I even gave her a different physical address ... but too bad we both share the same credit card ;/ So I failed. I don't understand the OPs reasoning at all. Not because RL and SL are totally different but because I hate voice chat. I find the idea of wearing a headset and talking into my computer screen pretty silly, for me that machine must be quiet. I have the sound muted most of the time, no wind, no ambient sounds, no object sounds, not even my own gestures. I have iTunes running all the time and wanna hear the music not some semi-intelligent hogwash from other avatars. As an ESLer I often don't even understand what they are saying anyway, all those british accents and slangs elude me. And my answers would be sounding like a retarted person with mei häwwy djörmän akksent. But wouldn't even voice with other germans. Okay, I'm as antisocial as they come, don't own a cellphone, have no facetwitter, no skype, hate even the weekly phonecall by my mother ("kid, we never hear from you"). SL was and still is my first and only online game or computer game at all. Before I found SL I used my lappy as a typewriter and surfstation. Never even had a headset or anything like that. SL and RL are very much the same for me, I'm basically the same grumpy person in both worlds. Only in SL I'm a tad more outgoing and less shy, richer, jet settier, posher ... oh and much younger and more attractive and oh my.

I'm a sailor in SL, and as it so happens most sailboat builders in SL measure their boats accordingly to the RL boats. So with a "normal" sized SL avie I'd look rather silly on most of my boats, like a giant on a kiddie boat. In fact if you look at most action-oriented girls in SL, they are all on a decidedly smaller frame than the top models and fashionistas. I also love my motorcycles, but there the most common script allows us to shrink the bike and make it fitting for our avies. My Orca is 1.98 meters (65%) tall ... woah, 20 cm taller than me in RL where I already have a perfect model size. But being 1.98? That's unnatural and unhealthy ... and still kinda dwarfish in SL. Actually lately I see more and more "natural" sized and proportioned avies all over the grid. And the builders are adjusting their weird sized builds to the new realism as well. Most modern furniture doesn't make me look like a dwarf anymore. Anyway, I refuse to grow! Should I change my avie ever again I'd rather even go a bit smaller. Still gotta change my cam angle once I've stopped procrastinating. :smileyembarrassed:

A neck or a hairline is something that both genders have. If men grew a nice set of mammaries, they'd be bored by them. Many people consider "private flesh" to be any feature that is specific to one gender or another. Since everybody has a face, the comparison to muslim burkas does not apply. Logic does not alleviate consequences for breaking the law. And I can see your point about breaking it on occasion. The proper term for it is "civil disobedience." and Americans most frequently invoke it in defense of the first amendment. A word of caution though. Pick your battles. Be prepared to deal with the consequences of an act of civil disobedience, and know your defense beforehand. Those who commit such acts successfully usually can cite the reasons why a certain rule or law is immoral, does more harm than good, etc. A classic example from US history is Rosa Parks refusing to move to the back of a bus. In movies, "brief nudity" is an automatic PG13 rating. (Pg13 is not heavily enforced though.) And I have my doubts that your "topless Tuesdays" are what can be considered brief. Any movie that is chock-full of topless women is considered "R (restricted audiences)" Which IS enforced, and requires moviegoers to present ID showing that they are at least 17 years of age. Now, previous to the ratings that I've mentioned are G and PG. G (General Audience) means "There is nothing at all in this film that can be considered in any way contovertial." PG (Parental Guidance suggested) basically means "90 percent of the population will see no problem at all with this, but if you're one of those **bleep**-retentive parents, maybe you should see this first." Yes, we have similar crap rules in Germany and in South Africa and I guess in most western countries. Only that in Europe no sane adult person cares about even giving those ratings a look. When you agreed to the TOS of SL you agreed to follow all of it, whether you read it or not. Yes, I did. Seeing as it's not OK according to the TOS that you agreed to and never read, logic never enters into it. Logic would dictate that you read the TOS before agreeing to it and then follow it. Right, let's forget about the Linden ghettos, let's have widened oceans around the mainland continents instead, like on Gaeta V (althought it's a shame we have some bottlenecks there due to clueless land management by LL). For example Sansara, our oldest and still most beautiful continent, doesn't allow a circumnavigation after like almost 10 years of existence. They did a lot in regards of infrastructure thereabouts but still didn't finish this most noble project. Neither on the Japanese continent, Nautilus or Corsica. With the rate SL is losing sims it shouldn't be a problem bringing those sims to a better use by making oceans and corridors. Once ppl see LL is delivering some better quality of life they could even sell more land to the residents.

