You're talking about these Huawei 3G sticks? Yeah, they are great when you're in an area with good coverage. I use mine when we're travelling. In cities they usually work great, even for SL if you're not trying to break an overland speed record with your car/motorcycle. Tried the stick on a little island in the North Sea with less satisfying results. Could only use it outside. Anyway, I can't recommend those for permanent use on SL. Most providers giving you a fake flatrate, 5GB hispeed and after that you're throttled down to unusuable dial-in speeds. And when you have to wait 3 minutes for a normal internet site to show up you can imagine what it does to your SL experience. So by all means use those fancy shticks for checking your email, reading Orcablog or other insignificant stuff. But don't use it as a permanent SL solution. You'll use up the 5 GB in a matter of days and then it becomes ridiculously expensive.

I wear 3 different skins from 3 different makers in 3 different tans quite regularly. To match those even to the one pair of mesh feet sandals I own is already too complicated and takes much too long. I never find the right skin tone. So I only wear those sandals with long jeans that cover most of the feet anyway. On the other hand I'm going barefoot very often and never bothered with prim or mesh feet. Mostly I go barefoot in order to be as light as possible on prims and particularly on scripts. So my vanity has to take a step back. Also I'm mostly much too busy to even look at my feet.

Hi Malanya, directly at the Blake Sea you only find a handful of estates renting out parcels and sims. - United Sailing Sims (USS) - Balboa sims, Holly Kai sims, Honah Lee sims - Sailors Cove (SC) - SL New England (SLNE) - Snug Harbor - Second Norway I bet they all have property available, often even marked as For Sale in the worldmap so they'll show in in yellow. Simple and easy to find property in Blake.

@ Jennifer & Melita: Yes, now I remember. Dunno exactly but I guess it sent me to a fake SL website and I had to log in there. I never care much about all that stuff, having a firewall and antivir and all that stuff. They all telling me "Woman you save with us so stop focken worrying!" So I stopped worrying and ... got burned. :smileysad: And up to today I still have much more important stuff to do with my time than spending it worrying about my safety. I'm not SL's most sexy crash test dummy for no reason. :smileywink:

Individual admins can be nice and helpful and even act like compassionate human beings rather than braindead labbers. A couple of years back I made the n00bish mistake and clicked on a link in some group IM ... was sposedly to some or the other survey. Clicked it, nothing happened, so I went on minding my own business. While later I get an IM. A Linden typing me a short message "tssk tssk" and POOF! I'm gone. Me thinking WTF? and trying to log back. Don't work. So me logging back with alt and asking the Linden "wtf?" Turns out he thought I was involed in a criminal scam and banned my main. Theybanned the culprit and thought I was an accomplice. What, little Orca? I was still cute and cuddly back then and pretty innocent. I was like "oh noes, me just clickered that link" and he like "Girl, check Orca's account!" Okay, me checking account ... it's all empty, like 48000 L just went poof! :smileysurprised: So my alt told him what happen and he was so super nice and reinstalled Orca. Pheeew. And even better, all my money was there as well. Since that day I'm all clued up and super clever and keep my wallet on a chain. And never click links sent to me by unknown peeps. Loved LL in that moment. Was the first and so far the last time ever.

I got an Oracul as well, Assassin it's called I guess. Bought it inworld as I do with almost all my stuff. And even though it's not as silly as many other AOs it's still extremely "busy" and all my bichies complaining about my restlessness. So I only wear it on my silly days but am mostly back on less intrusive (but sadly more expensive) AOs.

Heck, I still don't get Nelly's problem. If and when my compi breaks down (for any particular reason) the last thing it does is uninstalling the viewer. /me speaks with a machine-like voice: "Uh oh, I feel so weak, having memory loss. Seems one of my RAM modules is burning out." /me makes sniffing noises. "Oh noes! The PSU is packing it in ... can't survive much longer. Oh the stink, I can't take it anymore. Let me quickly uninstall the SL viewer before I die. Or should I better get rid of that stupid windows thing? Or Office? Or Photo Sh...... aaaaaaaaaaaaaaargs...." Nope! Doesn't happen that way.

Much more important tho: Who is asking you to reinstall the viewer? And why should you do the reinstall? Is it corrupted? Is that particular viewer too heavy for your computer? We need more info to help you with your problem.

