-814-450 Spain: 800-300-560 UK: 0800-048-4646 Brazil: 0800-762-1132 Long distance ( not free, but you can use Skype to save some cost ) : 703-286-6277 **Note: Support is offered only in English
  21. Please remove the names from your post...it's against forum rules. I'm sorry you're having this difficulty, but it's common for rental property, when the owner is, or is forced to be, away for an extended period. Be sure you have sent the owner both an IM and a notecard (many people's IMs get "capped"). Explain the problem and politely request a refund of your rent, since you were unable to use the space. You can file an Abuse Report for "Fraud - $L", but LL will almost certainly not take action, as this is a "resident to resident business dispute".
  22. Nope, you're hosed. Either keep your current account and your stuff, or create a new account and get new stuff. Sorry.
  23. Check your volume controls to make sure the Media slider isn't set to zero or the speaker muted.