Not in the western world. Not even in the USA afaik. According to most our constitutions we have gender equality, right? If the boys can go topless so can we! It's only logical. It's laughable. Maestro L doesn't seem to be the brightest bulb in LL's thinktank. He often shows total disregard to his job and the customers. For example the group notices bug: hwo the heck am I supposed to know at what time I failed to receive a notice? I didn't get it, so I won't even know about the bug if not some other group members would hint me to it. And the question answers itself, really; the bug occured in the moment when the notice was sent. It's not our duty to do Maestro's job. Maybe if we would receive his salary we could negotiate about it. :smileyindifferent:

In the upper right corner of your viewer screen the SLT is displayed. It's the same time as US westcoast, so it won't make no difference for you if you are located thereabouts.

Hm, just hinking if Vlad is looking for social people her should pick me. I'm so social, even supersocial they had to invent a new word for folks like me: socialist. That, in SLs frame of mind, sets me right in a subculture, a minority of freaks. A friend of mine left SL and was stupid enough to cancel her account. Needless to say she couldn't live without SL and was back a few weeks later with an alt. Her old account was a designer, so she had a lot of clothes and vendors in her inventory. When my friend decided to start business again she paid the reactivation fee (9.95 US$) and got her account back ... incl her whole inventory. Now the cancelled acc was only dead for like 3 mth or so, and it was in 07 or 08 so and LL were a nicer bunch back then. Maybe after a longer period the lab would've deleted the inventory ... meh.

The reason I prefer content creators is that they tend to be more well-versed in the social enviornment and what's popular. No, that's BS! Most content creators are not really great socializers. They tend to be loners, spending their little time in-world with building and checking up on their stores (if they still have an in-world store, which less and less have). Nowadays content creation isn't done by torturing prims and stacking them up anymore but in offline 3D modelling software. Social content creators are the people you want to ask, since they actually spend a lot of time inworld, socializing and playing with other avies. They know what's hot and what's not! PS: I'm an ESLer and not good with English but if you really plan on writing a book you should clue up on your grammar and othography.

It was sposed to happen sooner or later. Be thankful for the extra special care the Phoenix team put into maintaining Phoenix that long after it became obsolete. I always considered myself a hardcore Phoenix fangirl but a few weeks ago it became impossible to use for some stuff. So I finally amde the plunge and immersed into FS. Was okay but, like Phoenix, it felt heavy handed and slow. So now I'm on Singularity. And let me tell you it's The **bleep**!!! True V1 GUI, fast rendering, much better fps, everything is perfect in my little outdated world. It's light on resources as well, so perfect for laptops and older hardware. Singularity is regarded as the action viewer, so you should use it if you're into fighting, raiding, sailing, biking and stuff like that anyway. Despite the fact that it's V 1.2.3 under the hood it renders mesh without a problem. Only thing I'm missing is Media on Prim. But that doesn't bother me too much.

Also check out Serena Estates, they have some 1/2 homesteads available right now. You get almost full owner rights and can turn your whole parcel into a jungle or whatever you fancy.

Although I'd never would waste my money on ATI GPUs and/or Alienware lappies your machine should run SL just fine, even on high graphics (use ultra only for photos). It's not a weakling like a netbook or a tablet, Alienware makes gaming computers for fox sakes! So, just update your graphic driver. Oh, you did? Ok, then try a lighter viewer, like Singularity. It's the preferred viewer on laptops and older hardware anyway.

These times are long gone by now, Sephy. They put now up to 16 full sims on 1 server and dunnohowmanymore homesteads. It's simply breathtaking how grossly underpowered SL is. And whenever they come up with a code fix and things start to look better ... LL just goes "whoopee, let's cram more sims onto the servers, let's save on hardware costs." The lab is probably the cheapest server hosting company that ever existed. And I don't mean cheap for the customers.

How is it xenophobic to make the observation that not all content thieves are from the US? Hey, yes, I must apologize (kinda) for my wording there but I was very riled up/amused by what sounded like a blank generalization. Furtheron in other comments was mentioning of "foreign contries", which again is a kinda xenophobic statement. I don't know which country anybody here is from, and frankly I couldn't give a phuk about it. So if you speak of foreign countries what countries do you mean? For example "my country" is Germany, so it's not at all foreign but very familiar. On the other hand countries like the USA and stuff are very exotic, alien places. Foreign in every sense of the word! It would be just too easy to state that everything is totally weird and wrong there. Still I don't say the USA is to blame for copybotters and griefers. For me it's an individual thing.

ATI Radeon HD 3400 ... do I see a problem here already? World of Warcraft and Rift Not very fair to compare computer games with a monster hog like SL. WoW and Rift have ready-made worlds with optimized textures, while in SL everything (and I mean EVERY FOCKING THING!) you see was created by residents, ppl like you and me. Many of those residents are amazingly talented artists but still amateurs, and the textures they are working with are often overkill.