Richtig. :smileyembarrassed: Aber auch inhaltlich fand ich das Statement lustig - natürlich ist vieles darin eine Interpretation (viele wüdren sogar sagen, dass jeder Meinugsaüßerung eine Interpretation voraus geht). Das deutlichste Beispiel: Deinem "EDIT 2" liegen einige Interpretationen zu Grunde. Technisch/orthographisch gesehen wohl schon, ja. Aber nicht wirklich.:matte-motes-sunglasses-3: Natürlich denke ich, wie die meisten, über das nach was vor mir gepostet wurde und wie ich darauf antworte, aber eine Interpretation ist für mich doch was eher wissenschaftliches. Fürderhin bitte ich zu bedenken, dass Pick up artist's (wahrscheinlich ein Schlagwort das Baranowski, in seiner Publicitygeilheit, sich selbst ausgedacht hat; im Allgemeinen nennen wir sie einfach "Männer" oder "Aufreißer") ein Plural darstellt. Insofern hat das von ihm oder von dir gebrauchte Deppenapostroph in dem Wort auch nix zu suchen. Manchmal schäme ich mich, eine Frau zu sein.

You on laptop it sounds like. And while the specs of your system are a bit on the low side it should run SL sufficiently enough. So ruling your machine out as main culprit you should nevertheless beef it up a bit with more RAM. And of course CLEAN that thing!!! Desktops need every 6 months, laptops every 3 months, a good cleaning. Dusty innards of a computer can cause serious overheating problems. Would be a good idea to place your lappy on a cooling pad and give it enough room to breathe. Also cleanse your OS, software like TuneUp Utilities works wonders to make your system run leaner and faster and with less problems. And what you should always do is to close all non-essential programs running on your machine: while logged in SL there is no need to also have a web bowser or office software running at the same time. It all eats into your valuable and scarce system resources. If you really wanna get nerdy get rid of that stupid Vista. It was a dud OS like unfortunately every second Windows is by nature. Install a free and modern Linux (Mint or Ubuntu come highly recommended). Enjoy a super easy desktop of your choice, enjoy a **bleep**load of very capable software coming with the OS (all open source of course) and enjoy all the upgrades wiith a single mouseclick and be the coolest kid on the block. EDIT: what Peggy said! Didn't notice your GPU is of the integrated (not intergrated, tssk tssk) kind. So, yes, even after driving your compy thru the carwash I guess its days are counted anyway.

Guys, you are so right but here's the twist: if Rock's gonna buy a prefab system, say from Dell or Acer or HP or something the power unit will probably be much too weak to support a real gpu. These things need a lot, and I mean a LOT!, of power. So my advice is to never buy a readymade. Get your dream machine taylor made for the task on hand (gaming), save a lot of money, and end up with a versatile individual system. Upgrade whenever needed and never worry about compatibility stuff. So these things are important for SL: - gpu by Nvidia - power brick at least 650 W - RAM galore! The super bestest processor and storing units are secondary; nice to have but not super important. Upgrade later.

Hi Alternate, welcome to our slowly dying world and these forae. Well, house sizes are quite simple, aren't they? 30x30 m = 900m², so that house (or should I say palace) should fit on a 1536 parcel ... in theory. 1536 m² is quite a standard size for SL land, it's 3x 512 m². Yeah, so you put your free 512 in and pay tier for 1024. Ideally you find a parcel that is 48x32 but land is often shaped in strange ways. Along Linden routes or waterways they are cut out very strangely so you have lots of little nooks and crannies that are only good for the prims but not really to build on. So next time when you go hunting for land activate Property Lines in the View menu for that will show you the exact outline of the property. Oh, and before you do that you make a 30x30 prim in a sandbox and with some luck you can put it onto the parcel to see if your house would fit. Depends if the land seller allows building for anybody.

Yeah, sounds like the good old connectivity issue. Check your connection with speedtest.org and complain to your ISP if the result isn't as promised. Could be a new, more damanding viewer too or maybe you switched to wireless. Or you have other programs running in the background or your machine is clogging up with dust and overheating or or or ...

My PC isn't of any concern here, it was a midrange machine, i5/560 with 8 GB of 1333 RAM and a Zotac GTX260 card when I got it in 2010. It plays SL well enough, the real trouble is my slow connection. Okay, my trick for better quality, non pixelated photos is the most easy and logical: I up the resolution to 6000 x 3thousandsomething. So even when I crop the photo kinda small I still have a resolution higher than my screen. :matte-motes-nerdy: Of course it makes the snapshooting process rather slow and clumsy but the end result is gorgeous. For action shots I dial the res down to its initial 1920 x 1033. Oh, and I never (never ever! Only sometimes) use midday light setting. If I don't have time to play with light settings I use at least the sunset setting, it beefs things up quite a bit.
